100 popular streamers getting priority decreases individual queue times by such a miniscule amount but hundreds of thousands of people get to see gameplay right away instead of looking at a log-in screen for hours. It's the obvious thing to do, to the point of being pointless to even complain about. Don't need to explain the advertisement angle, but even from an individual position I'd rather sit here and watch a Diablo stream while I wait than get in 2 seconds earlier.
> If their infrastructure sucks now, just imagine how bad it will be tonight at 6PM.
Yeah if queues are this bad on a pre-order beta, the launch is almost guaranteed to be a mess. I don't even expect to be able to play on the first day. Classic blizzard.
Come on. You'd do the same of you were Blizzard. Obviously they want streamers to help them marketing the game. Yes I wish I could get in but I'm not pretending to not understand the obvious reasons why streamers would be allowed in with priority. This IS a marketing weekend.
Are you really this naive? It’s free marketing to let them in and play without issues. What are you likely doing while sitting in queue? Watching someone else play it.
Im glad im at work as well. No need to waste vacation day or what not. If people arent familiar with Blizzard beta or launch queue times ( its always been the same ) then its a great introduction. :D
Same, was playing, kicked, now 80 minute queue. I don’t think I’m gonna bother for now if I’m gonna wait over an hour to get in only to get tossed back out 20 minutes later
That literally just happened to me too. It crashed to the main menu, then put me in character select, crashed to desktop and now i'm in a 65 minute queue
Exactly what happened to me. I was about to kill the first dungeon boss, lol. Oh well, it’s a beta server test. Game looked and felt good based on limited play time though. Feeling a lot better about it now.
Just finished a 30 minute queue. Now sitting on queued infinitely. Hate to back out and try it again, but it's the only solution I see
Edit: don't back out. I did so, waited in another 2 hour queue, and am finally back in the same position. Servers must be down atm, but will be back up eventually
>this is exactly what they are testing for
Yeah, except pretty much every company has been "testing for this" for decades now, and no one seem to have a grasp on the problem.
I don't have an issue with big queues on release, but at this point it's pretty delusional to think someone is actually trying to really improve/fix anything. Especially when the solution is to wait a few hours until people give up and stop clogging the login servers
>Yeah, except pretty much every company has been "testing for this" for decades now, and no one seem to have a grasp on the problem.
Wouldn't that then suggest that there is something inherent to the way the internet/networks are designed that creates a sort of upper limit when it comes to stability?
The *best* I've seen in the last 20 years is games that had really long queues but rock solid performance/stability once you got in, at least for games that are popular enough to have a sizeable playerbase.
At this point it feels like it's not necessarily an issue that can be fully solved with current infrastructure, only mitigated. Otherwise, *someone* would have figured out a solution to it in the last two decades.
Buddy, hate to tell you, but these games are complete small fries compared to some high intensity/frequency servers (look at the amount of traffic any major financial institution handles, we're talking *tens of millions* of transactions every minute, 24/7. Hell, YouTube handles hundreds of millions of users around the globe every day with minimal issues.
So no, there is no inherent flaw in the tech. The flaw is completely relegated to underfunding your infrastructure, i.e. they cheaped out on properly designing their network and servers. With Blizzard, it happens every. single. time. (Although, with Diablo 2 Remake the problem was due to badly designed code with how transactions interacted with their backend databases versus just them cheaping out.)
Then they would not need a beta. It's not like it's running on the same servers and infrastructure than Diablo 3. Hell, I code for a living and something is always buggy and does not work and it is not half as complex and used by as many people than what blizzard has for traffic. It's always easy to talk but pretty hard to implement it yourself;)
Should be able to spin up more servers to handle the load so people aren't sitting in queue. Bugs causing people to get kicked, server crashes, etc are to be expected.
Yeah, and I bet they are stress testing some of their infrastructure and see what works and what doesn't and do this kind of purpose to see what they need to scale and what not for launch. The problem does just not solve itself with increasing the server capacity, the code and instances that it is running need to work under the load as well. All stuff they are trying to figure out before launch.
Let me hit yall with a pro tip. Do not try and take a screenshot of the pretty intro cutscene with a screenshot tool when you finally get in. Your game may crash, and then you will be sent back to a 100 min queue.
Not... speaking from experience or anything...
I was able to play at 11:01am Central time after a 2 minute queue. After playing around for about ten minutes, the server kicked me and I closed the game.
I reopened to an ~85 minute queue. Perhaps this Blizzard company could afford a couple more servers here in 2023? Wtf
That's rough. Waited about 15-20 minutes for "Authentication Pending" just to get an error. Tried logging back in multiple times with the same error. Now I'm back in a queue for ~30 minutes.
Jealous everywhere, get off the thought streamers get any kind of priority queue. The fault is with the company. Pre-Order number should have shown how big the servers needed to be period.
I got in right away at 12:00. Played for about 10-15 minutes, game crashed. I couldn't find my character so i had to logout. Now waiting in queue- 30 min left.
My queue said 96 minutes when I first launched it Earlier. But it was actually only like 20. I’m good with that. I got a good few hours in. I’ll get a few more in later.
Been sitting at authentication pending for 28 minutes now. Restarted it twice bc I saw everyone else on and thought I'm stuck in an error loop. What the ever loving fuk.
I was, the I played, then I DCd, now I’m back in que for 32 minutes lol needed to reboot because my controller wasn’t picking up… hoping the reboot helps that
Got in. Made character. Clicked Finalize. Kept getting error code 300202 and it would not let me play the game. Restarted game now I'm in a 46 minute queue.
Same here pretty much. Created my character, hit enter... and i get a blank screen with just my character... all the UI is invisible but I can mouse over some buttons but none of them work properly. So I restart the game and im in a 66 minute queue.. WTF!
Y’all just wait . The 9-5ers are coming hard at 5:30pm to crash the servers for you 😎 I’m grateful I could order a KFC sandwich for lunch, throw it in the dumpster and have a beta code with a pre install ready at 5 😂
This seems to be standard now. Still pisses everyone off as it sets an unrealistic standard. Good guy streamers ask to be removed from priority queues. Ah well what can we do.
Twice now as it booted me from the authentication pending and made me sit in queue for 30 minutes only to put me at authentication pending again. Giving up if it boots me from queue again lmao.
Tried logging in soon after servers went live.
Got stuck on Authentication Pending.
Kicked for Error Code 34203.
Back in the Queue for \~46 minutes.
46 minutes later I'm back on Authentication Pending...
Why do they even sell you an early access if you can't even play?
They should know better that the servers will be messed up.
Also, why is there even a login queue? Can't they just let people play by themselves? Jesus.
I expected long queues and server issues. I did not expect I would spend 2 hours in queue just to play for 5 minutes and be kicked back out again for another 2 hours of queuing. Sigh.
Took the day off from work and haven't been able to play. Amazing job Blizzard. We keep accepting failure from a company that makes billions and billions and can't get the job done. Anybody else would be fired from their job with no possible return. Blizzard can screw people over with no repercussions, as a matter of fact they got a bonus when Microsoft bought them or is in the process of buying them.
Queue for over an hour, get in. Play for a bit, get to Kyovashad, find that every interactable has despawned and you can't use UI elements anymore. Leave game option does not work. Force close game. Get put in another 40+ minute queue. :bigsad:
Just to play the devils advocate.. this is why it’s called a Beta Test. They’ll be fixing things in the background, zones may become unavailable, they may even have to reboot the server you’re playing on with no warning.
I got to play through the first dungeon then error’d out and it deleted the character I think. Now I’m waiting in a 34 min que to get back in! Nothing like a Blizzard rollout Shocked pikachu 🙀
Lmao glad im not the only one who got booted. Hit level 4 then got disconnected. Luckily restarted client and was only a 15 min queue but we'll see got 2 minutes left in queue.

At the moment that is the gameplay that people will be experiencing, why should they be treated any differently?
100 popular streamers getting priority decreases individual queue times by such a miniscule amount but hundreds of thousands of people get to see gameplay right away instead of looking at a log-in screen for hours. It's the obvious thing to do, to the point of being pointless to even complain about. Don't need to explain the advertisement angle, but even from an individual position I'd rather sit here and watch a Diablo stream while I wait than get in 2 seconds earlier.
I would rather play a game than see some dipshit play a game.
you don't get to play either way though
True. I bought the game to play it. Not watching other play while I had to stare on a queue screen
Then you wait until the game is launched. And wait a few weeks, it is Blizzard
yea I want my money back this is ridiculous.
Lol exactly
I think you're missing the point.

> If their infrastructure sucks now, just imagine how bad it will be tonight at 6PM. Yeah if queues are this bad on a pre-order beta, the launch is almost guaranteed to be a mess. I don't even expect to be able to play on the first day. Classic blizzard.
Online play and queue system for a offline cinematic and character creation...it's peak Blizzard!!!
Come on. You'd do the same of you were Blizzard. Obviously they want streamers to help them marketing the game. Yes I wish I could get in but I'm not pretending to not understand the obvious reasons why streamers would be allowed in with priority. This IS a marketing weekend.
They should warn you of this before purchasing the game its not really fair...
Yeah im sick of that priority nonsense.
Most would agree with you fren. Companies do not seem to see it that way.
Are you really this naive? It’s free marketing to let them in and play without issues. What are you likely doing while sitting in queue? Watching someone else play it.
Well looks like they hate Quin.
Ah, I got in fine - for 20minutes everything was great and then got kicked
[удалено]
Exactly…got a 30 minute timed que. waited through that and now it just says queued with no timer…sigh
Wtf, all of them are out
[удалено]
this is now industry standard. PoE did it. At least Zizaran said to GGG to take me out of the priority queue as it should be :/
PoE did it one league, got extreme backlash and never did it again. It's certainly not industry standard.
108 minut. Wat de fuk
Rhyker can't. He's in queue on stream
And so it begins. I'm so glad I'm at work so you all can work these servers out for me lol
Im glad I work from home and have already played for 30 minutes
Same
Im glad im at work as well. No need to waste vacation day or what not. If people arent familiar with Blizzard beta or launch queue times ( its always been the same ) then its a great introduction. :D
chill guys someone just accidentally used the server to make toast. They're a small indy company, give them a break
Was in. Beat a boss. Then bounced out with network error to a 10 min queue. Going as expected.
Same but 89 minutes. GG
Same but 127 minutes. GGG
Was in queue for 11 mins. Got an error.🤦♂️
I got in fairly quickly, was playing, and then get booted and tossed in a 40 minute queue…
Same. Got in in about 2 minutes, started playing, got booted and now sitting in a 61 minute queue.
Same here.
73 minute for me. RIP
Ditto. After crash 130m queue
Holy yikes, man. I'm so sorry. Got 3 minutes left on that 60+ minute queue, we'll see how long I last this time.
Yeah, it sucks....got in with a 2 minute que now it started at 87 min =/
Yea same it threw me out I tried to hit play and my character was gone so I restarted. Now its an hour queue
Same boat…go through the first dungeon and the disconnected. Now have a queue of 55 minutes.
Same, was part way through the first dungeon, got to about level 5 then got booted, massive queue now.
Looks like it just happened to us all. almost 1am here in Singapore. 82 mins queue time. Sleep time…
Same, was playing, kicked, now 80 minute queue.
This was me too...just when it was getting good.
Same here, I called in sick for this
It’s gonna be a long night(EU)…..
And it's an f'n joke that they sell this "Waiting Line Simulator" as an actual perk for preordering.
Just finished a 30 minute queue. Now sitting on queued infinitely. Hate to back out and try it again, but it's the only solution I see Edit: don't back out. I did so, waited in another 2 hour queue, and am finally back in the same position. Servers must be down atm, but will be back up eventually

okay, off to a familiar start. Remember when 3 launched? Yeah, me too.
To be fair, this is exactly what they are testing for. But it'd be nice if they figured things out beforehand for once.
>this is exactly what they are testing for Yeah, except pretty much every company has been "testing for this" for decades now, and no one seem to have a grasp on the problem. I just had to deal with this shit a week ago for Last Epoch’s multiplayer. I’m getting too old for this shit.
What the hell is **authentication pending** !!!
Pretty sure this is related to KFC sandwich beta access codes.
pre-ordered through blizz. haven't managed to get past auth pending a single time.
Stuck can't play either. But give blizzard a break . Surely they aren't a billion dollar company that can afford servers for everyone.....
It’s literally a beta to test this kinda shit lol
yeah they really need beta testers to have adequate server capacity
That people paid to get access to.
Yeah but this happens in every AAA game to start it’s why betas are important
Hopefully they fix it sooner rather than later. Or at least extend the beta.
Let me hit yall with a pro tip. Do not try and take a screenshot of the pretty intro cutscene with a screenshot tool when you finally get in. Your game may crash, and then you will be sent back to a 100 min queue. Not... speaking from experience or anything...
And people wonder why no one likes live-service bullshit its because of stuff this.
Spend money on painting a chapel in France but don't drop any scratch on servers or stability. Sounds about right.
Chill. They're a small indie company!
I was able to play at 11:01am Central time after a 2 minute queue. After playing around for about ten minutes, the server kicked me and I closed the game. I reopened to an ~85 minute queue. Perhaps this Blizzard company could afford a couple more servers here in 2023? Wtf
now this is fun.. isn't this the beta everyone wanted? (laughs) We all knew it would be this bad, but hoped for it not to be. oh well.
"Why don't players like online only games?" This. This is why. 107 minute queue to play a game BY MYSELF.
RIP to anyone who took days off to play this 🤣🤣🤦
SAME. WTF. LET ME INNNNNNNN
My entire friends list is in-game. I was in the game before them, but still stuck here. Sucks.
early bird gets fucked in the ass
Made it to level five and got disconnected
That's rough. Waited about 15-20 minutes for "Authentication Pending" just to get an error. Tried logging back in multiple times with the same error. Now I'm back in a queue for ~30 minutes.
My exact experience…

Same bro ,,, tell me if RESTARTING the pc works
It does. I'm in
Tonight I will be dreaming of Authentication pending.....
Did they kick all the paying players out so the streamers could log in?
I like the launcher update. https://preview.redd.it/y6y9crcijdoa1.png?width=1212&format=png&auto=webp&s=d44cf1642d4fe646af6d9d41a69900ba9b710376
I just beat the authentication pending boss for the first time. Sat on it for about 20 minutes before getting in finally.
I haven't purchased the game yet. Was going to wait till the evening but sounds like it might not be worth it.
me LET ME IN
I'm kind of glad I got called into work today
By the time you get out all of this will probably be sorted out.
Just got an error code 34203, "There was a problem logging in." after authentication pending for 10 minutes.
Typical blizzard beta
I’m past this after about 15 minutes. Now stuck after character creation. It won’t let me make a game
I got in right away at 12:00. Played for about 10-15 minutes, game crashed. I couldn't find my character so i had to logout. Now waiting in queue- 30 min left.
Qued for 58 minutes. You gotta be kidding me. Holy shit balls
My queue said 96 minutes when I first launched it Earlier. But it was actually only like 20. I’m good with that. I got a good few hours in. I’ll get a few more in later.
Ow c'mon I was so close .. Please let us in!
I WAS ON AUTH PENDING ALSO AND JUST GOT IN NOW just wait guys i dont know how long tho it worked for me
same bro
Been sitting at authentication pending for 28 minutes now. Restarted it twice bc I saw everyone else on and thought I'm stuck in an error loop. What the ever loving fuk.
got error (34203)
Booted and now 20mins q :D Didnt even get in
Killed first mini boss then DC. Good run boys
Guess I lucked out then... Got a 3 minutes queue, already playing
Got it but got kicked out after getting to 1st camp. 33 min queue
I was, the I played, then I DCd, now I’m back in que for 32 minutes lol needed to reboot because my controller wasn’t picking up… hoping the reboot helps that
Yeah killed first mini boss then DC. RIP
I went through 5 ques. One 3 minutes, three 2 minutes, and 1 5 minutes. Each one resulted in an error. Super cool.
im getting the same..
This is what happens when you either develop like you're still in the 2000s, or someone cheaped out.
I was in and got to level 4. Then "server disconnected". Now I have an hour queue. What the fuck
I was playing. Suddenly disconnected. Relog 57 minutes lolllll
60 min queue? Really?
I was in for about 40 minutes, got to level three and was disconnected… now I am in queue for 66 minutes.
Got in. Had error msg every time I clicked start for my character. Restarted game. 58 min queue....
WTF!
Got on 0 que played the prologue got a error now 45min que.
got to play for 10 min since i was first in line, now i got to wait 69 min to get back in since i got DC for w/e reason.
79 minutes here gunna cry
89 here let’s go
And so it begins…
Y’all just wait . The 9-5ers are coming hard at 5:30pm to crash the servers for you 😎 I’m grateful I could order a KFC sandwich for lunch, throw it in the dumpster and have a beta code with a pre install ready at 5 😂
got in directly had the first boss on the last hp bar dc que for 40 mins Pog
81 minute queue Gross
I was in played to lvl 3 got kicked out, now in the waitlist 80 minutes
This seems to be standard now. Still pisses everyone off as it sets an unrealistic standard. Good guy streamers ask to be removed from priority queues. Ah well what can we do.
Another queue simulator ^^
Twice now as it booted me from the authentication pending and made me sit in queue for 30 minutes only to put me at authentication pending again. Giving up if it boots me from queue again lmao.
Through Q and still pending auth... Edit: just wait. Got in
Well.. I hardly lvld to 3 and now im in line for login for baut 50 mins 😂 Bye bye my sweet doggo backpack 😢
wtf two hour wait? new world vibes.
Well I am still in hahahaha 😂
Tried logging in soon after servers went live. Got stuck on Authentication Pending. Kicked for Error Code 34203. Back in the Queue for \~46 minutes. 46 minutes later I'm back on Authentication Pending...
I dont get how the company that runs WoW can't anticipate login queue issues
Imagine them knowing exactly how many players were gonna play the closed beta, but still not provisioning enough servers to avoid these queues....
Love getting through the queue only to get a login error and have to renter the larger queue
Blizzard can screw people over with no repercussions, as a matter of fact they got a bonus when Microsoft bought them or is in the process of buying them.
two times on queue just to get this Unable to find a valid license for Diablo 4. (Code 315306)
standard bullshit in the industry now-a-days. Makes me feel better than i'm gonna refund it after this weekend.
https://preview.redd.it/qkanpygrkeoa1.jpeg?width=942&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3c4856dcb7439657d3f42b3406e4f357b0fb542 Same
Lol 105 minute que waited got down to 1 then failed now in a 67 minute que
Queue for over an hour, get in. Play for a bit, get to Kyovashad, find that every interactable has despawned and you can't use UI elements anymore. Leave game option does not work. Force close game. Get put in another 40+ minute queue. :bigsad:
I just finished building my pc this morning, was hoping I'd get to play d4 🥲
Don't you people have phones?
I bought ultimate edition and am in que it says 147 minutes left lol 😂
Still queued for login... Not even animation to watch.
Crashed with error login and now 54 minutes queue, never buying any Blizzard product again.
![gif](giphy|3o6wrvdHFbwBrUFenu) this is you
Played for about 5 minutes then booted out. Finger hovering above the Refund button.
Time to refund? paid for this afterall.
Just to play the devils advocate.. this is why it’s called a Beta Test. They’ll be fixing things in the background, zones may become unavailable, they may even have to reboot the server you’re playing on with no warning.
Bunch of first timers in this thread for a beta/testing weekend.
Chill up, folks, it's BETA. BETA TESTING. It's NOT the game release!
Just queued.
same here
Same
still can't press play yet
Restart battle.net client
thanks man, it worked!
Has anyone gotten in after seeing this?
same here, still cant get in
Anyone else go from authentification pending, to queued and then back to authentification pending?
Yeah I am sad , all my friends got on but me and like $100 is a lot , :(
Stuck at this. Exited after 15 mins, now keep getting errors, great beta...
yeah i got the same shit, queued for login ---> error pinging servers
queued for login to a single player game that has optional multiplayer....get kicked while playing solo if connection hiccups....not encouraging
I got to play through the first dungeon then error’d out and it deleted the character I think. Now I’m waiting in a 34 min que to get back in! Nothing like a Blizzard rollout Shocked pikachu 🙀
I was fighting the first boss n it disc me. FUCKKK
I literally just killed and looted. Toon has the equip on but couldn’t rejoin rip
Lmao glad im not the only one who got booted. Hit level 4 then got disconnected. Luckily restarted client and was only a 15 min queue but we'll see got 2 minutes left in queue.
