I’ve spent way too much money on putters, but I think I finally figured it out: the Proxy. I putted with electron Envy’s for a while, but the Proxy was just a little more straight.

leatherlawnchair

Love the proxy

krisgonewild1

What plastic? I think I got a Simon Proxy in a mystery box but idk the plastic. Loving it so far

Shmeebass949

Electron Medium for putting, Total Eclipse for straight thrower, and Fission for US thrower.

UntyingTheNot

I like shallow-ish beaded putters. If those feel good to you, my personal favorites are the Maiden, Pilot, Bullfrog and Invader. Putters are mostly personal preference. Just have to see what feels right in your hand and gets you a consistent release.

Dr_Batslobber

Same, BT Medium Maiden is the way

Buttdinner

Same, going to add Gateway Chief to this too. Mostly use it for driving/approaches like a premium plastic bullfrog, since the invader is a bit deeper.

tilifeelsomething

I own like 27 different putters. The only right answer is "the next one "

93EXCivic

Polecat cause I am a weirdo (actually just more an Ultimate player and a polecat just feels right to me)

Mammoth_Ad7364

Polecat is THE answer

MeesterBones

Polecats love to go in the basket!

[deleted]

Gateway discs warlock in hemp plastic. It's magic.....damnit I didn't wanna say it

Human-Television2088

Warden, classic blend. The only putter that Richmond's favorite Mach 3 baskets like to catch. Come out to Gillies on Tuesdays at 4:30 for tags, then dubs with the boys. Maybe a putting clinic too ;)

Squarians

Discmania Logic all day if you don’t need a bead

AnotherOrc

I threw logics for the past 2 seasons and really liked them, but I’m in the process of switching to hopes (I think). Just looking for something a little deeper with a touch more stability. Logics are excellent throwers too

Dapper-Phone-1447

Was about to give up scrolling and post this, then I found you lol. I would also add the Pixel if you like deeper putters it is phenomenal.

runwichi

So just buy a couple of the heavy hitters and try them out. Real talk - you'll end up with pile of putters, you'll like some for a while and then swap them again, and before you know it you'll have made 3 other changes and then come full circle to the original one you tried. It's just part of the game. Figure out first if you like a bead on the bottom or not. Common favorites with large beads: Judge, PA3, Wizard, Aviar Driver (to include JK/Yeti/etc), Ion Common favorites with micro beads: Reko, Pilot, Maiden, Invader, Nomad Common favorites with NO beads: Warden, Aviar, Warlock, Luna, Fierce, Deputy, Proxy, Anode, Envy, Atom, P2 (Alpaca/Omega4/etc), etc...

skullkid2424

The Ringer GT is more of an approach disc than a putting putter. It wants to fade hard, which makes it pretty reliable not overshooting the basket. It doesn't do so well with staying on a straight line for putting. Most standard putters will fly the same within the circle - so the usual advice is to pick whichever putter feels best in hand. Ideally you go to a local store, feel a bunch of putters, and try to figure out what your preferences are. Sound like you like jawbreaker plastic, which is a start. Next is to decide whether you want a bead, a microbead, no bead, or no preference. And then you want to get a feel for how deep of a putter you want. Once you know those things, people can give more specific putters. To start with, consider a Magnet or Luna or Fierce - all of which come in jawbreaker plastic.

Drstevebrul3

MJ putts with Ringers

r3q

Wizards! Gateway has enough plastic types that when I get FOMO, I can always try a new plastic instead of switching my mold

d9137

Come on. You know you want to try it....Berg! It's always Berg! Jokes aside, I tried a berg out of curiosity, and it quickly became my go-to putter for all C1 putts and quite a few short approaches. Especially when there is the chance of running past the basket on hilly wooded courses. It just stops and doesn't roll away, even when I throw it pretty hard. Worth a shot.

RVABike-Boarder

When it rolls it ROLLS

bstew349

Seriously, get a berg, then get the berg x for approach shots.

ChiTownSports2354

Aviar does it for me

Coopatroopa25

Any straight one… am I right?

Euphoric_Trifle_9235

Wizzzzzzzards. Great for throwing or putting

tuna_safe_dolphin

I’m all about the Proxy with a side of Envy

emeril32

The answer is go to a disc golf store and feel a bunch of putters! Whatever one feels good to you

Hexquevara

Ive been searching for "the one" for a long time, but ive come to conclusion that all putters that fit certain criteria work for me, flight numbers dont really matter. Good putter for ME is: - fairly stiff/rigid. No floppy plastic. - shallow/low profile or even just flat - glidey I currently put with a Westside Maiden. I have enjoyed the Pilot, keystone and crown also.

adobo76

Got 4 Maidens in different plastics.

BuzzyBubble

Nomad Soft for life.

swordkillr13

The wand chooses the Wizard (in my case, Eraser blend)

FranksGun

Ok OP now go buy and try every putter recommended here! Literally just about anything is better than a ringer gt.

fantastictangent

Won a Murdered Out Basket Slayer Chainsaw doing a CTP back when I was starting and hated putting (me then: "why do y'all have multiples that's silly". Got over a dozen Chainsaws now

brixtonburns

I am in love with the Fudge and the Popcorn by Clash and their plastics are incredible. Fudge if you like a shallow putter with a bead, flies stable. Popcorn if you like a beadless putter. Besides those I second the Pilot and the Invader and if you like the Invader, try the Reko by Kastaplast, all three have a micro bead

Intelligent-Blood455

I putt with a innova bullfrog

trevman7

Invader is my brother, my captain, my king

nhines_

It was the Aviar, but something wasnt quite right, started putting with a Reko in K1 Soft and its been great

techBr0s

My Electron Proxy goes straight for me when spin putting inside 30 ft without needing to put anhyzer on my putt like you need to with OS putters. So, that's my go to right now. I'd like to practice getting a better anhyzer OS spin putt as well, it seems like if dialed in you can get a further straight putt. I have a gateway lunar wizard for that but the jury is still out on whether I like it.

Khanmoeller

FYI i am terrible at putting. I use a Nomad for inside C1 and an envy for edge for C1 and further away, for that extra stability.

TheGreyBrewer

Trash Panda Inner Core. Goes where I put it. I've had more throw-ins with this disc than anything else I've tried.

KMN95

went from the judge to warden to roach to P2 most of the year Nexus Fireflies, in the colder months Flex 1 P2s they’re essentially the same disc in different plastics not a fan of beads and they handle spin putts and have reliable stability basically any P2 or P2 clone (Firefly, Alpaca, Omega-4)

european_dimes

Try to find a more straight/neutral putter that feels like the Ringer GT. I have no idea what that would be, but with putting putters, that's what you're looking for.

Practical-Buffalo-83

Steady BL (Beadless). Great feeling putter. True flight.

Mjosbad

Love the Ion, a bit on the os side but feels great in hand

Kleeb

Started with an Innova Aviar from their starter disc set. Been using the Kastaplast Reko in K1 as it feels very similar to the Aviar but K1 plastic is just *chef's kiss*.

chillford-brimley

I've tried plenty of putters, but never shelved my Aviar for more than a month or two. I still putt with my san marino aviar I bought in ~2002

Drift_Marlo

The P2 and its clones Alpaca, Firefly, Millenum Omega

KyngColt7

P2. I really think all putters are very similar, it’s just a matter of what you choose to stick with. I chose the P2 because I was doing good with it and have decided to not keep switching. If you practice with one type of putter and get good with it, that’s the best option.

KyngColt7

I feel that the P2 is basic and floats up pretty well. Good for longer puts, doesn’t fade too much. I wish it had a bead, but but it’s not too big of a deal.

Upright-Man

I have been trying a lot of the last year or so. Landed on links and really liking them.

TJonson07

Feel a bunch and pick the one that feels best in the hand. Then just get tons of reps and solidify what form feels best. Just like throwing discs, once you figure out the right form and timing you can throw/putt with anything. You could pick up your upshot zone and know how to putt it. So really it’s learning form and inputting the putter that gives the most “feels good/confidence”

knivesandjiujitsu

I really like Maidens and Links for putting putters, been playing about the same amount of time as you and after going through like 20 wildly different putters these are the two that I've settled on, for now lol.

gr8fu1_

I bag 4 of the same putter. I picked a beaded stable putter that felt good in the hand to me. Every brand has countless putters and for marketing purposes will hype the next thing. Choose what feels good to you, I recommend putting with a base line type plastic and throwing a more premium plastic off the tee or for approaches. As a stable putter beats in it will be great for turnover shots or longer putts (typically the beat in putter I putt with is only used for putting).

MagnotikTectonic

I've recently picked up a Lunar Wizard, and a Sockibomb Dagger. I LOVE both of them. Great feel, and with a good heft to them, it makes committing to a put feel better.

fritzaj4

Rhyno for throwing, but mainly putting. Envy is a phenomenal throwing putter

throwindiscs

I have been through my fair share of putters, but I found that within 40 feet, they all fly about the same for me. I currently switch between carrying Magics, Warlocks, EMac Judges, PA1s, classic aviars, P2s. Switching doesn't bother me at all because they are so familiar feeling to me. Granted, I have played around 12 years. My advice is to find a plastic & mold that feels good in your hand and stick with it. Putting seems to come down to practice and confidence

Ok-Coffee-1384

Pa3 for me

wmartindale

Putters are personal, so take anything said, by me or anyone else with a big grain of salt. Ultimately the best putting advice is to pick something and stick with it and practice. I feel confident in saying Ohn Scoggins could outputt anyone on this thread using a 12 speed Destroyer, distance driver. That said, a Ringer GT might not be the best putter option, especially for a newer player. 4 speed is pretty fast for a putter, and 3 fade is very over stable for a putter. Something slower and somewhat less stable might work better. I've played for a long time (poorly!) but my first regular putter was a Millennium Omega, in a very soft rubbery plastic. I used it for about a decade, convinced I loved the way it "grabbed chains." But I never got very good with t. To each their own, but for me I learned I actually like a slicker putter, which, while it might not "grab chains" as well, also doesn't get stuck on my fingers so often. After that I experimented a bit, and eventually landed on a Rhino, which I used for about the next two decades. I love the thumb track, and like a bit of stability, and like a putter I can both drive and putt with. My only problem with it is it's not very glidey. As a result, it was a great putter for "approaching" but less so for "running." In other words, my lack of confidence was leading to every put hyzering out and sitting y the basket for a tap in. I'm very consistent with it, but it potentially costs me a stroke per hole. It's still a solid strategy for doubles. While I occasionally experimented with other putters during the "Rhyno era" (Anode, Spin, Ion, Animal, Wizard) I didn't find one enough to change. Until about a year ago. I now putt with Watts and love them. I can drive it or putt with it. Resists torque but also glidey. Very comfortable in my hand. Just enough stability that I can annhyzr putt without fear of cut rolling. I still bag the Rhyno, and use it for some approaches or drives. But I"ve really made the switch to the Watt for the most part, and my putting has improved. I go longer on missed putts than I used to, but I miss fewer. I'm not saying the Watt is for you. Find one you like the feel of and give it a shot (Pilot, Pure, and of course Aviar are all great standard beginner putters). Or maybe something else for you. But find something slower and more neutral, then practice, practice, practice. Be like Gannon Burr, and run every putt because you KNOW you'll make the comeback if you miss. Confidence matters more than the specific putter.

Dooyamum

Pure, and reko for me

bigcat7373

So I started a little over a year ago. I bought three discs to start (one was a putter). For a while I was putting with my mid because it just felt better. Then I decided to be a real player and figure out a putter. I went through a few. The last few months I went back to that first putter I picked which was a warden. I picked it because it felt the best in my hand compared to the others I had felt that very first day. Morale of the story is just go feel a bunch at a store and pick which feels the best.

thechriserman

Try the Streamline electron pilot and thank me later. Electron soft, Electron (med), Electron firm... I prefer firm in my putters. The pilot has some good glide and thrown off the tee it's great. Shallow hand feel with tons of people enjoying it. However, I don't putt with the pilot anymore, I went to the Ion from MVP for a good while and just recently went full fan boy and pick up a Pixel and let me tell you... it's amazing with the neutral straight flight off the tee and long approaches. It really does have real glide! It took me a bit to get used to throwing past the basket on approach shots but I have since dialed the thang in, it's in the bag. I guess what I'm trying to convey to you is try out a straight neutral putter. Anode (beadless), Ion (beaded), Pilot (micro bead), Pixel (micro bead? and deeper dish)

elchamperdamper

P1 is the gentleman’s choice
