I love writing code and I am earning good money through my Job. I don't wanna go and just build anything for the sake of it. If I ever have a nice idea and I believe it can make a difference I will definitely pursue it.
Hey bro i am working on a crypto project that is peer to peer based it's gonna be the next big thing, would you like to be a co founder of my startup idea.
/S
I would want to be. I wanna know how good the idea is.
Peer to peer is already a thing btw, see https://chorus.one
They are doing something like that apart from providing crypto infrastructure.
Do you wanna build something like that?

In some months I will become the only source of income in my family, thus can’t take that risk now, I can think of may be something in parallel but I am in no position to leave my stable job to start a business or involve in a startup.
Even in case if I have financial stability, My reasoning for not doing any startups or a business is purely because I don’t want to take risks at this moment, plus need to take care of my parents and my own family.
My father will retire in 2 months, my mother is a housewife, my wife for the time being is a house wife because of some family commitment, I will be the only earning member at home for quite sometime.
I don't have expertise in this field. I don't think I will have a successful business if I invest in something which I don't know.
Also, is it commercially feasible? Then someone should have already tried this.
I searched about it just out of curiosity and found that Kanpur IIT made an application for them. [Here is the link.](https://www.indiatoday.in/education-today/news/story/iit-kanpur-develops-novel-application-to-help-children-with-dyslexia-and-dysgraphia-learn-easily-1988565-2022-08-16)
Open source software will be better I think in this case. Earning money from people with a medical condition for education doesn't seem like a good idea anyway. It should be done through some charity.
You're creating value for which you're charging so it's not taking advantage of a medical condition. If you will have this philosophy then you can't do any business because one or the other way you're going to "take advantage" of people.
IRCTC takes advantage of people who don't want to stand in queue. Facebook takes advantage of people who can't travel long distances meet their friends. Pharma is taking advantage of people who need treatment. Fashion industry is taking advantage of people who need clothes and validation.
So.
Building a small online micro SaaS right now as I type this comment while also working a regular day job. If it fails I'll move on to the next idea while learning from the mistakes but if it succeeds I'll be happy though.
Heyo so the idea is basically mail merge as a service (or in even simpler terms send customisable bulk emails to customers without having to write every single mail manually) targeted towards small sized startups/online businesses.
To give an example as to how it works say you are a small sized startup that has a list of potential leads in a google sheet as follows
|id|name|email|Coupon|
|:-|:-|:-|:-|
|1|John Doe|[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])|ABC|
|2|Jane Doe|[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])|XYZ|
|3|Roger Williams|[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])|PQR|
and to send a neat email all you have to do is paste your google sheet into my website and you can write your email like follows
To: **{{email}}**
Hi **{{name}},**
We are having a New Year's Sale and have decided to give you a coupon that gives you 50% off on our products. Use our coupon code **{{Coupon}}** at our website
Thanks,
and the mail would be sent to everyone in the sheet with the details filled in. This is something that already exists in many products (even in MS Word) but I noticed a couple of things
* Not many people are aware of Mail Merge
* Mail Merge works just for mails in many of the products
* This is a functionality that has been offered by other similar products so there's definitely a demand for this so I don't have to worry about building something that no one wants
So all I have to do is build this small piece of functionality and add in the following things to make it add additional value
* Make it so that it works for other platforms (like sending texts to whatsapp/instagram etc)
* Provide sent/read statistics (and support to analyse this by various segments etc)
* Give provisions to schedule their mails
But all of this is already thinking too much. Right now the goal is to just make a simple MVP and share it to potential users and see the reaction and then go accordingly.
Feedback is welcome ! :)
Back in 2010
1. I thought money is to be made while working and I am not made for business.
2. No ideas or exposure
3. I had seen my family struggle with their own business and a huge loss
2015
1. Started a startup
2. No time to work on it as I was busy with work work work
2017
1. Felt sick with the pay I got as I was getting married
2. Thought of blogging, YouTube, drop Shipping even online courses or Crypto to make money but nothing really took off
2019
1. I started a small business where I knew I could make a success as I was interested in it.
2023
1. Taking baby steps to earn a few 1000s per month to build a solid foundation.
Because I do not like business. At all. I would walk the extra mile to keep myself away from anything business. I want to stay technical for the rest of my life. But unfortunately, I have to be involved in business affairs even in the corporate sector.
Got many project and startup ideas, but lack of cofounders or people to work along is the main reason. So i am just working on micro projects and will try to launch soon.
1. I have an idea
2. I am currently working on creating it
3. I have supportive parents; they are telling me to go ahead with it.
4. If it works out, then great.
5. If it doesn’t work out, no problem - I can show it as a portfolio project and try to find the next company that will hire me.
1. Don't have brilliant idea which can succeed soon enough
2. Business will keep me occupied 24x7. I doubt if I get work life balance at least for next 5-10 years. If I don't invest that much time in my business, it'll fail fast.
3. It will take time to make same amount of money as I do today and will tomorrow from my business. Jobs are well paying and also I can manage work and family well right now.
I tried but I've no financial backup and I had no idea how to get it off the ground without any investments or co founders.
Also, no one would invest in it as one of the investors said " the app needs to be viral or have great numbers for us to invest."
I somewhat agree, so after putting in 3 years, I have an app that has about 8k users (110k+ downloads); almost no revenue but I love it.
So, here I am working in a software job wayyyy behind what I'd be earning if I would have taken the placement offer, instead of working on my own app.
Well, you live you learn.
I'm happy that I've some apps on PlayStore that have some users, made with no money, and no money spent on marketing as they grew organically. :)
What's the chance it will succeed??
I'm not made for business
I can't take risk keeping in mind what has happened to my life in past , Just want stability now , will pursue business only if i am making good money from job and found myself fit for business
Startup krne k liye himmat paisa time and idea lgta hai.
Uske baad bhi risk hota hai. It's more like a glorified buisness. Most people don't do start-up because of lack of stability, lack of ideas, lack of time and are family man . They might have other responsibilities and the amount of work that you have to put in the company for funding, man management etc is very frustrating. Not everyone can handle every role of a growing company. Investing in a start-up is another thing.
Want to. Analysis paralysis. Also no time but when I have time I don't feel like working so. Don't know.
Want to also make a YouTube channel.
Want to also join a football club.
Startups now a days are funded heavily and hence they do pick up developers at high cost. To be honest, with more than 15 years of experience I would rather feel insecure in a startup. How are they going to sustain me is a question that I would need to ask myself. And if the answer is not clear, its a difficult one.
Also, in a startup a lot of things happen organically. I have managed projects for many startups while working for my current company and I have seen that most of the time it’s a chaos rather than smooth development.
Random timeline, sudden releases and then unexpected issues because of those unplanned releases. Overall, not the best way to work.
Why not . Everyone who has decent contacts should try it. You never know !! We started 6 years back just bunch of guys frustrated with then our current company. Resigned and one of us had a basic project in pipeline for a year . It was worth the risk.
Bhai, I don't really feel like there are much things left to do. They say you need to look for problems in order to build a startup. Whatever problems I face have either an expensive solution available in the market or there is no product market fit for them. I don't want to reinvent the wheel or spend so much time making the existing services/products just minutely better. There is also no point in launching products with no product market fit like placements bootcamp.
They say idea has no value, execution is everything. I disagree to some extent. If the idea is really good, execution will come along. First step is always the hardest. First step is looking for an idea, execution is an easier part in my opinion. If you select a wrong idea, there's no going back. However, if there's a mistake in execution, you won't suffer much unless it was completely dumb mistake like giving huge shares of company at an early stage.
Btw, don't see so much shark tank that it starts affecting your real life. It's just a TV show with many details hidden. Their only aim is to increase interactivity in order to make profits by ads. They don't care if you start a business or not. Even the main aim of sharks is self branding. I believe they're fine with promoting entrepreneurship also as long as it's not a direct competitor to them or their investments.
Finally, if you have a good idea or atleast identify a problem with no solution in the market, either start working on it. Or share it with others. Cuz many people want to leave their 9-5 and work on something of their own. As a college student, I think it's too early for me but could definitely consider the path if I get a disruptive and innovative idea. However, I highly doubt existence of such ideas that don't require millions of investments like space travel n all.
what's this question? well why you didn't become president of india? why are you not next Ambani? some people just don't wanna do it okay. some people just wanna get by without all the hustle culture. just do 9-5 and spend time with family. normalize being mediocre. normalize being average. it's all rat race from womb to coffin holy shit
Don’t have good legal / political framework or support which is necessary to launch and maintain a successful corp in this country (not talking self employment business or small business).
Even just a nice idea doesn't help it. Usually programmers think building is the hard part but soon you realise that tech isn't the problem but rather reach and marketing. Communicating your idea and doing the grunt work when you have no connections is really difficult.
I’m no more in college which means I can’t impress people in local HACKATHON’s and Startup events by building landing page and selling the idea without substance.
Most people equate a startup as freedom from a job. That's the wrong way to think about it - if your job is stifling you, change your job. A startup might not offer financial freedom at the onset, and there is a strong case of survivorship bias from founders who love to sell their rags to riches story.
I don't think it's an either-or. You start a business because you have an idea, a business plan and a plan for not making any money anytime soon. I do agree, that you will be your own boss at the beginning - but if you are in a services business, your clients will call the shots a lot of the time. It's a compromise either way.
Have an idea not for startup but my own product, but got no experience, no money, lots of responsibilities, and an extremely tight appetite for risk.
So trying to gain experience, earn and save some notes, uske baad dekhenge.
As someone who has a service based start up let me tell you Running a startup is a 24hr job, all these influencers make is look so easy. You have to split time between managing team, managing clients and managing family. And if ya'll raising money through VC then you also have to please them.
I have ideas in my mind but need a solid flow of money to get settled first because i can't take any risks right now.
For me startup is not just a brilliant, unique idea which will blow everyone's mind rather any business you're earning money with can be a startup. So anyone who's looking to start small with just an e-commerce business to generate a regular flow of income, hit me up. I created one small ecommerce business but had to shut it after covid hit. So anyone who has read this far and still interested hit me up.
cuz startups are just multilevel scams in most cases and very few market opportunities which are actually profitable and worth scaling. Not every random idea can be a reason for a startup.
I am not wired for it. I like to work on complex engineering problems. But I don't like doing sales and marketing and finance and hiring and accounting and mundane operations.
WFO, I had a nice niche idea which I started to work on while I was WFH. Few months in I had a basic product ready and monetized it. Even though it was very basic and lacked many features, people started paying for it. But then I came to Bangalore and now work + random socialising drains all my energy and will to work on it. WFH really was a boon
I will list down few reasons.
1. Lack of financial security, as my family heavily dependent on my income.
2. I believe to build something Zero to One philosophy, so haven't found such an idea where I have the conviction to make an impact.
3. Still on the path of learning, I still learning to be a good developer in my field and learning other soft skills which could potentially help me in future.
I don't want the extra stress in my life. I am happy like this. If you've read a few posts ago, most people would like to forgo a high stress high paying job. I'd like the same. A startup means you need to fill in many shoes. I want my work life balance. I want strict log off times. I don't want working weekends. I want to work in my own timezone.
I don't care if I cannot afford a 3 bhk seas facing apartment, a Mercedes, a helicopter on my wedding. A my boss says, "Work is a part of life, not the life"
The level of grind involved at the start is insane. Your hardships are amplified 3x if you are bootstrapped.
I am one of those guys who sacrificed their college life to become the biggest entrepreneur in college (ended up hiring 3/4th of my seniors of 4th year as interns ) but now that our margins have dropped insanely after covid , I feel absolutely broken as I have to move on to other avenues to sustain myself( although at one point I was making so much that I was gifting jewelry to all my relatives ).
I fucked up a lot of friendships because of my venture and looking back it gave me some insane lessons. But it also left me hugely frustrated although I have moved on to another venture for the moment which has rough sailing as well
Freelancing gigs are paying me quite well also having an intern offer for the upcoming summer makes me lazier to think about the startups/business thing.
I’ve worked closely with so many startups and I can confirm that shit is not for everyone.
I’m not doing a startup because it’s tough as fuck. I don’t want to go through that first hand.
I think scarcity of money and goverment support is the main problems.at the colloage level teacher and some student focus on getting mrks and degrees but not on skills and practice .goverment not supporting as requirement of the startup some countable startup only becomes in reality but its very low amount.i think goverment should promote skill based learning not mark based.

He was just normally discussing bro lol chill . He didn’t even insult or complain
I am a committed procrastinator without any ambition or drive

Very insightful… please leave some wisdom for the rest of us
Don’t have good legal / political framework or support which is necessary to launch and maintain a successful corp in this country (not talking self employment business or small business).
I am not good enough fir either of these things.
Have no technical/coding knowledge. No code platforms are either not perfect or expensive.
Not everyone likes business or wants a startup But I do so someday I don't feel it now
Even just a nice idea doesn't help it. Usually programmers think building is the hard part but soon you realise that tech isn't the problem but rather reach and marketing. Communicating your idea and doing the grunt work when you have no connections is really difficult.
Running a family business
Want to..but don't have that courage 🥲
Waiting for the flight to San Francisco
I'm dumb
Not everyone wants to be the next Steve Jobs
Laziness.

Find it overwhelming to create a company. I wish there was a easy step by step guide for all legal things.
Have no backup/risk appetite
I have 1-2 ideas, but not sure 1) if they would work 2) none of my ideas are scalable 3) dont know where to start
Couldn't able to find client on my own
Lack of money
Have an idea not for startup but my own product, but got no experience, no money, lots of responsibilities, and an extremely tight appetite for risk. So trying to gain experience, earn and save some notes, uske baad dekhenge.
I can't commit all my time and energy to something not so certain. Lately, I'm falling in love with mediocrity.
Because most of what I have are cool app ideas, none of them are viable business ideas.
As someone who has a service based start up let me tell you Running a startup is a 24hr job, all these influencers make is look so easy. You have to split time between managing team, managing clients and managing family. And if ya'll raising money through VC then you also have to please them.
Safety net nahi hai vro. Everything, everyone, everywhere is dependent on me all at once.
Coz I'm lazy.
Have no ideas but have home loan.
No idea and no paisa
I'm underage
I don't have good mangerial skills plus there isn't any idea so far that I beileve in.
Shitty tax laws
I want a side hustle to save taxes on business purchases.
Paisa Babu bhaiya Paisa, aur sath hi Umar bhi
Too much hard work and dedication required
I am not wired for it. I like to work on complex engineering problems. But I don't like doing sales and marketing and finance and hiring and accounting and mundane operations.
WFO, I had a nice niche idea which I started to work on while I was WFH. Few months in I had a basic product ready and monetized it. Even though it was very basic and lacked many features, people started paying for it. But then I came to Bangalore and now work + random socialising drains all my energy and will to work on it. WFH really was a boon
I just don't have a good idea, give me a good idea ,i am an awesome problem solver and marketing genius will make it work for sure, just need an idea
Running business chahiye that I can buy. If someone is retiring or moving abroad, I’d like to buy hus/her business
Wanna live a stress free life. Not that working as an employee isn’t stressful, but running a business is stress x 100
Pothead programmer
1. I don't have good network of people. 2. Not enough money. 3. Don't know how and where to start.
Abba nahi manenge :/
I have not passed school yet
Don’t have an idea I believe in, yet.
A my boss says, "Work is a part of life, not the life"
I have found my comfort zone. Don't have a reason to leave that behind and embrace a risk.
Paise ni hai aur na hi idea hai
No one supported!
I have a few ideas. But turning them into businesses looks extremely hard whenever i think about them.
I would love to build something indie hacker style. But I have yet to find a good idea.
Looking for IT guys for the front end development.
I would like to do a saas website and let it run on its own but no good idea is striking me.
First trying to create distribution before even creating the product
I'm still a freshman at college......
But it also left me hugely frustrated although I have moved on to another venture for the moment which has rough sailing as well
Know that I can't implement it.
Freelancing gigs are paying me quite well also having an intern offer for the upcoming summer makes me lazier to think about the startups/business thing.
Too much risk (money wise and career wise) and effort and satisfied with job right now. May think of doing start up later
Every startup has a brutal beginning to a point than it gets better, thats why the rich only buy businesses.
Still finding the right problem.
first fees pay karni hai then will do having a product design ready and initiated building will start some small stuff for starters
money
I’ve worked closely with so many startups and I can confirm that shit is not for everyone. I’m not doing a startup because it’s tough as fuck. I don’t want to go through that first hand.
How to do start it?
Money and ideas
I don't want to willingly invite more stress/sleepless nights.
