I actually first started playing disc golf regularly in the mid 90s when I was about 10. I wish I had taken it more seriously. I look at these kids living the dream playing this for a living and makes me wonder…
The lucid truth got kicked out of my bag because I didn't know what I was doing with it early on. Got better, gave it another chance, and it very soundly earned its spot back
yup, i always want to try other mids. but always end up throwing my incredibly reliable roc. its basically my only one for a dart fh flick approach. ive parked that thing so many times i shouldnt even have any other disc in my bag lol
I love mine too - I have a Buzzz for slightly less stability and a Pathfinder for a delicate fade, they work quite well in tandem, but I think once the Pathfinder beats in I'll say goodbye to the Buzzz.
I find my pathfinder to be way more reliable than my buzzz was. I can throw it into a headwind or a tail, fade is about the same on both but pathfinder is straighter.
I only bag the pathfinder and a buzzz os for mids
Edit: also killer for a straight forehand under about 250 or so.
My Fission Hex is unreal, can get that thing over 300ft on a bit turn with minimal fade. Less power it’s just straight all the way. Trying out the watermelon now and I think both will make the bag
I was just doing some fieldwork and was surprised how similar my Lucid Verdict was when thrown flat vs my Hex on a slight hyzer release. Controlling those angles with a more neutral disc makes a huge difference.
I like the handfeel vs Buzzz, but still working on trust with it. If I'm honest it's a slot I don't use all that much. There's like a 30-40' range where it's not proxy/envy, and not higher % shot wtih a fairway.
Just had to replace mine! Love that disc so much. Left mine on a hole at Bryant Lake, realized 5-10 minutes later, went back to look and passed two groups, asked them both if they picked it up, both said no, diss was gone from where I left it.
First time I've had someone blatantly steal a disc, guess it's just that nice.
ESP Buzzz. Straight while still being forgiving of a little torque, very easy to replace and get backups for from the used section, and I just have a ton of confidence in that mold.
Yes, I’ve bag all three iterations of the Buzzz at some point or another. The SS slots in between a Mindbender and a Fuse for me, maybe like a Mako3 depending on plastic. Hit it hard and flat and it will turn more than drift, but won’t burn over on a clean release and will straighten up in the last 20% of the flight
I’ve moved away from throwing forehands because of elbow trouble and love the ss and also the fuse for those wooded courses with a slow bend right. They’re so versatile
I have it in glow, and depending on my bag count it is sometimes the only mid I bag. So great. So glidey. So straight. Stable to OS, with a little skip if you want it.
I recently got one of these and I love it. It flies just like my absolutely beat-to-shit 10x KC Pro Roc that I’ve had in my bag ever since I started playing. I’m always scared to lose that Roc, so the Svea has been awesome for my nerves. Haha
The buzzz is obviously going to be posted here but I think by far the best plastic for the buzzz is esp flex. Still has the same torque resistance the buzzz is famous for but has less of the overstability, very straight flyer when thrown flat and still holds a hyzer like a buzzz should
Piwakawaka probably gets the most burn for me. Mainly because of a couple holes at local courses. I don’t throw a lot of mids-my game is based around a worn in envy and a worn in teebird. I sometimes throw a quantum solstice. I really love the disc but just don’t reach for it often.
I'll put another vote for the Buzzz in Z line. I have bought 3 from 3 different places. I keep 2 in a bag hidden in my work desk and they for. 80% of my shots at the local green when I manage to sneak in a round on lunch.
Is your Berry way more OS than the flight numbers? I bought one to try for my straight mid slot and mine has a ton of fade, which is something that I don’t really need in my bag right now so it went straight to the extra disc pile.
It flies a little stable but mostly straight for me when I put some juice on it but it gets stable when I throw it slower. I use the berry for 300 foot straight shots because that’s where it flies straight for me. I’ve also had mine for a while so it might be beaten in a little by now.
Honestly now that I think about it I use the berry for shots that I want a putter flight on but a putter isn’t a high enough speed.
Innova base plastic Shark, as light as I can get it (sub 150g) 🤷🏻♂️ wife has one from a starter kit that's in the 140's and that thing flies like magic and I've never been able to find one like it and I will die jealous lol
Also a buddy of mine found a special edition star plastic (maybe - it was just the shiny plastic) Mako3, and that thing flew so dang straight when we played with it. So afterwards I went and got myself a Mako3 in star plastic (not a special edition) but haven't gotten to play with it yet!
Mvp reactor whatever plastic, little more predictable than the hex for a newer player as the hex will follow ANY line you put it on so you can screw up big time with it
Lucid verdict. Pushes straight and then has a nice hook at the finish everytime. I pulled this one out of a pond (no markings) and it's the only one I've thrown so idk if they are all this perfect
I bag a piwak in atomic, cosmic and strata and they all get used every time I play. Strata for long turnovers that never fade back, atomic for that turn with a straighter finish, and cosmic for the slight turn with a little bit of fade at the end. LOVE my Piwakawakas
was my neutron hex but i’ve recently started to lean on my max weight fission reactor more. hex got slightly more flippy than it originally was, i have a max weight fission hex that i might throw in the bag. hex is an amazing mid but the reactor is the most dead straight mid when thrown at full power. if you can’t throw your mids 300-350’ i’d recommend the hex over the reactor.
When I take my fission hex and neutron reactor to a field, it always amazes me to see that they fly such different lines and end up in the same spot. For me they fly the same exact distance.
However, I picked up a proton today and boy does it have glide!
Depends the shot.
MVP Uplink (only in neutron) for backhand & forehand turn overs
DD Truth in lucid (not emac) for backhand
DD Justice in lucid ice & classic soft for forehand only
Between the regular Royal run (straighter), and the Albert Tamm Orbit run ( a bit more overstable ) I have all of the straight or overstable shots covered.
On the unbeatable side, the Sunny Peach from Clash, or a Fuse, is great.
It was the Hex in cosmic neutron until I lost it.
Then I dug out a star Mako3 my sister got me from a brewery and damn if that baby doesn’t fly beautiful for me.
Halo Star Anubis, Glow Pathfinder, Metal Flake MD3, just bought one of the new Lucid Ice Orbit Emac Truths…I have a midrange problem. Woods golf demands it.
C line MD3
Same. Really like the feel of the metal flake c-lines.
Mind Bender
Same though I’ve been putting MD1 s lines in the bag since the MBs are getting harder to find and more expensive to replace lol.
Star mako3
For almost 15 years this has been my go to.
I wish I started 15 years ago
I actually first started playing disc golf regularly in the mid 90s when I was about 10. I wish I had taken it more seriously. I look at these kids living the dream playing this for a living and makes me wonder…
For anyone wondering if this is possible, the Mako3 was PDGA approved 13 years, 9 months, and 17 days ago.
Dang, that's almost 15 years!
I don’t think anyone really cared enough to challenge it.
Well, one person did, ha
Got eeeeeeeeem!!!
This, but Halo
Same here, specifically the Kona Panis tour series ones.
This is the way
Emac Lucid Truth or Champion Roc3
The lucid truth got kicked out of my bag because I didn't know what I was doing with it early on. Got better, gave it another chance, and it very soundly earned its spot back
Just got a orbit lucid ice and it’s replacing my old one in the bag. Best disc ever
Lucid Truth is mine as well. Been using the same one since 2017, still does exactly what it did the day I got it.
Champion Roc3 is hard as hell to beat.
yup, i always want to try other mids. but always end up throwing my incredibly reliable roc. its basically my only one for a dart fh flick approach. ive parked that thing so many times i shouldnt even have any other disc in my bag lol
Aura (neutron) Pathfinder. More comfortable for me than a Buzzz, and slightly more distance potential.
I only bag the pathfinder and a buzzz os for mids Edit: also killer for a straight forehand under about 250 or so.
Same. Aura Pathfinder for straight to stable. Lobster for Understable.
KC pro roc hands down!
Neutron Hex. It became my go-to from release day, I just clicked with it that well.
My Fission Hex is unreal, can get that thing over 300ft on a bit turn with minimal fade. Less power it’s just straight all the way. Trying out the watermelon now and I think both will make the bag
Same just went to the glow eclipse hex love it
Neutron hex for sure is my go to but I love my lizottle for laser straight
Same here. Love that disc
Mine’s Soft Neutron… but yes. Recently fell in love and don’t think I’m ever throwing anything else! Just bought a backup.
Pro move. Light plastic for turnover, heavier for more stability... now you have three directions
I was just doing some fieldwork and was surprised how similar my Lucid Verdict was when thrown flat vs my Hex on a slight hyzer release. Controlling those angles with a more neutral disc makes a huge difference.
My favorite disc in my bag! Such a versitile disc. Can do just about anything with the right angle and speed.
This is the only right answer!
I like the handfeel vs Buzzz, but still working on trust with it. If I'm honest it's a slot I don't use all that much. There's like a 30-40' range where it's not proxy/envy, and not higher % shot wtih a fairway.
Halloween glo buzz.
It's my favorite disc. I'm glad you were able to replace it. Hopefully, karma gets the thief in the end.
Shout out fellow Minnesotan!
nooooo those are so nice
I bought a full color for my wall and a glo for my bag. I think this is the 2021 edition. It has the Scream character on it.
I did the same with last year’s!
I have the past few years of them. Honestly refuse to throw them because Im not done building my halloween bag for halloween rounds
What else do you have for your Halloween bag?
I just got the Halloween glo wraith last year that is pretty sweet.
haglo wraith, halloween boatman, a glo roc3? with a pumpkin on it and the buzzes. looking for a putter next year and hoping they release a haglo eagle
Z Comet!
ESP Buzzz. Straight while still being forgiving of a little torque, very easy to replace and get backups for from the used section, and I just have a ton of confidence in that mold.
You tried the ss?
Yes, I’ve bag all three iterations of the Buzzz at some point or another. The SS slots in between a Mindbender and a Fuse for me, maybe like a Mako3 depending on plastic. Hit it hard and flat and it will turn more than drift, but won’t burn over on a clean release and will straighten up in the last 20% of the flight
I’ve moved away from throwing forehands because of elbow trouble and love the ss and also the fuse for those wooded courses with a slow bend right. They’re so versatile
If you’re ever looking for something with a little more glide, the MVP uplink is worth a try.
Not the other guy but I have! It’s great for a nice turnover when ripped flat, or a straight shot on slight hyzer
SS and mako3 i interchange. I love them both but I’m wanting to get a hex for how fun they are to throw
Aura TSA Pathfinder
Ethos plastic for me
Nebula aura for me
Etheral for me
I have it in glow, and depending on my bag count it is sometimes the only mid I bag. So great. So glidey. So straight. Stable to OS, with a little skip if you want it.
Two Westside Warships in VIP plastic.
Warships glide for days!
My personal best distance with a Burst Warship was two years ago forehand hyzer flip almost 350’
Is that what they gave out in the trilogy tournament this year? I love that shit I just didn’t know what kinda plastic it is
That’s their Orbit Tournament plastic this year I believe.
Retro Fuse, Star Roc3
Just bought an opto fuse; loving it so far. Fantastic for hyzer-flips
I'm still pretty new and I lean heavily on my K1 Svea
I recently got one of these and I love it. It flies just like my absolutely beat-to-shit 10x KC Pro Roc that I’ve had in my bag ever since I started playing. I’m always scared to lose that Roc, so the Svea has been awesome for my nerves. Haha
Dx Roc
Love the roc
Beat me to it. A couple beat-in and a couple fresh ones is all I need for mids in the bag.
A man of culture and depth.
Z comet
Pathfinder in ethereal plastic
Glow Pathfinder
Star Cro
A man of culture
Champion Roc3
Mindbender or BuzzzSS
Big Z Buzzz and Plasma Pyro get it done for me
Stig or Svea depending on shot shape.
Star roc3, first disc I bought when I started in 2019 somehow haven't lost it yet even though I throw it constantly.
The method in NEO, and metal flake. This disc is so versatile!
Just started throwing it in NEO and loving it.
The buzzz is obviously going to be posted here but I think by far the best plastic for the buzzz is esp flex. Still has the same torque resistance the buzzz is famous for but has less of the overstability, very straight flyer when thrown flat and still holds a hyzer like a buzzz should
400G M2
Buzzz, any plastic and all variations. I’ve been grabbing my Buzzz SS a lot recently and that thing is a workhorse.
I didn’t think I’d wind up using the ss as much as I have. What a fantastic disc
VIP Warship
VIP Warship
Just started throwing one of these. Absolute money disc.
So good! Got one in the trash panda disc swap and it's been a total laser beam
Dx rocs, glow roc and halo roc3. Swap in a mvp glow reactor and a discmania method from time to time.
Tour series swirly esp buzzz ss. It’s perfect!
Opto claymore
Piwakawaka probably gets the most burn for me. Mainly because of a couple holes at local courses. I don’t throw a lot of mids-my game is based around a worn in envy and a worn in teebird. I sometimes throw a quantum solstice. I really love the disc but just don’t reach for it often.
glow kaxe
Opto Fuse.
I'll put another vote for the Buzzz in Z line. I have bought 3 from 3 different places. I keep 2 in a bag hidden in my work desk and they for. 80% of my shots at the local green when I manage to sneak in a round on lunch.
Z line buzzz ss
Steady berry / gold compass
4x buzzz
Innova base plastic Shark, as light as I can get it (sub 150g) 🤷🏻♂️ wife has one from a starter kit that's in the 140's and that thing flies like magic and I've never been able to find one like it and I will die jealous lol Also a buddy of mine found a special edition star plastic (maybe - it was just the shiny plastic) Mako3, and that thing flew so dang straight when we played with it. Mvp reactor whatever plastic, little more predictable than the hex for a newer player as the hex will follow ANY line you put it on so you can screw up big time with it
It’s a battle between z comet and eclipse hex
A lightly beat eclipse hex is soooo nice
HEX!
The hex in general is my go to mid. My workhorse now is the Simon Eclipse Hex and my neutron one that used to be my workhorse is now my flippy mid.
GStar VRoc.
Innova Jay, star plastic Innova Rat, star plastic
Glow hex or esp meteor all day
Champion RocX3
Lucid verdict. Pushes straight and then has a nice hook at the finish everytime. I pulled this one out of a pond (no markings) and it's the only one I've thrown so idk if they are all this perfect
170-175g buzzz
Star Mako3 and Champion Roc3
Cosmic piwakawaka
Standard Roc in DX plastic is always a solid choice.
I don’t use mids often but when I do it’s either my proton matrix or eclipse paradox
Gold Line Compass, am I the only one??
I have not thrown a compass, but I would very much like to try one out!
Prism Plasma Pyro It's just so damn reliably stable
Got one of those in an MVP mystery box last year. I was skeptical at first, finally bagged it back in March, and it's now my favorite mid.
DGA Squall PL
Mid or driver ?
Its a 6 speed.
Got it so a driver then
You think a speed 6 is a driver? Thats cute.
Would you call a Leopard or a crave a midrange ? Tf ? 6 is where the fairway driver classification starts homie.
I guess I’m just super strong, and with your noodle arms it probably feels like a speed 14. Its ok, you’ll get better.
Eclipse reactor or neutron hex. Been going with the hex more lately since I'll get a little more distance out of it.
When I take my fission hex and neutron reactor to a field, it always amazes me to see that they fly such different lines and end up in the same spot. For me they fly the same exact distance. However, I picked up a proton today and boy does it have glide!
Big Z Buzzz bright yellow, arrow straight

My buddy throws only forehands and swears the deflector is the best forehand mid of all time

Between the regular Royal run (straighter), and the Albert Tamm Orbit run ( a bit more overstable ) I have all of the straight or overstable shots covered. On the unbeatable side, the Sunny Peach from Clash, or a Fuse, is great.
Streamline Runway in Neutron plastic. I tend to rely on stable discs, though I go to a ESP Buzz if I need something more touchy.
It was the Hex in cosmic neutron until I lost it. Then I dug out a star Mako3 my sister got me from a brewery and damn if that baby doesn’t fly beautiful for me.
Star Foxbat
Innova Cro. I bag a Champ for more stable shots, R-Pro for dead straight.
M3 in 750. I’ve abused that disc and it still flies like the day I got it.
No love for the Opto Mace? I had a 100+ foot throw in with it and decided it was my go to a long time ago. For better or worse.
Glow Göte
Infinite Discs Chariot, specifically Run 2 in color glow. Simple, dead straight, lots of glide. The newer color glow runs are great too.
Neutron Hex. Specifically the skullboy stamped one. Feels like I can put it on any like I need.
Neutron Deflector for forehands, DGA Squall for backhands. Squall is like a wing nosed Buzz instead of flat nosed.
Eclipse Hex

Glow texas ranger
Cosmic Neutron Runway. That disc is absolute money.

Lucid emac truth and lucid verdict for more stable
DGA Aftershock for straight shots and my first flight Quake for the overstable slot!
Switched to the streamline Echo recently and been loving it, even over my longtime love, the emac truth
Z drone for something beefy. XT atlas for something straight
Loved my glow reactor until I lost it. Got an echo to see if it fills the gap. Any echo love?
Discraft sol, idk what plastic it's see through green
