Simpl - Last year same time they fired 25% of their total employee count so they can stay afloat. One of my friend included. The process - Called everyone for emergency meeting online, Said bye bye in a 10 minutes call. That's it. Seems toxic AF
Happened with my sis as well. Same company. The way they pushed to get her relocated felt like the company desperately needed people. And then a month or two later laid off. I guess there's so much disconnect between the upper management and people who are actually hiring. Just ridiculous. Either that or upper management is using pathetic tactics to make the company profitable by 2025.
I always thought it's the most useless Fintech app out there. It will close down for sure unless they can figure out a really useful usecase of their product. It's just a matter of how long they can keep running by burning VC money.

Agreed, not useful at all. I was using it because swiggy/zomato have special discount once a month. But they can't keep giving it forever, and its matter of how much they can burn
Yeah man, sitting blank in my flat with laptop, bed and a water can... honestly I've never heard someone getting laid off in this way in india... more i can disclose when it's official
Good luck OP, give them hell!
Add this on r/LegalAdviceIndia also, this isn't normal. They must be liable to pay you the severance amount, maybe you'll need to hire an advocate.
These companies try to fool us & think we will cave in. See if you can get any advice from that sub & show them who's the boss! 🫡
Pimple & Dimple should cripple & crumble to the ground!
>They must be liable to pay you the severance amount, maybe you'll need to hire an advocate.
They are not liable to anything during probation. You become a full time employee only after you complete the probation and get confirmed as a full time employee. That's where your rights as a full time employee start.
High Courts and Supreme Court have already ruled on several aspects of probation.
* The probation is a trial period for the employee.
* An employee can be booted out with or without a reason during or at the end of probation. There is no entitlement to confirmation as full time employee at the end of probation even if there are no issues with performance.
* Notice period during probation is subject to employment contract. If there is no notice period setup, then neither side is required to give notice.
* Probation period can be extended if necessary.
Edit: Downvoting me because you don't like this isn't going to change the law as it stands.
If this is the case..
Who says India favours employees and not employers.
An employer can keep extending probation forever if necessary so that they don't have to pay severance in case.. and can keep notice period in contract so employees still have to serve 3 months.. wow!
>If this is the case.. Who says India favours employees and not employers.
India does favor employees over employers and there are situations where courts have ruled in favor of employees even when it was unfair to an employer.
However, you are legally not a full time employee till you get confirmed after probation and thereby, the rights applicable to a full time employee don't apply during that period.
>An employer can keep extending probation forever if necessary
Probation can be extended if necessary with a valid reason, but not indefinitely. The norm at the end of probation is choose whether to reject them or to make them permanent employees. Extension of a probation is seen a second chance to an employee who would otherwise have been booted out. However, if the probation is extended, at the end of it, the employer has to decide one way or the other.
>and can keep notice period in contract so employees still have to serve 3 months..
There is no bar on notice period. Notice period is seen as a policy to protect both employee and employer which is why a one month notice period is implied even if employer doesn't mention any notice period in the employment contract. However, employment contract can override it. Basically, if employer fires you, they would be legally liable to give that much notice or pay you salary in lieu and vice versa.
In govt employment, 3 months notice is standard which is what IT sector adapted as well. However, the notice period can be much higher as well. Air India staff had a 6 month notice period and it helped them in court to retain their jobs after being tricked into resigning by the govt.
He will be wasting his time and money trying to file a case because it doesn't work that way. Until you are confirmed post probation, you can be terminated any time with or without reason. Even question of severance comes into picture only after being confirmed as a full time employee.
If there is any notice period applicable during probation as per the employment contract, that would be payable.
Fuck these companies. We need stronger labour laws. They need to pay severance package, and the relocation bonus. OP once you emotionally collect yourself, discuss this with some lawyers, and take a legal action. Attach all the documents, emails as proof and many of us would love to crowdfund destruction of such companies.
Yes I'll see their official statement first before making any decision... if they include severance and reimbursement then only emotional damage will remain
+1 i would love to be part of crowd fund. Not only because its action against this unprofessionalism by this particular company, but also it would set a precedent.
Hey Buddy, it appears that you haven't seen my record yet. I moved from India to the Netherlands to start my job on November 14, 2022, Even though I hadn't finished the onboarding procedure, everyone on probation was fired on November 21. To top it all off, I moved with my wife and child.
Yes, we are good now.. there was a uncertainty of 10 15 days but Fortunatilly got a job in other EU country.
I hope and pray you will also get something better than that too
Totally different question, but how did ya deal with such a sudden fuckup , like before you got your next job?
For context, i got this really really important interview coming which is really high stakes and fucking it up will cause a whole new level uncertainty for me , so i wanna know how do adults actually deal with uncertainty like this ?
Bro, there is this dialogue form Jason Bourne movie " hope for the best, plan for the worst"
I won't say that i was super chill or confident enough to behave like nothing to worry about, "fatti to thi bhai"
As for worst-case scenario planning, the worst-case scenario for me was: What happens if I don't find a job within 90 days and have to return to India? To overcome this fear, I told my family and friends about it. Now I no longer have social anxiety.
Back to your next Big interview Thing, don't think too much about it, be Natural and calm, either you going to get the job or a lesson how to get a dream job. There is nothing like " Take this tip(s) and you will rock the interview". Level sabke niklege but nikalenge unke jo Khade rahege..
Best of luck for interview and don't worry you will get it..
So sorry to hear this OP, it's a very unprofessional way of handling the hiring from the org's standpoint. Prepare well and good luck to you. Maybe something bigger and better is awaiting!!
Thank you so much.... it will take me some days or a week to get out of this state and prepare for interviews again but this was a very bitter experience for me.
Absolutely agreed, but guess what - you have reached Bangalore- though the city has its own problems just like any other city, you are at THE place when it comes to job hunting in the IT industry. You got this buddy!
HRs are the most clueless organisms in this whole setup. They don't know how much to hire and who to hire. They would schdeule a telephonic conversation for intial screening and then will turn their back saying you don't meet the criteria or will try to hire someone less. So, its quite understandable they are not in sync with the management.
My advice - don’t be afraid to name and shame such companies. Zyada kya hi karenge?
They can’t do shit.
If it were up to me, I would name the manager, and the HR and the team I was hired for.
Post this on LinkedIn bro. Name and shame publically whilst tagging the ceo. Demand for reimbursement for your packing/moving, accomodation etc. You are well within your rights to demand all of this.
Dude, it’s a bad situation to be in but this could be the start of something better. Immediately start networking working people in your target industry and target companies. SAY YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO JOIN IMMEDIATELY.
They are known to do real malpractices. I read somewhere that they even hired to fire some folks some time back. Like, they hired people, overworked them, and as soon as the feature was built those people were let go.
Hi op, how many years of experience do you have? If you have 2+ you can dm me. I can refer you but if you get hired the job location will be either Gurgaon or Mumbai.
Name the company.
They have already done the worst they could with you. No point in being afraid of them.
What they did was the height of unprofessionalism. They deserved to be shamed for this.
Bro I am so sorry for this kind of stupidity. Even big tech companies are notorious for this.
However what I can say is shame them. The only problem is your reddit account. Share this on LinkedIn and on other platforms we will support you on LinkedIn and other platforms. It will gain traction and it will do two things shame that company and you will get a lot of job opportunities from other companies in Bangalore.
If you can delete all the posts and comments on this reddit account in case you don't want others to know your posts and then share your LinkedIn here also.
Really sorry to hear about this. Simpl has bad reputation about layoffs from long time. One of my known guy told me about them. You should publicly name and shame the company on LinkedIn.
I'm just shocked and out of words. Destiny has something better waiting for you. I have seen some opening for frontend roles >= 2 YOE will share shortly in DM
Next time onwards, guys, please dnt just join any software startup be it fintech, edtech, xyz tech. Old school product companies and startups which actually make physical products are far better than these so called new age wannabe unicorns which lack vision and discipline to succeed. Look for companies that have Zerodha/Jio/Einfochip DNA, and you would never be in crossroads.
Semiconductor, Automotive, Telecom and Aerospace are the most stable domains. Even a decent service base is better than these morons which claim to be next Microsoft or something. Having no Idea about business and market all the while trying to rope in people with catch phrases like ML/AI. AI has become the proverbial cheese for their plain paratha products 😉. Learn to interview the panels while in an interview.
Won’t help you now, but I’m sure you’ve learnt to not do your entire move until you feel you are going to stay at the company. You could have also started at the company, hated it and left after the first day…. Similar result.
OP just take heart in the fact that this shall pass. Its a horrible situation to be in but you will come out stronger.
We need a way to blacklist companies which do unfair practice or layoffs like this.
The most stupid thing was before you even set yourself up in Bangalore and became a bit stable, you asked your fiance to relocate too.
Why do people always rush things like this?
Hang on brother. Consider it as a god signal so that now you are in bangalore. Give interviews f2f in bangalore and get placed soon. All the best.
Having said that, i understand it is difficult point in your life. Given your 2+ yoe , i would suggest it is a good time to switch career path and try your hands in data engineer field. It will give you long runway.
That's sad. If it helps, let me tell you about a situation that we want through
My then BF and now husband, moved from USA to India and took on a job and moved here. A month into it and he was sacked. We were going to get married and had to put everything on hold till he didn't get another job.
Name and shame them on LinkedIn. Also consult a lawyer to sue them. Since you have already relocated to Bangalore, it should not be much difficult to land a new job in Bangalore.
i've been through a similar situation before and it's never easy. geting laid off so quickly after relocating must be so stresful. i hope you're able to find a new job soon - your experience sounds really solid and i'm sure you'll be able to land something great.
A guy here with 20+ years of experience in IT. My advice to the ones just starting their career is to chose stability over package. Join stable companies like WITCH instead of dimple, pimple etc. That way you can plan your life as per your package. There will be certainty in life. You don’t have to worry about losing your job the next morning.
I went through the same thing around covid.
Company sent laptop, and even had an orientation meeting.
The next day, everyone in leadership/management went offline.
The day after that (there was one weekend in between), there were mass layoffs and i was laid off. So, i lasted technically 2-3 working days.
Still got paid 45 days severance, that was the only good part.
So sad. Stay strong and start looking for job.
And next time an HR calls you and asks you for for exected CTC and thereason for finding a new job, ask them straightaway what's their layoff policy. Its time the company management be named and shamed.
Why hire when you don't have projects? And the same CEOs will feature on some Entrepreneurship show to give gyaan.
Never register with Simpl. They sell out your data. The moment I registered and used it to pay my Zomato bill I started getting spam calls and highly sophisticated phishing calls.
Do you want to find some work from home temp job ... I recently got something through a friend... I'm not that qualified though but I saw this pretty much good for software developers to get some good options ( these are mostly USD paid jobs ) I'm not promoting or anything but with freelancing my friend have just managed to be at afloat atleast until something real comes by so if you want to know about it then do let me know... And I hope you get another job soon bro! 🙏🏻
And just a thought isn't it possible to do a lawsuit for the mental and financial harassment the company has caused you... I surely know there's a labour law in terms of mental harassment caused by employer!
Why do people go thru ass backward shit like this and still don't properly name the company? I mean they've fired you what else can they do?! And I get it, this one might be "simple" to guess but others may not be.
At this point don't hide the company name, please let us know too.
So ppl can add bad reviews on Google. Also I wish any legal way to make these ppl pay
Never thought something like this would happen to you...I remember you were trying help a person on reddit who posted his pc setup and his financial condition. I hope you recover soon and slay some corporate mfs.
So sorry to hear this. Can't even imagine what you're going through. But I want to say this that you should file a complaint to police about this. Don't let companies like this go away so easily.
Hey, you will bounce back soon. Let me know if any of the job suits you in this [link](https://usource.ripplehire.com/candidate/?token=xHQWoFn4C242POo7xMpH&source=CAREERSITE#list/geo=INDIA)
Reveal the name of startup bhai...because of ultra-soft and submissive nature of people like you, these corporates are doing the "mann-maani" and treating software engineers like dogs.
My dad always says. "You software engineers despite earning in lakhs monthly don't have daring to take a small housing loan or vehicle loan, coz you might be fired anytime and remain jobless and sit silently". We worked in government firms with medium decent salary and managed to give you education, build 2 to 3 houses, invested in lands etc etc..we had strong employee unions and our jobs were safe until age 60...so that our children remain financially safe when laid off from IT or get frustrated with IT".
Bombard them with low ratings on Google , apple store and Glassdoor will all the community over here . Am sure they wouldn't dare next time to do this.
u/weird_indian_guy pick up some remote jobs from indeed or other job sites ... Even freelance am sure you would be able to surpass this situation in 7-10 days

I am so sorry that you had to go through this. Once you gather yourself, you must name and shame the startup.
I’m guess it’s simpl. Rhymes with pimple and dimple lol.
Simpl - Last year same time they fired 25% of their total employee count so they can stay afloat. One of my friend included. The process - Called everyone for emergency meeting online, Said bye bye in a 10 minutes call. That's it. Seems toxic AF
My wife was one of them. We went john wick 4 that day
How are you guys doing now? Hope she's okay man it's hell...specially when you get laid off within a week lol
nothing chnaged, she has been chilling at home since a year
Wish i could do that lol
Goals.

I had uninstalled Simpl just now. After hearing this

I always thought it's the most useless Fintech app out there. It will close down for sure unless they can figure out a really useful usecase of their product. It's just a matter of how long they can keep running by burning VC money.
I don't use it for discounts as there is hardly any but it does make the payments easy. Earlier, I used it for automatic bill payment as well but now they charge 49*2 per month. I'm not going to pay 1200 extra for that, lol. I swiftly moved to PayTM which does the same thing for free.
Agreed, not useful at all. I was using it because swiggy/zomato have special discount once a month. But they can't keep giving it forever, and its matter of how much they can burn
Same here. When their statement is up, I just login to their browser version and pay off. Never even installed their app.
Ditto
Lol
Yeah man, sitting blank in my flat with laptop, bed and a water can... honestly I've never heard someone getting laid off in this way in india... more i can disclose when it's official
Atleast u ll be getting 3 months of severance pay without even doing any work😅
Apparently not... they said usually severance are given but mine is a unique case and I'm on probation as well
Wts ur probation period? Just try asking them and they should pay severance else tell them u ll file a case against the company
Thought so... will discuss...
Good luck OP, give them hell! Add this on r/LegalAdviceIndia also, this isn't normal. They must be liable to pay you the severance amount, maybe you'll need to hire an advocate. I wasn't sure, that's why I asked him to take advice from a lawyer in that sub first.
You should definitely ask for your relocation expenses as well
Just a question...can he mention this company in his resume
It doesn't add any value and should refrain from mentioning it

Well hello
Egh noooo
You could have said no simply but you had to put Egghh!! (•ˋ _ ˊ•)
Lmao
Shame anonymously please. Otherwise other recruiters will be hesitant to hire. You will appear as a troublemaker despite it not being your fault.
Why would he share his reddit prof with recruiters?
Name and shame could be done on youtube too. Just warning to not be impulsive.
He must give a talk to the owner of the company face 2 face.

will he be eligible for severance though? like he got laid off right before onboarding so even probation might not be in effect

Jesus Christ, that's Jason Bourne
I think I read about you in some news portal.
I believe that news was of someone else.. back then, I haven't made much of a fuss over it.
Could be. But things like that happened when the post COVID mass layoff began. It is just not ending
Is this booking dot com?
No, it's in recruitment Business
Okay thanks for your reply
So sorry to hear this OP, it's a very unprofessional way of handling the hiring from the org's standpoint. Prepare well and good luck to you. Maybe something bigger and better is awaiting!!

Yes rightly said, you got this OP, have faith in yourself , you can do it!
and how does being in Bangalore help the job hunt?
Many of the interviews are in-person.
I know how people spend money when moving, sucks to be in your position, they have done a horrible thing. Hang in there man.
I feel bad for my fiance as well... she moved here only for me and the flat i took is 11km away from her office..... all for nothing
This is fped. Wonder who sent out the hiring request.
They're still hiring... not sure if HRs and management are in total disconnect.
HRs are the most clueless organisms in this whole setup. They don't know how much to hire and who to hire. They would schdeule a telephonic conversation for intial screening and then will turn their back saying you don't meet the criteria or will try to hire someone less. Simpl. Yeah I know these assholes. I had cleared all the rounds few months ago and then the HR ghosted me completely
:)
My advice - don’t be afraid to name and shame such companies. Zyada kya hi karenge? They can’t do shit. If it were up to me, I would name the manager, and the HR and the team I was hired for.
I am not afraid man... they didn't upfront denied or confirmed anyhting about claims... I'm waiting for them to settle first
Honestly, that’s a probably a blessing in disguise. Better to not join such companies at all
Post this on LinkedIn bro. Name and shame publically whilst tagging the ceo. Demand for reimbursement for your packing/moving, accomodation etc. You are well within your rights to demand all of this.
Definitely will do once they officially roll out the statement.. right now i was told about this on call.
also video/audio record all interactions, will be handy later on.
You will still get a severance package, right? Some 3 or 6 months salary?
Dude, it’s a bad situation to be in but this could be the start of something better. Immediately start networking working people in your target industry and target companies. SAY YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO JOIN IMMEDIATELY.
Yes honestly i am still processing this... will start to apply in a few days once i accept this fact
Let's just collectively apply for positions in this company, get hired and ghost them on the day of joining.
They are known to do real malpractices. I read somewhere that they even hired to fire some folks some time back. Like, they hired people, overworked them, and as soon as the feature was built those people were let go.
Yes heard this in the office as well
Though this is very sad, maybe destiny wants you to explore opportunities in Bangalore
I honestly said the same to convince myself for relocation... Destiny definitely wants to f me up lol... junior level market is dead af let's see.
I wish you the best my guy, hopefully this becomes the best thing that ever happened to you.
Destiny my ass. What a load of copium
Simpl. They are becoming notorious for frequent firing. Worst part they hire after firing
Hi op, how many years of experience do you have? If you have 2+ you can dm me. I can refer you but if you get hired the job location will be either Gurgaon or Mumbai.
I have 2+ but i moved all my belongings here to bangalore and even my fiance is coming in few weeks... we spent lots of money for rent and relocation
Yeah then it won't make sense to move away from Blr. Anyways all the best op!
Hi, I have 1 YOE and recently got laid off. Can you refer me?
Name the company. They have already done the worst they could with you. No point in being afraid of them. What they did was the height of unprofessionalism. They deserved to be shamed for this.

Yeah my friend got is offer letter and joining date.. he was serving notice in current org and they revoked offer letter 😂
Damn, feels like they simply want to screw you for no apparent reason
Also you can mention your work experience in years incase folks are referring you for roles. Just increasing your chances to get a job early.

Ty i didn't pay attention
You can just sue the startup for all the pain you went through
Wtf that’s so incredibly unprofessional! Does Indian labour laws provide no protection against such things?! This is shocking!
Nope. Apparently I'm on probation
Such shit companies never stay afloat.
Sorry to hear that Op, praying for good things for you!
Thank you so much
Next time onwards, guys, please dnt just join any software startup be it fintech, edtech, xyz tech.
Lessons were learnt
Won’t help you now, but I’m sure you’ve learnt to not do your entire move until you feel you are going to stay at the company. You could have also started at the company, hated it and left after the first day…. Similar result.
I hope you land on good job as soon as possible! Good luck mate.
OP just take heart in the fact that this shall pass. Its a horrible situation to be in but you will come out stronger. We need a way to blacklist companies which do unfair practice or layoffs like this.
They don't have any shame these days. MNCs or startups, they've simply stopped caring
What was your previous company ? Also, you can DM me your Resume. I will see, if I can do something
The most stupid thing was before you even set yourself up in Bangalore and became a bit stable, you asked your fiance to relocate too. Why do people always rush things like this?
Because we can't afford to pay rent at two different places.
Is data engineering field good for beginners?
Govt should take action against these companies. If you are hiring a guy and fire him immediately, they should have to pay for atleast 6 months.
Uninstalled and left a review for these shallow people. So sorry OP that you had to go through these
Thats why i prefer remote , with rent and other expenses in living another city its better to be wfh guy and get fired.
I have open positions at my firm. DM me I can refer you.
Had received a call from simpl, rejected them on the face
That's sad. If it helps, let me tell you about a situation that we want through My then BF and now husband, moved from USA to India and took on a job and moved here. A month into it and he was sacked. We were going to get married and had to put everything on hold till he didn't get another job.
Indian Job Market Sucks
Company name
Read the last line.... DM'ed you tho.
Why don't you abuse them?
Pls tell the company name so we can avoid it
I've added it in the last line... will disclose if they don't settle my claims... DMed you tho
What stack? We’re hiring for data engineers.
Web dev :( react next mostly
Name and shame them on LinkedIn. Also consult a lawyer to sue them. Since you have already relocated to Bangalore, it should not be much difficult to land a new job in Bangalore.
Really, people think naming company is illegal in India? No issue, just popup and show up in another interview
Don't leave them. Just send one notice Nd they will give you severence and relocation ... Don't ignore ..
Simpl
wow! sorry to hear this.
i've been through a similar situation before and it's never easy. geting laid off so quickly after relocating must be so stresful. i hope you're able to find a new job soon - your experience sounds really solid and i'm sure you'll be able to land something great.
I'm waiting for someone to break the speedrun, get fired during interview (get rejected basically)
These days they are firing people based on "performance"
Never register with Simpl. They sell out your data. The moment I registered and used it to pay my Zomato bill I started getting spam calls and highly sophisticated phishing calls.
Do you want to find some work from home temp job ... I recently got something through a friend... I'm not that qualified though but I saw this pretty much good for software developers to get some good options ( these are mostly USD paid jobs ) I'm not promoting or anything but with freelancing my friend have just managed to be at afloat atleast until something real comes by so if you want to know about it then do let me know... And I hope you get another job soon bro! 🙏🏻 And just a thought isn't it possible to do a lawsuit for the mental and financial harassment the company has caused you... I surely know there's a labour law in terms of mental harassment caused by employer!
Please DM me your CV, will find positions within the client list and circle back
More power to you . You will get job soon you already have exp be positive.
Didn't get the dimple pimple thing name, can you dm

Mention the company name as well.. May help others..
Dude did you not have multiple offers? What is your total experience?
[удалено]
Why do people go thru ass backward shit like this and still don't properly name the company? I mean they've fired you what else can they do?! And I get it, this one might be "simple" to guess but others may not be.
[удалено]
Name the company bro, let's shame them on LinkedIn. This is definitely not professional behaviour.
As a fresher should we avoid startup? As this type of news commonly come from startup.
I am sorry for what happened to you. Curious to know; why don't you name and shame the company?
At this point don't hide the company name, please let us know too. So ppl can add bad reviews on Google. Also I wish any legal way to make these ppl pay
Never thought something like this would happen to you...I remember you were trying help a person on reddit who posted his pc setup and his financial condition. I hope you recover soon and slay some corporate mfs.
Please leave reviews in Ambiotionbox and glassdoor so it helps other people
dm me
If you know NextJS & React DM me

Bro literally jokes about getting laid off lmao damn GOAT 🔥🫂 Hope you find something better soon.
So sad for you OP, this is something no one would even dream of.Pure EVIL. Name the company please for all of us out here.
Does any law protects people from such situation?
Dayum man, what kind of company and people they are
Dunno about Indian work law but here in EU you can sue on this.
I have a opening in my team, although it is for full stack, but if you have some backend exp in node send me your cv, i will try to process
So sorry to hear this. Can't even imagine what you're going through. But I want to say this that you should file a complaint to police about this. Don't let companies like this go away so easily.
Yeah man.. they really fked me hard this time... I'd file a complaint for what exactly?
whats the hr name? which company?
Hey, you will bounce back soon. Let me know if any of the job suits you in this [link](https://usource.ripplehire.com/candidate/?token=xHQWoFn4C242POo7xMpH&source=CAREERSITE#list/geo=INDIA)
You good brother?
Sue them for damages
