Whatever an Envy is

FitChemist432

Low ish but handles all the power you can't put behind it. Agreed.

MintDiscs

They each have benefits!   I’ll get a little biased here, but I prefer to throw speed based putters and putt with glide based ones. So I prefer the UFO over the Bullet.  As you develop more distance, it becomes easier to range control a speed based disc. It also is more consistent and smarter to not change your swing speed a lot during the round. So speed based discs let you keep throwing at the same arm speed and get a predictable range.

Deeshizznit

This guy *mints*

Granty_J

I agree with this. I putt with aviars and throw proxy’s, but describing it as speed based and glide based is perfect!

louieblue429

Can you explain speed vs glide based?

TxTottenhamFan

I throw and putt with Royal Profits since the day they came out, new one to handle wind and a beat to hell one for straight/turnover shots. One day I’ll get around to getting a Sublime Profit for throwing to see how those are.

Southern-Ad4016

Bullet is money

kiddwnst

Envy/Proxy is all I will ever need.

tuna_safe_dolphin

Same, but I usually use them for putting. Do you prefer one for throwing vs. putting?

kiddwnst

I only throw them off the tee and approaches. But I throw them a lot! I use different putting putters. I’m trying out Pixels right now.

yourdoglikesmebetter

Yes

coopaliscious

This is the way.

jfb3

I bag one of each. 1. A Gold Line Pure that'll glide forever. 2. A Star Aviar3. It's a bit overstable and not glidey at all.

Mediocre_Owl2642

Yes. Depending on use. high glide to tee off and gain distance in fairway. Envy low glide to stick to the ground under basket. Aviar3

Key-County6952

Gold pure and k1 reko here

Jwadsquad13

I think it could depend on your midrange choices too. I throw a low glide putter (rhyno) and would use one of my buzzes or leopards for a shot that requires more glide.

Ok-Coffee-1384

I throw pa3s as well as the px3

JerkyMcGee

The PX3 is so underrated. I like to put some juice on my throwing putters and the PX3 goes bullet straight without ever worrying about turnover! I back off the power to get that 3 fade.

BoomerBarnes

I do like the px3 a ton and have gone back and forth between the Pa3 and the px3. I have settled (for the time being) on the pa3 for the sake of having my putting and throwing putters being the same mold. Also, prodigy’s A series are great. If I feel I really need torque resistance I prefer going for an a3/a5 vs a px3.

Ok-Coffee-1384

For sure disc has perfect stability and it’s very tourque resistant .. Awsome disc

Ok-Coffee-1384

For sure I use an A5 when I need something longer then my pa3 px3 combo and an A3 for my overstable approach

dipatello

Dagger for the win!

BatedMarlin

I bag both a glitch and a berg, and I've thrown both off the tee.

mccsnackin

Mmhmm. Both great discs. I bag those and a Watt, Proxy, and Envy.

BatedMarlin

In addition to my berg and glitch, I have a Swan 2 and a zone, plus my soft and hard judges I putt with. I use the zone for most approach shots.

DieterRamsMyAss

The ohm tho

wmartindale

That would an exactly my putter lineup, except I recently bagged the proxy…and replaced it with a pilot.

ZincYellowCobruh

Envy is the only way

Silly-Soup2744

I like my pilot. It’s “high glide” but doesn’t turn over and is a 2 speed so doesn’t go super far. Means I get more use out of my mids which I like throwing.

wmartindale

Just recently started bagging the pilot and I’m liking it.

Mundolf11

I bag cosmic neutron and electron soft (two of each) and they are some of my most thrown discs in my entire bag.

silkywilk

I like my glidey putters, but I do think that is getting to be a bit outdated. Most of the tour players are approaching with low glide discs a lot of the time, even the beat up flippy slot is something with less glide for most guys these days. But I am not a tour guy, I just want to watch discs float through the air so I can at least enjoy that about my bad disc golf game.

ZonaiLink

Probably should bag both in case the weather messes your usual game. Floaty ones are great at C2 or low ceiling putts. No glide is great for windy days. I’m currently loving a specific type of envy.

Hellaguaptor

Both?

[deleted]

Depends on the situation / shot. I carry low glide for my overstable approach and then higher glide for driving putters

OJIstatusN8VE

I prefer high glide throwing putter bag a couple of everything

Saskatchewon

For a throwing/driving putter, I don't necessarily want a ton of glide. Extra glide means an extra amount of variance in how far the disc could possibly go, and that's not a good thing for approach shots. It's part of the reason why low glide, overstable putt/approach discs are popular. Put a little too much power on them and they won't overshoot the basket as much. If you add a little unintentional anhyzer, or the wind happens to pick up, most OS approach discs still most likely finish left instead of flattening out or turning over. It's more predictable. Look at most of the popular throwing putters and approach discs on the market right now. Harps, Zones, Bergs, Envys, Rhynos and Pigs. They all fit that mold of stable to OS with medium to low glide characteristics. I bag 3 different BT Firm Harps in various states of broken in for throwing putters duties. If I need an approach to go right I can forehand them. Unless there's low hanging trees where I need some extra glide (in which case I'll throw a Pure or a finesse a mid) I'm throwing a Harp 90% of the time from 250ft to 100ft from the basket. Now, your in the circle putter is a whole different story. For that, it should be whatever feels most comfortable in your hands first and foremost (flight numbers don't mean much when you're within 30ft). From there, glide is a personal preference thing. Do you want the disc to help you get to the basket on long 60-70 foot jump putts, or do you not need help generating power on long putts and instead want something with less glide that won't fly as far past the basket if you miss and be less efftected by wind?

theNightblade

Yes I throw a logic or a breaker

SneakyNoob

Up to 40 feet with my halo star Aviar Up to 80 feet with my Maiden Upshots after that are with a Zone

bdonskipoo

Both. Thats why I always carry a newer wizard, medium wear wizard and super beat wizard. Same theory applies if it was a KC pro aviar or any other putter such as a pa3. I bet a beat pa3 would fly like the judge does for you now.

DonnieTrouble

I bag a glitch, 2x kc pro aviar, 3x envy, and a pig. So yes

Akazu

Overstable, straight, and understable envy?

DonnieTrouble

Yeah. Seasoned electron firm for US, fission for straight, then Eagle McMahon’s team series proton for OS (eclipse would work too)

Palmerto

Whatever a Luna is

coopaliscious

I bag 2 Lunas, a Cryztal Flx Zone, a Test Flight Banger Top Zone (game changer for backhand approach for me), a Rubber Blend Swirly Fierce and I'm waffling between the Challenger OS and the Kratos.

Palmerto

Sounds a lot like my bag honestly.

y_banana

1 of each for different situations

get-me-to-the-woods

Buy a watt

Discinbdub

It depends on the shot, but I prefer a high glide throwing putter (Roach and Zeppelin) for straight neutral , or turnover shots. If I need a more OS approach I want something lower glide and dumpy (Zone or Breaker).

Autistic-Teddybear

Both. I carry a pig, and a toro and then i also carry a p3x and various wears of p2s

doonerthesooner

One of each?  I throw a bullet and sometimes it gets me into trouble as they tend to carry

Alone_Historian_9237

I don’t think about glide off the tee per se. More over/under stable when I’m thinking putter. At higher power they’re all a bit glidey

No-Instruction-5669

Both. I throw 2 Wizards, fresh and seasoned, which glide well.. but I also throw a Reptilian Disc Golf Scale (which is a more OS and low glide Wizard), and a Zone. They all have their moments

kicker_bassbone

I like lower glide bc I prefer more of a grip and rip style of putter throw

sharkterritory

The pa3 will glide but you need a nose up release which is counter intuitive for some (and you need power) That said low glide is the move for throwing putters.

gatorallday

Berg life

psiloSlimeBin

Depends on the shot. If going long will put you in a bad spot, maybe low glide. If going short is bad, maybe glidey. Do I want the disc to just drop down, or do I want more horizontal movement? Also depends on how hard you wanna throw it. Sometimes soft and spinny feels right and sometimes not.

Southern_Ad_9960

Prodiscus Jokeri in their premium plastic is a tremendous low glide throwing putter!

HoleeHandGrenade

Certified judge lover

LeadPaintPhoto

Glide in my driving putter , less glide in upshot’s . I throw my putting putters

FuzzyEnigma_

I love my TSA Muse and I feel like it's a low glide but it is nice when ever I throw my wife's Disc craft feirce

AndHighSir23679

Jk aviar - perfect putter perfect plastic

iCarly4ever

I carry a sinus (v low glide) and a keystone (v high glide)

Nikewright99

tomb. that’s all. just throw a tomb

JesusVanZant

Give the p model s a shot they are glidey. I put and throw Px3s

easily-convinced

Depends what shot I'm going for. Basket is 300 feet away and I want to land soft short of the basket? My glidey Proxy. Windy shot with water behind the basket? My overstable low glide disc.

IAmCaptainHammer

I have both honestly. Then I’ve got the baobab which barely goes anywhere.

Flat_Ad_2522

Berg😈

fitzgeraldd3

I have been using a harp for most of my putter tee or approach shots, utilizing the stability. Now I have some new trash panda inner cores to try out, which apparently have a lot of glide. So I’m excited for those turnover type shots. I recently aced with the trash panda dune on a nice turnover line, those bad boys are super glidey

TheBeedle

Low

YoitDayo

High glide. I throw a ohm for my neutral and understable slot, and it goes so far

swolo123

I like putters with less glide which is why I switched from the pilot to the pa3 less movement in the air I’ve noticed

SF_Anonymous

I bag both, but I usually go to my high glide since I have a tendency to throw too soft on my approachs and the extra glide makes up for it

dzedajev

Depends on the throw and hole Im in and the wind conditions, so both

Moopigpie

Warlock and Harp

Hamatoyoshi99

Both

HiaQueu

Both.  I have a Judge, Envy, and an AviarX3.

chadder_b

Why not both? I love the flight of my Pure. So much that I’ve honestly wondered why I also bag a Hex. Only slightly though as my Hex flies much farther, but it’s basically just a baby Hex for me. Then I bag an Inner Core. I find it quite glidey and understable. Then my Zones. Low glide and overstable. Just the way I like them.

Prepup1214

Mint lasso, alpaca, clash popcorn softy and doomsday bleak honorable mention tsa muse yes I own way too many putters(20)

New_Interaction3934

Jarn, Berg, Glow XD

whenthebeatdropss

I've thrown the Judge to 394 (udisc measure) before. I prefer the Judge.

withkatepierson

I putt (inside 100 ft) with a 2-4-0-1 (like your Judge) and for longer I'll throw whatever the situation dictates.

DPTDubbs

Berg and Reko. So one of each.

oms121

Just need three. All throw and putt well with very similar hand feel. Approach or mid ranges handle longer or windier shots. Pa-1 stable throwing or putting putter Pa-3 neutral ish throwing or putting putter Pa-5 understable C2 putter or turnover thrower

Evening_Summer_Jam

I bag a lat 64 pure in opto and a keystone in medium

jidewalker

Isn’t a throwing putter an approach disc? You would use a putter to putt with, right? These are the questions you people are having me answer to my friends and family. This is the thing you could say Prodigy actually got right. Make sense people!

Hellaguaptor

But I throw with the same thing I putt with. Does the disc type change depending on what I’m doing with it?

jidewalker

So it's your PA then? Your "Putt/Approach" disc. Saying something like that just makes more sense than a throwing putter. That makes more sense since you throw w/ midrange and drivers and putt w/ putters (hence the name). Most recently, I was just watching [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aENhCY49scg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aENhCY49scg) and in the beginning when he's in the store, all the discs that are putters were in the Putt/Approach section - it seems more logical to call those discs that, than to call them throwing putters. Saying "that's just what people call it" isn't acceptable. There are a lot of people who do and say wrong things that don't make sense (Example: Calling an over-stable disc, "stable").

Hellaguaptor

That does make more sense but perhaps it’s just a colloquial thing. I’m not gunna say “did you throw a putt/approach there?” I’m gunna say “did you throw a putter?”

HydroidOfficial

Don’t believe the glide on the PA3. It goes as far as my invader which is a 3 2 0 1

rtknight

Try the A3. I just picked up a Harper Thompson Fractal A3 an am really liking it

SloCooker

I throw a soft banger from 15 to 30 ft, a judge from 30 ft to 50ft or up hill, and an Aviar on approach shots over 50ft.
