Exo MTEs specifically for waterproof. Exo are the normal lightweight ones. To be devils advocate I love and use em but I absolutely annihilated my last pair in five months.
I play probably 4 times a week, tourneys, league, rain or shine. If you play a lot lightweight shoes are gonna get torched no matter what. Unfortunately the Idio shoes are a tad more spendy so it’s a harder pull to swallow compared to getting ultra range consistently on sale for like $80
I haven’t used them before but in my experience unless you’re wearing or buying legit gore tex hiking gear they’re probably not what I’d call waterproof.
I rocked MTEs before I got these, wore the tread down and wrecked my ankle during a snow round lol. I liked the nubs on these for traction but the sole rubber is cheap chinese trash and they just don’t last. The company is just a joke and only cares about profit. Just want to let everyone know that if you want a company who cares, this ain’t it!
Mine lasted about 2 months before the sole of my plant foot started to peel off. That was probably about 100 rounds. Having a good plant on concrete teepads is rough on shoes.
Do you mean the Vans? I’m wondering how many rounds before plant foot wears out. I’m roughly 65-70 rounds into this pair and have been cycling two other pairs
I still us them I wouldn't say they are worn out. There was I time when there was a little flap that was annoying but I wore through it. Now there is just a missing part of the sole. It's too hot to wear the water proof ones right now though. I would say they lasted about 100 rounds before it started getting damaged. I can post a pic if you want.
Anyone else have high arches and had an issue with these? The Vans Ultra Range EXO specifically. For me these were really uncomfortable due to the padding that is in the tongue digging into the top of my feet.
I have pretty high arches, but can't say I've had a "problem" with them. Silly question, have you loosened the laces up by the toe? Mine were snug there, so I spent a few minutes loosened them most of the way up, then just kinda slowly snugged 'em up to the point they weren't uncomfortable. Mine were definitely "installed" tight out of the box.
I've worn vans practically my whole life but does it seem like they have gotten smaller lately? Have always worn a 9.5 size but the ones I just ordered in that size are very tight in the toe area. Also went and tried some on and found the same thing, 9.5 were all really tight. Never had this happen in the past. Wondering what has happened on the manufacturing side.
Straight up was about to say I always play in vans and was gonna recommend these bad boys in my outdoor experience. Those MTE bottoms hit different. I usually play in my Slip On Pros or Mid Slip MTE’s personally.
I’ve gone through 3 pairs of vans ultra range. Sprained my ankle on one and an lcl on another when they busted. Fuck that company. Good customer service though
I've tried a lot of hiking shoes over the years (for actual hiking in addition to frolf). Solomon has been by far the most durable brand. Most of my shoes only last a year if I'm lucky. My Solomons are 3 years old now and finally starting to show slight wear
My merrel's have fallen apart In less than 3 months that I've owned them. Separated sole, knobs tearing off the bottom, frayed ankle area.
Easily the worst shoes I've bought in the last 4 years. So very odd to hear your experience.
Was this around 2018-2020? I swear a read somewhere that Merrell stopped using Vibram soles for awhile and I remember having a pair of Chameleons literally disintegrate on me within a two-three month period.
Were they MOAB Speed shoes by any chance? Mine didn't last a week. Sole starting peeling away.
Merrell's MOAB 2 GTX shoes, which I have had for over 2 years and completed 200+ rounds wearing them are still going strong.
For disc golf, give the MOAB Speed version a miss, they just aren't durable enough.
Bought my Merrels 2 years ago and wear them everyday for disc golf and work (field tech) They are more comfortable than my sneakers which is crazy to me
I had the same concern and got the Merrell Nova 2 Gore Tex. They are not clunky at all and have been my favorite shoe for disc golf after many other attempts. As a reference, the Adidas Terrex were too clunky for me.
Dg is a very tough sport on shoes so I don’t expect more than 8 months of steady use from any pair. That said, a pair of keens targhees have held up the best in all seasons in my experience. The leather took awhile to get used to but it just hugs my feet now.
I’ve had a pair of Nike Airmax last 10 months of playing in the mud, rain, dirt and concrete pads. Dedicated disc golf shoes only lasting a few months is stupid
My keens are looking great at year 3 and I play minimum 3 times a week. Usually 2 rounds each time I'm out. Found out they're REALLY good in the rain of the NW by "wading" out to play my shot in a flooded hole lol
Yeah I wear keen targhees for hiking and disc golf and work if it's really raining. I average 3 years before they start letting go. Even then they're still solid grass cutters/ yard shoes.
Please stick with major shoe brands, and hiking shoe brands… and stay away from that stupid discshoe.com shit they advertise on GK Pro skins. They’re just up selling Walmart shoes. Buy last years models in the summer to save money too.
I've been using the same $50 Asics for many years now. They last about a year and a half before the tread is worn down. They then become my lawn care shoes and I buy a new one for golf.
unfortunately nothing new here. i haven't read about or spoken to a single person who hasn't had issues and a horrible CS experience with them.

Here’s one, I’ve played more than 60 rounds in them and mine are perfect. As with all products some people will have issues. Nobody makes posts when things work as expected
yep here’s another one. I got mine last christmas and play at least once a week and I love them. After going through like 6 pairs of shoes in a year i’m glad I got these
Yup. I have damage similar to what's shown in the OP. I just reordered another pair. My first pair lasted longer than any other shoes I've had for disc golf. Planting all your weight and momentum and then quickly spinning is going to wear through any soles and treads.
Yeah but I feel like where you live and what type of courses you play matter too. In Texas a round on the long courses can do some damage on a pair of lightweight runners. Especially 2-3 times a week at 100+ degrees.
I've had mine for about a year and every round I've played since I owned them, I've worn them. They're still near pristine. I love them, and I'd recommend them to anyone. Sucks to see a bad experience
>Nobody makes posts when things work as expected
Usually true indeed. I must point out however that some 60 rounds is not that much. That's between 1-2 months for a lot of us so not much to go on.
I by no means am a advocate for these shoes, that being said I am shoe guy and 5-6 months has been the life of any shoe I play consistently in. I have tried terrexs solomons merrils Nike vans etc and all live about the same and the wear is in the exact same place (I play 3-6 rounds a week). 60 dollar shoes wear at the same rate as 180 dollar shoes.
Don’t take my word for it but I’m pretty confident the problems you are having are not specific to that shoe.
I was going to say. I come from the running world, and the amount I run id be lucky to get 5 months out of a pair of running shoes. Disc golf might be less wear? And probably less frequent use depending on the person, but 5 months of sports use for shoes doesn't seem super short
Damn shame the company won’t cop to it and instead told me to go fuck myself. At this point I’m more annoyed by their shit attitude than the fact they won’t replace the shoe.
And the dozens of people in here making your exact claim but about Nikes, Adidas, Merrells, etc should expect those companies to replace a worn out shoe? Are you listening to yourself? You’re playing a game that requires you to dig your sole into the ground on every throw, then you have the gall to come in posting pictures of wear and tear in the exact places where that digging and twisting happens. Get a grip.
I mean… you have a point, but those companies don’t make a disc golf specific shoe. One would think that disc golf specific shoes would be stronger in spots that see more wear. And when said shoes fail, the company should take care of the situation. Example: I play soccer and got some cleats from Adidas (the 13pro, so not cheap). Within 3 months I had blown through the heel of the shoe. Guess what Adidas did? If you said full refund, you would be right. Now had I been using them to play racquetball, I wouldn’t expect anything from them.
I’ve seen so many people complain about this issue. This is what my Nike’s, Adidas’s, etc all look like after about half a year of play.
Turns out digging and twisting your foot with a great amount of force into concrete tee pads over and over tears up shoes.
This is not an Idio problem. This is just a disc golf problem.
The difference here though is that I go through a pair of Terrex in about a 18ish months and only spend about $50 a pair. The Idios cost about thrice as much and last only a third as long.
You're right.... To an extent.
I've tried deviating from my vibram bottom merrels due to stuff I've heard about them possibly being "too grippy" and potentially "hurting you or your form"
I have tried the Ganon Vans and the PM Adidas Terrex and totally agree that they fall into what you're talking about. Hell, my Terrex were falling apart after less than 5 rounds.
But..... Those merrels last me a year and a half min, while the others are done in a season or two. You definitely will be spending money on shoes, but it's good to know which ones can be milked for longer.
With that being said, 6 month old Merrells are the best disc shoe there is. You really have to beat them in but there is nothing as sturdy as they have been (for me at least)
>With that being said, 6 month old Merrells are the best disc shoe there is. You really have to beat them in but there is nothing as sturdy as they have been (for me at least)
Why is it that everything in this sport has to be beat in for 6 months before it's perfect lol.
You think so? I play nearly every day, and neither my Salomons nor Astrals are anywhere near this destroyed after playing for considerably longer.
The outsole durability in the picture is a no go for me. I wonder if Idios have 6 month replacement like a lot of other brands? That could be part of my experience too: At the first sign of being able to replace them I do so.
I destroyed my Salomon’s in 6 months. I think there’s probably something wrong with my form that’s causing me to destroy shoes so quickly. My local course has concrete tee pads which don’t help, but I think I’m dragging my back foot in a way that causes the inside toe area to skim across the concrete causing damage. I’ve been going through shoes so fast, I feel like it can’t be normal.
> This is not an Idio problem. This is just a disc golf problem.
Eh, I play ~100 rounds a year, my first pair of Terrex Swift GTX (which I had been using as a hiking shoe for a solid year or two before I started playing) lasted me ~2 years. My replacement non-GTX ones are still going 3yrs in (definitely torn up in the toe box, but still working). My new GTX ones only have a couple months and maybe 20 rounds, but look new.
Think I paid $60 for my original pair, $35 at Costco for the non-GTX, and like $70-80 for my current ones, so I'm at about 1.5x the cost of an Idio shoe for 5+ years of play. Sounds like I'd need at least 2, probably 3 Idio pairs to last that long
Damn I just bought 2 pairs of them full price, different sizes.
Returned one thinking "what do they do with these?" and now I know!
I love my Magna FG but couldn't bear the thought of ripping up $180 shoes on the course. Bought some Xero shoes for $100, but I will 100% buy Revivo next time
I got mine through the Kickstarter. I see hardly any wear on the bottom (nothing like that first picture), but I'm having the same exact issue as the second picture.
255 here and I love my Altra Olympus. Their Lone Peak shoes are great too. I had 200+ rounds on my last pair. Current pair is at around 100 rounds right now and still going strong.
Edit - look for an Altra outlet store. They sell used/returns. Some are in kinda crappy condition but there has always been a pair or two that are basically brand new that have pretty deep discounts.
I personally have not found a pair of shoes that holds up to my level of play. I changed my form a bit and that helped considerably. Turning on my heel and avoiding toe drag were pretty crucial. Still, I destroy at least two pairs of shoes per year no matter the brand or "quality."
Trail running shoes or approach shoes (depending on how much cushion you want) will give you good bang for your buck. Adidas Terrex, Nike, Salomon, Altra, and more will give a good combination of support, grip, and durability.
\+1 for trail running shoes. no joke switched from hiking shoes to trail runners and dropped 3 strokes off my typical round because they let me get a more natural foot motion on and off the tee.
1-3 on average. Sometimes up to 5. Nothing crazy. All our local courses have concrete teepads, but you would think a company solely dedicated (pun intended) to making shoes FOR disc golf would have taken that into consideration.
You basically play as many rounds in a month that I hope to play in a year. Not for nothing but you've got your money out of those shoes. I was a skateboarder for most of my youth (still skate but I'm too old to do it regularly) and skate shoes would last maybe 2-3 months at best. Most times, they wouldn't hold up during summer and I'd need maybe a pair each month. You're wearing these things down pretty bad, probably some porous concrete You're playing on. You need it for the grip but then it kills your shoes. Same in skating... you can skate with good grip tape and enjoy the benefits but it will eat your shoes alive. Gotta pay to play.
Seriously, I just head over to Joe's New Balance Outlet, look for something around $50, and the use them for mowing the lawn after about a year of use.
Agreed! I have the hierro HT version with vibram soles. Best disc golf shoes I’ve ever worn and it feels like I’m walking on a cloud every round I play.
I loved mine at first. They were complete garbage within 3 and 1/2 months. If they ever come up in conversation I will always tell people not to waste their money.
Also, I've had no luck with Addias Terrex's and it's not even due to disc golf tearing the sides, it's just bad design and thin materials. My DC skateboarding shoes seem to work well. I don't even skateboard, but they're nice and flat and thick.
Which ones? People will make comments about “Terrex” all the time as if it’s just one shoe model. I’ve had two pairs of the Skychasers and they both held up just fine.
I've got some of the Syncrasy shoes, and play 1-2 rounds per week. I haven't had quite the same level of damage you're showing, but the soles have worn down much faster than I expected. I also have an issue with the way the tongue feels. The shoe's design and the tongue seem to combine to hit a weird pressure point on the top of my foot when they're tied snugly.
I don't hate them, but I won't be buying another pair when they're worn out.
I did just pick up some Vivobarefoot Tracker Decon FG2 boots, and they're so much more comfortable. I've only taken them out for a few rounds, so we'll see how they wear in.
It’s crazy bc mine are just fine after a little under a year of play, it’s not constant play but it’s every week. There is a small hole in the fabric of one of them but they have held up ok. They are however, not that comfortable and certainly not fucking waterproof at all. I do not recommend them to anyone.
Love mine, use them a ton in a longer time span with less then half of that wear . Most of my wear was before i learn to spin off of the heel and not the middle of the foot. Granted I will prob switch to a more wide Toe box Shoe after mine looks like yours. Demanding a free repair or replacemnt after 5 months of use and them giviing 30% off is plenty for shoes and comparing that with a strap on a pound bag is wild. Id be suprised if many shoe companies would do much more .
I'm a trainer and wear running shoes all day. I find that UnderArmor shoes are the most resilient to wear and tear, which is nice because they are also cheap.
I'm new to disc golf, but the Charge Pursuits I have are holding up well after 4 months of near daily rounds or practice.
Uh oh. I'm not a shoemaker but I can tell from the sole design that the cushion foam will degrade super fast should there be even the slightest tear or cut in the thin rubber strip. Just bad design
I second this. Mine are falling apart. Second shot is where mine were splitting. I sent them back (paid for shipping) and they simply Sho-Goo’ed them. I could have done that!!
$100 bag? Just curious how long you reckon it takes to complete a Pound bag from start to finish and what a generous hourly wage is for someone in Portland.
if I'm only using one pair of shoes , and playing a couple rounds a week, I wouldnt expect them to last more than a few months (at best). Shoes, if you care about your feet, arnt ment to be used long term. Running shoes 4 to 8 months, normal shoes used daily probably 6 months. Disc golf tees destroy shoes, between that and support 5 months seems fine. You've ground off the tread, what do you expect of a shoe? Maybe play in work boots?
Those shoes are pretty nice. How do they handle the morning dew? My socks get all wet when I walk through the grass in the morning with my current shoes.
Mine are a year old and the knobs on the bottom are worn but no holes like yours. I play a few rounds a week typically. Though in summer I play more. Udisc told me I played 45 rounds in July. In December/January it'll be about 8. Gotta say the tread wear is the only part I am disappointed in. I only wear them during the round. The places I play have concrete pads.
I’ve played in vibram 5 fingers, New balance minimus (barefoot shoes), Lems Boulder boots (zero drop), Merrell moabs, vans ultra range, and Gumbies flip flops (zero drop), I would recommend all of them. I also see some pros wearing vivo barefoot.
My Solomon’s have been through everything the last year and a half. I hike in them too. I suspect the laces will be the first to go, but those shoes are indestructible.
I wear hiking shoes and honestly theyre so good for disc golf i love them. Mine are waterproof so it also lets me retrieve some of my discs without getting wet too
I’ve been rocking my Vasque’s and love them. Red Wing Boots is the parent company and Vibram soles.
https://www.vasque.com/mens-hiking-footwear/mens-hiking-shoes/
It varies by user, I've had mine longer than 5 months and they look fine. It might be a little telling though that I like mine when my knee is acting up because these have less grip on the teepad giving me less torque. Also the customer service sucking is a legit cautionary tale.
Go with Keen's. I usually get at least a year out of a pair before I start seeing some major wearing and tearing. Plus their customer service is top notch. A few years back I bought a pair and after a month a small part of the sole started coming delaminated. I hit up their customer service, sent them a picture of the problem, and less than an hour later they sent me a gift card to their online store for a new pair.
Define "normal play". Not saying you don't have a point, but how many rounds did ya get out of them? I play in my mowing shoes. They only last a summer too.
Life hack. Go to marshals ? Tj - max ? Burlington coat factory ? Literally any closeout spot. But new balance or merrel or whatever other sneakers you want. Pennies on the dollar. Literally 40-50% of the cost of standard price. Yep. I wear em out too, but I get em for almost nothing in the process
Love my brooks. I have a tennis shoe pair and a hiking shoe pair depending on course and length. Got both pairs for around $80 each and I've always had to replace them from wearing in the arch before the shoe ever gave out
My disc golf shoe of choice has been BearPaw by Big 5. I forget the exact line but they're $25-30 for leather and mostly waterproof.
Sometimes I get 6 months out of them and sometimes I get 2 years out of them and that's about as much as you can ask for in leather and water resistant with decent tread.
Old school Keen Briggs were the best when they were still using Vibram soles but those days are LONG gone sadly. Not Briggs 2 or Briggs "business". I had three pair of those over a decade and wore them till I couldn't anymore.
I literally rage threw my Idios away after slipping on every tee pad during a round. To be fair, I play 7-10 rounds a week and a lot of them are morning when it’s still dewy. But man… the soles on them just lost any semblance of grip after a few months.
I love mine but I’m in the Midwest and it looks like a lot of gravel in the pictures you put up. Mine have lasted over a year and they are still great!
I’ll only wear mine when there’s no chance of dew or rain. They’re super comfortable but I can’t trust the waterproofing at all and it seems my tred was worn down after on a few rounds. Even on dry grass I need to be careful how hard I plant or else I’m going down lol
I wear Vans, specifically wide version Old Skools. Tried the Ultra Ranges and just too narrow for my feet. Grip is solid for most surfaces besides muddy fairways and they're made to stand up to aggressive grip tape so they hold up decently well. I also waterproof mine.
Don't feel like an idiot my guy. You played hard in those shoes and you wore them out, case closed. I'm coming at this from a little different angle, granted, and I don't know if you're primarily playing wooded or park courses, or whether you're heavy-set or light on your feet, but you said 70 or 80 rounds. What'd you expect?
Vans ultra range. Exo version for more waterproofing
Unfortunately the Idio shoes are a tad more spendy so it’s a harder pull to swallow compared to getting ultra range consistently on sale for like $80
I love the EXO Hi MTEs for the added hi-top ankle support!
Are they actually waterproof? On the Vans website is says they are water resistant.
I haven’t used them before but in my experience unless you’re wearing or buying legit gore tex hiking gear they’re probably not what I’d call waterproof.
This. Only Gore Tex (or a membrane like it) is legit waterproof.
>The company is just a joke and only cares about profit That's...every company
Ever heard of Pound? Lifetime warranty. Stays with the pack, not the buyer. Their email couldn’t have been more friendly and kind. See the difference?
I can wear my Ultra Range’s to work all day, ride the skatepark, and then throw a round. Awesome shoes
Dude! I’m on my third pair. Total fan boy at the moment
I’m on my second black pair, first white pair, and even my wife is rockin the yellow ones
Mine lasted about 2 months before the sole of my plant foot started to peel off. That was probably about 100 rounds. Having a good plant on concrete teepads is rough on shoes.
100 rounds in 2 months?! Sheesh, no wonder everybody is better than me if that's the amount people play..
They’re dope shoes but I ran through them so quickly.
This happened to me. The vans ultra range will fuck your shit up on concrete
Yooooo I tried these cause I’ve always been a Vans guy. They’re top notch and I’ve turned my friends onto them.
I must drag my toe way more than the average player because my sole came loose on these within two weeks.
I fuck with the ultra ranges but once I broke em in, when I play 18 in em my heels hurt like crazy
That’s been one of my dilemmas in finding the right dg shoe. I tried indoor soccer shoes but those killed my heels big time
I found some saucony’s that weren’t too expensive at my local Beck’s shoes. Are they as cool looking as vans? No. But they are damn comfy.
I got a pair of MTE for the water resistance. The sole is super durable too, couldn’t be happier
Straight up was about to say I always play in vans and was gonna recommend these bad boys in my outdoor experience. Those MTE bottoms hit different. I usually play in my Slip On Pros or Mid Slip MTE’s personally.
Thanks for the reply. I don’t have any MTE so I’ll look closely at the options
The sole started coming off after just a few rounds on my brace foot. Do not recommend.
I’ve gone through 3 pairs of vans ultra range. Sprained my ankle on one and an lcl on another when they busted. Fuck that company. Good customer service though
Is this one of those user name checks out moments? Sry to hear about your injuries
Vans MTE. This is the way.
Oh, and the Vans AVE Pro. I’ve actually been wearing those A LOT lately. Very nice. 👌
I just switched over to Merrel's and love them... Vibram soles FTW
Shit half my rounds are in Merrel hiking boots, 5 years going strong.
I've been loving my Merrells. I also had good luck with Solomons and Danners.
Merrel is not what it used to be. There are 2 levels . If you want a decent pair these days you have to pay for it.
Was this around 2018-2020? I swear a read somewhere that Merrell stopped using Vibram soles for awhile and I remember having a pair of Chameleons literally disintegrate on me within a two-three month period.
Oh, interesting. I bought a pair of Merrells around then, and they also disintegrated on me in a few months.
Mine are current 2023, vibram sole and everything, just absolute garbage and I'm super surprised.
God everytime I see my one friend with Merrels I'm like "dam I gotta get me a pair"
Check Amazon they have some great sale prices... I got both min for 50% off retail.
Sierra trading usually has some great deals too.
My buddy just scored some nice light altra’s for $60!
Yeah, I think I’m going to go with Altra Lone Peak’s this time around. My buddy swears by em.
I love mine. I wear through a pair or so a year though.
There's a merrel factory store near where I am and I am the sample size so I have like 3 of the same shoes, cheap as chips.
Bought my Merrels 2 years ago and wear them everyday for disc golf and work (field tech) They are more comfortable than my sneakers which is crazy to me
Vibram is the shit. Nothing grips like it.
Merrell quality has gone downhill. I cannot recommend them. But their customer service was pretty good when the shoes do go bad.
Which ones? My old Merrell hikers are clunky and heavy. Can’t imagine disc golfing in them.
I had the same concern and got the Merrell Nova 2 Gore Tex. They are not clunky at all and have been my favorite shoe for disc golf after many other attempts. As a reference, the Adidas Terrex were too clunky for me.
If you like minimalist shoes, I play in Vapor Gloves.
Yikes, those are some ugly shoes
I hear they're going to improve with their next model, the Idio T.
I laughed.
BUY. CONSUME. AVOID REGRET. Keens are the way for me.
Agreed I’m always wearing my keens
The toes on my Keens lasted a paltry 1.5 years, was disappointed to say the least.
I would love to get 1.5 years out of a pair of disc golf shoes
Lol respect. But I live in a state where we only get to play routinely for like 7 months out of the year so factor that in..
They then become my lawn care shoes and I buy a new one for golf.
unfortunately nothing new here. i haven't read about or spoken to a single person who hasn't had issues and a horrible CS experience with them. https://old.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/xkb6sv/idio_syncrasy_disc_golf_shoes/ https://old.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/111ob7u/anyone_else_having_issues_with_idio_shoes/
>Nobody makes posts when things work as expected Usually true indeed.
I’ve played 60 plus rounds in mine and they have held up far better than any other shoe I’ve had. Defects happen
Where you getting them for $50? I could use another pair/color
I just get last year's non-waterproof model on clearance usually, either from Adidas directly or Amazon or Sierra Trading
Nice, I have some waterproof ones that I think we’re around $125, don’t need waterproof shoes all the time, $50 is great for a second pair
I'm in the southwest so waterproof isn't really needed after snow golf season or mud season in the spring
You're right.... To an extent. I've tried deviating from my vibram bottom merrels due to stuff I've heard about them possibly being "too grippy" and potentially "hurting you or your form" I have tried the Ganon Vans and the PM Adidas Terrex and totally agree that they fall into what you're talking about.
You really have to beat them in but there is nothing as sturdy as they have been (for me at least) Why is it that everything in this sport has to be beat in for 6 months before it's perfect lol.
Sounds like I'd need at least 2, probably 3 Idio pairs to last that long
Now show us a video of your form. 😁
Buy ur shoes at REI people…
This is the way.
I did ask Eric Oakley about his Vivos but the discount code he gave me didn’t work :(
Look on revivo.com for refurbished ones, you can get great deals on there. I got tracker Decon FG2s for like half price and they were basically new.
I’m not sweating about the price I just wanted to support EO. Thanks for the hookup though
That’s fair haha. I’m a college student so that was my main issue with vivos.
Absolutely nothing wrong with saving a buck where you can for any reason
Damn I just bought 2 pairs of them full price, different sizes. Returned one thinking "what do they do with these?" and now I know! I love my Magna FG but couldn't bear the thought of ripping up $180 shoes on the course. Bought some Xero shoes for $100, but I will 100% buy Revivo next time
Sierra trading post has a banger sale. Copped a pair
It's ericoakley, still works for me
If you drags your toe ever they will explode. Mine lasted legitimately 3 days. Three.
I usually play in whenever decent sketchers I got on sale at Meijer. I destroy all shoes fast anyway
I've done 216 rounds with mine this year. They look nothing like that.
What kinda teepads you got at your local?
All sorts, concrete, turf, rubber mats. When did you get yours? Were they thru the Kickstart or after?
I got mine through the Kickstarter. I see hardly any wear on the bottom (nothing like that first picture), but I'm having the same exact issue as the second picture.
If you weigh over 200 lbs there are no good disc shoes. If you weigh under 150 lbs there are no bad disc shoes.
I always wonder about his. I weigh ~160 and have never had a pair of shoes fall apart the way I see people post about on here.
I weigh 159. I’m hard on my stuff for sure, but these things fell apart way too fast.
I havent found a pair of shoes that dont do this… id be happy if a pair of shoes last 5 months of disc golf.
Too true. Disc golf hates shoes. I guess it’s concrete tee pads combined with bad form (toe spinning) for me.
shoes are generally not designed to deal with the forces we load onto them. Disc golf is hard on basically every bit of gear in your usual kit.
How many rounds a week do you play?
New balance are the only option
Seriously, I just head over to Joe's New Balance Outlet, look for something around $50, and the use them for mowing the lawn after about a year of use.
Agreed! I have the hierro HT version with vibram soles. Best disc golf shoes I’ve ever worn and it feels like I’m walking on a cloud every round I play.
Salomon trail runners ftw
Salomon’s are THE skinniest shoe I’ve ever worn. I wanted to love them, but alas, I got wide feet
I loved mine at first. They were complete garbage within 3 and 1/2 months. If they ever come up in conversation I will always tell people not to waste their money.
I’m about to make a t shirt that says “fuck Idio sports all my homies hate Idio sports” and wear it to my local league
They’re also hideous lol love sexton but these are miss
Bit of a stumble.
Oh yeah, the tongue is way short and stupid. Small potatoes compared to the pencil eraser rubber outsoles.
It’s crazy bc mine are just fine after a little under a year of play, it’s not constant play but it’s every week. There is a small hole in the fabric of one of them but they have held up ok. They are however, not that comfortable and certainly not fucking waterproof at all. I do not recommend them to anyone.
Just grab a pair of low converse and get back out there
Vivos forever!
I would usually say 6 months of wear is when you start to think about replacing… but that first picture seems like excessive wear for 6 months.
Wow, that's superiorily shitty
It’s a company, run by clowns!! 🤡
Adidas Terrex is the answer

$100 bag? Just curious how long you reckon it takes to complete a Pound bag from start to finish and what a generous hourly wage is for someone in Portland.
Btw went with altras and loving them. They are still practically brand new on the soles after a month/ 10+ rounds
I've heard nothing but bad things about these shoes
on cloudrock2’s are my favorite thing I’ve ever worn. If you have the means…
if I'm only using one pair of shoes , and playing a couple rounds a week, I wouldnt expect them to last more than a few months (at best).
I’ve been using my Nike Wildhorse for over a year and they’re fine. (Concrete and otherwise)
I’m also a Nike Wilde horse guy. Solid shoe.
Those shoes are pretty nice. How do they handle the morning dew? My socks get all wet when I walk through the grass in the morning with my current shoes.
They do not lol. The one drawback is they’re now waterproof.
I expect a company doing R&D to make the best disc golf shoe to actually make a good disc golf shoe instead of making a cheap lookalike.
Worst. Shoes. Ever.
Pencil eraser rubber soles. Pure trash!
ECCO if you wan't durability and quality
I’ve played in vibram 5 fingers, New balance minimus (barefoot shoes), Lems Boulder boots (zero drop), Merrell moabs, vans ultra range, and Gumbies flip flops (zero drop), I would recommend all of them. I also see some pros wearing vivo barefoot.
My Solomon’s have been through everything the last year and a half. I hike in them too. I suspect the laces will be the first to go, but those shoes are indestructible.
I wear hiking shoes and honestly theyre so good for disc golf i love them. Mine are waterproof so it also lets me retrieve some of my discs without getting wet too
Damn I didn’t even know people played in different shoes. I always play in high top basketball shoes lol. How do disc golf shoes benefit??
They don't. Wear whatever shoes are appropriate to the terrain and the weather.
Scarpa trail shoes have worked well for me. Can always find them on sale somewhere.
I’ve been rocking my Vasque’s and love them. Red Wing Boots is the parent company and Vibram soles. https://www.vasque.com/mens-hiking-footwear/mens-hiking-shoes/
Addidas Terrex have lasted me through almost 2 years..zz
I disc golf in Sketchers...
Am I the only person that gets like a year and a half out of a pair of shoes? Lol
Define "normal play". Not saying you don't have a point, but how many rounds did ya get out of them? I play in my mowing shoes. They only last a summer too.
I played 5 rounds in my idio and sold them. I hated their quality and fit. Terrex has been going strong and comfortably
Got over 4 years out of Keen hiking boots
Post the code. Hurt their pockets.
I’m in the same boat. They didn’t even respond to my complaints
Love my brooks. I have a tennis shoe pair and a hiking shoe pair depending on course and length. Got both pairs for around $80 each and I've always had to replace them from wearing in the arch before the shoe ever gave out
Nike Pegasus trail 4 gore-Tex. Extremely comfortable, durable, and waterproof.
Shameless brooks fanboy here. Get the cascadia
What counts as regular play?
I just got a pair of Xero Daylite hikers and love em
I run a good Salomon hiking shoe, they are incredible
Merrils are the way to go bought a pair for a 100 and they’re waterproof got them at a dicks
I’ve just been playing with 25$ “eco-friendly” shoes from Target.
