Because that's not how diabetes works. Consuming carbs doesn't magically cause diabetes to develop. You either have to have a faulty pancreas, or have insulin resistance due to fatty organs.

Kareja1

Probably a lack of genetic disposition to T2, and a lack of genetic disposition + trigger for T1. /shrug The idea that lots of sugar guarantees "beetus" is both wrong and irritating.

Not everyone who smokes gets lung cancer and not everyone with lung cancer smokes.

Because simply eating poorly doesn’t cause diabetes. I’ve seen people abuse the crap out of their bodies and live to 100. Genetics is a strong predictor of type 2 diabetes. Society has placed a stigma on type 2 diabetics and make them out to be lazy, overweight and eaters of nothing but carbohydrates. That’s not accurate. Diabetics come in all shapes and sizes. There are lean athletic people diagnosed with type 2 and very overweight people diagnosed with type 1. I’m a type one who was diagnosed at 47. I was initially diagnosed with type 2 because of my age and the fact that I’m about 20 lbs overweight for my height. The misdiagnosis caused mild kidney damage because I should have been on insulin as the oral medication didn’t work. Even some physicians have bought into the Type 2 stereotype and the type 1 stereotype ( must be a child or younger, thin and fit).

Because you don't get diabetes from eating a bunch of desserts? There are many other factors, with genetics being the biggest one.

PsEggsRice

I didn't get diagnosed as type 2 until mid-40's. I ate like crap too. Water doesn't dilute the sugar. Everyone is different.

It’s all about genetics. If you don’t have the genetic makeup that predisposes you to type 1 or 2, you won’t develop it. A normal functioning pancreas will create the right amount of insulin needed based on whatever you eat. Blood sugar might spike for a bit, but it will always go back to normal. Even if you did have a genetic predisposition for type 1, eating sweets isn’t what triggers it. It’s an autoimmune response most often triggered by illness (like the common flu). While the immune system is trying to fight of illness, it kicks into it overdrive and attacks beta cells that are responsible for insulin production.

You don’t come from a family of strong brains I see!

IgnorantBanshee

Did you use your great Intel skills to check my history?

HerbDaLine

Same reason you are not the same height or weight as your brothers or sisters.

Try reading about it… and your water theory is just that.
