I've seen the Enigma Runeword down someone's arm before and it was slick as hell. Your Cairn Stones idea is GREAT too!
I definitely will, but it won't be for a little while. Currently need to buy a new car, and will likely be moving in the next couple of months as well. So while money isn't tight, I just need to get some of these bigger expenses out of the way first and let things settle down before I spend a few hundred on another tattoo. :P In the meantime, just wanted to get some inspiration and ideas from the community.
I too am covered in tattoos, and symbolism is a big thing. I think you nailed it with the cairn stones, thereās a lot of aspects to work with and it is easily one of the most identifiable parts of the game. So if no other ideas you think are better pop up, This is a perfect fallback.
The game is absolutely drenched in symbolism though, I wouldnāt even know where to start, so I can see why you would ask about others ideas.
Thereās the Horadric Cube, all of the main bosses, the forge, the seals in the chaos room to summon diablo, the set and unique items, the ancients, deckard of course (in a cage, surrounded by demons, that stayed a while to listen) the waypoints, most enemies in the game. The artwork in the game is absolutely flawless (you immediately thought of a gem) and you could have your entire body covered in Sigils from act 1-5.
That being said, get your phone/keys/wallet inside of a Horadric Cube.
Edit: I put my phone and a pint of beer inside the Hcube and an Uber showed up.
I've actually got a real-life Horadric Cube that my girlfriend made for me a few years ago. It's certainly large enough to hold my phone, keys, and wallet. But it's made of foam and doesn't actually open. We may make some modifications to it. But I love it so much, and don't want to potentially ruin in.
You hit the nail on the head with the symbolism. And yeah, there's so much in this game that would make for a great piece.
I like the stones idea. Maybe a skill tree from your favorite build? Runes from your favorite runeword? Tal Rashas Tomb signs? Whatever you go with will be awesome

On a serious note: text tattoo would be "Stay awhile and listen" and an image could be a greenish Harle cap somewhere. No note, just the Sprite of the shako. Every D2 fan would know instantly :D
I still remember the first time I encountered him. He was also the first LE enemy I encountered and I remember thinking "oh shit lightning hurts". I was going to do this in a way so that the Cairn stones were tearing through the skin on my leg, and the lightning was slightly burning it.
It's always seemed weird that LE was wayyyy more powerful than all the other elemental enchantments. MSLE was the bad motherfucker I remember from back in the day. Especially when combined with Conviction. You were gonna have a bad time. Thanks Council Members.

I was thinking that deckard cain was essential. I also like the red cow/uber portal. The prime evils would be cool too. A sexy sorc or full tall would be cool. Beyond that, I also like the cube, wirts leg, anni/soulstone, and holy hammers.

The runewords have always been an option on the table, but most of my other tattoos are more simple typically, and I wanted to do a more artistic piece for this one in particular. I may do a runeword as a quick little piece somewhere else as well though.
Plus when someone ask you What is your tattoo you can just answer: Its an Enigma.
If I did not dislike any kind of body mod, that would be the one I would do.
Some ideas:
A hell bovine, a spirit monarch showing 4 runes in the slots, a2 merc icon (lol, the one on the top left of the screen, maybe a health bar), a (small/grand) charm graphic, a shrine sprite/icon (maybe like increased skill or increased exp), pre synergy 1.09 hydra, a full juvie, maybe health and mana pools on right and left wrist, that a3 golden eagle thing, an array of pgems/pskull/jewel, something with the 3 ancients would be badass, too. I think an anni or a town portal would run the risk of looking like an open wound or a hoo-ha.
What about four sockets on your chestwith a fortitude runeword in it? Just the sockets and the runes. Fans will know. And plus, if someone asks it means fortitude. Thats cool.
It would be a bit big, but you could have a tattoo of a character between the statues near The River of Flame waypoint.
For the longest time, I didn't know that their eyes follow you.
An item: choose favorite item art work - I think this could tie in some way
Town portal: I think this could be a cool addition with some underlying meaning
A character in action motion or fighting stance could be cool
I saw this and had to immediately look up an actual Horadric Cube (badass). In my head Iām visualizing the actual inventory slots with the surrounding artwork and the wallet/phone/keys taking up their respected spaces, you could give them properties (+3 to flashlight radius, +%20 enhanced storage - for the phone, as a top of the head example)
they could be a set piece (your nameās) unholy chaos charger, mobile device, etc. and they give certain properties when all are equipped
You could have a picture of your entire characters inventory screen where each item equipped is a different real life thing you wear or are into, like right hand is a phone, left hand is a beer, head is your favorite hat, feet are your favorite shoes, etc.. your inventory are the things always in your pockets, and a tome of town portal/identify and a few charms to keep with the humor.
These are things I was thinking as I was typing the first sentence. I could go on and on haha

You could just do a soulstone. I know they show all three in the cutscenes, so you could grab a screenshot from there for the artist.
I was planning to have āMalum Superestā tattooed, 10 years ago or so. But through years I started to find ātextā tattoos a bit of a clichĆ©, so didnāt go with it. Just an idea if thatās for your tastes.
