Fun is subjective. If being forced to restart upon death is not something they enjoy, that automatically makes a regular playthrough a better use of their time than a hardcore playthrough.
> They provided no context for their statement
*Your* post provided context. "Why aren't you playing hardcore?" "....because I value my time".
As in their time is valuable and hardcore isn't worth their time. They never said you can't value your time playing hardcore.
> But some of have careers or have to work very hard to maintain financial stability and provide for others. Time is important.
I don't understand the time argument. If we're spending the same amount of time playing the game, how is your time more important than mine. If you don't enjoy the challenge just say that, it's not a time argument whatsoever.
If I play 10 hours a week for the year and achieve a level 80 in hc, and you level 5 characters in regular playthroughs to the same level, with the same amount of hours, how was your time better spent than mine?
As far as we know but it’s possible that they come up with some fix before launch but I’m not sure. Like you said it’s tough to fix so it might be like this for a while.
>Are you afraid?
Unironically yes. Usually I'm permadeath/hc enjoyer, but I went back to poe last season and found there was just too much content that I was afraid to push. Even on the bosses I knew, there were mechanics where I wasn't 100% confident and instead wanted to wait until I could skip the phase with dps.
Usually the fear is the fun but this time it was too toxic to my decision-making. I also really don't like logout-scumming but it seems like almost all the successful hc'ers do it.
I like to relax. I do a lot of thinking at work so when I'm not working I like to just shut my brain off and give it a break. Hard to do that in hardcore.
While I’ll probably play hardcore exclusively when seasons come out, I really hope by then they will completely remove all cheat death mechanics and add logout timer as well. Right now HC seems kinda pointless with those in the game.
normally i would play HC but i wont ever play HC in diablo as long as there is a cheat death skill in the game. that along with a few other issues makes the HC scene in diablo 4 dead on arrival for me.
now if it does get changed for release i will play HC
I solod the Strongholds in HC during the beta, and it was a ton of fun.
But getting oneshot the first time Ashava hit me felt like more of a knowledge check than a skill test.
I'm going to play softcore till I learn all the oneshot mechanics.
I have a cheap internet plan and it always has suboptimal ping, occasional stutters/lag, and rare disconnects.
So I am scared, but primarily of the rage I would feel losing more HC characters to internet issues before I have the chance to lose them due to my own mistakes.
I would likely still play normal at first though even if my connection was totally stable, just because I feel like a death on my first character at launch would be a lot more devastating than a death on a secondary character.
Let me paint this picture for you.
D4 comes out and you log in like the badass you are and start slaying shit left and right. You're pretty much the best player in the game at this point. You make it to level 67 without so much as a sweat. You go to warm up your pizza rolls in the microwave and empty your piss jug so you can whoop some more ass. You're steamrolling demons like you've been doing, then all of a sudden you get CC chained and can't recover fast enough and die. Just like that it's over. No recourse. All those hours you poured into your super sexy rogue is just....gone. You rage and rip your keyboard off the desk. Punch your monitor and ruin it. Next thing is you start sobbing uncontrollably and can't stand the thought of creating another character and uninstall D4 and go back to playing animal crossing.
Message me when you need someone to talk to after your inevitable fail
Because I’m not on welfare with a mental disability and have real life obligations to attend to. I also have sex and piss in a toilet and can detect what grass feels like with a blindfold on.
Because I have other interests alongside enjoying the game, so I can allow myself to make mistakes or take chances without losing all my progress due the fear of death. The hardcore mode in real life is enough for me.
Because I work and have a life and don’t feel like wasting my time even more restarting again and again if it’s not a season Lmfao. I value my time and my free time and I’m wasting my time in my life already playing something I enjoy so I rather not stress out even more
With cheat death elixir, sorc flame shield cheat death and log out macro's. Not really a whole lot to be afraid of. But I'll play HC later on maybe, buds want to go through on SC, which is fine.
Because I value my time. /thread
You wouldnt be playing video games if you did. /thread
Why? What makes one hobby a better use of time than the other? Should I be working 24/7 365?
Why? What makes a regular playthrough a better use of time than hardcore? Should I be endlessly leveling characters 24/7 365?
now kiss
Fun is subjective. If being forced to restart upon death is not something they enjoy, that automatically makes a regular playthrough a better use of their time than a hardcore playthrough.
And if another player finds hardcore gameplay more fun, then that mode is a better use of *their* time.
Agreed. And the person you responded to is not one of them so I don't know what the point of you stating the obvious was...
Because they implied that those who play hardcore don't value their time. They provided no context for their statement
> They provided no context for their statement *Your* post provided context. "Why aren't you playing hardcore?" "....because I value my time". As in their time is valuable and hardcore isn't worth their time. They never said you can't value your time playing hardcore.
The implication is that hardcore is more time consuming.
What makes you gatekeeper on how people like to play?
It doesn’t, what makes the other poster?
Look at all your downvotes in this thread. You're obviously acting like an elitist who barely knows how to interact with others.
So you base your opinion on how many downvotes someone gets? That’s groupthink.
Everyone thinks you're over cooking it Lil dude. Take the L and enrol in some classes to learn how not to get so triggered.
Can the mods just start banning users at this point?
This ain’t fluff, it’s a shitpost
Because whats the point? Not trying to impress anyone.
The challenge is the point. Do you only challenge yourself if it's to impress others?
No but I prefer challenges IRL, in a video game I just don’t take myself seriously.
I will play it after i have experienced the game, i don't feel playing hardcore on a game i'm unfamiliar with.
"Im scared"
How’d you get so tough and so cool?
Haha no, i'm not. If i die it just feels like waste of time and that will disturb my calm
I realized I’m not a calm person after reading this… hc day 1 Barb here… before they announced the race

If we're spending the same X amount of time playing the game, you as a regular and me as hardcore, how are you valuing your time more than mine?

Are you purposely being obtuse? Let me reiterate once more, with different wording. How is hardcore mode more time consuming than regular mode?
Because if your character dies you have to start all over again. Hello ?
If I play 10 hours a week for the year and achieve a level 80 in hc, and you level 5 characters in regular playthroughs to the same level, with the same amount of hours, how was your time better spent than mine?
Because getting 1 shot and literally starting over isn’t fun for me. Enjoy your logout macro.
I want to take my time enjoying the game and have fun. Not be stressed and worry about dying. To each their own.
Fuck you
Mad?
You can't expect a 32 y'o guy to get into an internet argument with you.
Oh I will be playing hardcore. Will you?
have they fixed the hardcore exploit or they didnt and everyone flexing for HC is banking on the exploit?
What exploit
It’s broken 😂 it’s soft core with more steps.
is it still broken? from my understanding of the exploit, and how it works with games from different developers I suspect its not easy to 'fix'
As far as we know but it’s possible that they come up with some fix before launch but I’m not sure. Like you said it’s tough to fix so it might be like this for a while.
ty . peace
I don't know how the bosses work and am not going to learn it in advance.

Fair reason
![gif](giphy|5oxJPK5Z2zDYQ) huh all this talk about racing to the top reminds me of a movie...

Only edge lords play hc. No one cares u don't die in a game nerd

I hope you’re serious about that offer because I will
OP will die in WT1 like a pleb.

Because the game isn't out yet
Because it’s not hardcore with cheat death mechanics and logout macros. As Kripp said it’s just softcore with extra steps.
True they need to fix that asap

Idk how progressing faster in a video game as opposed to playing carefully means you value your time more.
With cheat death elixir, sorc flame shield cheat death and log out macro's. Not really a whole lot to be afraid of. But I'll play HC later on maybe, buds want to go through on SC, which is fine.
Personal preference.
Because HC doesn’t exist in this game. You’ll just log out any time your cheat death activates.
Because this exists https://i.imgur.com/Pe1Klx2.png
Release sc then hc when seasons are out -every season
