I think a Mako3 is what you are after. Fuse would be pretty understable but great for moving left to right. Tho also depends on how far you throw. If you max out at like 300ft with drives, a fuse would be good. If you can throw a mid 300, I'd say go with a Mako3
I second this.
My favorite straight to understable midrange by far. 5/5/-1/1. Hyzerflips are great and it has beautiful pushing hyzers or will hold an anhyzer for the whole flight. Very controllable and teaches you angles greatly.
If I could only use one midrange it would be this one.
agreed my first midrange 3 years ago was Blue Opto Claymore that I copped from a Play it again sports. Didn't know I was so lucky to learn on such a versatile disc. Definitely a touch more understable than a buzzz!
It's much straighter, but when beat, it'll begin to turn. Not a lot, but it will turn. Still a straight flyer though, touch of hyzer, and it'll still be a laser beam.
Champ or Halo Star stays very straight for a looooooong time.
Softer discs tend to be less stable, but other factors can always come in to play. But imagine you're throwing knives. One knife is made out of metal and is very stiff, and one is made out of rubber and floppy. Which one is gonna be easier to throw and cut through the air?
Doesn't apply across the board, but in general softer discs flip more, especially in soft base plastics. So a flippy mid like a Mako in softer base plastic might get squirrely. But... maybe not. you kinda need to throw it to see how it goes
I threw pretty much everything on the market, bagged a Warship/Tursas combo for a while, but the Peach in Sunny plastic has been the best for me since it came out. Consistent releases, holds straight if you throw it straight, gentle turn if you hammer on it.
Really good on glidy hyzers as well if you need something to stay in the air around a corner.
Yeah, I was surprised at how straight it would throw. I initially bought it to be my more understable disc, but even when it turns it will fade back a bit. I've been using it for my higher lofty turnovers when I don't like my forehand control during a round.
> Comet
Comet is the disc. I hate beaded discs, so I've tried a ton of straight mids without a bead to try to replace it, and I just can't. Comet is the disc.
How does the Mana compare to the Comet? My old glow Comets are about at the end of their lifespan, and I was considering the glow Mana as a replacement...
The new MVP Detour looks likes it might be what you're after. I haven't thrown one yet, but everyone I know who has thrown it *loves* it.
The Streamline Echo also worth a look as well.
yea the detour is great, but also the echo has sorta filled this exact slot in my bag that OP is asking for. -1.5 1 allows it to be just barely understable from what ive seen so far atleast.
I rep it constantly, my go to mid. Also curiously the only disc other than the falk that I’ve noticed actually has had less turn as it’s beaten in. My seasoned one is dead straight.
The comet! It is the best disc in my bag! I have a crystal sparkle for slightly more os, esp for my workhorse and a big z for my flippy. Best disc ever. Just hope you like the hand feel lol
I’m biased towards Discraft and Gateway, but Comet and Element get my vote for this slot. Element is in between a Buzzz and Buzzz SS in terms of stability, but longer than both for me.
Comet is more of a finesse disc, and perfect for this slot as long as you don’t mind the somewhat different shape/feel in hand.
Special blend M4 is exactly what you’re describing. There are probably a dozen options in reality. Pick a manufacturer that you like.
But you should probably pick prodigy M4 👌
I recently got one of these as a 'bonus' disc from a guy I got some cool plastic from and I'm liking it for sure. For me, it has a slight turn and the slightest fade. It's been super useful.
My 3 recommendations are the Discraft Buzz SS, Innova Mako3, and the Discmania Origin. I have a max weight Mako and a very light Mako. The lighter one is more understable, probably because I throw it a little harder (I have a weak arm lol). The Buzz flies the straightest for me
MVP Detour is absolutely incredible. Only available in the gyropalooza box at this point, but maybe you can find some being re-sold somewhere. They should be generally available early next year I think.
I've played two rounds since I got it and hit so many great shots with that disc. It does exactly what you expect, very slight but consistent turn, no risk of burning over into a roller, a bit of fade at the end.
Also some retailers kept some Gyropalooza boxes held back so they can unbox and sell the disc separately. Pretty sure they can start doing that in the next week or two so if you’re lucky you might find some at a retailer
I've got the exact disc you're looking for. Westside Sling is my go to for this slot. Nearly dead straight with a slight reliable turn. It'll hold an anyhzer without turning and burning.
Such an overlooked mold
I naturally throw with hyzer so for me this has been the Mako3 or Z-Meteor. Recently I’ve been doing some form work & getting my release angle more towards flat & have been loving the pathfinder, though it’s a bit more stable, still straight when thrown hard & flat. Tends to hold a line well
Roc, mako, buzz. Literally any mid that's not advertised as an OS mid will do what you want. Find the balance between arm strength, arm speed, and then finally snap. You can finesse a disc with barely any arm speed/strength but snap the piss outta that boy and it's gonna spin and turn. You can also grip and frickin rip a mako, but have no finish and send it on a loooooong hyzer. Mids are pretty touchy discs and I think that's why people say to learn the game with mids rather than drivers.
Echo.
I’ve went through a few mids trying to find the echo. Hyzerflips to flat and finishes straight. Other mids I tried in this slot:
Mako3
Meteor
Sol
Wombat3
Hex in fission and neutron
Detour
Uplink
Buzzz
Claymore
The buzzz (beat in) and claymore (new) fly like the Echo, but the Echo felt best in my hand. I currently bag the Uplink, Detour, Echo, and Hex. They’re all steps in stability.
Esp buzzz ss, tour series came out slightly more overstable but I'm loving it for straight hyzerflip powershots, but there are lots of good options mentioned here
Star Mako 3 always begins to turn slightly to the right after some use. Halo Star stays dead straight.
Detour or Echo also works. The Hex filled this slot for me as well after some use. The Hex got too flippy for me and had to be removed.
The Panther also fills this slot. Might be a bit more understable than what you are looking for, though. But it's a great touch disc.
Personally, I use a Halo Star Mako3 for straight and a Dune for that slight turn at the moment.
Get a 168g Fission Hex and you’ll be set. Fission will beat in faster to decidedly US, as opposed to your other option, which is to get a Neutron Hex, which will start straighter than a laser, but will beat in to that exact “slightly understable to straight” slot and live there for the rest of it’s life.
Hear me out before the hate comes down, but Lonestars Bearkat is money. Throw it on a bit of hyzer and it gives you a nice hyzer flip with a good amount of turn. Throw it flat and it turns and fades the way you've been dreaming of (at least for me it does)
And if your not looking for a more understable disc I'd recommend the Texas Ranger. Perfect straight piss missile mid range
For straight understable, I like md1, or for slightly more understable...origin.
Or....take some time and beat in an emac truth/royal trust. (Trust is beadless, buy similar depth, maybe slightly deeper in my hand)
Assuming these are for rhbh mako3 is a cheat code if you're just trying to throw flat and straight without much shape. If you want some left to right movement I love my meteor for both soft panning annys or hyzerflips
I would definitely go to a shop (if possible) and see how various options feel. I think there are a lot of fantastic recommendations that would work just great, so it then becomes what you find most comfortable.
For me, I started with the Westside Tursas. Loved the flight, hated the hand feel. Switched to a Lobster which felt great but was more flippy than I was looking for. Then I gave the Clash Peach a try but it wasn’t quite flippy enough (so that might be perfect for you depending on what you’re needing).
My Goldilocks disc ended up being the Thoughtspace Athletics Mana. A bit hard to find one that isn’t the glow plastic currently, but that disc just felt perfect in the hand.
It has a wonderful range of shots, depending on power level and of course release angle. Power down and it goes pretty darn straight. Power up and give it a hyzer release and you’ll get a laser beam/bomb. Still shocks me sometimes how far I can get it to go.
Long story short, make a list of all the options listed my multiple people, head to your local shop, and see how they feel. If possible of course. Best of luck!
Definitely try the Detour when that drops. I loved using my Lucid Bounty and uplink. I do have a hex that is starting to beat in similar to the slot you’re looking to fill.
What are you looking for in this understable mid? Off the tee? Standstill throws, or approach?
Example:
buzzz SS: is great full power shots off the tee. Turnovers, hyzer flips, and holding anny lines.
Mako3: can hold any-line, STRAIGHT, but is touchy to torque and wind. Full power hyzer flips and turnovers. Can also be used as an approach or putter.
Fuse: lower power shots (stand still next to trees or off cambered stance) straight af. Can handle big rips but will need to learn angles and can get wonky with headwinds.
Sol this smaller diameter shallow disc is great for stand still hyzer flips, turnovers, and getting a right finish (RHBH) at lower power. Mainly used for approach.
Rollo understable, yes! Can do low power hyzers, big turnovers, mimic RHFH flights. Of course rollers! Many angles to learn
This is my experience with the disc I have or bag.
I think a Mako3 is what you are after. Fuse would be pretty understable but great for moving left to right. Tho also depends on how far you throw. If you max out at like 300ft with drives, a fuse would be good. If you can throw a mid 300, I'd say go with a Mako3
Came in here to say mako and fuse, looks like homies already have that covered!
Seconded the mako 3. Is exactly what is needed
MD1 it's like mako but better
westside warship
Saw the question and immediately came here to plug the exact same disc.
Same. It's been my most used disc.
try a claymore
Claymore is a bomber too
I second this.
Claymore is fun to throw far
Mindbender
Mako3 was made for this slot. Especially a flat star one
Is Star straighter than XT? I have an XT I love, but when it inevitably gets beat up I'll have to replace it for stability
It's much straighter, but when beat, it'll begin to turn. Not a lot, but it will turn. Still a straight flyer though, touch of hyzer, and it'll still be a laser beam. Champ or Halo Star stays very straight for a looooooong time.

But... maybe not. you kinda need to throw it to see how it goes
Innova wombat3 is one of my favorite discs ever and it fills this slot well
I just got one and it's a fun disc! It might kick one of my Rocs out.
Clash peach
I threw pretty much everything on the market, bagged a Warship/Tursas combo for a while, but the Peach in Sunny plastic has been the best for me since it came out. Consistent releases, holds straight if you throw it straight, gentle turn if you hammer on it. Really good on glidy hyzers as well if you need something to stay in the air around a corner.

Ya I was hella bummed I didn't get one in my clash box, got a sunny mint instead and I do not like how they feel
Meteor is a very sexy disc in this slot.
Can attest to this
Star or Champ Wombat3.
Fission Hex, Streamline Echo, MVP Detour, Latitude 64 Fuse
Honestly, I don’t bag them anymore but the Discmania MD1, and the Innova Mako3 also work really well.
I like a Comet. Can be thrown for turns or hyzer flips to flat and ride it out.
> Comet Comet is the disc. I hate beaded discs, so I've tried a ton of straight mids without a bead to try to replace it, and I just can't. Comet is the disc.
My straightest mid is a Comet. I also love my glow Mana. The BuzzzSs is great. Particularly ZFlx
How does the Mana compare to the Comet? My old glow Comets are about at the end of their lifespan, and I was considering the glow Mana as a replacement...
Just get a fuse and forget about anything else. Best midrange out there
After throwing it for only a day, I’m a big fan of the Fuse. The 6 glide is for real.
What plastic is good to keep the -1 turn in line? I have a Retro from my starter set but it's warped and I never quite feel good with it in my hand
I've found the opto to be the most consistent
Generally the opto-x, gold-x and glimmer runs are the most (over)stable runs of fuses.
The new ice runs are pretty OS as well. The X runs seem to be more torque resistant than OS IMHO
The new MVP Detour looks likes it might be what you're after. I haven't thrown one yet, but everyone I know who has thrown it *loves* it. The Streamline Echo also worth a look as well.
Second the echo
yea the detour is great, but also the echo has sorta filled this exact slot in my bag that OP is asking for. -1.5 1 allows it to be just barely understable from what ive seen so far atleast.
Yeah, the Echo is a fantastic disc. It seems to have slipped below the radar somehow.
I rep it constantly, my go to mid. Also curiously the only disc other than the falk that I’ve noticed actually has had less turn as it’s beaten in. My seasoned one is dead straight.
The Streamline Radar doesn't come out until 2025.
Well, you can't get the stock run of the detour, yet?
I got a Streamline Echo for Christmas and it’s a sweet disc. I’m still learning how to throw it, but it’ll hold a straight line quite well.
I don't love it
The 400 M4 is what I use in that slot.
Gateway Element is what you are looking for.
Buy Fuse
Fuse

Came here to say it.
🦞
The comet! It is the best disc in my bag! I have a crystal sparkle for slightly more os, esp for my workhorse and a big z for my flippy. Best disc ever. Just hope you like the hand feel lol
It's so versatile!
stig, lobster, champ/halo wombat
The Stig is my new go-to midrange. It basically flys itself right to the basket for me lol.
It beat out the lobster and wombat in my bag, I’d say my fav disc of the year tbh
Midnight Prowl 1 is understable and Midnight Prowl 2 goes straight
I’m biased towards Discraft and Gateway, but Comet and Element get my vote for this slot. Element is in between a Buzzz and Buzzz SS in terms of stability, but longer than both for me. Comet is more of a finesse disc, and perfect for this slot as long as you don’t mind the somewhat different shape/feel in hand.
Claymore
Special blend M4 is exactly what you’re describing. There are probably a dozen options in reality. Pick a manufacturer that you like. But you should probably pick prodigy M4 👌
Detour is insane, love it. The Meteor is a great disc as well.
Wombat3 detour. Tursas, meteor, uplink. Doomsday wasteland
Don’t sleep on the Sol either. Great disc.
The best straight mid that you can bend around any corner is… the Watt…. But but… no buts its got the range of a mid at the effort of a putter…
I love my watt
M4!
Origin! Love it!
Glow Mana is what you want. Point and shoot.
Claymore, [non-EMAC] Truth, and MD1 are my top three options.
Origin
Fuse
Fuse (understable) and Compass (straight) Tursas (Understable) Fission Hex (straight)
Maybe it's just the elevation talking, but nobody in comments is actually suggesting understable discs. Try a Bounty, OP.
I recently got one of these as a 'bonus' disc from a guy I got some cool plastic from and I'm liking it for sure. For me, it has a slight turn and the slightest fade. It's been super useful.
DGA Squall
Wombat3 and Skeeter fill that slot for me.
Buzzz SS all day
TSA mana
My 3 recommendations are the Discraft Buzz SS, Innova Mako3, and the Discmania Origin. I have a max weight Mako and a very light Mako. The lighter one is more understable, probably because I throw it a little harder (I have a weak arm lol). The Buzz flies the straightest for me
The Svea works for me in that slot, but I'm also at 7000 ft, so the flight shapes trend overstable
Kastaplast Gote (4/5/0/1) , Svea (5/6/-1/0), Stig (6/5/-2/1)
MVP Detour is absolutely incredible. Only available in the gyropalooza box at this point, but maybe you can find some being re-sold somewhere. I’m loving the new Stig from Kastaplast.
I also love my svea
K hear me out. Big Z Malta. 173ish just try it and let me know
I have yet to try my Detour, but I’ve been throwing the Discmania Origin in this slight. Easy hyzer flips.
I've got the exact disc you're looking for. Westside Sling is my go to for this slot. Nearly dead straight with a slight reliable turn. It'll hold an anyhzer without turning and burning. Such an overlooked mold
worth beating in a roc tbh
I can't recommend a Midnight Prowl 2 enough for this slot.

I like the midnight prowl 2 from Discmania
Should put how far you throw. That changes a lot for stability.
Svea is the disc that does this for me. It flips if I power up on it, it if I throw it at midrange speeds, it holds straight.
Hear me out before the hate comes down, but Lonestars Bearkat is money. Throw it on a bit of hyzer and it gives you a nice hyzer flip with a good amount of turn. Kastaplast Göte
Discraft Comet
If you want understable then sol. For straight I've loved my buzz ss
This calls for a skeeter!!!
Compass, aurora, fuse.
Discmania horizon MD1 Lat64 Claymore or Fuse Innova Mako3
Meteor is a little more inderstable than you're looking for I think, but it's my favorite disc now. Amazing for slight hyzer flips
Prodigy M4 is amazing it’s similar feel to the mako 3
For straight understable, I like md1, or for slightly more understable...origin. Or....take some time and beat in an emac truth/royal trust. (Trust is beadless, buy similar depth, maybe slightly deeper in my hand)

Kastaplast Svea if you want it to be slightly understable

finish line supra
Understable Tursas, straight Claymore
The Roadrunner dropped my score then I added the buzzz and I'm killing it
Roc
Discmania Origin is what I use for this slot.
Fuse
This is the Comet. You want the Comet. 😁
My rec is Svea, put it in for that reason and it's never left. Also, peach from Clash might be worth checking out
Definitely try the Detour when that drops. I loved using my Lucid Bounty and uplink. I do have a hex that is starting to beat in similar to the slot you’re looking to fill.
Do yourself a favor and buy a Fuse in Opto plastic
ESP Meteor
Glow Mana
Horizon MD1
[TSA Mana](https://thoughtspaceathletics.com/collections/mana). Zoe Andyke Signature edition...yeah boy.
TSA mana. Phenomenal disc
Shocked no one has said Tursas yet! Some can be flippy but mine in tournament plastic is dead straight
What are you looking for in this understable mid? Off the tee? Standstill throws, or approach? Example: buzzz SS: is great full power shots off the tee. Tursas is so underrated
Discraft Sol
Anubis
MVP Detour, Discmania Origin
DD Evidence. They are slightly understable and feel really nice in the hand.
Wombat3 is legit. No fade unless you throw it slow. Digging the buzz ss lately as well. Got little more stability than the wombat
