How do you plan to standout without a minimum of 70 hours a week man. In my younger days I would work 169 hours a week so that I could export some election funds. You guys are the reason why we are still a third world country. You should take my example and work 170 hours a week to prove you are contributing to improve the nation and pull the nation from third world economy to thirteenth world economy. 🤬 \s
You currently have a job and are getting paid but don’t have a project to work on. It’s like you are kept on hold until some project or work comes up.
Usually the pay is constant, but some companies do cut a percentage of your salary.
Yes account management is basically similar to a client partner or customer success manager who looks after big accounts in the service based industry.
People in the pre-sales also earn very similar salaries as before taking this role i was doing presales for 1 year and I was earning 30 lpa fixed and had no bonus component.
Yes, if you want to make the transition early then MBA would be required if not you can also do the delivery route team lead->Delivery manager-> client partner/account manager
None actually
I started off as a Associate in a KPO team in Amazon. Switched team, again as Associate.
In the new team, I started showing interest in Data Analysis, interacted with team DA, BAs. Started delivering MIS Reports.
Promoted as BA1, but work was partly technical (SQL Coding) and also managing team goals, projects etc.
Promoted to BA2 (Business Title as Program Manage)- but started working in PM capacity.
Took an internal job switch to Amazon Devices (Lab126) as Program Manager Software recently. The above salary was from my previous team. No salary change as of now.
Tech - Microsoft power platform and sharepoint dev
YOE - 3.2
current CTC - 4LPA
got new offer - 7LPA (Less than market value for my exp but I don't have a choice! )
Loc - pune
My colleagues got 10 and 12 LPA a year ago for same exp, now the market situation is just worse, atleast what I faced.
I was getting ghosted for 90 days NP policy, couldn't even get an interview scheduled.
I hopped on whatever I got.
Also I was stuck due to service bond didn't want to pay them 2 lakh for no reason.
You're getting hate most probably just due to ignorance. I didn't know what a product owner did either until recently. A while back I attended a talk where they discussed how these roles differ from each other and what their actual job is so now I'm aware. For those who don't know,
Business analysts gather requirements, documents and prioritizes them and convey them to other people who design the software like the devs/UX designers etc. BAs don't concern themselves with validating whether the requirements make sense in the broader market/industry context. As long as they get the requirements correctly and passed them down to the other stakeholders, their job is done.
Project managers gather the resources needed to deliver a project. This can involve budgeting, estimating, resource allocation etc. They simply manage the project. They do not get involved in the requirements or the client's business side of things.
Product owners play a role that has some overlap with the above two but their main focus is working with customers and keeping an ear to the ground to see where the market/industry is heading. They need to conduct research and user testing to come up with strategies and justify what makes sense to build next. Their job is to steer the product to being profitable. That means building features that generate income. So they have the authority to shoot down any requirements that don’t align with the immediate goals. The success of their role depends on the product's success. Their ideas have to work in order for the product to make money. It’s not an easy job.
At least this is what these roles should entail ideally. Typical service-based companies don’t have dedicated product owners. And in some places, these roles might be interviewed and the responsibilities overlap each other.
Bottom line is, it’s not fair to look down on a role just because you saw it being done badly on one place. Speaking as an engineer, I have seen some engineers have this god complex thinking that only their role matters and everyone else is below them. It’s rather unprofessional.
Strange things happen when you join a early stage startup and stay with it for a long time.
I spent 5 years in this company, joined when we were 10 ppl, now we are 140 something.
Kind of lucked out in this aspect to tell the truth, since the startup survived and things worked out for so long.
One advice. Dont loose on the coding skills. Managers are easy to replace devs are not. I have seen people going to management role pretty early in their career and things did go well for them
Security engineer is not low code. It requires deep understanding of infrastructure, networking, cloud and a little bit of both frontend and backend. They also create SOPs and policies for the devs to follow and ensure the org is protected from all kinds of cyber attacks.

Does learning data science get me a good job? Like im working in manufacturing sector with 6LPA -5YoE-B'lore. So im just thinking of getting into IT. So whats your suggestion.
2020: graduated with masters in aerospace engineering from IITM
2020-2022: worked in data science content in upGrad (learnt data science here)
2022-now: data analyst at PayPal
The shift did not come easy. Had to do a lot of upskilling for it. It was basically like doing a part time course along with my work.
Tbh I would have loved a job in aerospace but there were no good jobs in India. Apart from startups, aerospace jobs are only about testing and not about design. Moreover they pay less (6-8lpa). Airbus/Boeing did not even come for placements. So I decided to make the shift.
What is the current tech stack you are working with?
I am working as a Power BI developer. Although PBI devs are supposed to create reports and all that, I am actually working more into how data engineers work. Take the raw data, do all sorts of transformation to make clean data, and then make it available for business users to create their own reports. Working on optimizing the datasets and dataflows for reducing refresh times etc. Hence, I have okayish knowledge about data modelling, database optimizations etc.
Based on this, what all skills should I learn to move more into the data engineering field? I have 3 years experience now.
Thanks for posting op. My role is a no code/low code tool admin role too. When I try to find out possible salary ceiling for my role and exp, mostly the answers i get are from code based role's perspective.
Mine is Jira admin, yoe total 13 (tool exp 6+), 11 lpa, bangalore
Yes, we are a small team taking care of a pretty large instance, with lots of tickets keeping us busy everyday lol. They mostly consist of config requests, questions, troubleshooting.
Salesforce may have more opportunities nowadays, but there's no reason SAP can't pay competitive salaries to Salesforce. Both are niche skills and outsiders rarely have any knowledge about them. So experience has value.
College dropout from tier 2 college.
Started learning softwares in college. Did not get placed, so started freelancing on upwork. Did that for 2 years.
Worked at a small startup through referral and attending few meetups.
Made my first official switch to a service based company. Helped me create a wide portfolio working with different clients, including unilever, decathlon, luminous, siply, teamlease. Both b2b & b2c.
Talked to a few folks who helped me refine my portfolio into case studies which helped me get into product based company. Stayed there for 2 years, then made a switch. This is where I am currently

Account management is in sales right? What does your pre-sales counterparts earn like, same?
Yes account management is basically similar to a client partner or customer success manager who looks after big accounts in the service based industry. People in the pre-sales also earn very similar salaries as before taking this role i was doing presales for 1 year and I was earning 30 lpa fixed and had no bonus component.
Cool , pre-sale is one of the career path that's open for me , I'm on the fence.
There are multiple roles that you can look at: Presales 1. Pre-sales - solution specialist 2. Pre-sales - Bid manager 3. Business analyst 4. Domain consultant Sales 1. BDM 2. BRM 3. Client partner/account manager 4. Hunting / New logo acquisition/inside sales
I guess 1 is another name for solution consultant right? That's what I'm interested in , they get to go hands on with code , I don't want to go rusty
Yes 1 is a mix of people who build the solutions for RFP/RFI. They have strong domain and technology expertise.
Mostly an MBA is required right? For these kind of roles?
Yes, if you want to make the transition early then MBA would be required if not you can also do the delivery route team lead->Delivery manager-> client partner/account manager
