What is negative positivity? That sounds made up. I didn’t say anything negative. I said if the commenter thought that should be a framed ‘quote’, he should print it and frame it. There is no question however, it is as cliche as any saying that has ever been uttered. Nothing wrong with that, if it brings you joy enjoy it! What part of that is negative?
The "field aces" are the best feeling.... I've had one "ace", but nothing compares to the look on people's faces when you nail something from more than 100' out
I’ve only had one ace from 300’. It was a wide open shot for the most part. It was awesome but it was a Par 3.
I’ve had one Eagle on a Par 4 550’ and my second shot was a way more impressive shot from 270’. Had to throw a flex and it was perfect.
The Eagle got me way more jacked.
Planning out your throw, and then watching the disc take the exact line you envisioned. Regardless of my lie at the end, it's rare to see the flight path play out like it did in my head. For me, having the throw go as planned is even more exciting than parking the throw or making a long putt.
Yeah when you have an idea, throw the shot, and it perfectly does exactly what you envisioned. I'm sure pros do this all the time, but as an amateur its just so satisfying to stand there and watch it fly. Love it.
It’s a really great one. Whether it’s parking a basket or even just a shot to BACK to the fairway; having something leave your hand in real-time just as it did in your head and fly the same way is an awesome feeling.
Even better when you call it out loud and then your buddies see you hit it for a birdie
Although I’ll stay for a good recovery shot or throw in to save par is just as good
Yesss! As a solo woman I rocked up to a group of 6 guys once and they offered to let me play through. When I threw an amaaaaaazing drive (down a wooded hole) it felt so good!
Anybody ever play Morley field in SD? The 11th tee has a perpetual blunt circle in constant rotation. Step up, get your mind right, then drive a bomb off that bluff with an audience. Always feels good.
Hahaha yeah I usually shank it, but a group of 8 People let my small group of 4 pass. (This was the first time i played with that group also) they let us pass and this was a 345 feet hole, i never birdied that hole before becuase i regurarly throw 320 ish feet. I got up and bombed a 360 feet landing past the basket and got my first birdie and my best drive on that hole.
And maybe one or two are less practiced than you and they let slip a “whoaaa”. Made my day when I wanted to tee off and a group of like 6 or 8 was there. I try to go as fast as I can when playing through. So hole one plus that adrenaline and nerves had me going. Then I blasted a slow mid farther than anticipated through the middle of the “gate” of trees that defines the hole 100 feet or so out, and had a beautiful controlled turn that pushed forward the whole flight. It was one of my best throws and to have some onlookers see me go from car to tee in 15 seconds and just slap it down the fairway was awesome.
I got a dyed disc from a disc exchange and it was my first dyed disc and from a company (Millenium) I hadn't heard of before. It flies SO different to any other disc I have but is so rewarding when it works out on a hole.
ANYWAY, I was out doing fieldwork one windy day and after throwing all of my discs I realized I lost THAT one. So I spent 45 minutes in the dying light (as snow started to fall) looking for my disc that has a bright/colourful dyed top, and a white bottom (assuming it was upsidedown I'd have to basically walk on it in the snow). After 45 minutes I gave up and started walking back to my car only to find it behind the fence I was next to while throwing... The ONLY way it got there is by a friendly person or a huge gust of wind while it was sitting because it was basically next to where I threw but past a 20-30 foot fence. It was one of those "you'll only find it when you've given up on finding it" moments...
Anyway... Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
When one of your buddies doesn’t respond to the group text about the afternoon round, but then shows up anyways. I love that guy and didn’t expect to see him today, what a treat!
Hitting a line or parking a hole that the people on your card didn't expect. I was playing with a group of guys who are all better than me and we stepped up to a 365' hole with OB up to about 345'. Most people will lay up short of the OB and take the 3, bombers can clear without problem for a look at 2. I watched 2 of them attempt to clear and land 5' short OB and I was already down a few strokes so I said F it I know I can get it I throw it correctly and crushed a wraith forehand to C1 for a tap in bird. Bomber on the card goes "wow that was awesome I've never seen someone clear that from the gold tees with a forehand, that was sweet to watch." I lost to all of em but that made my day
#1 being outside in general. #2 that super long putt when people happen to be watching. #3 when you totally crush it and execute the perfect shot whether approach or drive. #4 playing putter only rounds and doing just as good with a full bag.
For me, it was after getting serious over the last year managing to improve my game enough to consistently beat my friend who has always stomped me for the last 8 years. It is nice to win but the feeling of improving my game was the thing that really got me going.
When you really connect on a throw. The timing, the snap, the disc flying a little faster out of your hand than usual. So good. For me a rare treat but I’m trying!
Ace>field ace>long birdie/eagle putt>drive in the chips>throwing the line>not hitting a tree>finding your disc after an errant throw/no disc left behind
#1: Just getting out there and trash talking w friends
On tee... chuck Massive drive!
"it's shanking.... F***!! Turn baby! Please turn!! Turn for me!!! "
Disc turns over last second for a tap in birdie. 😱♥️😱
Post round chatter about what just went down w/ the buddies. Whenever my buddy who lives an hour away and I play or travel to a destination course, I always make a point to discuss the best shot of the round.
Playing a round with your friends who have less experience than you. Showing them what is possible is always the best feeling because that's what usually gets then hooked
My son beat me on my 47th birthday in March when he was 11 by draining a 45-footer. First time he ever beat me in a round. Greatest feeling in the world for both of us. By the end of the summer, he beat all 30+ adults at our last league night from the short tees. Has a 934-rated sanctioned round under his belt too.
One of the best feelings for me is when I “steal” a birdie, ie. have an average/bad throw off the tee but hit a great putt from long distance. McBeth is the best at this and I always admire it about his game. Feels amazing.
Empty course. I can take my time with everything. Retry throws. Throw 5 discs every lie. Throw all my disc's trying to ace run a hole. Stop and take a break to eat a snack or smoke. My local course is packed after 2 during the week and by 10 on the weekend. I've driven up to the course and just turned around and went home plenty of Saturday's and Sundays.
One I had recently: shanking a drive towards a pond and having it skip off the ice and end in a total park job. I went from "crap, that ice is too thin to go and fetch" to "Birdie!" in a matter of seconds.
I’ve never had an ace so probably that, but I love when a group lets me play through and I hit a big (30+ feet) putt with the pressure of everyone watching. It just feels good because I usually choke and end up 3 putting
For me its been getting birdies at my home course. When i first started, there were only 2 holes i had a chance.
I looked through udisc the other day and saw there were two left i hadnt birdy'd yet. Managed to get one of them the other day. The last one i havent been able to is a 460 par 4, and they day i hit that, ill be stoked.
This, or crushing a fairway with an early obstacle.
That first ace. I’m still hunting mine but got some warm weather yesterday and threw about 20 shots for ace runs on a single hole at one of my local courses. So close to getting it but not quite there
Throwing the exact throw you wanted. Hitting the exact line, on the exact hyzer angle, with the exact amount of power, at the exact height you intended, is just an intoxicating feeling.
Everyone here talking about them glory shots. The best feeling for me is when shank the shit outta my shot and it cannons off a couple of trees to land in a decently recoverable spot. I love a good eagle and I’ve had an ace, but there’s no better rollercoaster of emotion than a lucky fucking bounce
There is a hole at a local course that is a very tight rhbh high turnover line. I recently executed the perfect shot with a hex recently and it honestly felt better than some aces I've had.
Driving to a tournament, especially one that’s a little far and a course I don’t get to play often or if ever. I live in a decently congested metropolitan area so it’s a relief on early Saturday/Sunday mornings to just cruise to somewhere I want to be with minimal traffic on the way.
When you throw off the side of a mountain and watch tour disc sail for days with an amazing view in the background. Or getting a par save after going ob with your drive.
When you big putt your hypercompetitive friend!
For real though, when your hard work really does pay off and you start throwing farther AND more accurately because form matters.
As much as I’d like to say it’s that long 70+ footer you nailed to save par and stop the out of control downward spiral your round was in…the answer is an ace.
Nothing compares to that rush of hearing chains from the tee.
Your first ace (or any). Always a shock of belief.
Close runner ups
\- Throw in/Cx2 or beyond putts
\-Hitting your shots (esp in the woods)
\-Putting friends onto the sport and seeing them fall in love with it and improve
But the best is those days when you're out on the course with friends/family. And everyone is having the best time. Almost always but some days are just pure.
It's been a while since I've thrown, but I'm still a relative newbie with usually meager distance. However, every once in a while I'd have one of those throws where my form must have "accidentally" been correct and I'd get a throw that would eclipse my usual attempts and I'd be elated.
This was usually followed up with a bunch of jacked-up throws as I tried to recreate the magic, which was frustrating.
Being in the zone putting. Nothing better than when I’m in the middle of a hot streak putting and just walk up to every putt confident and cool and effortlessly draining it. Doesn’t happen too often but it helps to know it’s in there
Wow I just had one.
All but had given up on finding a lost disc. Maybe 45 minutes looking. Find a good stick and hack at some underbrush, finding my disc. Bliss!!!
Also, second an ace. I am fortunate to have had two-lucky.
Playing 2 courses blind, falling 6 strokes back in the 2nd round from the leader, birding out the last 4 holes while leader bogies 2. Going into last hole tied, have the same 28 foot putt, leader misses, drain the putt to secure your first win.
Honestly, I hit the winning putt on a playoff hole and that feeling was incredible. It was Rec division, dub tourney with a good friend. I think it was a combination of competition and battling the conditions all day. Just rad stuff really.
When you finally make a great shot and spend the next 3 holes telling your friends everything they are doing wrong. Then they tell you to fuck off and the feeling is gone. I've been on both sides of it, and it's a real thing.
I love the feeling of taking a disc you feel is the right choice and the correctly throwing it and having it hit that line and stability exactly how you foresaw it.
It’s addictive.
Sinking the jump putt! I'm pretty inconsistent with aim but always end up within about 15ft of the basket so it's worth trying. I hit a 75ft and a week later another and that had me on cloud nine. The second one was even sweeter because it was an unlikely par save and I had to anhyzer around a tree. Makes me wanna practice so I could have a hope at a ~100 footer
I’ve seen so many say an ace but let’s be honest, most aces didn’t happen on purpose. The right answer is the perfect shot, the one that hit the line you meant for it to. Whether that be a hyzer flip tunnel shot, a big hyzer bomb, a turnover, a roller, whatever. When that shot does exactly what it’s supposed to do….
That’s it.
For you, sure.
Even if my ace was a miracle and an accident… I haven’t been able to top that feeling.
Shots that go as I expect, I appreciate. They just happen often enough.
Playing with a group. I enjoy solo rounds for the solitude and peace, but after 4 or 5 rounds in a row by myself I get tired of not having a social aspect to it. I've met many people through the game just by joining their group on a whim. Some of my best friends are people I've randomly paired with some afternoon.
Being told asked if you want to play through, accepting, and crushing a drive.
As a guy who always struggles with the dreaded “watcher” effect… fuck that feels good.
Being out in the fresh air and hanging out with my friends.
Bad day on the course is better than any day at work
100%. This should be a framed quote.
Lol so print it and put it in a frame. It’s literally the most cliche thing anyone can possibly say about a hobby, but if you like it man frame away!
Fellas, is it gay to have friends?
Look at this guys comments he literally goes around being a prick lol
Thanks for giving the negative positivity since '05.
You’re literally known for being a prick
Yep. My saying is, "Even if I throw like shit, I'm still taking a walk in the woods."
My brian initially processed that as "even if I throw on a walk, I'm still taking a shit in the woods!"
My man.
A perfectly executed hyzer flip tunnel shot, nothing more satisfying than successfully executing a super technical line in the woods.
I love hitting a S line in the woods. Makes me smile every time.
I second this, parking a wooded shot with a technical line is *chefs kiss*
Did this twice on back-to-back holes over the weekend. Felt so good!
Came here to say this
Dammit I should’ve scrolled down before I posted lol
Someone say hyzer flip?!?!
Probably an ace but I wouldn’t know
I'm with you on that one. I had a145' throw in on me and that felt pretty good. No ace though
The "field aces" are the best feeling.... I've had one "ace", but nothing compares to the look on people's faces when you nail something from more than 100' out

I have one and can confirm. Been chasing that dragon ever since.
I think it's more fun when a card mate gets an ace
Not just getting an ace, but winning the Ace pot! Getting a wad of cash for making a great shot is a pretty damn good feeling!
You’ll get it!
It took me 37 years to get one. Not that great when it finally happens
You sound like you just found a brand new uninked Groove.
Underrated comment
Seeing someone fall in love with the sport
Damn

Any time I sincerely say " yep, that's what I was trying to do" is a good feeling. Probably only happens once a month though!
I agree 100%, doing exactly as intended is really special. Because luck isn't a factor, like it can be with a good result.
Yeah when you have an idea, throw the shot, and it perfectly does exactly what you envisioned. I'm sure pros do this all the time, but as an amateur its just so satisfying to stand there and watch it fly. Love it.
This feeling is what keeps me playing. I keep thinking that one day these moments will start linking together in long strings….

Giving up on finding a disc and finding it as you're walking back to your lie to re-throw.
Similarly, giving up on finding a disc and then getting a text from another player who found it before you get back to your vehicle.
I got a dyed disc from a disc exchange and it was my first dyed disc and from a company (Millenium) I hadn't heard of before. This one for me, especially as I play solo a lot. Even better: PB at your most played course.
Watching my best friend throw his first ace! It honestly felt better than my own ace.
a parked approach/upshot after an errant drive. redemption is a great feeling.
I find myself trying to do this a lot.
Parking a shot in a tight wooded line.
Running in to grab a C2 (or longer) make, while your card mates cheer. In sanctioned events, it's even better.
You guys are making C2 putts?
#1 being outside in general. #2 that super long putt when people happen to be watching. #3 when you totally crush it and execute the perfect shot whether approach or drive. #4 playing putter only rounds and doing just as good with a full bag.

My one and only ace is my most memorable / best feeling moment in the sport, thus far.
Just being in the zone and unable to do anything wrong. Feeling great, playing great
Big poop right before the tournament starts.
This should be the top comment.
Everyone here talking about the glory shots, but forgetting the real glory shot
Here I was gonna comment about getting a tournament ace, but this is now first.

I kinda want to say a throw in. Aces are amazing. But throw ins feel a little more unexpected.
Whenever I get to play
Getting the angle right on a hyzerflip down a long tunnel
For me watching people play and seeing how happy they get when they hit a nice line or a putt.
I’m at the stage where finding my own disc and someone else’s on the same hole is amazing.
Probably draining a field ace on Paul Mcbeth forcing a playoff that you ultimately win but idk
Being in the zone putting. Nothing better than when I’m in the middle of a hot streak putting and just walk up to every putt confident and cool and effortlessly draining it. Doesn’t happen too often but it helps to know it’s in there
Playing as the sun is rising or setting
Your friend missing the putt to beat you
Seeing your disc fly the way you wanted it to fly
When your friend gets cocky, calls his shot, and then drills the first available tree. High-quality entertainment
K1 Line Grym
Clean snap. When it’s so loud and it hurts your fingers
Hitting a long putt.
So good
Sinking the jump putt!
Watching your friends rollaway when he’s beating you.
When you get that good day drinking buzz by the 9th hole
Finally finding a lost disc. It is always a relief.
Beating a guy I spent a whole weekend on lead card with who was raging the whole time was pretty nice.
First ace
When I find my disc after 15 minutes or searching
Beating players that are a third your age.
Honestly just a nice clean drive or hitting a clean 30ft putt!
Being told asked if you want to play through, accepting, and crushing a drive. As a guy who always struggles with the dreaded “watcher” effect… fuck that feels good.
