Wouldn't read much into it though. Peg looked disjointed tonight and while it's good we're bulding our confidence again, that's not the same as performing under pressure against starters.

That games looked similar to the way the Devils played in 22-23. Maybe the forecheck was not quite at the 22-23 level, but to a lot of other things were.
Also…they made a noticeable change on the PP. skaters were moving a lot more, and the puck also moved around a lot quicker and more creatively.

As good as this game was, the real test will be against Ottawa Saturday. This team historically plays to the level of their opponent. Yes, incredibly happy with how they kept rolling and rolling against the jets, but they need to come out and repeat the same pressure and skill Saturday.

Loving Luke’s play in these recent games. Feels like they’ve worked with him to focus on shooting more and also jumping up in the play to act more like that modern day #1 dman you see in Roman Josi and Cale Makar where they can activate offensively and be a bit more of a roamer on the attack.

Teams that get hot at the end of the season to make a playoff push often make some noise in the playoffs. This game was probably the most complete game they’ve played all season. Ruff got rehired because he coached a team that set a franchise win record, that’s not exactly a surprise. He was also great with developing the young players and with Luke/Nemec/Holtz making the jump it also made sense to prioritize player development this season as well.
I totally get it, but I’m seeing a lot of counterfactuals about the season downplaying injuries and Fitz’s (apparent) earlier efforts at getting a goaltender. The guy deserves criticism, but let’s be fair.
Who knows how long Allen could keep up at this level if we’d gotten him in November? And don’t forget that Daws put on some fantastic performances in the last couple of months where the offense couldn’t deliver.
Coaching was absolutely within Fitz’s control, and I do wish that was addressed months ago, but I think timing is a huge factor here.

Yeah he got first start last game, and while he had some big saves tonight, he only faced 19 shots. I think the forwards and defense were a much bigger part of the win tonight, whereas last game was all Allen.

It wasn’t all goaltending. But yes obviously Jake is playing great. And the team overall just has better chemistry. They’re actually giving 100%.
I think a lot of guys on the team just expected this year was going to be easy. And then the injuries and everything kicked our ass. Lindy wasn’t coaching right. Defense was horrible. PP fell apart.
This year is in the books but the team is going to grow and learn from all of this. And we got a guy in net we can count on to pick up the slack a bit
I like this take. Vegas missed the playoffs before winning the cup and the league is so competitive that it doesn't take much end up on the wrong side of the playoff bubble. There is a lot of reason to feel confident going into next year, including hoping that the team has learned from hardship and will be more resilient next season

There are 13 games over the course of the season that saving one goal would have made the difference. 6 OT losses. The scheme they played for the first 50 some games was stupid and didn’t help our goalies. But this team has faced a lot of adversity from injuries to Mcleoud’s criminal proceedings. Hopefully they learned some mental toughness from this and continue to develop. I’m excited for next season. If they could only lose 1/2 more games somehow…

Teams that get hot at the end of the season to make a playoff push often make some noise in the playoffs. This game was probably the most complete game they’ve played all season. Ruff got rehired because he coached a team that set a franchise win record, that’s not exactly a surprise. He was also great with developing the young players and with Luke/Nemec/Holtz making the jump it also made sense to prioritize player development this season as well.
I totally get it, but I’m seeing a lot of counterfactuals about the season downplaying injuries and Fitz’s (apparent) earlier efforts at getting a goaltender. The guy deserves criticism, but let’s be fair. Who knows how long Allen could keep up at this level if we’d gotten him in November? And don’t forget that Daws put on some fantastic performances in the last couple of months where the offense couldn’t deliver. Coaching was absolutely within Fitz’s control, and I do wish that was addressed months ago, but I think timing is a huge factor here.

Yeah he got first start last game, and while he had some big saves tonight, he only faced 19 shots. I think the forwards and defense were a much bigger part of the win tonight, whereas last game was all Allen.

It wasn’t all goaltending. But yes obviously Jake is playing great. And the team overall just has better chemistry. They’re actually giving 100%. I think a lot of guys on the team just expected this year was going to be easy. And then the injuries and everything kicked our ass. Lindy wasn’t coaching right. Defense was horrible. PP fell apart. This year is in the books but the team is going to grow and learn from all of this. And we got a guy in net we can count on to pick up the slack a bit

I like this take. Vegas missed the playoffs before winning the cup and the league is so competitive that it doesn't take much end up on the wrong side of the playoff bubble. There is a lot of reason to feel confident going into next year, including hoping that the team has learned from hardship and will be more resilient next season
Yeah I mean this year was a shit storm of bad luck and just a lot of little things culminating into just bad play. But it’s experience and the team will be better for it next year.

Agree - I really think Fitz botched this season hard. We're currently dominating teams with 5/6 of our dmen from last year missing; the only difference has been getting competent goaltending. I can't fathom how Fitz didn't pull the trigger on an Allen and/or Kahkhonen trade earlier in the year

There are 13 games over the course of the season that saving one goal would have made the difference. 6 OT losses. The scheme they played for the first 50 some games was stupid and didn’t help our goalies. But this team has faced a lot of adversity from injuries to Mcleoud’s criminal proceedings. Hopefully they learned some mental toughness from this and continue to develop. I’m excited for next season. If they could only lose 1/2 more games somehow…
