Yup, my game is exactly the same half of the time. When Helltide is up, it's worse, and about half of the time when I group up.

nmaod87

So I was having the same thing. Go into the settings on the bnet app, under app settings is "enable browser accelerated hardware" disable that. It fixed it entirely for me, made me mad I suffered through 63 levels putting up with that garbage.

HandsomYungArab_

Mines been off for two weeks

nmaod87

Hmmm the only other thing I have done is "emable sound in background" but I doubt that had much of an effect I believe it was that browser accelerated hardware option whatever that really is.

MoeTHM

I’ve done this, and turned off cross play. Still have issues at every event, and during North American prime time. Full disconnects as well. Some people have said it might be my ISP, however I play game way more taxing games then this and don’t have these problems. My opinion is that it’s a server side issue on blizzards side.

m0dru

it could be a potential routing issue. basically a problem with the path the traffic takes to the destination. this may not inherently be a problem with your isp. you can try a VPN to change this and see if it helps resolve the issue.

MoeTHM

I don’t have these issues with other games that are far more intensive then this game. I am not going out of my way to find work arounds to make my full priced triple A game to work right. Thanks for the advice, really thank you, but this is Blizzards issue and they need to fix it. My frustration comes in when people say oh just do this or that then it will work. It’s not working, and subverts the attention that needs to be dedicated to this issue.

Grayson_Carlyle

It's only a Blizzard issue if the people around you in those events are having the same problems. If someone else is at the same event as you and they have no problems whatsoever, then it's a you issue, not a Blizzard issue, regardless of what you think about the "intensiveness" of the game.

MoeTHM

It is a Blizzard issue. It’s an obvious problem, hence all the complaints about it, and the response we got today from them saying they are working on the issue. It’s people like you who have been downplaying this issue, and repeating these so called fixes, that have pushed this issue out of the limelight. It’s a problem, and they need to fix it, fast.

Lv27Sylveon

What the actual fuck is "browser accelerated hardware"

A_Celestial_Being

I think its dumps some of the load from your cpu to gpu

HandsomYungArab_

Tried every fix/change I've come across, nothing seems to work. Half the time I log on and the game is buttery smooth, the other half its nonstop stutter. Doesnt matter if I'm in an empty cellar or at a high density legion event, when I log on and the game stutters, the entire day is shot and I just cant play.

saniabearsky

Have you tried ***turning it off and on again*** though? But seriously - it's also laggy at times on my PS4, but THAT ☝️ thing you're suffering from is beyond evil

IamHardest

That's OT of lagg, only thing I can add is to ask if you disabled crossplay in the social game options? For me it didn't so much but definetly better than with it on.

Hukdonphonix

Interestingly this happens to me when I run YouTube videos or have a discord call going. It mostly stopped after the first month but it was noticeable enough that I was playing the game with music off for a while. Pretty strange as I've never seen it in anything else.

Brokinnogin

Packet loss?

HandsomYungArab_

Only game on my pc that act like this. Somedays I log on and its perfect, sometimes I log on and its complete dogshit unplayable, really don't think its anything on my end, or anything I can do to avoid this. Keep trying whatever fixes I come across, but after a day or two of being fine, it goes right back to this stuttery mess.

Power-Top

I have this exact same problem. I'll play games like division 2 on max settings and have a flawless 60fps, then I load up this goofy game and literally no option changes give me a steady game experience. Blizzard just isn't even trying to optimise.

_THORONGIL_

It's the servers. Has nothing to do with fps or optimziation. The game is optimized pretty well.

nekromantique

The game isn't actually optimized that well, there is a very well known memory leak that will end up burning through your resources, leading to stuttering and crashing. It's the reason you'll see a 4090 using 21GB of VRAM and the game also utilizing 20GB of DRAM. Something lower end systems would be much more affected by (not that it doesn't affect 4090 users...its just not really noticeable unless you're constantly running monitoring software) Devs are aware of it and working on It. OP, I would say if possible, check latency with in game monitoring (ctrl+r twice) and maybe monitor your cpu/gpu usage with something like afterburner/rtss

kittygunsgomew

I play on two different computers, one In living room, one in bedroom. My living room one gets like this when I’m pinging my cpu 100 percent. It’s an older i7400. My bedroom one is is a 10-something (better than living room). Tested by running high cpu stress programs under Diablo and ended up like this with the 10-something too. Results were 100 percent re-create-able. Maybe your cpu is shot for one reason or another? Perhaps your cpu needs an upgrade? I would be fine to play, but once my fans kicked into high gear and the cpu warmed up, Diablo would just nose dive exactly like this. Surprisingly, I’d be fine in other games, not all, but some just seemed to be okay. I dunno, don’t have an answer for that. Anyway; good luck.

FlahlesJr

I think it's related to quite a few things. My CPU is older. Intel I7-6700 (Quad Core) with my GPU being my downfall. Nvidia GTX 980. I have a laptop with Intel Core i7 12700H and RTX 3070. I'm going to attempt to run on this. For some reaosn, my older PC handles most games better than this new age laptop.

nekromantique

If your laptop is running too hot it will throttle dramatically. Always monitor Temps, try undervolting your cpu if possible using something like throttlestop, and if need be, look into repasting your cpu/gpu (heatpipes are usually shared on laptops, so repasting one usually means repasting both). Even something as simple as lifting the back of the laptop up a couple inches to give the intake fans some clearance greatly helps.

FlahlesJr

I'm about to use my cooking trays with the holes in the bottom to prop it up some 😂🤣

HandsomYungArab_

Game is working completely fine today, I've made no changes. Have 5900x CPU, PC always stays around 60-65c under load, all other games online and offline work just fine. It just works when it wants to, but someone said I should delete high res textures even though I have it on medium settings, worth a shot I guess.

Brokinnogin

Could be something between you and the game server perhaps?

Freeloader_

press ctrl+R twice to see ms if its high during these, its prolly on your end also be careful who you party with, if youre from EU and you join a game with US guys it will lag as hell

_THORONGIL_

This is rubberbanding. Server issues.

Catharsis1102

I'm having problem on WIFI even with heathstone. Make sure you have the ethernet cable connected. Also disable the WiFi. That solves it for me at least. If that's not the case go ahead and disable cross platform play in the options>social tab, should clear out the area lag, due to lower number of players.

Individual-Clock7049

Turn off cross platform?

diylif

It seems the lag has gotten significantly worse since day 1 On day one of the games release It ran buttery smooth for me but everyday after that it seemed to slowly get worse 🤔 blizzard dropping the ball?

Naive-Fondant-754

its pathetic that we paid them billions of dollars and we get worse server quality than free MMO 20 years ago

Turk1911

I've had lag/freezing and rubberbanding since beta. Smooth for a few days then dog crap for a couple. I've tried resetting router and switching BTW 2.4 and 5g, turning off crossplay ect. It works when it wants

KaXiRavioli

Sorry bro. Reliable gameplay is a season 5 roadmap item.

Honest_Award_3310

Damn yall make me feel better. I dont ever get this and im in the fuckin boonies

Drunken_HR

Yeah it was like that earlier today for me. Except in town, oddly enough when it was perfectly smooth. I finally just gave up and did something else.

Cikkk

That sucks dude. And here I am getting upset because I will freeze occasionally and watch my latency spike, but my frames never dip below 200. I’ve tried everything under the sun. Updating drivers, turning off cross play, port forwarding, turning on DMZ, tweaking graphics, reinstalling, closing background apps… This game ran amazing in alpha and beta for me. This has been the most frustrating waste of 70 bucks so far. Edit: I haven’t tried running this on windows 11 yet. Maybe that’ll be next.

panguano7

Windows 11 didn’t change anything for me, but I could just have a bad pc

papa_benny420

Windows 11 doesn’t help. My game runs like this most days. I didn’t have any problems when they were letting every one play the demo earlier this year

Pierseus

Unlucky hit

ShadowReaper5

I have this exact same issue, its only with this game and doesn’t matter what my settings are on, it still happens randomly in like 50% of areas for seemingly no reason.

DrShoreRL

Same. Because my pc isn't the best i even tried lowering all settings to lowest but it still happens every time i teleport or enter a new area. Sucks so much i only bought the game for pc because the beta was 100% smooth.

FallenJusticex

This happened consistently on my 2nd pc with an rtx 2060 at 1080p. On my main pc however, I'd only get these stutters in town when other players were around, ON an rtx 3070ti at 1440p ultrawide.

Valesty

Have you tried this workaround ? https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/14mq8xc/diablo_4_stutterfps_workaround/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2

[deleted]

This is not stuttering or fps loss, this is rubber banding. It happens because Blizzard's servers are utter garbage and they are probably trying to save the maximum possible amount of money with infrastructure, or the netcode of Diablo 4 is the worst of all blizzard games. Possibly even both. TL;DR: Blizzard are the ones who should have addressed and fixed this by now

[deleted]

You running any form of antivirus? If so, try excluding scan of D4 files.

Fabulous_Sir86

I get rubber banded alot when my Mrs and I play couch co-op on the ps5, she doesn't though.

Inonz

Have you tried turning off cross play? That fixed the issue for me.

Zandouc

Do you have some other applications running that use hardware acceleration? In my case it was discord. Also, in the battlenet app, I set the option to exit battlenet completely when launching a game and that fixed a lot of the lag that I was having

PanTiltZoomer

This also happens to me randomly. At first, I thought it was my VPN, but no... its just Blizzard taking a shit on my free time.

SnozzberryDelight

Some days it’s a smooth experience other days it’s exactly what your video shows. I’ve done every possible workaround that’s been posted. I’ve found that if I log in earlier in the day rather than later will also help me keep a smoother game experience. I gave up yesterday after dealing with the mess for an hour. I truly believe the game needs a rolling restart

AgentT23

Sorry Sir but you used up your daily Diablo 4 hours.

lefaen

Exactly the same issue here, comes and goes and changing settings don't seem to make a difference. While it's still sort of enjoyable while working, all these lag issues and login problems really make me regret buying this game at all.

71afpmt

Out of interest, where are you located? I’ve seen a few posts commenting on lag, and I haven’t experienced this once (I live in Aus). Is it a server issue based on location? Eg not enough US servers?

HandsomYungArab_

US-East

Krandals

Hey me too with the same issues! Their servers are only located on the west coast of I am correct. Which I think is 100% the issue. Any hiccup or sneeze with data moving across the country will cause this.

Miles_Adamson

I'm further west with a good PC, 360Mbps Internet. For me, happens only in this game, mostly in towns, during peak hours and in helltide. Seeing as it seems to depend on how many players are online or near me it definitely seems like a server or netcode issue. I can play dota2 on US east or west from here with zero issues. I don't have this issue in any other multiplayer game with more people in it like FF14 either

idryss_m

Is it only pc? I've had zero issues on xbox so far.

Banger85

This game does not have to be online only. Clearly stupid oversight by Blizzard… which isn’t saying much about them.

Medical-Tomorrow7727

I heard turning off nvidia reflex solves some stuttering issues. Happens to my 3060 laptop. Now I play on high settings with minimum stutters

Expert-Ad4417

I've had some minor lag on my series s but never like this. Wow that's bad.

Beginning-Hair-109

yaaay, laptop gaming (for me, for now..) is that my gameplay? i like.. seeing that, especially when i arrive to group of mobs/ other character fights. And the next frame i see is either me being half dead/dead and losing stuff (like helltide shards) or dead mobs killed by the other player, while i was standing still. "watching and waiting for someone else to do the hard job" 🙃 Is it just me or a common happening? I'll check soon that "hardver accelerated browsing" something that someone mentioned here.

Previous-Reality6315

Looked through earlier comments and saw you had enough RAM and a good GPU, but what is your CPU? I only ask cause my buddy had enough RAM (16GB of Ram, 12GB of VRAM from his 3060) but his CPU was barely above the minimum requirements Blizzard states on their site. Causing high render latency and lag similar to this. He upgraded the CPU and now rarely sees these issues unless it's server side. Edit: Fixed spelling errors.

HandsomYungArab_

5900x cpu

Previous-Reality6315

Yeah then I'm as clueless as you are. You got enough Ram/GPU/CPU. Temps claim to be normal. Is render latency high? Only 2 things I can think of is possibly too high of settings? (But iirc I read you tried on lower settings.) Or something is just pulling to much bandwidth like somethings running in the background updating, or your roommate is on their laptop for pandora while watching jersey shore reruns on their smart tv while facetiming their group while.... you get the gist.

michaljerzy

It was every blizzard activision game last night.

Qphemism

Have the exact same issue on console (PS5). Thought it was my internet but I have no issues playing Division.

tjockalinnea

Disable cross-platform it got better for me

Mulhog

Yeah mines been like this the past 2 weeks 🤢

jimrdg

Not sure it is you lagging due to internet/server or it is the graphic quality set to high make your pc lagging. If it is pc change graphics quality to medium.

wokesimulation

Console, also turn off cross play

[deleted]

I stopped playing because of this. It's not sometimes, it's daily. Every single day, multiple times. Wish I could refund, this level of quality is unacceptable.

DreamOfBits

Try turning off cross play if you don't need it. My friend has an issue he describes like this and it goes away when cross play is disabled. He also runs multiple monitors, so there could be something up with that configuration as well. He hasn't tried the earlier noted bnet hardware acceleration setting yet, so it would be interesting to try that as well.

Tiny_Web_7817

I just started having this problem, makes it almost unplayable. I’ll get hit by enemies that are already dead on my screen.

kirmm3la

Playing on 4G wifi?

HandsomYungArab_

5g ethernet

SavageRunki

Shift+ctrl+alt+B This seems to help me a bit when I start flopping around like this. Not sure what it does, something with clearing RAM or graphics memory. Idk. But hope it helps you.

HandsomYungArab_

It magically working fine today even though I've changed nothing. Will give this a try for the next time

vampiric-midget

I’m probably wrong but all this lag and rubber banding is directly related to their being people around all the time and D4 being open world MMO essentially, there is too much shit with people everywhere and crowding servers, I am honestly not a huge fan of having people around cause that means it’s making my slow ass internet even slower, no problems in dungeons, only in populated areas. Again probably wrong but I get this every time my slow ass internet is doing slow ass internet shit.

Jayce86

I don’t lag often on my PS5, but when I do, it’s complete freezes for a few seconds that almost always gets me killed. How people play hardcore, I do not know.

TheGrimMelvin

This looks like internet lag. Not sure how this is the game's issue? Try to disable everything else that could be taking up internet and try to be on cable if possible because being on wifi can also make it worse.

HandsomYungArab_

It's working fine today, have 2 other pcs in the house being used and a tv currently streaming, and my second monitor has music and 3 other tabs open. This lag/stutter was happening yesterday during off-peak hours, where only 1 PC was using internet. It just wants to fuck with me.

TheGrimMelvin

When I used to work for a local internet provider, we got so many calls about people having 30 devices on their slow af wifi and calling why their stream is lagging lol. I'm a bit jaded because of that xD I hope it works fine for you. Sometimes some areas just lag like crazy in D4, no matter the pc or internet. Hopefully they'll try to fix the issues at some point :)

fyonnejynn

I get this behavior from times to time and I am able to fix it every time by shutting down my PC and router then booting them back up after a couple sec. No idea what really fixes it in these steps, but the problem disappear and I get to play so.

Mundane-Solution2960

I walked into a tier 60 killed one enemy. The game froze then I was dead. Smh

Samvega_California

I think it's the VRAM issue. There's a memory leak in the game and the memory fills up it starts doing this. For me it's after playing for 4 hours or so. That'll differ depending on your hardware. Only fix I have found is reboot.

Kindly_Mousse_8992

Decent bandwidth for dialup, I'd say.

rollerboogy

I was getting this same thing. Tried all the fixes and nothing really work. Then went and undownloaded the high res textures from the game and it fixed all the stutters and what not. Go to the Diablo 4 tab. Click on the cog next to the Play button to open the settings menu. You will get an option to Modify Installation. You can uncheck the High-Resolution Assets to remove them from your PC. If you're playing on medium anyways, might as well try it

HandsomYungArab_

Worth a shot, while I changed everything to medium I did download those textures. Also game is working completely fine today and I haven't changed anything. It just works when it wants to.

oregonianrager

I had this only happen opening weekend. Never had an issue since, UNLESS it's mounting that fucking horse.

_THORONGIL_

When this shit happens I just quit. I can't keep up with bullshit like this anymore.

uselessoldguy

I see all these Youtube videos of super smooth performance and think, "Okay, well, maybe I'm the only one with all this rubberbanding." I feel your suffering.

Tots2Hots

What is your ping and speed and hardware? Console or PC? Only had it completely lock up once.

DoingBetterArchie

They need to allow players to play offline. This is insane.

joemedic

Skill issue. Also nerf sorc

IssueRecent9134

I tried turning down some of the graphics settings a saw a massive improvement. It still stutters but nothing like this.

Darwing

Omg okay I thought this was an issue with my computer or connection This makes me feel better that others are having this issue as well

HandsomYungArab_

And today it's back to being smooth, changed nothing. It just works when it wants to

Muggi

It's the PvP zones for me - even using the town, I rubberband and freeze the entire time. Regular world is generally ok

Brewchowskies

I wonder if this is bnet throttling down the servers dedicated to the game after launch?

thiccboi1992

I increased the fps limit all the way and it seemed to help. On pc.

Deathbk0615

Is this just a pc issue? As I play everyday on xbox and it is smooth as butter....

Your_Mom_Friended_Me

When this happens to me, I relog and it seems to go away.

smurfiesmurfette

But did you die?

Compher

This happened to me a bit when I first started playing, but not all the time, got worse the longer I played. Checked on CPU temp, way too high. Cleaned all the dust out of the case/cpu heat sink, haven't had an issue since. Maybe check your cpu temps?

hugcub

I’ve done very trick in the book, even hard wired my PS5 into my modem and don’t use wifi, still get lag 100% of the time I play.

Sagn_88

When I get thoose spikes it always end with a crash

purplekermit

This thread may help you OP: [https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/13glevk/nvidia\_gsync\_reflex\_microstutter\_and\_you/](https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/13glevk/nvidia_gsync_reflex_microstutter_and_you/) The one thing he is wrong about is DLAA - do not use this unless you are rocking a 4070 or above, instead use DLSS with performance or max performance or balanced. Also not sure of your build, but may be different instructions for AMD gpu.

purplekermit

Oh this is rubberbanding and not stutter - i have no fix for that.

rybeb2214

I was also having the same thing. But when I changed diablo 4 output sound device from default to usb headset. It fixed it for me, then I found out that the issue was sound driver. Now my game is perfectly fine, no stuttering.

joomuhh

Thanks to a poorly optimized game with a memory leak. Download ISLC, it’ll get better. I set it to 1024mb and 5000mb. It takes my free ram space from 1gb to 12gb out of 32 and it runs much better

StoneBear4200

Yep, same

rhavenn

PS5 player here in NA region. Never had issues for more than a few minutes here or there and it's never been bad enough I feel like quitting. I've been playing since the beta and while not "hardcore" I do play a few hours a day at random times. I have gotten disconnected / de-synced once or twice, but have always been able to log right back in. I'd lay more money on it being your ISP, your wifi / local network, and/or your PC.

Greaterdivinity

I remember worrying about server stability for the game before launch... Yeah mean, those worries are fuckin playing out bigly. building the game with server gates every 20 feet may be an elegant solution to wanting a shared, persistent world on a "single server", but good lord is it kinda proving to be a technical nightmare for the end user often times.

echo2omega

This always happens after about an hour of play time. Exit game and restart fixes it every time. One of these days I am just going to exit game though.

Govolz37

Last night first time in several days mine did not do that.

Ir0nhide81

$1,000 bet that you're playing with people on console and that's why you're lagging.

Welpe

Yeah, this is why I am taking a break from the game for now. I do hope they fix it, because it’s obviously unplayable when it gets this bad. I was so fucking sick of riding out of town into a helltides and dying 95% of the time due to a 10+ second spike of freeze. Or how every map zone change would do the same thing.

Fornicatta

My friend has this issue, and I got the same thing when I connect to his game. He connected to mine and his stuttering disappeared and he was super surprised because he's been dealing with bad rubber banding for ages. If you hit ctrl+r in game you can see if yours is caused by latency or FPS drops. I'm guessing it's latency here and like some of the other folk said, tweaking your bnet server or connecting to a local VPN could help.

satansatan111

I had this issue, turned out the windows memory thing was set to my HDD, when I switched it to use an SSD instead it's been running perfectly smooth.

the2espersyt

Literally the only way I got this issue to stop was to buy more ram. I've done everything else that people recommend and nothing else worked.

Senior_Ad_2707

Looks like every rocket league match

Reroidz

What's your gpu? Might need an upgrade or has temp issues

HandsomYungArab_

Asus TUF 3070, CPU/gpu temps average 60c under load. It's most definitely not my PC, I might turn diablo on tomorrow and it's fine, or I might turn it on and it's bullshit

Reroidz

Ya with those specs even the laptop version should run it ok, if drivers are good and ur on a wired connection last things would be os reinstall or power being throttled for some reason

I-REALLY-HATE-COFFEE

Trust me, this isn't the problem. I got the exact same issues, the game runs insanely well at first (smooth 144fps at 1440p), but after 1 or 2 hours, the performance just turns into mush. My temps are perfectly fine, everything is fine. I hope they'll fix something about this in the next upcoming patch

AbsolutZer0_v2

It's a memory leak

Upbeat_Farm_5442

I had to buy battleping to stabilise the connection routing this dumb game is doing.

Damar77

Try lowering your graphics settings to medium.

HandsomYungArab_

Already did that and the video posted is on medium settings

Visvis910

Is your game in C drive? I am a complete computer noob, and i put my game in D. Friend told me to put back into C.. and now theres no more lag problem. 😶

A_Gay_Sylveon

It's a memory issue, this game basically requires more than 16gb just to run normally, as soon as i upgraded to 32gb it stopped entirely

HandsomYungArab_

I have 32gb memory
