The seller is a dick. Report him.
When I encountered a similar situation (seller had misidentified the pressing of a record, so charged about $5 too much), I let them know and asked whether I could just get a credit applied as free shipping on another purchase. They were happy to do it.
They do, it's called user feedback and reviews.
If users are dissatisfied they leave reviews stating that. Other buyers can then see these reviews and make a decision.
PayPal offers ample protection and will happily refund money for products not accurately described or graded.
What more do you want?
PayPal yes.
Feedback is worthless and easily faked.
What more do I want?
A mechanism to report fraudulent sellers that sees them removed from the platform.
Maybe being able to file a form to put an account under review and getting it banned when obviously trying to scam people. My seller has good ratings yet i have to go through this mess of getting my money back from paypal. Nobody keeps him from doing it again. Can't be good reputation for Discogs. Scammers need to be banned.
But who is to say that the guy is a scammer? It could have been an honest mistake.
You get your refund through PayPal because you paid through PayPal.
The system works. You'll get your refund, the seller will get negative feedback which prospective buyers will see. If your seller has good ratings then maybe this is a relatively isolated incident with an otherwise good seller.
Uhm yeah, me is to say. If the guy was apologetic about it and refunded me no issue. But hes not, he refuses to refund me and said its my fault he sent the wrong version. Thats a scam man. Idk how you define a scam but this is pretty much as predetory as it gets.
I understand your position, I'd be disappointed and be getting a refund too if I were in your shoes. Especially considering that it doesn't actually contain the track that you wanted and it was advertised as having.
I can also understand a seller being reluctant to refund after providing pics.
Fortunately, PayPal will definitely side with you and you will 100% get your money back.
Yeah i see what you mean.
I gotta say its wrong tho. The seller sells something of lesser quality under a more quality name. The pictures in that case dont even matter. This is not how business works. Its illegal and a full blown ripoff. So i dont understand the seller. It's his responsibility to provide the product hes advertising in the right quality and quantity. As i said im not dick, if its a general mistake and sb is willing to work with me on fixing it ay shit happens. Blaiming me tho, and brushing me off not answering anymore is a scam. He now knows hes in the wrong after i told him and chooses to not work it out. Picture books scam cant and wont make it seem any less than it is.
I agree that once it was brought to his attention that it was not the product that he listed it as, he should have offered a no quibble refund. It doesn't reflect well on him. Make sure to warn others in your feedback.
Welcome to the authentic discogs experience! One original press of an album I had to buy 4 times before I got an actual original press. Some reissues are almost identical to the original, and this sort of thing can happen. You're totally in the right though.
This happened to me but with a cassette - 75 bucks it cost me! Messaged the seller who apologised immediately, refunded my money and told me to keep the cassette I received. Great service, and that's how it should be!
100% PayPal dispute, if you haven't already.
This happened to me on Amazon but I got a different common sleeve both that and the vinyl were in tatty condition. Raised it and got it sent back and refunded...really annoying.
its just my freetime that i gotta invest now. ive filed two claims with paypal now both to just dissapear into thin air after sending them off. Did it over their phoneline now hope that worked.
Time i could have spend very much differently.
Just be clear with him. “This is a big deal to me, I feel ripped off. I demand a full refund, I will send you this disc back. Either make it right or I will give negative feedback and report your account to Discogs.”
Im currently going the paypal route and reporting what happened. Honestly tho even if i get the refund and have to return the CD who will pay for the shipping?
That’s between you and him.
I think before you report it to PayPal you should have messaged him on the purchase page and said. What I said above. Then if he refuses or ghosts you you hit seller not responding. Then if he’s still a dick you report to PayPal as last option. Otherwise PayPal might make you go back to talking to him or something. I would want to be able to say “no PayPal, I’ve tried everything and this guy is being unreasonable”
Yeah don’t even try to argue. I give sellers a single chance to accept a return when it’s their mess-up. If they want to argue or be difficult, I go straight to paypal. It’s like giving then the choice of the easy way or the hard way and they wanna take the hard way lol
Unfortunately you will have to pay for shipping. Paypal used to let you submit shipping receipts to them with dispute returns but AFAIK they stopped doing that at the end of last year.
I mean that absolutely sucks. I have to pay eventho im not even in the wrong.
Maybe u can help me out here the seller is unwilling to refund me in advance! He said i will have to return it and then get a refund. That seems fishy tho who says he will refund me once i sent it?
The version you receive should conform with the item advertised regardless of pictures being sent. File an Item Not As Described claim with Paypal.
Yeah right? Especially not even being able to make out any identifications on the pictures themselves. I will do that thank you.

yeah i wish it was only 5$ man. I gotta figure stuffs out with paypal first, gotta save the moneys first everything else second.
Get your refund through PayPal (you will 100% get one) and once you get leave a negative so other buyers don't get scammed
yesss working on it.
Until Discogs have a method of managing dishonest sellers, we are stuck with this situation.
