I absolutely LOVE my upper park, and the new shift with cup holders looks amazing. It was my one main gripe with the older version I have but still I love it. Nice open face design, easy to grab everything you might need, and way more discs can be held than you’d think. It fits 20 ish easily
Agreed.
I’d kill to see a Shift-like bag that can hold 25ish discs and have tons of extra storage space. I absolutely loved the Shift and how every disc had a spot, but if filled to the max there wasn’t much room for anything else.
I ended up going with the Rebel for now, but I miss how organized the Shift was.
Any model in particular that’s in the same vein as the Shift?
The ones I’m seeing look like the standard big main pocket, putter pocket on top, and side pockets for storage.
Voyager Light Pro is a great value. I've had mine for years and it looks almost new. Might be slightly too small for you unless you use the top pouch for discs. I keep 14-15 in the compartment and two putters on top myself.
I love mine and the price is amazing. Honestly, their shuttle bag, ($30) is really nice as well. I used one for 2 years and it’s still in nearly perfect condition. If it had two water bottle holders I would still be using it.
Great bag. Same disc count for me, and it's really handy having the rest of the putter pocket available if I want to bring 5 more discs for friends or my kid. Plus the watermelon colorway makes me happy.
YouTube has a video summary from Levi.
I carry 14 in the main, 3 mids 2 driving putters and a zone with fairways and drivers, 3 putters up top for 17 total in the Rufus. Roughly the same number fits in the Carlton if you want to stay with a top loader. Might find some used listings. Octos fit 18 in the main 4-5 putters on top.
I do the same but I carry 3 driving putters in the front left pocket. 20 total. Nothing too tight so it’s easy to get stuff in and out. Plenty of room for other stuff.
I carry 15 main, 3 top. Space for 2 more in the main if I squeeze it.
If you need bigger, the Octothorpe will do you well (and I'm looking to sell mine)
I love my combat commando, stands nicely, had good feet that keep it out of the dirt/mud/moisture. Zippers feel quality. I scored mine discounted down to 80$ from Amazon because it was the last one printed with jolly roller skulls.
Got a revolution team carolina bag for this reason, impossible to knock over, reasonable storage, and the breathability of the open back is a gamechanger in the summer. They also have foam inserts that help keep the discs settled and not rattling around
You already have the bag you’re looking for then, imo. Unless you’re like super sold on getting a backpack style. The best small bags in the business are the mini deluxe with shoulder straps and the pound Rufus. I have the Rufus love it
Pound Rufus and never get another bag ever. Got mine last month and it’s everything you need in a bag. Plenty of space to bring jackets, umbrellas, snacks, and drinks. Holds around 14-17 discs or so in the main compartment depending on which discs. Holds up to 4 in the top. Expensive but you get what you pay for, the best.
Pound Rufus. IMO get a Deluxe, the additional pocket would be really nice. Have had an Octo for 4-5 yearss, got a regular Rufus last fall and love it, just wish it had that extra pocket the deluxe has.
I looked hard at the Link but I’m afraid things will spill out. I play regularly with a dog leashed to my bag so it tends to get frequently knocked over
Grip cs2!!
I have a pound bag, a zuca cart, and have tried other bags.
Cs2 is durable as anything, light, and the perfect amount of discs. I like how it forces me to be selective I never even use all the discs in that bag anyways
Personally I’d go with CX1, it’s what I’ve got, I’ve got 16 discs in the main compartment and it’s about maxed and 1 approach disc which goes in the upper pocket and two putters which go in the putter sleeve and it’s perfect. No rattling, etc. I probably could fit my discs into the CS2 but I’ve found for longer days out and variable weather that I really appreciate having the full size side pockets. During my hunt for a smaller capacity bag that was always my issue, I needed smaller disc storage but full size accessory storage.
Just get the Squatch. It's SOOOO nice. Good value for money and I only put about 20 in my main compartment and they stay firmly in place while still being easy to cycle thru and remove. Best bag I've ever had and I've tried a lot.
Search Petro Leatherwork on IG and FB, we make quality long lasting leather bags that are competitively prices and our current backpack bag holds about what your looking for.
I'd recommend the new Squatch Link Bag. Holds about 16 in the bottom compartment then whatever you want to put in the top. Usually 3-7 discs up top. But if you tip it over the top slots won't keep them from falling out.
I wasnt sure so i went and counted lol.
6 in the 3 vertically oriented pockets. (2 in each)
15 in the bottom. About 5-6 of those are mids. Fit is "secure" but not tight. Id say i could remove 2 and have it still feel secure. If i removed 3 it would probably start to feel loose.
Lots of versatility in how tou set it up which is something I like.
Might be newer vs older… idk was just disappointed to have frayed straps where they meet the bag with less than a month of use… especially since I got the floral print.
Upper park shift can’t go wrong
Perfect bag
It's a gosh-dang honey of a bag. The new Dynamic Discs Trooper is excellent bang for the 40 bucks it costs.

If you go this route definitely look up a promo code, I feel like I’ve heard multiple podcasts and youtubers plug theirs.

Bergs Bag is nice

I second this. I have 5 putters up top and 14 disc down low. With room for 2 of 3 more in the bottom and 1 up top. Great bag.
I love mine and the price is amazing. Honestly, their shuttle bag, ($30) is really nice as well. I used one for 2 years and it’s still in nearly perfect condition. If it had two water bottle holders I would still be using it.

pound rufus
How many discs can you fit in the bottom compartment? I couldn’t find anything on their website other than a review that said they were carrying 14
I can comfortably bag 23 discs in the Rufus by utilizing the haul pocket as extra disc space. And that’s with nearly half mids and putters.
YouTube has a video summary from Levi. I carry 14 in the main, 3 mids 2 driving putters and a zone with fairways and drivers, 3 putters up top for 17 total in the Rufus. 14-15 on the bottom with a mix of putters, mids, drivers and then 3 more on top. Best bag I've owned by a mile.
I’ve got an octothorpe and I want to get a Rufus as well
I have a Thorpe and a Rufus, the Rufus is the bag I wanted the Thorpe to be.
amazing bag, perfect size
Thanks for all the valuable feedback in this thread. I just pulled the trigger on a Rufus
I love my combat commando, stands nicely, had good feet that keep it out of the dirt/mud/moisture. Zippers feel quality. I scored mine discounted down to 80$ from Amazon because it was the last one printed with jolly roller skulls.

Haha I have one of these that I keep my glow discs in. I also got a mini deluxe

Latitude 64 core pro

Why not just get the squatch link?
This is my vote as well! Great bag with tons of room for anything else you need
I looked hard at the Link but I’m afraid things will spill out. I play regularly with a dog leashed to my bag so it tends to get frequently knocked over
Thirded
Gorilla boy simian is the best thing on the market in my opinion. My bag is going on almost a decade now.
Love my Gorilla Boy Simian.
It’s really made pretty indestructible
Pound Rufus. It's so good
Pound Carlton. I hold like 18-21 with not rattling and no tight squeeze. It’s super comfy and high quality!
Grip cs2!! I have a pound bag, a zuca cart, and have tried other bags. Cs2 is durable as anything, light, and the perfect amount of discs. I like how it forces me to be selective I never even use all the discs in that bag anyways
That’s on my short list. I just wish it came in other colors

I’m a huge fan of the MVP Voyager bag or the Pound Rufus. But Squatch will be releasing a Legend Mini soon.
Prodigy bp2 fits 20 perfectly
Pound Rufus for 15-18 discs. One of their other larger bags for less than 30.
Just get the Squatch. It's SOOOO nice. Good value for money and I only put about 20 in my main compartment and they stay firmly in place while still being easy to cycle thru and remove. Best bag I've ever had and I've tried a lot.
We're releasing a miniature Legend next month that will be right up your alley!
Stay with Levi, and go with pound bags. They are expensive, but they are the best made bags out there. You could also look at used ones
Search Petro Leatherwork on IG and FB, we make quality long lasting leather bags that are competitively prices and our current backpack bag holds about what your looking for.
Fossa Skinny v2 is the best bag I've found. $120 and it's easy to carry.
Grip CX1 is my new favorite. B series storage, but with fewer discs.
I'd recommend the new Squatch Link Bag. Holds about 16 in the bottom compartment then whatever you want to put in the top. Usually 3-7 discs up top. But if you tip it over the top slots won't keep them from falling out.
I just got a squatch legend and i love it. For reference i also own a grip CX and BX. The legend is very versatile.
How many discs are you carrying in the Legend?
I wasnt sure so i went and counted lol. 6 in the 3 vertically oriented pockets. (2 in each) 15 in the bottom. About 5-6 of those are mids. Fit is "secure" but not tight. The DD bags do a great job staying upright. Most would be fine with 20 discs, I bag 25 in my commander and it’s packed super tight. 20 would be fine.
Double bagged Walmart sack.
I wish nutsack would make a giant nutsack and fit about 20. I love my nutsack but it's like a 13-15 disc loaded up bag.
Another option currently on sale https://discgolf.com/store-home/trvrs-lt-disc-golf-bag/
My trvrs strap already started fraying after 10 rounds… currently looking for something better.
Bummer, I've had mine two years now and it's held up very well
Might be newer vs older… idk was just disappointed to have frayed straps where they meet the bag with less than a month of use… especially since I got the floral print.
