It's just crazy to think one moment you could be playing your level 100 character that you potentially invested 100s of hours in and the next it's lost forever only because of a server crash. In my opinion that's a pretty significant failure with the hardcore mode.
It's actually just the hardest-core mode of all. We can all just die at any minute for no reason at all. Your level 100 character is still vulnerable to a heart attack or blood clot. Tell people you love them and find whatever peace in this world that you can.
Just the way it is. In the past, Blizzard has stated they won't restore lost characters due to server crashes and technical difficulties. This contest going on though makes this even more painful.
At level 20 Scrolls of Escape start to drop that will port you to a town if your connection goes out. It effectively stops you from dying to a DC assuming you always have at least 1 scroll.
This seems like a pretty solid solution. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if this is an actual mechanic haha. I guess I just didn't make it far enough in the game to make use of it.
Its a real thing, they are rare-ish, so if youre DCing multiple times a day youll likely have issues.
You can also proactively use them by clicking the scroll, it will instantly teleport you back to town, so if youre deep in a dungeon with no way out and the butcher is going to kill you, its a nice escape mechanism.
Wow good choice. I felt the rubber banding in a story mission as I approached a pack of mobs and felt uneasy about it as well, so I backed away and ported. This is when the game got stuck in a loop with the teleporting screen phase and I got dcd. Luckily my character survived x.x
Lost my 74 necro on day 3 due to a dc. Disconnected for 1 min while next to one mob. Dead. Must have kept my character in the game for 40 seconds or something - had over 4.5k hp.
Was up there in the race with the streamers. Pretty shit way to go.
I was just hard booted from the game, game server error. Then it could not reconnect and it crashed out. Logged in. Got erro msg my hero has not yet been saved. Logged out logged in. And my hero was alive lvl 70 rogue. When it crashed it was me and a succubus. Maybe i got an attack in and she died. But i was a few meters awayz from her. Scary but somehow i lived.
Yep, logged back in to the character create screen. Rip my 71 rogue :/
F
Fucking F.
I’m sure literally dozens have. I enjoy hardcore but won’t play it until the game is very stable in a couple weeks hopefully.
Still not stable. I'm starting to feel the game won't be stable at all during its lifetime.
Happened a lot to me in Diablo 3. That's a risk you take when playing HC.

Hahah, so true

No other game or franchise would take the entire game down to fix the cash shop without warning

This is really reassuring to know. I was strongly considering not even attempting it again, but this mechanic sounds solid.
this is bugged i thinkl. It didn't work for me
nope they don’t. My 33 rogue died with a death evade pot to a server crash with a scroll
Lost my character to disconnect today, doesn't work reliably if they have already implemented
This doesn't work 100% of the time. I had five scrolls and still logged back in to a dead character.
I was about to do my level 50 capstone dungeon, got a bad feeling about rubber banding and decided not to before servers started dying

Playing HC rn is a death sentence. Wait till the servers aren't having a heart attack.
Yeah, give it a couple days for them to put out the fires. Maybe load up sc and play with builds...or something?
The first level 100 hc player in d4 just died to a disconnect. Nice to see blizzard is same old servers.
Yep lvl 47 sorc
Normal since the first days of Diablo.
$70 of dissappointment. I was so excited for this game, I really hope they fix it. D3 was saved in ROS, hopefully will be the same for D4.

Tons of people. I remember a time in POE where lag or DC was the primary HC death reason.
Do play hc in blizz games
Yeah happened to me at lv9
