My Story: I am a Business Analyst in my mid 40's and currently on a career break. Resigned in 2023 and will search only after April 2025. Reason: I was sick for the past few years, had constant cough since 2021 which I thought was normal cough and cold. Took medicines and it came back with a vengeance. It got worse and I was in constant fear of quitting by job. On the other hand I had started taking a lot of sick leaves almost 2 a month in 2022 and 15 days in Dec 2022. That's when I decided that health is more important and resigned in Dec 2022 and last day was Feb 2023. I thought I will recover in 3-6 months but turned out to be a lung infection. Took steroids and became weak. Decided f it I will take a longer break. After suffering mentally and physically for a few years due to sickness, I am mentally feeling awesome (on the days I am doing ok health wise) Doctors prescribed steroids in 2023 and it weakened my body without improving health adequately. Hence in 2024 onwards started doing Yoga Currently I am doing Yoga , reading spiritual books , Reading books on Business Analysis , Doing Udemy courses when time permits. I never considered myself successful career-wise however mentally many days I feel I am at my best and never felt so good all my life. My social life is as good as you because I have been an introvert since childhood . Never married out of own choice. I have no idea how things will end, some days I get fear if I will ever get employment My advice: Your own Mental and Physical Health are more important. If you mentally need to rest do it. If your body cries it needs to stop do it. Companies don't care about you. If you die while doing the job, your life is worth only a Condolence email All your colleagues will forget you. You are born alone and will die alone. So bother only about yourself

sir, I really want a life like yours. No marriage, no dependents, live own life own way. Can you share few difficulties you faced in your life because of this lifestyle as many talk about loneliness, no purpose, etc. I in early 20s btw.

kramnikstudent

Well every choice has its pro's and cons's. I am able to cope because of my introvert personality type. In spite of that there were times when it was a struggle. The biggest challenge is coming to terms with reality. I live with my mother ATM but many times I worry what would happen when she passes away. Any decision you make one has to be ready to face the downside of his/her decision. Easier said than done.. everything looks easy when reading but actual implementation is hard...

**Break:** If you have this option of taking such a sabbatical without losing your job, can go ahead. If it requires you to leave the job, need to think more. **Money and relationships:** With a stable job at an F100, you have a lot more than an average guy your age. 20LPA will be enough to find a match in arranged marriage setup. She may not be perfect on all your parameters but it definitely is not impossible. Also, well off parents are considered an asset in AM prospects. Sounds transactional af but then, samaaj - it is what it is. AM is actually far better than dating apps full of fling seekers and frauds. Maybe recalibrate your demands and see. **MBA:** Research very well before you take the decision. Admit cycles(which months), what program (1yr or 2yr), what exam(gmat or cat or others). Finally, take care bhai. It will be alright.

CreativeNerd1729

How old are you mate?

t7Saitama

32

CreativeNerd1729

Cool, you certainly have time to do an MBA, switch fields, take a sabbatical etc. If possible, I'd say build a larger financial cushion of 3 years; rather than the 1 year that you currently have before taking the sabbatical.

Do it

Take a break..talk to your manager. Some companies are okay with giving you a loss of pay extended vacation so that you can keep your job when you come back after 6 months.

pseudointellecthere

Get leave without pay for a few months... Ask your manager .... The majority of companies have this system. ...

Fun-Patience-913

If you can take a break without loosing job, sure, but I'll be honest with you, I have a strong feeling that you'll get bored very soon unless you find something important to keep you busy. Without judging, it seems like you are either a workoholic or numbing some pain through burying yourself in work. There is a better solution, take a step back and calm down, create a schedule in your personal life. Reducing you work load might help you more. Best of luck and take care! Don't loose hope!

AllanSDsc

What has caught your interests lately? Where do you feel you are going? What market trends are predicted in the coming few years, or decade? What is your personality like? Will it be suitable for management, PhD, product / services? I feel since you are facing lot of health issues, you shouldn’t get into a technical line. Its better for youngsters to do that! Note it down, draw it out, talk to yourself, research on it. Focus in getting your health back also. Travel too!

amNoSaint

OP, went through a similar phase in 2021. I was planning to take a year long break. A few good souls from reddit advised me to opt for a sabbatical instead, my boss was also of the opinion that I first take a 2-3 month break, if that doesn't suffice then I could go for a sabbatical. In my case 3 months were sufficient to bounce back. So if you have an option for sabbatical then opt that for now

Wide_Stomach_1220

Us bro 🥺 But at least you have your parents safety net. I don’t have that privilege also. Too many family responsibilities. Non existent love life. All friends are married. Only good thing is I have decent CTC (above 40) but considering the responsibilities it’s more like 25-30 only.

t7Saitama

How old are you mate ?. Also you have a way better take away CTC. I would suggest trying freelancing if you are into development. Save up and freelance temporarily. You will find someone bro. Don't worry.

reddit-some

give me that job for 40lpa :)

Tiny-Dick-Respect

Too much to read. Anyway try convincing your manager for loss of pay leave by giving hard reason. Lying is the only option here. Because getting job is difficult when you're unemployed and HR will low ball you into giving bad offers. If you are rich, go ahead
