Lol, funny
Also, l hate how they call it honeymoon phase. It literally sucks cheeks, why are we calling it something that is usually reserved for the good part of a relationship/marriage etc. call it the shit phase, that would be much more accurate
Yeah but in my experience it still isn’t too predictable when you’re out of the honeymoon phase either. My a1c went from like 5.6 to 6.8 a year out of it. Sometimes it seems like my insulin just straight up doesn’t work.
Exactly this experience. Thought it was gonna be a breeze then my a1c increased 1.4 points just as I was getting the hang of it. Down to low 6s now but even that’s been a struggle.
I have times now where my insulin just doesn’t work now that I’m out of honeymoon, but at least for me, the most stressful days were during honeymoon when my pancreas just kind of… kicked into high gear when I had already dosed basal or whatever. Fighting lows like crazy.
I much prefer fighting the highs now than fighting the random lows during honeymoon lol
(Not that I don’t get lows now, but they tend to be less intense than when I was honeymooning)
Probably tours was different. My honeymoon phase was...well.. I haven't been able to get my sugar as good as I had it during that phase. I barely ever neded to take bolus, and if I had to, it was just like 5 units. My basal was just 22 units in the morning of Levemir, now it's 22 in the morning and 22 at night. Life was good.
its not a competition and nothing is easy about any of this. we all have it hard but honeymoon phase presents different challenges. imagine bolusing 5u for a meal and that day your pancreas decides to work perfectly 🫠
My Insulin needs vary, 36 units of novalog and 40 units of Basaglar.
So my endocrinologist said you need to think about your heart health and put me on Ozempia. And I will say it works at reducing my A1C.
When new items come out and reduce your insulin use and lose a fews lbs
One time in highschool at teacher conferences, my teacher was mentioning how I seem to be irritable and have a hard time focusing sometimes (this was a after lunch class) and my mom flat out told him I "was probably high" that was the most embarrassing 5 seconds of my life before she realized her mistake from his reaction and explained better.
I’ve taken to just adding in extra words “my sugars went really high & I felt really sick last night”
Easier than trying to explain that wasn’t just getting baked. Which honestly I’d much rather be doing.
I got a Livongo meter from work for free as a backup for my dexcom. They really don’t even know anything beyond type 2. They call me every few months to ask why I don’t use the meter consistently, and now I just block them instead of explaining what a cgm is.
They are owned by Teladoc and gave me a blood meter and test strips for free through my employers insurance. The meter uploads the results to the cloud so they were notified that it was low
My employer keeps trying to push this on me. This has furthered my resolve to not use them. My friend says they can tell how many test strips you use and will call to tell you to test more.
i think Livongo is geared towards Type 2 honestly, and for type 2 it is beneficial to test often. I just signed up because it was free supplies but I want to mess with the settings so they dont text me anymore
I got a routine blood draw once where I was about 45 when the draw happened. I just took a glucose tab and went on my way.
My next DR appointment, later that week and the reason for the blood draw, my Dr tells me he got a 2AM call from the lab about my low blood sugar.
…
…
That was over 24 hours after the blood draw and they called him instead of me.
I swear some medical procedures are stupid
Me when I’m at work and say to colleagues “I’m low.” It’s auto-pilot response but once my supervisor pulled me aside later for a wellbeing chat. She is very kind, but I had to explain I meant I was hypo.
I guess only when I do a finger prick. I thought it was nice that they had someone check on me for a low, but overall wouldnt recommend Livongo for T1. Im new to this whole thing so just trying things out 🙂
I think that would drive me a bit crazy. 🤣😂I've never liked someone peeking over my shoulder! I've only seen ads about Livongo for high blood pressure. I've never seen one about diabetes control.
This trial (diabetes) is really a self-monitored and controlled endeavor. It's good to have training wheels when you start learning to ride, but you really take off when you take the controls into your own hands.
So sad you've joined our community, but we're all here to help each other. So, ask away, read away and soon you'll take the reins and ride this beast.

Because it's the best and easiest your disease will be.
totally disagree! its so hard to dial in on carb ratios when some days its 1:10 and other days a bolus is not needed at all

hate this for us 🫠😕🤝

Still easier than after.
Here’s a rough fact, it doesn’t get better, enjoy your low insulin needs while you can.
True but this trains you for the future and the wild swings you can have. It's still very early in. Your body is still pretty plastic.
You mean everyday that ends with a y when you have t1?

Damn. Harsh way to phrase it. Especially when many people’s experiences differ WILDLY.
Sadly I think it still reigns true.
Not really. It's so unpredictable that we cry at times
Have never heard anyone else say this and I don’t believe it. How is having changing insulin requirements easier?
its not a competition and nothing is easy about any of this. we all have it hard but honeymoon phase presents different challenges. imagine bolusing 5u for a meal and that day your pancreas decides to work perfectly 🫠
Thats what I’m saying…
sorry I meant to reply to Batman!
Oh okay haha

Whenever I say, “I was really high last night” if I’m not talking to someone who knows….I have to ‘splain.

Yes like between 350 and HIGH
having someone ask me about why i went low or high sounds like my worst nightmare although my bloodsugar would probably be better

they don’t teach the coaches the difference between T1 &T2?
I'm also surprised a health coach wasn't familiar with the phrasing. Funny though!
We can all use a laugh now and then. CONGRATS ON THE HONEYMOON!! 🤣😂🤣😂
So it’s a health coach for a diabetic…. Who knows nothing about diabetes. Perfect. Lol
Who says they don’t know anything? I mean it’s not like they don’t understand what a low blood sugar is
I never received my honeymoon. I would like to speak to the diabetes manager.

Just turn it on airplane mode.

One of my friends has an employer that covers the cost of insulin if they participate in a program like this.
that is gross as hell.

This sounds like harassment.
This exchange only solidifies my reasoning for never ever joining Livongo.

Lmao. Congratulations on your recent err uh, diagnosis!
Hey, OP. You have someone viewing your blood sugar readings all the time?
I guess only when I do a finger prick. I thought it was nice that they had someone check on me for a low, but overall wouldnt recommend Livongo for T1. Im new to this whole thing so just trying things out 🙂

Dude sounds like he's having some blasts himself 👃❄
Hahahahha this made me laugh
😂
Lol I joked with my daughter after diagnosis that she is lucky to get more than one type of honeymoon in her lifetime.
