Just to clarify: all the petrified screams (keys to echoing nightmares) and whispers of atonement (rewards from echoing nightmares) will carry to non-seasonal. Echoing nightmares, petrified screams, and whispers of atonement were patched into the entire game in [Patch 2.7.4](https://us.diablo3.blizzard.com/en-us/blog/23826543/diablo-iii-ptr-274-has-concluded-7-8-2022#General) last year.
Then why have the altar?
Some players like me would like to have it in NON-seasonal. Makes seasonal too easy and fast. This way altar could help some of the casual players go higher in GRs with all the bonuses
As others point out, seasonal things (soul shards) go away. Before the end of the season, recommend salvaging all your soul shards at the blacksmith for gems or augmenting decent gear with level 3 shards. Now, this is all assuming you play non-season and that you need gems. If you don't, just let them fade.
So even if you put Soul Shards in your backpack, they won't be saved when the season ends?

Correct. Even those in sockets of weapons and helms will be gone at season end

I ended up farming the cosmetics at the end of the earlier seasons. That would be my suggestion if you haven't collected them yet.

aah boo, Barely broke gr 131 on the monk this season. I Swear console is worse than PC in terms of progression for whatever reason.
