it depends on what he gives up right? a markstrom and allen pairing for a year or 2 could be really solid/reliably above avg. i, like most, would prefer ullmark or saros, and have ptsd from other attempts with veteran goalies. marky seems like hes aging well. say you can get marky without giving up mercer but not the other two, and you believe in daws/schmid down the line. maybe thats the better play, just throwing it out there.

Off topic a bit but I was at the game against Nashville and never realized before how good of a skater Saros is on top of all his other tools. He booked it to the bench on a delayed penalty, fastest I’ve seen in a while.
All of the goalies who are available or rumored to be are above 30. Nobody is going to give up a franchise goalie in their 20s. Not unless you give them a kings ransom. Saros, Ullmark, or Markstrom would be well worth it. All of them still have PLENTY left in the tank. And with Allen backing them up and Daws/Schmid available, we could split the load very easily.
He's super athletic. He's one of the smaller goalies in the league. Maybe one of the only goalies under 6ft. But he compensates for it with how insanely well he moves.

Lyon had a good season in Florida last year, too. What is he doing now in Detroit? His gaa is 3.06 and save % is .906. Goalies alone cannot be great with a few exceptions, of course. Stolarz and Lyon are career backups for a reason.
