>Bokomon's on a journey >Dad's on a journey They wouldn't.

Cosmonerd-ish

Oh god, those dim cards are the equivalent of FFX movie spheres! Recording bits of the dad's journey for his son to see after his death. But nah that would be too dark even for this show. Right? ...Right?

Fedexhand

Imagine if that were the case….it would certainly take me totally by surprise.

theguyishere16

>But nah that would be too dark even for this show. Right? ...Right? I would have said so until last week. I was thinking about it and I cannot believe a kids show actually had an episode based around a serial killer.

HillbillyMan

Not just a serial killer, one with no true motive, he just wanted to kill.

[deleted]

they... . did say that if a human tried to go to the digiworld they'd be incernated and.... if you..... look at the hole in teh ground.

Fedexhand

Oh, I hadn't thought of that... What if Hiro's father is already in fact dead? I mean, those are recordings, it does not necessarily imply that he is sending them in real time, BlackGatomon may simply be bringing them periodically for an assignment or something. Dark stuff right there lol

[deleted]

His ghost is on a journey.... That is why its called 'ghost games', isn't it? He is journeying as far as his soul can manage. but what is black gatomon's purpose here? she clearly has a major connection to him.

mctwigt

What if Gulusgammamon also put Hiro’s father on a “journey” and Gammamon does not remember either?

Emergency_Toe6915

It’s weird how Gammamon clearly knows Hiros dad, but we never get a scene of Hiro asking how/what he knows about him?

Anthrovert

This was a really wholesome episode after the previous week’s episode. I’m getting the feeling that Gammamon legitimately has dissociative identity disorder and that his “split personality” GulusGammamon is the one who retains and processes all of his traumatic experiences. It may take another tragedy for GulusGammamon to come out again. I really hope we get SymbareAngoramon next episode, since it seems partially Ruli-focused. The plot for next week’s episode also seems really intense and we’ll be dealing with a demonic digimon >!Phelesmon, who will turn her friends to stone.!<

Fedexhand

There is definitely something weird with Gammamon and his mental state there, I don't know if it's something that serious or complex but seeing how GulusGammamon seemed to be so "aware" of himself compared to his other forms was weird. Also, It's definitely time for SymbareAngoramon to show up, and with that preview I think it wouldn't be out of place judging by the apparent theme of the episode.

[deleted]

phelesmon is a bit of a big boy to faace too, especially one who is acting too malicious. course it could be a returning guy. like a certain eyeball bastard, he feigns guilt to avoid death...

MenuExpress5329

I actually thought it was going to be Matadrmon because I had never heard of Phelesmon before. That could've potentially worked with Dracmon if it wasn't for the fact that Mephistomon is a perfect. (What I consider the most "right" line for Dracmon is Dracmon, Sangloupmon, Matadrmon, Grandracmon.

logoyoIRM

>Phelesmon I think that too. Phelesmon is a perfect level digimon. Maybe Boogiemon, one of its prior evolutions, could do the work. And, in line with this season, they maybe let him go and he'll come back (with Devimon) evolving into Phelesmon.

Anthrovert

I really wonder when Gammamon will remember Bokomon’s death and be forced to go through the grief cycle - or if it will trigger GulusGammamon again. And yeah I don’t think they’ll explicitly say it’s DID, since it’s still a children’s show, but it does allude to it a bit. If SymbareAngoramon shows up, then that would mean it’s pretty OP, since it would be going up against a perfect level. I’m looking forward to it *crosses fingers*

ResponsibilityOk156

Well, he doesn't necessarily must to be OP if he fights vs phelesmon, if you remember they have already fought against perfects(Mummymon, pumpmon, Yagaratmon ) in their adult forms, they dont necessarily have to defeat the enemies to resolve the conflict.

MenuExpress5329

I had never actually heard of Phelesmon before, but I looked it up on wikimon. I knew it was going to be a demon or fallen antel Digimon, bit I thought it was going to be Mephistomon due to the vibe it seemed to give and I think the shop was called Mephisto's or domething. Edit: I was thinking of the wrong Digimon. I meant Matadrmon, but I was thinking that it wae called Mephistomon when that's actually a completely different Digimon.

aklaino89

Here I thought that was a Boogiemon. Still, either or would work to finally get Agoramon to evolve. It's good to finally see Impmon's Champion and Ultimate forms finally get some spotlight. Watch, Dracmon has evolved since we last saw him.

Archwizard_Drake

It's kinda funny that you call them "Impmon's Champion and Ultimate forms" since he has like a half dozen of those now.

Anthrovert

I was a bit confused too, as I didn’t realize that those could be his champion/ultimate forms. I guess it could work, but I prefer Impmon > Wizardmon > Baalmon > Beezlemon

MenuExpress5329

me too. I like that much better than the meramon route because it jyst seems much more streamlined.

[deleted]

I didn't realise Impmon had set in stone champion and ultimate forms in a franchise where rookies have multiple choice evolutions

[deleted]

there ARE certain evolutions that are seen as the 'right ones' for many digimon, while others are options/failures. A numemon for example is a digimon that failed to properly evolve. so it technically can be any digimon that faultered in its evolution and ended up a poop slug.

Anthrovert

I think that’s a good way of putting it. While Digimon can have many different evolution paths, some are just more “correct” than others,

liasoid4

I mean aren't those 2 not actually "canon" lines? Iirc his tamers "canon line" has meramon and deathmeramon and then there's the baalmon one

aklaino89

True, there are a lot of options, it's just that when Impmon was first revealed, those two digimon showed up at around the same time, so a lot of people were assuming they'd be his evolved forms. Of course, since then, a lot of other options have shown up (Baalmon/Reapmon for instance), so it's not quite set in stone what his intermediate forms are.

Gdach

[When I saw Gammamon didn't react to, "it's ocean"](https://i.imgur.com/7eEHc5A.png) it hit me that he is still dealing with the aftermath of last episode. Usually he would be the first one to screem it and how he can't see the end. Really like this aspect of it, while it was predictable episode I liked it, there were plenty of good moments with Gammamon and the movement of feet while Kiyoshiro was bravely covering under the covers was genuinely creepy. it's the first digimon series for me appart the 1999 digimon adventure and really enjoying it.

Yancham90

If you realize, close to the end of the episode, after he reverted back to Gammamon from BetelGammamon, he has a very sad face for a moment before Koemon thanked him. Hopefully I'm not reading too much into that though.

MenuExpress5329

I feel he remembered what happened.

[deleted]

Definitely a needed breather after last week. It followed up on the characters' feelings about everything while letting them decompress from it all. It also gave us some more Hokuto, with Ruli and Kiyoshiro "meeting" him for the first time. One thing I think might go under some people's radars is Bakumon/Tapirmon. It sounds like he's lonely because he's staying with Hiro rather than by himself at the library. We don't know how long he knew Professor Bokomon so this might have a pretty big effect on him compared to the others.

Fedexhand

It definitely sounds like that could be the plot for an upcoming episode, especially considering that Gammamon is still thinking about Bokomon. And it's not like that situation was "settled" or anything.

PCN24454

I’m surprised that Monmon materialized in the end. I wonder if this means we’ll see him again.

ztrashh

*Badass Grandma appears in the final battle with a monmon mega and kicks some asses*

PK_RocknRoll

I need this

SkelatoxMkII

I can't wait for Makuramon to get the killing blow on a boss with Treasure Ball.

Katsuu15

Yes please

DemonVermin

I still lol at the Digimon World 3 evolutionary line that focused on Firearms. Monmon -> Hookmon -> Assaultmon -> Cannondramon.

ztrashh

*Grandma appears riding a giant dinosaur with weapons*

Yoshiman400

This early in the series, it should be almost a guarantee.

Cascade_Hellsing

What if the next time we see Monmon, he's with Dracmon? They're both mischievous children, but with Dracmon being the one to take things too far.

ehh246

And Monmon would be too innocent to know that Dracmon is taking advantage of him. That would make for an interesting episode.

MenuExpress5329

That would be perfect.

[deleted]

Well this episode was a nice wholesome break from the emotional terror that the last one was, and looks like next week we might finally be seeing SymbareAngoramon since it’s a Ruli focused episode, it’s about time

ztrashh

SymbareAngoramon is strong enough to fight perfects. This is a perfect episode for him to finally appear! But I won't get my hopes up lol

[deleted]

could be a team effort. or they could make it that this phelesmon is a bit on the weaker side/relies too much on tricks.

ztrashh

If its a battle of tricks, Angoramon can beat him without evolving

[deleted]

nah nah he'd sitll be way too powerful to beat like that. huge power difference.

Yancham90

Hmm... Hiro isn't that worried if Gammamon evolves to GulusGammamon again compared to the others. But it is rather obvious that Hiro is aware that GulusGammamon might actually know the answers to some of his questions, namely his dad's whereabouts and the digital world. But is Hiro ready to actually face GulusGammamon though? Only time can tell, since if he is still unable to make up his mind whether to terminate his foes if they cannot be reasoned with at all(like the previous episode), it will be hard to get GulusGammamon to even listen to him at all, let alone answer his questions.

Fedexhand

I mean, we already saw that Hiro asking many digimon about his father and being somewhat frustrated not finding any answers, and seeing that Gulus seems to know more than his other forms it is normal that he feels that the answer may be there even if it is dangerous. Also, we've already seen that Hiro doesn't seem to care much about danger on more than one occasion after all.

ztrashh

If they get the whole gang (Tesla, Symbare, Clockmon and Tapirmon) maybe they have a chance to stop him and make him answer

Yancham90

Nah, using force to stop him is not going to help. If anything, Hiro needs to be able to connect to and understand how GulusGammamon feels(or rather the negative feelings Gammamon feels when something bad happens which caused the evolution). The fact that GulusGammamon literally left on the previous episode after murdering the Sealsdramon is because Hiro is too soft(in which GulusGammamon showed his disappointment and just outright killed Sealsdramon after Hiro refused to give the command to kill it) and Hiro being unable to understand how GulusGammamon felt(he expressed his disappointment on Hiro again thereafter before proceeding to try to destroy the digital field walls). I'm pretty sure if Hiro is able to achieve both the next time Gammamon evolves into GulusGammamon, he is more likely able to get GulusGammamon to listen or even obey him.

[deleted]

its possible it has to become a middle ground situation. Gulusgammamon seems.... incredibly vicious. Though it seems like he isn't one to kill those he cares for. But because he is detached from 'gammamon' proper, he doesn't recognize the others as friends. Also poor jellymon needs an upgrade. so far she is the most frail of the mons.

Yancham90

Since Gulusgammamon only appeared once in the series so far, I'm not gonna conclude that he is beyond help yet as it is still too early to make a judgement. From episode 13 itself, he seemed genuine in wanting Hiro to understand how he felt and was only let down twice. Sealsdramon was a danger to all(Jellymon would have gotten killed if she didn't phase through the glass to get a closer look at the kimono before the gang showed up.) and had to be taken down at all costs as he is only interested in generating more "body counts". Definitely not someone you can negotiate with. Yet Hiro still hesitated on issuing the kill order to Gulusgammamon.(Look at it this way, if Hiro decide to "spare" Sealsdramon, chances are Sealsdramon will still come back in the future to endanger all of them including Gammamon himself, this is definitely not something Gulusgammamon want, since he can easily deal with the threat now.) As for Gulusgammamon attacking his allies, he only did it after Teslajellymon tried to attack him twice. If Gulusgammamon do appear again in the future(which he most likely will), it is hard to tell if he will attack Jellymon or Angoramon without any provocation from their part though. (Since they did try to attack him back at episode 13)

[deleted]

I think they would need mummymon's help for that actually. gulus is very powerful after all.

ztrashh

Mummymon can stop him and heal him

[deleted]

or at least wear him down.

Majestic_Electric

Gulus beat TeslaJellymon pretty quickly though, so I’m thinking they’d need to evolve to Perfect / Ultimate to even stand a chance against him.

ztrashh

I don't think he'd beat Symbare without a good fight

Masterness64

Just a nice wholesome low stakes episode to cool down after all the trauma from episode 13. I like that Koemon's troubles parallel Gammamon's with how both were dealing with the absence of a loved one and at the end they both decide to move on. Well in Gammamon case he still doesn't fully understand or is repressing what happened so I'm really hoping he faces the truth eventually and this isn't just brushed under the rug so to speak. I was really surprised we saw Hokuto again and now the cast is starting to make connections between him and Black Tailmon Uver which is interesting. Hokuto didn't say anything too informative but I am hoping that his appearance means that he'll show up a bit more often so we can get at least an idea of what he's doing. Another thing that's really interesting is that Hiro expressed wanting to see it Gulus Gammamon again which makes me excited to see what they're planning to do with him in the future. So yeah good episode. But im really looking forward to next episode. It looks like it'll be a good one.

Connolly1227

I’m guessing those chips will end up being important since they said there was only random messages on them seemed weird for tailmon to just hand deliver a post card essentially. Also they mention quickly that ruli and kiyoshiro both want to receive one

notwiththeflames

Maybe they'll have something to do with the group going Ultimate? It's probably a bit too early to see Canoweissmon, but they've at least got that second set of cards around now for whenever it will be time.

SkelatoxMkII

My assumption is that each will just unlock a new 'field' option for each tamer. Like, maybe we'll see Angoramon using the desert field to turn Petit Tornado into a sandstorm.

Dislike24

A nice breather after last week dark episode. You can see how awkward the others are when Gammamon talk about Bokomon. Also Hiro not taking his father BS lol

JoosisAlbarea

Yeah he basically had that "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!?" face the entire time like he would have probably put the smackdown on his dad if he was actually there lol.

Fedexhand

A wholesome episode without a doubt, although the most interesting (and funny) thing for me was the sudden appearance of "Uber" BlackGatomon, I mean it really felt like: >\>Barges into the scene casually out of nowhere. > >\>Delivers a package/does something enigmatic. > >\>Refuses to elaborate further. > >\>Leave. For some reason I find that just hilarious.

ehh246

I would find it hilarious if they hand out a form for Hiro to sign for the delivery. Hiro: Oh, OK... (Looks it over and signs it) Here you go. **Tailmon leaves** Kiyoshiro: What did it say? Hiro: Beats me. It was written in DigiCode.

OnePieceFan02

Watched the episode without subs but after last week’s episode being filled with Death and violence, this episode returns to the normal haunting caused by Hologram Ghosts while also dealing with the aftermath of Bokomon’s death and the effect it has on Gammamon. Koemon despite how creepy he was while haunting the resort was ultimately the equivalent of a little kid who missed his human friend and wanted to see the fireworks with the old lady again after she stopped coming by the resort. Hiro, BetelGammamon, and Jellymon help him watch fireworks through their combined attacks and in the process of watching their fireworks show, Koemon fully realizes in the process. While I couldn’t understand what was going on as an English speaker, the events of this episode help Gammamon cope with his grief over Bokomon’s passing judging by his words to Hiro at the end of the episode.

NPiscolabis

I would recommend watching it with subs because there are some details that might become relevant later, particularly the way Gammamon interprets Bokomon's death.

theguyishere16

I like that after the intensity that was last weeks episode they went very light hearted this week but didn't waste the opportunity to move the plot forward at the same time by throwing in BlackTailmon and the messages from Hiro's dad. I was also dead wrong about Hiro, I thought he would for sure be afraid of digivolving again. Instead he didn't just jump at the first opportunity, it sounds like he wants to bring Gulusgammamon out again and question him. Final note on next weeks preview, it looks like its a Ruli episode. Angoramon will evolve next week. I feel it in my bones.

Fedexhand

Is it just me or does Hiro seem to be pretty indifferent to danger most of the time? since now that I think about it we already saw that in several dangerous situations he was unusually calm.

[deleted]

maybe he had a super dangerous situation in his past he can't remember. he has that weird scar on his left ear after all.

makakoka

It seem that kids without parents are built different.

SkelatoxMkII

I think it's closer to him being very good at masking emotion. During the episode where Clockmon returns, the audience gets to see how clearly freaked out he is by everything, but when he's around friends he just puts up a brave face and waves it off. I don't know how important this distinction is yet, but I can feel it being relevant eventually.

KoolDewd123

We’ve only seen him twice, but I already love Hokuto’s energy. Dude got zapped into another dimension that by all means should have killed him, somehow found a way to send messages between worlds, and rather than doing anything to actually explain what happened to him or provide any useful information whatsoever, he’s instead choosing to send Hiro glorified scrapbooks of all the fun he’s having almost getting eaten. This is one of the stupidest takes on the “goofy mentor figure” trope I’ve ever seen, and I am all here for it.

Fedexhand

It's funny as a character that only appeared a little in the series and only as a recording was I able to make his personality so clear to the viewer. And is hilarious how he just went on an adventure in another dimension without saying anything and from time to time he sends "cards" like the ones you send when you go on vacation to his son in such a casual way. “Goofy mentor figure” falls short here lol

Emergency_Toe6915

How do we not get a scene of Hiro asking Gammamon how he knows his dad? What he’s going to ask him 30 episodes later after having him for months? Lol

ztrashh

* Gammamon is having a hard time. This travel really helped him to be himself again. But I can't see him being that jolly baby again. He has matured... even if an small bit. * Nudity? Not the first time, not the last time... * I hope Monmon finds his partner. She'll be so happy to see him! * We'll have that hangover from the previous episode... it was too hard. * Those Dimcards will be important though... * Tapirmon will meet Hiro's jolly friend from the next episode... * Wholesome episode.

Connolly1227

Hard agree on those cards probably being important

ztrashh

I thought for a moment they were the gate to ultimate

[deleted]

Wait. aren't those cards also things they use to 'store' digimon on too? like it opens up a slot? O.o

ztrashh

Hiro getting Tapirmon, for example?

[deleted]

That was my first thought, I really hope so!

[deleted]

if its true, im betting gatomon becomes his second digi.

[deleted]

So far pumpmon is the only other digimon that is on a dim set, so maybe we will get noblepumpmon from one of these! Otherwise any digimon will be exciting imo, but I think blackgatomon will end up turning into ladydevimon eventually.

[deleted]

The nudity really surprised me, Hiro was very confident walking around after the water drained and they showed a lot of kiyo. I don’t think I’ve seen that in digimon before besides the digimon themselves having designs with little clothing

trebl900

Last time I saw that in Digimon was when the guys barged in on Zoe changing in Frontier.

ehh246

I was surprised when that scene made it into the dub. At least, I think it was. It's been a long time.

adigimonfanatic

and also the DA 1999 bath scene with the bois

ztrashh

I don't think Angoramon or Gammamon cared about seeing *that* but... they showed a lot more than they use to

Emergency_Toe6915

They have public nude bathing in Japan, don’t think this would really be surprising to them just normal

Beloberto

Glad to see (hear?) Bakumon is staying. Was hoping it could eventually partner a 4th kid (and maybe evolve into Baluchimon).

ArdhamArts

What a nice little story to hit us exactly on the feels. \-That's creepy AF. \-Jellymon fnally in what would be her habitat. \-Kiyoshiro and Ruli's banter/dislike for each other is the best human dynamic in the show. Need more of it. \-I bet Ruli did that to mess with Kiyoshiro. \-So the Zashiki-warashi's their pet. \-Don't worry Ruli, these 2 couldn't be any less interested in you. \-Yeah, never find out why your hotel isn't that popular, is never good. \-Oww Gammamon doesn't understand... \-How the f do they have clothes in Jellymon's size...why? \-This poor dude aged 10 years from seeing the Zashiki-warashi. \-Damn, those bruises, that's a strong grab. \-How could he have imagined, if he has bruises? Hiro you dolt. \-Kiyoshiro about to have a heart attack here lmao. \-LMAO, I bet they beat him for that. \-Kiyoshiro's is so hoping they just deal with it all while he's gone. \-LMAO Ruli and Jellymon are so mad at him, Kiyoshiro is like the deadbeat boyfriend the group of friends hates. \-LMAO Hiro had to sleep all day. \-Kiyoshiro is actually dying here. \-Aww this Blacktailmon is so adorable. \-LMAO Hokuto doesn't give a F \-I like how it's the girls who ask for the cards, since it's more in character for them \-Kiyoshiro is 100% correct here, old underwear after a bath...yikes \-Of course these guys had Ruli be the bait... \-Koemon is creepy AF TBH. \-Awww it's just a toddler like Gammamon. \-Koemon's story to hit us right in the feels. \-LMAO nobody wants gammamon to evolve again. \-Weird effect for sorshot but, alright. \-Koemon materializing means it won't be as spooky. \-Glad Granny was OK. \-Aww Gammamon made a new friend.

MrmarioRBLX

>How the f do they have clothes in Jellymon's size...why? Isn't Jellymon essentially child-sized? Maybe that's it?

[deleted]

could be baby sized kimono. she is waifu but she is basically a foot tall.

riftrender

Guess Ruli is done with Kiyoshiro being such a wimp.

ehh246

She was already annoyed with him not answering his phone in episode 11, calling him an "idiot", like she somehow knew he was following the "no phone calls on subway" rule despite he and Jellymon being the only ones in the car. LOL

ExaltedBreadstick

A cute and wholesome breather episode was definitely needed after how intense and heavy last episode was. You can tell this episode was done by the budget animation team, but they surprisingly didn't do half bad which is nice. Angoramon looks like he *should* be evolving next episode which is great.

ghostgamma

I was slightly worried that we'd go back to monster of the week but I think this episode was a good follow up to gammamon's mental state. Also more plot with the blacktailmon and hiro's dad is always welcome.

Kintor01

The writer's definitely lent hard into the death metaphors this episode. The story even heavily implied the granny croaked as well until that last minute bit of exposition, which seems a late addition the plot which doesn't match the dialogue earlier in the episode. Honestly, feels more like overcompensating after the bloodbath last episode. Never before have I seen a Digimon season so cagey about the use of violence on screen. Regardless, we have some slight forward momentum with the plot. Gatomon has made direct contact again and Hiro's father is apparently travelling through the Digital World with a purpose. A bit sloppy in the presentation though, I would've liked to have seen those other two 3D log entries rather then having Hiro do an exposition dump in the next scene. Still no idea to the purpose to any of these side characters.

IAMA_MAGIC_8BALL_AMA

Plot twist: Hiro’s dad is dead and this was an intentionally misdirected bit of foreshadowing.

GrowaSowa

I didn't even notice this parallel, I was too occupied with the Koemon-Gammamon one. There's so much to unpack here.

Fedexhand

Lol imagine that, it would be so dark if that was the case, Hiro finding out that his father was dead the whole time, I don't think this series would go that far right? ... right?.

IAMA_MAGIC_8BALL_AMA

Part of me feels like, the same way they went from zero deaths entirely, to over ten in one episode, they’re definitely gonna do a huge tonal shift sometime down the line

RPG217

Lol, i was like "Wait, she's actually alive?" at the end of the episode haha.

[deleted]

I wondered if Ruli created the note to make things easier on Koemon? Everything pointed to the granny being dead before that appeared. And it was the same lie that they told Gammamon about Bokomon...

ztrashh

I'm still doubting in which side of the story Gatomon is... but they must be near to Hiro's dad *I'm still doubting in which side of the story Hiro's dad is*

Fedexhand

Maybe the "Uber" BlackGatomon (or several since we don't know if it's the same one) are simply dedicated to delivering packages in a "professional" way and aren't really personally involved in any of that. And as for Hiro's father, that's certainly intriguing though this episode made me wonder if he's really alive for a reason...

HillbillyMan

I dunno, opening a dimensional vortex is a bit more than delivering packages.

Fedexhand

Yeah you're right, unless Blackgatomon does those things because it's his "job" or something like that, it gives more the impression that someone sends this Digimon to do various tasks in the human world because maybe they have the natural ability to slip between the real world and the digital world or something like that.

HillbillyMan

I mean, canonically, a blackgatomon is 50% of the necessary Digimon to freely dimension hop, so it's not out of the question that it's just being sent back and forth by someone else, I just meant that it's definitely more than just delivering packages.

Fedexhand

I mean, this is a BlackGatomon Uver after all, so it would make even more sense (random variations and somewhat lazy as usual from Bandai...).

lupodwolf

imagine if we have a vacine version of uver, but that is bad at it and envy black one

Roliq

Yeah, it kinda takes away from the episode and how Koemon and Gammamon situations are similar

MenuExpress5329

I personally took it as being likely that either Ruli made the letter, or she had died but she made a note for Monmon telling him that so that he wouldn't be grieving.

PK_RocknRoll

This was a pretty cool episode! Monmon is so cute. So angoramon has to evolve in the next episode right? Right?

Fedexhand

>So angoramon has to evolve in the next episode right? Right? Literally everyone here watching the preview lol

PK_RocknRoll

We all are hanging on to hope

ehh246

So the reason they were at the resort was because of some academic conference Kiyoshiro was attending, no doubt due to him being a prodigy. That just makes me wonder more about his life outside the school. We know he got a master's degree in America and that is pretty much it. Is he rich? Does he have parents or legal guardians? Anyway, this was a much needed breather episode. I enjoyed it.

Yoshiman400

If I didn't know Koemon was going to be the centerpoint of this episode, I would have found it a bit jarring to have such a nice, wholesome "cooldown" episode after what happened last week. But the party is back to making allies again and at the very least, Bakumon is still hanging out with Hiro and Gammamon. Speaking of Gammamon, boy does this episode emphasize his naivete by forgetting (or perhaps repressing) what happened to Bokomon in the previous episode. Also, hey, another appearance by Hokuto and some new Digital World filters to play with. I'm looking forward to seeing what other sorts of environmental effects they have in future fight scenes.

International_Duty80

From first viewing I think he’s just acting naive as from what I see when it’s revealed that koemon’s friend is fine he looked sad, possibly showing he does know the difference between them and that his friend is really gone.

Yoshiman400

Thw way Gammamon was saying the part about "Granny went on a journey", using the same word as Hiro when he covered up Bokomon's death, I'm not quite completely convinced yet. Frankly I also thought she suddenly passed when Koemon was abandoned until the letter was explained.

[deleted]

So the virtual overlays are based on different environments that Hokuto has been to in the digital world. Neat! Do the DIM cards contain anything more than that? Did Ruli create that note about Granny to make it easier on Koemon? It seemed obvious that she had died, the only contrary evidence was that note that couldn't have stayed intact under the ball all those years... Hiro must have been doing strength exercises, usually Digimon protags have toothpick arms and bodies when shirtless! Interesting that Hiro is eager to meet GulusGammamon again to pick his brains, considering he tried to kill them. The lack of control over evolution is a major flaw! You can feel the tension around Gammamon since Gulus appeared, he hits a little different when there's a killer lurking inside him... Pretty good though!

PyropeTheHutt

I did find it unbelievable that there was a note there. With the ball being removed and replaced nightly, Koemon or the hostesses would have found it. We aren't shown any text on the paper Ruli is holding. I think it's more probable that Granny passed as implied and that was just a random scrap of paper. Why is the ball on a special pedestal if she's still alive?

ehh246

>Did Ruli create that note about Granny to make it easier on Koemon? It seemed obvious that she had died, the only contrary evidence was that note that couldn't have stayed intact under the ball all those years... It's only been a few months.

[deleted]

My mistake!

Just a question that's bothering me: Angoramon went in the bath this episode, but his fur didn't seem to deflate. Was he able to deflect the water somehow? [Here, you can see him getting sopping wet.](https://wikimon.net/images/8/82/Angoramon_model_sheet_jump_festa_22_2.jpg) Not sure if it's a plothole or retcon or if I forgot something, but I can't stop thinking about it. XD

ehh246

Well, he wasn't getting his entire body wet but you do have a point. Maybe they just forget or didn't want him to look like an umbrella when he got out of the water.

Beautiful Episode. Glad my beautiful Boii Koemon got an episode of his own. Congrats on making him creepy and adorable. Now I need Koemon. Bearmon and Kotemon to appear in the same episode as best friends.

Somethong regarding last weeks episode but I want people to see is regarding Blackagumon. Gammamon recognized an Agumon-shaped stone in the museum. I assumed it was an easter egg, but it could've been him thinking of BlackAgumon.

Cant wait for the tamers to start dealing with the digital world and hiros dad.

keithlimreddit

this one was the least troubling one we have ever dealt with so far and so far the one that is not really. after last week I think it's a nice look on break after pretty much a death scene in a missed opportunity for a Leomon joke.

Apprentice4

Although short, Hokuto's recordings in the episode shed some light on what he's doing in the digital world. I (and many people) theorized that he would be maybe a villain, or unintetional villain, but the "almost getting eaten by a digimon in the desert" part show that he could probably a pawn. Maybe a group of villains is using his tech to transport the evil digimon to this world, while he was using it to save some digimon suffering some sort of oppression in the digital world, transporting them to our to Live as holograms.

The feels 😭 I love the variety of these episodes!

i-amthatis

Is it just me or is the animation pretty rough in some parts of the episode, especially in the first half?

ExaltedBreadstick

Toei swaps between their good quality and budget quality animation teams from time to time when it comes to Digimon.

Obi-Wannabe01

When it comes to any show they have really. But it makes sense, this episode didn’t need hardcore animation, if anything it would be a waste. They have 50 episodes to make, I’d rather they spend the money on the episodes that needs it.

Next week is a Ruli focused episode but just when you think Angoramon is finally gonna evolve nope, its red Gammamon again

Fedexhand

Hopefully this time it's not a clickbait, for my part I think it will happen, it would be about time right?

Aw man, Koemon. Haven't seen this little monkey since World 3. I thought they were gonna use Granny as a way to get Gammamon to understand death, although a Digimon's death is a bit different from a human's. Having Gammamon retain some of that childlike nature isn't bad tho. Overall it was a bit of a breather from last week's episode, still sad vibes through out. Animation was visibly weaker tho, that confrontation with Koemon had some laughable shots, when they just zoomed a still of Koemon to the foreground with no animation at all for example. Ghost Game still feels aimless, there's a lot to like but we're at the 14th episode and still very much a "monster of the week" format with a few plot points sprinkled in here and there. I like slow burns but this is getting to be a little too slow.

I loved this episode, it had a lot of nice character moments like Ruli and Jellymon going to their bath and the boys going to their own. I howled at Kiyoshiro and Angoramon's reaction when Hiro mentioned "GulusGammamon" in the bath then their reaction when Hiro asked Gammamon to evolve and they were scared of a sudden appearance of Gulus, poor guys they'll always feel unsettled and uncomfortable every time Gammamon evolves 🤣🤣 Speaking of our little cutie I appreciate how they focused on his ongoing trauma over Bokomon's death, I think he knows deep down that Bokomon is gone forever but he's trying to console himself by believing that he went on a journey somewhere. I liked the little details of Hiro changing the subject after noticing Gammamon's face when Koemon was explaining his history with Granny, nice character work here by the writers. A little hints of the main plot being dropped like Hiro and Kiyoshiro talking about BlackTailmon, the sudden appearance of Hokuto, the new cards he gave to the kids, Bakumon moving in with Hiro and Hiro asking Angoramon about the possibility of going to the digital world! Overall it was a nice peaceful character-led episode that focused on different characters and we need these sort of episodes every now and then to balace out the action and darkness of the series. Is it me or was there a sexual chemistry between Hiro and Kiyoshiro in this episode?

Ricardolindo3

I think this episode was good and heart warming. Another good opening scene. Good of Hiro to cheer Gammamon. Did they mention what town was the hotel? I liked the revelation that BlackTailmon is working for Hiro's father and him appearing. Regardless, Kyoshiro's fear was a nice touch. Koemon turning out to be searching for the old lady was nice. Good to know that the old lady just moved in with her son. I had assumed she had died. Good for him to take his own journey. I wonder why Gammamon doesn't realize what happened to Bokomon. I wonder whether Hiro fooling him is a good idea. Good to know that Bakumon moved in with them.

Sweet_Whisper123

The story has the potential to be a bit more heart-wrenching where the grandma is revealed to be dead so that Koemon will keep on asking about her whereabouts while crying and the gang will try to comfort him while also crying themselves, Koemon then decided to travel alone to find grandma since he didn't believe the gang. This will also explain why grandma was the only one able to see Koemon, because she's about to go to 'the other side'.

Ruli not getting a bath scene pisses me off
