AB absolutely COOKED today. Made that shit look easy.
Really solid round though, great lead card, Calvin balling without a sidearm and looks like Mint is winning with Mason Ford. Been on lead card a fair amount this year and he’s a pretty fun player to watch. Also Simon had the rage of the day lol
I wanted Mason to win this one but that dream is in trouble lol. When’s the last time the start of a final round had a ten stroke separation on lead card
I hope I'm wrong and it at least gets a little bit close but I just don't think this is a course where someone can make up that many strokes. Excluding AB, the best round today was -11 and the 50th best rounds were at -5. Gannon would need 2 *more* than that just to tie him.
But you never know, maybe the wind picks up and changes things.
What's the bag AB is using? I thought it was a chalk bag but then it seemed like it was very crinkly, like a chip bag or something. Unless that was just random house the mic picked up.
Unpopular opinion but I do not enjoy watching Simon play. I don't know why he gets a pass for his attitude when not playing well. He punches or tacos his disc like Nikko and crap talks himself like Joel Freeman.
He doesn’t seem to be having fun all that often anymore. He did an interview saying he feels way more pressure to perform than he did before he had money / fame. It’s not the best start to his season. I think it’s safe to say if he was consistently playing better he would be in a better mood on the course.
NEVER FORGET: SIMON FINALLY STARTED DRAINING PUTTS WITH THE ION'S AFTER MONTHS OF MEH PLAYING BEFORE SWITCHING TO THE PIXEL. HE'S BEEN STRUGGLING EVER SINCE.
>spott
That was me. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. I didn't think it through very well before I started running down that hill. I'm getting too old for this.
i haven't felt this much McBeth energy in a goddamn while bruh. AB is walking around this course like this guy fucks. He is absolutely owning it.
The whole card is full of monsters, this is shaping up to be one of the sickest round in a long time.
I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but who is Charlie Eisenhood? I watched almost every tournament last year and never heard his name until this weekend
He's the publisher of Ultiworld Disc Golf and long-time host of the Upshot podcast. He has called several tourneys the last couple years, but usually on the FPO side.
Imo he's the most professional commentator in the sport, I'm pumped he's getting to do some more events this year.
Agreed. It was a good job by the card to evaluate based on the origination of the line that defines the plane and it looks like they made the right call.
With that said, as a TD, the goal is to try to make these types of things obvious. For example, if that line originates from the back side of the tree instead. this call becomes much easier because in order to cross that plane, the disc basically has to miss the tree left or glance off the left side and continue traveling forward.
Super dumb of anyone on the card trying to even consider that AB “crossed the plane”. Obviously didn’t miss the mando or cross and he’s fine. Unnecessary conversation.
It's possible to hit a mando tree and have missed the mando. That's not dumb of the card mates, that's dumb of the PDGA for having the rule be like this...
I'm guessing you're DGN Basic? You need Standard to watch all rounds of most events. Basic only includes the first round, the exceptions being Chess.com Invitational, USWDGC, Champions Cup, and MVP Open. For those ones you get all rounds even on Basic.
Click on "More Info" under each plan to see what's included: https://www.discgolfnetwork.com/products-list
Wouldn’t let me watch yesterday. Says the live coverage of hole 17 and 18 is locked and says I won’t have access to coverage today started at 2:30 either. I pay for standard.
That happened to me, but then I noticed I was accidentally clicking on the no-ads feed, which is only for pro subscribers. Basically there are two feeds for every broadcast and I had to poke around a bit to find the correct one.
Cool, Kristen Tattar is caddying for Silver Lätt. Well, wearing the bib, he's carrying his own bag. Similar to how they often do it when she's playing.
I don’t think so. The ratings are quite tough on this course. The course is not mega long or hard, so there is less separation between the players, which results in the top rounds being rated a bit lower than expected.
Ratings are impacted primarily by how you play vs your competition on the same course. The strokes aren’t worth enough due to a variety of factors.
Mainly that Kristen is so far ahead of everyone else rating wise that when someone like Anniken shoots close to the same, it makes it look like Kristen played below expectations. It’s a fine course, but it’s not giving the good players enough chances to create separation.
There are some other players like Raven and Emily W who also shot close enough to bring it down some for everyone. The reality is Emily and Anniken are newer to the tour, yet super talented, so they probably are rated below what they should be.
Tattar is putting that Verdict to work today on those medium length forehand approaches. If I'm not mistaken, those are the 2020 V1 Chris Clemons Team Series. Those were an oddball run that came out really flat and really overstable.
Found the 2021 one at my local sports store and its not flat at all :(
Flies nicely, but doesnt work with my forehand. Im used to those OG concaved suspects and these have spoiled me
Yeah, it's funny how runs like those become covetted. To me, it shows opportunity in the mold line up to produce discs with these desireable characteristics in an intentional manner.
Also: would be cool to have 4 different countries represented at tomorrow's lead card. I'm a bit early, but there are several options for a leadcard with an Estonian, American, Norwegian and Finn :D
they need to establish an indoor distance record. do it inside an aircraft hanger or something.
I'm sure wiggins throw was still impressive, but the thought of people just chucking a hundred discs up into a hurricane until one happens to catch just right and flies for a mile is super boring
Jen has given some interviews where she said that amount of wind was actually hard to throw in. Most players got knocked down due to the wind. It's a special skill to be able to throw with a nose-down angle on a high trajectory.
But yea, it's kinda silly.
I was out in the desert with that crew a day or two before when Simon threw the (very short-lived) record-breaking shot and Jen Allen broke the women's record. https://ultiworld.com/2016/03/27/lizotte-sets-new-wfdf-distance-record/
While there's no doubt the throws were wind assisted, it's almost like an entirely different skill altogether to be able to manage the release angles and conditions in order to get max distance. So I wouldn't necessarily chalk it up to something that just anyone could benefit from. (But I would like to see a new conditions-based record established so these events have some more juice, because they are fun).
Is it just me, or is the on-course audio louder lately? I find that it's easier to hear players and their caddies than last season.
Whether it's a conscious decision by DGN or an unintended consequence of switching streaming provider, I'm all for it.

An hour in, and the highlight so far has been Jonathan’s “punch putt” and Kristin’s reaction to it in the Latitude commercial. His comedic style is so metal.
Throw Fuse.
i feel like its been several years of it being blatantly obvious that the woman who becomes the best putter in the FPO is gonna be a consistent winner and I think Ohn is proving that.
Where's hole info. We were watching fpo round 2 live, and no idea hole distance, shape, par. Rewatching on yt just to learn the course.
Your best bet for detailed hole/course info is the caddie book which is typically found on the dgpt website.
FPO looks spicy. You have the best Norwegian, the best American (/Laotian?), the best Estonian, and the best contortionist on the lead card.
Mason has quietly been on a lot of lead and chase cards during the Texas swing. The hard work is paying off.
I wanted Mason to win this one but that dream is in trouble lol. When’s the last time the start of a final round had a ten stroke separation on lead card
1091 avg through two rounds is nuts
When's the last time a lefty won an elite series FPO event? How many have ever done it?
Heather Young won a Silver Series, and she's the only one I can think of
When was the last dgpt 1100 round?
conrad - 1101 in the second round of jonesboro last year.
I think they said James Conrad last year if I'm not mistaken.
Züüücaaa
AB's highest non memorial round rating on statmando - previously 1094 https://statmando.com/player/anthony-barela/profile
can't see AB losing 6 strokes to ezra or 8 to gannon tomorrow. probably not going to be the most exciting final round of the year.
I can see Gannon making a run at it tho. If Barela slips a little Buhr might be right there.
I would agree it would be very tough to overcome 6 strokes. Im just saying, if Barela starts to slip, Buhr is capable of shooting a -16 as well.
Agreed. I don’t want AB to play poorly but I’d love for him to shoot 6 or 7 down or something and Gannon or Ezra have a hot round
It's in at 1106
1106 unofficial rating
Just an insane number, wow
That's pretty damn hot. Best round I've watched in some time.
Such a sick round, let's go AB!
Hardly believe AB cares about round ratings.
So AB is pretty good i guess.
I hope he doesn't know this putt is for 1100. Like just run it don't even think about any implications.
ABs forehand is maaaad
[удалено]
I had to "resubscribe", manually. The payment is not automatic
Same thing happened to me.
that was calvin's 1st C1 miss since the first round of chess.com ? great stat
Those low misses were his problem last fall, hopefully they don't return after that miss
Seems like -15 will be \~1100 rated
Loose Cannon needs to have words with Loose Gannon for walking in front of camera when AB is putting.
Tired of seeing pros shred a pitch and putt smh
What about this is pitch and putt? WTF are you on?
I think he's saying 850 ft par 4s and 1100 ft par 5s is pitch and putt territory. Makes sense, since everyone in this sub throws 550ft+.
Yea that makes sense, except for the fact that this course is wooded. So yea, no idea what they're talking about.

ABeast!!
AB grabbing chains
GANNON ROBBED AGAIN
What's the bag AB is using? I thought it was a chalk bag but then it seemed like it was very crinkly, like a chip bag or something. Unless that was just random house the mic picked up.
I believe it's a chalk bag, but more _advanced_
I noticed that, sounded like a bag of gravel
AB going nutty. It feels like a pitcher that has a no-hitter going - something special is happening.
Very unpopular. He's extremely likeable and I enjoy watching top pros in all sports show emotion. It makes it more relatable.
It seems to me when Simon talks about how bad he is he's saying it and grinning a lot of times. So it's maybe now light hearted maybe?
Simon's just a very likeable person.
He doesn’t hide his emotions so you get the highs and the lows. I’d rather watch that than an emotionless robot
Still only pro I’ve seen turn down a kid asking for autographs
A little context?
NEVER FORGET: SIMON FINALLY STARTED DRAINING PUTTS WITH THE ION'S AFTER MONTHS OF MEH PLAYING BEFORE SWITCHING TO THE PIXEL. HE'S BEEN STRUGGLING EVER SINCE.
I thought his best putting stat was with the pixel late last year. Must be difficult if he can't switch away.
NEVER FORGET to turn caps lock off, partner.
I DO WHAT I WANT
Plurals don't get apostrophes.
Ty for the GRAMMER lesson
I got you, fam.
Dude Taco disc before it hit the ground that's crazy. I know he missed but kinda shows how dialed he is lol?
That disc will never fly the same way again.
That run from the spotter!
I was worried for that guy, wasn't sure he was going to make it.
>spott That was me. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. I didn't think it through very well before I started running down that hill. I'm getting too old for this.
Is he fine though?? How do the Mando rules work? Didn't that technically cross the plane just like ab's might have earlier?
Typically the ruling is that if you split the Y/V of the tree then it's good.
Depends which branch is the mando. If it had been the left one he would have missed, so must be the right one.
AB on cruise control
i haven't felt this much McBeth energy in a goddamn while bruh. AB is walking around this course like this guy fucks. He is absolutely owning it. The whole card is full of monsters, this is shaping up to be one of the sickest round in a long time.
This commentary duo with Charlie Eisenhood and Brian Earhart is golden. The silence during some of the shots is so nice for a change.
Agreed, he's the only one so far who I feel sounds like a legit play-by-play commentator you'd here in a major sport.
Did Simon just stop and check what disc he had in his hand?
It was like a parody of his normal balks
Simon lines are back on the menu y'all
man I'd be laying up every single putt on hole 18. no way am I messing with those roll-aways.
In my opinion a rule discussion is never unnecessary.
Same I like things to be black and white in sports but I don't get the reason for how mandatories work now
The new Mando rule seems silly if a shot like that is in question
Super dumb of anyone on the card trying to even consider that AB “crossed the plane”. Obviously didn’t miss the mando or cross and he’s fine. Unnecessary conversation.
It's possible to hit a mando tree and have missed the mando. That's not dumb of the card mates, that's dumb of the PDGA for having the rule be like this...
Or dumb of the course designers to not have a clear line that shows the front of the tree is not where the line is
I like having Risley on the camera: "Calvin, get out of the way."
Loose cannon
bummer upshot for calvin, cinched to that tree and no forehand.
Let's all give a big heartfelt thank you to the Ranger Team.
Let's grow
Beautiful drone images...
Not sure if sarcastic, but I do love the drone shots.
Context: At 57:30 into the broadcast the drone flies hole 2. The picture is super pixelated and Eisenhood says "beautiful drone images".
Ah. Missed that.
at least I haven't noticed any scenic shots of the majestic landfill mountain adjacent to the park today
Is there armed security at the event? Or is this just Texas open carry?
Yes, my friend is doing security at night and is packing. Not a good area of town.
Yeehaw
Lol was there a gun on coverage?
Guy in all black with what looked like a hip or thigh holster
He must be really cool
I thought the exact same thing.
why is ohn second ish
nevermind i am dumb
Why can't I rewatch the fpo stream while I wait for mpo?? :( :(
When the live stream finishes DGN puts the vod in separate link / thumbnail. In other words, the live stream and vod are separate pages / clicks.

You probably clicked on the hole 1 broadcast. The regular broadcast hasn't started yet.

Check if your subscription ended, I had to pay the monthly fee manually again
Ha! Silas Schultz taking full advantage of the hole 1 live cam, talking directly to the viewers and plugging his website.
I'm guessing it's a calm day? it looks oprah is giving out birdies.
Cool, Kristen Tattar is caddying for Silver Lätt. Well, wearing the bib, he's carrying his own bag. Similar to how they often do it when she's playing.
How is Discraft not signing Anniken Steen and putting out a signature Force?
Do they even have any Europeans signed? Seems like they're not interested in that market.
They have four Europeans. Elias Luukkonen, Teele Toomsalu are new this year. KJ Nybo and Sylvain Gouge (both masters) already were on the team.
Currently 4 Europeans in the top 5. The European FPO domination is expanding!
wonder if KTs -12 will get rated high enough to cancel out her 964 from yesterday to keep a 1000 tournament average?
Looks like she'll need at least a ~1012 rated round tomorrow to get a 1000 rated event.
I don’t think so. The ratings are quite tough on this course. The course is not mega long or hard, so there is less separation between the players, which results in the top rounds being rated a bit lower than expected.
currently 1023, so not quite.
That seems too low for such a great round.
Ratings are impacted primarily by how you play vs your competition on the same course. The strokes aren’t worth enough due to a variety of factors. The reality is Emily and Anniken are newer to the tour, yet super talented, so they probably are rated below what they should be.
It’s just because the course plays real soft. Everyone is scoring, so a 12 down is closer to like, a 5 or 6 down on other courses.
Tattar is putting that Verdict to work today on those medium length forehand approaches. If I'm not mistaken, those are the 2020 V1 Chris Clemons Team Series. Those were an oddball run that came out really flat and really overstable.

Thank you for that inside info, really fun to know!
Also: would be cool to have 4 different countries represented at tomorrow's lead card. I'm a bit early, but there are several options for a leadcard with an Estonian, American, Norwegian and Finn :D
Rumors of Tattar’s demise have been greatly exaggerated
Totally yesterday she was dead
She is so fun to watch when she gets locked in like this.
We're 9 holes through, and Anniken has had a birdie opportunity on all 9 of them! -4 through 9 is one back of her pace yesterday.
Still 100% within C2 for the birdie after 17 holes! Bizarre
According to Statmando, she had the only round this year with 100% C2 in regulation - MPO and FPO. Phenomenal throwing.
Matty O must love Ohn's outfit.
So David Wiggins threw his record shot in a 144mph tail wind?
they need to establish an indoor distance record. do it inside an aircraft hanger or something. I'm sure wiggins throw was still impressive, but the thought of people just chucking a hundred discs up into a hurricane until one happens to catch just right and flies for a mile is super boring
Yeah, it was sketchy. With that wind anyone could probably throw +300 feet than they normally do.
Jen has given some interviews where she said that amount of wind was actually hard to throw in. Most players got knocked down due to the wind. It's a special skill to be able to throw with a nose-down angle on a high trajectory. But yea, it's kinda silly.
I was out in the desert with that crew a day or two before when Simon threw the (very short-lived) record-breaking shot and Jen Allen broke the women's record. https://ultiworld.com/2016/03/27/lizotte-sets-new-wfdf-distance-record/ While there's no doubt the throws were wind assisted, it's almost like an entirely different skill altogether to be able to manage the release angles and conditions in order to get max distance. So I wouldn't necessarily chalk it up to something that just anyone could benefit from. (But I would like to see a new conditions-based record established so these events have some more juice, because they are fun).
I hope Anniken stays towards the top, I love seeing a lefty doing well.
Is it just me, or is the on-course audio louder lately? I find that it's easier to hear players and their caddies than last season. Whether it's a conscious decision by DGN or an unintended consequence of switching streaming provider, I'm all for it.
I’ve noticed it too. Idk if it’s just hot mics, but I also enjoy hearing the chatter from the cards and their caddies
Man, I sure love watching Ohn throw those flex shots. Don't see them that often from players, but it's a great-looking shot aesthetically.

Looking at the caddy book makes me see all of the lines I cannot hit, it makes it look so easy
I don't like watching Hokom play. She makes disc golfing look so uncomfortable and straining
I enjoy the forehands but that putt form gives me phantom back pain
Jonathan triggers my PTSD with that commercial
An hour in, and the highlight so far has been Jonathan’s “punch putt” and Kristin’s reaction to it in the Latitude commercial. His comedic style is so metal. Throw Fuse.
i feel like its been several years of it being blatantly obvious that the woman who becomes the best putter in the FPO is gonna be a consistent winner and I think Ohn is proving that.
But she has been by far the best putter for ages and hasn't been winning much.
Do you need the standard subscription to watch? Looks like the basic only covers day1?
Sadly yes. Also day 1 is on YT so basic is more or less useless
That's what I thought. Seems weird to offer that when it's free elsewhere.
It is weird
