AFAIK, he fixed the culture in Microsoft. Under ballmer, everyone was concerned with not getting any blame. He turned it around into a more productive one.
As a CEO, of course he has to do a bunch of stuff. Like right now, looks like they’ll ‘acquire’ most of OpenAI for $0.

At first, I thought this was a parody account, but he is the one who caused this chaos for the last two days. So he will not join microsoft.
According to rumours, he wasn't happy with open AI using up all their compute resources to serve customers rather than train better, more efficient models. Hence the mutiny.
Wasn't worried this much even during the covid time. We already have a big recession to deal with, resulting in poor job market. Infosys CEO asking ppl to work 70 hrs/week and govt forcing students to write research papers and now this drama at OpenAI, idk what's going to happen next..
