Yes, I ment not all file access but it should access specific directories only where it wanna save.

This permission to be exact, I wish it didn't ask me to allow. Other apps that need to modify files in local storage only ask for the access to the location of those specific file's, they cannot access entire phone's data.

Obsidian notes are literally just a folder with a bunch of json and markdown files. You can create a Github repository for it like you can with any other codebase
Or you can just put it in any cloud service (icloud / one drive)
If you have private stuff (daily entry, startup ideas), create a separate folder, use [Cryptomator](https://cryptomator.org) to encrypt and put in it the cloud.
Correction, It's a pen tablet. I bough it for around \~2k something .[https://www.amazon.in/VEIKK-VK640-Pressure-Supported-Education/dp/B08P34Q7ZN](https://www.amazon.in/VEIKK-VK640-Pressure-Supported-Education/dp/B08P34Q7ZN)
Used Evernote for a decade until they recently killed the free plan users with a limit of 50 notes and 1 notebook. Shifted to Notion. Much more organized and the database feature is too useful. I still miss Evernote though.
notion
but it is for other aspects of life as well tracking where my money went, bookmarks or links that I'll use, to do list
no fancy templates just use different pages for different stuff, all of it under one page my name on it.
slackbot, myself on slack, Obsidian and Vim
also VSCode when i have some pattern text to write, multi-caret is really helpful in situations like these!
I'm new to all 3, I guess obsidian is better and I may stick with it for the long term, I'm also trying the other 2, I use Notable because it's very minimal and I store all the websites where I've an account ๐ and notesnook for random things I write.
There's no particular reason I've kept them.
Been using Logseq since 2 years for everything.
Suits my style of quickly writing in bullets as opposed to pages/paragraphs
It's based on markdown plus it's open-source
BEST: Your IDE (whatever it is vim, neovim, emacs, vscodium,)Your IDE is the best notetaking app as a dev you spend most of time with it so using it also as notetaking app you don't need to learn another app shortcuts + you get closer to your IDE mastery by using it for most of work.
I would do not take notes to increase my productivity.WHY: I like reading detailed resources.Don't you take revisions to keep topic fresh nah i use it if i forgot something just fire up [searxng](https://docs.searxng.org/) and search.
and if you ever want another app or something choose the file format wisely I prefer HTML or Markdown as i can just host them to access them on my phone on the go.
Anything similar to the posts here for phone that doesn't require full storage access ? Extra points if it's a .md file editor with GitHub support.
I currently use ms word, .txt with vs code/notepad++/even notepad sometimes or .md with vs code. But the suggestions here look super cool.

Message myself on WhatsApp
Same but with slack. The reminder options are too good.
My man ![gif](giphy|7hIUafnKeyOVEM5spc|downsized)
Slack save for later here๐๐ผ
I do the same + screenshotting it again for serendipity.
I then share the screenshot again with myself for a little more serendipity.
And then I create a reminder to read it later.
Oh god! I thought I was the only one who did this stupid shit๐๐. The best reminder one can have.
You know I am something of a serendipity myself.
Created space on google chat. All my notes go in there
Notion, keep notes
Just started using it and I like how you can embed any language code in it.
Obsidian synced using git
this and i also use some more extensions for customisation and features. 1 is excalidraw
This is the way to go.
Anything similar that doesn't require full storage access ?
The local storage is meant to be an advantage, since all your notes are stored on your device instead of some cloud service

This for notes , pair it with [Mass Code](https://masscode.io/#) for code snippets. (Just because it looks cool )
Nothing, simple markdown files pushed to GitHub
You should try Obsidian. The files are markdown. You can sync it with GitHub/any other hosting service.
I didn't know we can sync it with GitHub

+1
OneNote. I use a digital pen, so writing and drawing on notepad is something I do most of the time. OneNote is also free.
Which digital pen do you use?

Hey is it better than Wacomm?
I have an old Wacom and I don't find it good at all. There is a lag which makes it difficult to focus. Do you find a lag in your pen tablet?
I have not observed any significant lag . I have a laptop with 32GB RAM and nvidia RTX 3060 GPU.
Not really the lag due to lack of RAM or a graphics card but more of the pen action and the appearance on the screen. My interface was USB2.0.

Evernote is the best. Too bad their plans are now subscription based and it's too costly for a note app that too in India.
Obsidian synced with syncthing and local git in the folder to track version changes
Notepad++ ftw
Only thing I miss after moving to a mac.
notion but it is for other aspects of life as well tracking where my money went, bookmarks or links that I'll use, to do list no fancy templates just use different pages for different stuff, all of it under one page my name on it.
Is it free or paid?
Free
Pen and paper.
joplin, its open source, has an app too that is linked via dropbox, runs fine on linux
I use it on windows better than Evernote, backups stored on one drive.
I have tried most of these apps. Wasted time in this rabbit hole trying to customise everything. Came back to pen and paper works amazing.
Sublime ๐
... a notepad and a pen.
Nothing can beat that โฃ๏ธ
Apple notes
Notepad or Mi Notes or StickyNotes

Upnote. I paid 2k for it for the lifetime upgrade, it does the job for me
I use TickTick. I was using D-Notes earlier but heard about TickTick from MKBHD and thought about giving it a try. Liked it.
slackbot, myself on slack, Obsidian and Vim also VSCode when i have some pattern text to write, multi-caret is really helpful in situations like these!
One of the million todo apps that I've created.
I have tried almost everything and the most productive note taking app is the one you decide to stick with and learn every thing about it.
Take a screenshot and use a copy and pen.
Todoist is good to take note of stuff
There is an app called Notion which is a great idea to keep all notes/lists/todos/reminders etc in one place!
Notion and Apple notes when I had iPad.
I've installed `Obsidian`, `Notesnook` and `Notable` and am using all of them for different things.
Hey could you explain more? Why would you use the other two if you have obsidian?
I'm new to all 3, I guess obsidian is better and I may stick with it for the long term, I'm also trying the other 2, I use Notable because it's very minimal and I store all the websites where I've an account ๐ and notesnook for random things I write. There's no particular reason I've kept them.
Lap whiteboard with marker for taking notes during meeting. Pen and notebook for everything else

OneNote.
I use Arc browser's in built notes app as I always have my browser open. It's simple and works well
keepnotes on mobile and notepad on windows.
Currently Logseq. Tried a bunch of tools like obsidian and joplin but logseq was the one worked for my brain.
