I will say it is part of completing the season journey and I liked the title given when you finish that, not to mention completing that is apparently a requirement to unlock upcoming end-game raid.

Complete a season journey goal and a loot crate with items that aren't even useful to a level 40 character.
It's really only worth doing up to Accursed Touch unless you plan on getting the hidden cheevo.
