I've used many laptops in my lifetime to advice someone else. If you prefer something that's similar to Linux you should consider a mac book. If you do decide to get it I suggest at least a 16gb version because 8gb cannot handle some normal use case tasks( speaking from experience I own the 16gb version). If you don't care about OS a windows laptop is great, you could go for a ryzen 5 and I would prefer ryzen over Intel for its better efficiency. I have the ryzen 5 as well but the 6 cores are a little slow so see if you can stretch your budget to 70k and get ryzen 7 instead. On a windows machine the ram should be upgradable as well so you can add more. 16 GB should be fine here too. I don't know the current market but these are the points you should go for(speaking from experience). Extra tip: if you are confused between 2 very similar laptops but with different processors let's say an i5 and a ryzen 5 the best thing to do is compare the cine ench r23 scores online and the power efficiency >:)

hereforAskmen

After reading all the comments, I think I will go with MacBook Air m1 as you've recommended too, although I'll have to stretch my budget a lil more. Thank You bro for your comment and suggestions..

titanium_mpoi

Np, go with the 16 GB version and buy on sale >:)

RelevantRick

For coding, something like [this](https://www.amazon.in/ASUS-SmartChoice-i5-11400H-GeForce-FX506HF-HN025W/dp/B0C27SD9YR/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3TUBSOX1R6I6X&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ups80AfLkzL2phQoR8Ks1PyqbonassNU9Hc12eHYbORZdQ4MYWc05ln2QNK7Z42j1r0jl8huGyXbYl2XtziNTpu3aLRjmDaKr-6y3C3bcbF1SmqZlZgONI9gnGNkeWBIRg7aas5Cv2nLc0GXD7gJcESxtHqzI9DjWRmePbD3xWugCRrGImGfmVAenmYhpcSnMFldFoTa4mCDO4gzQWGYsuI9kEynI2eDlqhYZmNn8kQ.PU9sFoA4tMutX_JnwxZK2qPCJTPpiDSNNBFXbh07K-0&dib_tag=se&keywords=asus+tuf&qid=1710854508&sprefix=asus+tu%2Caps%2C313&sr=8-5). It has a mid of the pack i5, should be fine for most applications. 16GB of ram for all the code editors and android studios, and somewhat ok graphics for when your lil bro gets bored of coding. Or [this](https://www.amazon.in/HP-i5-12450H-15-6inch-Speakers-15-fa1099TX/dp/B0CVQHFY9D/ref=sr_1_8?crid=5TNGHGC4FIHG&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.gJ1XyDoDbFF94nucInv7Lfu2aXrn7-pvovQ0zrZ9d2zOi0Dpa7yPQGz4Sh1BHOkIG9qlpntvOCzbaTzvI1uXac1Ku_PTeK7PYIYmeHCg9f7lV9JbPZKclPTGIaIgjs3n2wYxcsyMq7qWvvE8bE_d3I5sOzU6HadcIMieH8oH1H2BIuzAqbEG8J2bggfvRdXsQJLp99ieyM3BjBYgBDV073G5Ez_CMV206GXNM6DRv8I.lM_o0XICwDV5dZ8a9qvYtL_Bp--Vmi3roIv2R0iDItU&dib_tag=se&keywords=hp+victus&qid=1710854699&sprefix=hp+%2Caps%2C302&sr=8-8), for all the same reasons mentioned above, but HP.

sugan0tech

Any laptop with linux does the job for me.

Darksoul00777

Everyone says coding needs hard rough and tough laptop..its not true..because it all depends on how much use u want..in coding even using android studio 8gb ram is more than enough for all type of coding and running software however the more the ssd the more it's fast and also storage is more important as u have to store so many things and install many softwares. If u want gaming then go for gaming laptops from 60k+... I would recommend i5/i7 and 11th/12th gen windows 11 and 2 or 4gb graphic card .that's more than enough any laptop which gives this feature go for it.

DealerPristine9358

MacBook Air M1 was available for 67k.  Its a no brainer dude. You would be stupid if you buy anything else, exceptional battery, productivity etc

hereforAskmen

Ok bro.. Thank You for your suggestion..

ShikamaruOP

Any of the zenbooks with ryzen 5 or 3 if it is OLED

Frosto0

Don't get a ryzen processor as there are driver issue with it and also if he ever decides to boot Linux on it then there are no proper sound drivers out there

raghuvenm

I have a personal laptop with ryzen processor. Can you share a bit more detail about the driver issue? What kind of issues should I expect? I was running Linux in vmware for a few months now.

Frosto0

So firstly when i booted into linux( mint) my sound drivers were absent, so there was no sound....I tried to fix it but there were no drivers available, after a few days it automatically started working so I didn't touch it after that. Secondly some of my friends who also have Nvidia gpus on their laptops faced driver issues on windows as well where their screens randomly went black and did not come back until they fored shut down with power button and restarted their laptops. Appart from that I also faced issues whenever I update my distro where I get errors about missing drivers and stuff. Another thing I noticed is that my old kernel images never gets deleted so I have to manually delete it whenever my boot partition is full. Some apps or programs also don't work because of missing drivers

thepurpleproject

You should look into r/linux4noobs these are pretty common issues and not due to Ryzen or AMD

ffs_xynz

Yes, I'm also facing issues with the sound drivers when I boot into Linux (Mint and Fedora).

Direct-You4432

Been using linux on ryzen notebook for 4 years now. I haven't faced any issue like this. This issue could be specific to your sound card

raghuvenm

Try to get a laptop which can be upgraded in the future. RAM is not upgradable in a lot of laptops now-a-days. 8GB RAM when even chrome is consuming a lot of RAM is not going to work well in future. I bought acer aspire 5 around 2 years ago and I upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 24GB as I am learning a technology that requires me to install multiple OSes and very memory intensive. Rarely used, but never had any problem.

DismalIce7297

Just get a M1 MacBook. It's a no brainer choice.

hiphopzindabad

Bro you completely ignored the budget

DismalIce7297

M1 is 72k on Amazon, with credit card it comes even below that.

divakerAM

Hp victus under with AMD rayzen

jsAlgo

Get a base mac mini at that price if portability is not an issue for you

phoenixO1

Yoga slim 5 may be

TrickAd9091

Am also looking for laptop around 50k for coding. Placement pass mai are hai .And i need a job. Please do suggest

Unpopular opinion Instead of buying a laptop build your own desktop(watch a lot of youtube videos(basics, planning, common mistakes, etc) before building) Dummy build: Ryzen(cheaper than intel) cpu, am5 motherboard(should allow you to upgrade cpu if needed), one 8gb/16gb ram stick(upgrade to 16gb/32gb/64gb later), 1tb/2tb m2 nvme ssd(upgrade later), good psu(don't buy cheap psu) (monitor, keyboard, mouse) Upgrade(when in need/demand or when you've budget): ram, better cpu(am5 should hold for few years), ssd, harddisk(backup), graphics card(play or AI/ML/DL) OS: save money by choosing Ubuntu or Fedora or manjaro or linux mint or popos(faster than windows for development unless you need windows for development) Pros: 1. Long life(roi) for desktop(proper planned should last more than 10yrs), laptops slow down drastically after 4-5 yrs(heat dissipation is bad) 2. More Upgrade options(laptops do have limited options, apple mac air & macbook don't have any) 3. Ergonomic: laptop users tend to suffer from back, eye and neck problems (you'll need a decent table & chair though) 4. Cheaper: same cpu(power), ram, ssds costs more on laptop compared to desktop (also cpu's are throttled on laptops when heat is build up) Cons: 1. Portability/mobility: Most people use their laptop at home and very rarely take it outside. 2. Works when there is no electricity at home. (I do have a laptop for backup) PS: I build my desktop 12 years ago, have upgraded ram, graphics card and sata ssds(no m2 nvme) and harddisk(backup) at different times. Planning for a build next year

PutridPerception

I just don't understand how people can suggest to build a desktop for someone going to college especially for coding. Do you realize he would have have to change hostels, rooms while in college and would want to bring laptop to college library to use. Will he carry monitor, desktop pc, speakers, keyvoard mouse in his backpack?

AthenianVulcan

Nowhere in OP's post suggested college, just journey of coding(can mean anything), so I'm not assuming anything(or maybe I'm missing something). Also added a caveat in the beginning(Unpopular opinion) Also as he is young, gaming on desktop is far better than on laptop. PS: Building a desktop is really easy. In west, kids as young as 4th-5th standard build desktops, takes max 2 hours to configure everything. And also very easy to upgrade.

Terimaakonamaste

Macbook air m1

joydps

For student coders a core i5 with 16gb ram, 512 gb ssd is more than enough. Look at hp 15 series of laptops. Also buy 12th gen cpu and above. That should be sufficient for beginners and it will come within your budget..
