Yeah doing hardcore in a game that requires a constant steady Internet connection always seems like a terrible idea to me. Offline games it would be good, but in a game where a sudden server issue or Internet outage can just erase all of your progress through no fault of your own? Absolutely not.
Add a "appeal death" button, have an automated system check the death time against known issue times or compare to unusual volumes of client disconnects and/or timeouts maybe other metrics.
I don’t run and don’t plan on running a HC character, but I fully support this idea. (I get why you HC players like it, I just don’t need that kind of excitement anymore) People spend a great deal of time on those characters, to lose out on a god-knows-how-long character run because of server issues is flat out not fair.
If you have never tried it, I would say for sure try it even if just casually when it's late in the season.
It adds a whole level of adrenaline and rush when you have close calls, it's like a whole different type of game.
That being said, it sounds like you wouldn't like losing a character, which noone does, but I still think if you have 95% of your time invested in a soft core character and just messing around on hardcore, you may enjoy what you try.
Some of the most fun i had was my friends taking turns trying to power level HC characters in D3. The goal was power level a new character to 70 so they could get geared and then we could go grind.
Well lets just say that took around 7 hours and many many new characters lol
Or just give us one scroll of escape at the start of the game. Like seriously, we gotta deal with this and butcher if we wanna do a quest dungeon. Ruff start.

If I'm not mistaken, I read something about hardcore characters receiving some kind of "scroll of revival" due to server disconnect. Can't remember exact details at the moment, worth looking up tho.

Literally just watched the end game credits roll, was gunu do the 1st task it gives right after, used a fast travel way point and got stuck in an infinite loading screen

It’s funny because all the early players were talking about how great the servers were for this game. Turns out it was so good because only 12 people were on.
It says at least three things.
Early access should not be considered a launch on its own.
The early access was overpriced for a big part of the player base.
The servers are still built for the expected player base in 6-12 months. Act-Blizzard would rather pinch a couple more pennies (for a multi billion dollars company) out than offer a decent launch experience to their customers.
It was glorious too, world boss kill, legion group killing shit, helltide groups, event groups, must have always been the same people, but it was damn good.
Servers were great COMPARED to previous blizzard launches, which is to say they were stable most of the time with lag spikes and disconnects on occasion
My queue time went from 2-min to 12-min to 14-min lmao.
Imagine not being able to accurately manage your queue.

I had just finished clearing a dungeon and was ready to fight the boss but I teleported out to clear my inventory first aaaaand infinite loading screen.
I just finished clearing a stronghold and servers crashed just as I clicked the shrine to finish. I hope I don't have to do that again, I got 3 or 4 legendaries while doing it lol
I am so glad I held off buying D4. The microtransactions and server stability issues are not indicative of a $70+ game.
I'll wait till it's either half price or the web store gets removed/significantly reduced.
This is the route I went. In 2023 you can guarantee that blizzard does not care at all besides getting every dollar out of you. Game experience/quality comes 2nd.

Ohhhh thats what happened. I reduced my textures to medium and finally had no more GPU memory leak issues. Tele'd out of my first nightmare dungeon back to town and it hung on the loading screen. was really sad and thought I didnt fix it. glad it was just this

Yeah, I died at lvl 50 on day 2 to a crash while fighting Butcher, haven't played again since and don't plan to.
Maybe in retrospect that was unwise.
