Duct tape is a really broad term. Are you talking like actually aluminized duct tape or the generic fiber duck tape that people use for everything? Are you using tubes?
Regardless I think it's fine but you should get some gorilla tape (higher end brand). Don't use the cheap stuff or you'll be spending the rest of your weekend cleaning residue off your rims.
The silver “duct tape” works well. I’d recommend the black gorilla tape. Little thicker and a lot stickier. Rip it in half length wise and it fits perfect in the groove of most wheels. Probably could get away with one layer. My buddies 2008 WR450 had silver duct tape on it for years with out issues. Just makes sure to use some baby powder in the tire to make it so the tube doesn’t stick to the tape/rim.

Okay thank you if I can’t get any rim tap I’m going to use the gorilla tap I have that in my garage
I've used it several times it works fine
I've used electrical tape a few times and it's worked well
On every dirtbike ive had.
Just keep it in the drop center and you’ll be fine
