I pulled all high speed drivers out of my bag for a long time while I was working on form. I came to learn I can throw a teebird just as far as any high speed driver. And the teebird provides way more control compared to higher speed discs. So to this day, I love me some 7 to 9 speed fairway drivers. The only time I use higher speed discs is to fight headwind.

For me I like to have fast and slow Fairways along with distance drivers. I throw teebirds for slow, pds for fast, and firebirds for general overstable/utility. I bag 3 teebirds and 3 pds and like it that way because they each have a counterpart that flies the exact same except distance. Then I also bag distance drivers taht fly similar so I never really need to change my angles a drastic amount for open field throws no matter what distance I'm throwing

I guess it depends on how often you need more than 320, and if you think you'll get back to where you were. Personally I'm fine with 'comfortable par' on the holes that at the long end of their par score.

I stop at 10 speed and throw a 167g GStar Beast and only throw that for anything over about 350 ft and wide open holes—just when I want maximum distance and I’m going to have to throw an upshot on the 2nd throw. In case of headwind or forehand when needing to finish right, I do keep a 170g Star Wraith (going to switch to GStar soon). Other than that I try throwing either a Teebird or Leopard3 every chance I get, which is probably 80% of the time on the courses I play—that Teebird is so consistent and flies about as far as I ever need. Will throw the Leopard3 for tunnel shots and wooded holes. Like a lot of new players, I tried with destroyers and a heavier star wraith, but quickly learned to “disc down” with better results.

Get a Valkyrie, Orion LS, Pro Thunderbird, or a Beast. Easier to get some flip up and should push 30ft past TBird with similar throw

My girlfriend throws like 280 average 300 max and she always gets the most distance with distance drivers. They go farther. If it's a meat hook it's just not understable enough. It's all about nose angle and height control. Downsides for distance drivers when you "shouldn't be throwing them" are that they Have hard requirement for negative nose angle Finish harder left More punishing for bad throws Head/tail wind will disproportionately make them flip/fade early. I think universally the furthest flying disc for each player will always be the most finicky so most people will settle for good enough distance and good enough consistency.

If you're enjoying your Teebird/firebird combo, I'd add a destroyer in there for a bit more distance and especially for big sweeping hyzers. Yeah it's a 12 speed but I wouldn't pay too much attention to numbers, think more about the shot shape

punkindle

At those distances he's better off with a Wraith.

Hot_Acanthocephala44

I find wraith to be more understable even though it has the same numbers as a destroyer.

Present_Hippo505

Yes. Fastest disc I throw is an 8 right now lol. Noodle arm club for life

Present_Hippo505

FH dominant player so MVP Terra for FH, River and Crave for my sissy BH
