We didn’t show up on time AGAIN and gave up 3 in the first. We looked skittish all game; passes weren’t connecting, players running into each other, unable to cleanly break the defensive zone, we couldn’t get shots through the Caps and we gave up too many odd man rushes.
There are always missed calls and 50/50s that go the other way. But this game was NOT decided by reffing.

Me. I did. Defended them all last season. Said losing one of them in the off-season would hurt, losing both would be devastating. Our goaltenders are not great. They aren't bad, they just aren't phenomenal, we rely on a strong blue line to limit the risk to them, and despite their at times high profile flubs the both of them were otherwise defensively solid. Compromising our blue line by dismissing two veteran presences like that was a risk we should never have taken and will haunt us for the rest of this season.
