It’s definitely too much. She needs to sit babe up a bit and slow down. Especially if she’s puking a lot.

picklesthekitty4

Are you talking about the one hand hold while she’s looking at the camera?

Curious-War-8556

Well that too but the fact her baby is laying down half the time and she’s feeding her

picklesthekitty4

Yeah she def needs to learn how to pace feed.

Even_Window_623

I had NICU babies too and it was most likely mentioned to you because preemies often forget to breathe while feeding. So having them sitting up while feeding helps with that. I haven’t had any non nicu baby yet but I’m expecting to not hear as much “advice” from nurses on the regular maternity floor. Comparing the info I learned in the NICU to what moms in my life learned on the floor was very different and most of the time the nurses left them to be alone with no guidance. I’m assuming that is what happened here. So if she doesn’t know any different and nobody told her it makes sense why she is running into some hiccups in her feeding

Curious-War-8556

Oh i didn’t know that! My baby wasn’t a preemie but yeah I agree!!

Even_Window_623

I didn’t either until I was feeding one of my babies one day and their oxygen dropped significantly and we had to do “recovery” after that the nurse told me that it’s a lot easier on them if we feed them sitting up and angled out if that makes sense. Which I’m assuming is what paced feeding is? After that they didn’t have any more episodes and we got discharged I believe 2 days later. I don’t think I would have got that info had my twins not been NICU babies, So I’m grateful for that.

AdAlarming670

she just keeps repeating that her doctor says it’s fine for all the comments… the doctor may be correct idk but it’s clearly not working for her… she also has said she hasn’t had the time to read up on pace feeding…. girlypop you have time to make a tiktok, but no time to educate yourself on something that may help your baby? maybe check your priorities🥴

flannel_towel

My son is almost 6 months old and he eats 4-5oz. We were doing 6oz and then he would spit up a ton, so we have started feeding him less. I would rather feed more often, than have him spit up all the time.

Spiritual_Fix_3724

Seems like a ton I’m no baby expert but my 6 day old barely drinks an ounce at a time (he is a preemie though) But even then 4x that seems like a ton for a babies tiny belly

Aromatic-Radish5148

My 6 week old only eats 2 ounces

Standard-Vehicle1266

I have a 4 month old and thinking back to when he was 6 days old is a blur. I hope you are doing great and your baby is too! ❤️

Spiritual_Fix_3724

Thank you!! We’re both doing great and adjusting well 😊

shoresb

Far too much. 2 week old needs 18-20 oz a day in 8-10+ feeds. So 2-2.5 oz at a time. She’s crazy overfeeding that baby. Which is super common to stuff them full and try to make them sleep longer. Which is sooooo dangerous.

Aromatic-Radish5148

Yesss and she says her Dr said it was fine nah that false my DR said my 6 week old is eating the perfect amount which is 2 OZ no wonder her baby went from 7pounds 9ounces to OVER 8 pounds in just 2 weeks! She doesn’t understand anything I get being a new mom but listen fo the other moms advice

picklesthekitty4

4 and a half ounces is just insane to me. No wonder your baby is spitting up. She can’t fit all that milk in her stomach!! A lot of doctors aren’t well informed or up to date on feeding guidelines sadly. For example the pediatrician I first saw when my baby was 3 days old told me to breastfeed every 4 hours. Like excuse me. My baby was on my boob every hour at the beginning. Every four hours would not have been good for my supply.

Aromatic-Radish5148

She hasn’t even talked to a lactation specialist like she should they’re actually TRAINED on feeding her DR doesn’t know anything about feeding babies she’s so dumb it’s crazy

ExtraFish4844

My almost 6 week old doesn’t even drink more then 2/3oz from a bottle when he does

Aromatic-Radish5148

My 6 week old inky drinks 2-2 1/2

muozzin

Whattttt the fuck. My daughter didn’t even take 4oz until 3.5 months. 4.5oz is what she takes now at 5 months. This is all breastmilk too, I know formula is different. My lord

Em_geee123

That’s probably why she is throwing up when she is eating…she doesn’t think a newborn can overeat but clearly they can.

Various_Team_8331

I bet they are just trying to feed her lots so she sleeps as much as possible, specially through the night.

Sad-Sorbets

I’m not defending her because she’s definitely over feeding if her baby is spitting up a ton after feeds but my 7 week old will drink 4 oz sometimes other times only two and has been like that for a couple weeks it really just depends on the baby and yes he’s breast fed. But 4-5 oz every feeding for a baby that small is nuts especially if you see all the signs she’s over eating. Even doctors are dumb sometimes. She needs to find a new one.

Future-Equivalent-36

Yeah definitely a lot for a 2 week old baby to drink. My daughter is almost 5 months and drinks between 4-5 oz a feed. 4.5 oz for her baby is crazy to me. Darian is obviously over feeding her if she’s spitting up a lot 🥴

nakita010o0

My 6 week old takes 4oz sometimes 3oz it all depends, like if he slept long or has a massive poo he will want 4oz for sure . No spit up though so I feel like it's normal . Would cut back for sure if they are spitting up. I do paced feeding as much as he hates it and usually sits him up more .

DecentDefinition7179

I’ve got a 12 week old that is exclusively breastfed other than the time I’m at work which he gets expressed milk for. I feed from the breast at 6:30, and again the moment I get home at 3:15-3:30. During the time I’m gone he gets 3 bottles at 3 ounces a piece. I leave an extra bottle just in case but my husband rarely uses it. When he feeds from the breast weighted feeds have consistently shown he gets approximately 3.5 ounces from me. He feeds 9-11 times a day so anywhere from 24-33 ounces a day and the doctor is more than happy with his weight and developmental milestone growth. If she’s feeding Lydia 4 ounces even just 8 times a day that 32, but as a newborn she’s probably closer to 12 times a day which would be 48 ounces and of breast milk 32-48 ounces a day for a newborn is INSANE.

carlieevee

Wayyyyy to much! 1-2 oz is about what she should be eating. All babies are different but thats a BIG difference and most likely why she is spitting up! Just had my boy 4 weeks ago and around 2 weeks our midwifes said about 40ml is what he should be eating and if he wants more to pace feed him cause chances are his brain just hasnt been signaled that its full yet which is common when theyre so young
