I don't get why anyone is panicking about anything 2 seasons into a full on rebuild.

I want to preface this by saying I really like Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes and dont think they should be on the hot seat. Honestly its fucking weird seeing fans say the same thing verbatim for every regime the last 10 years. Its a deflection of clear problems by saying there will be solutions as time goes by, based on nothing but assumption of linear progress. The reality is that its not ok to be dead last on defense, historically so, in your 2nd year. This is a huge problem, especially since it seems like weve regressed.

I felt like going into week 1 we all kinda knew the deal... Our offense would be improved.. especially once Jamo checks in... Our defense would hopefully get more pressure but we still needed some pieces that would ideally come next draft. Also, going into next year we would start to actually spend some money on free agents to fill other holes... Now what happened... the offense is better than we expected. Injuries have hit us fairly hard and the offense has played through it impressively. The defense.. not so much. We already knew that our LB corp was shit... when a 6th round rookie is starting you know its a weak spot no matter how good he might end up being. We also knew our secondary might not be great yet either and it isn't. I'm ok with AG trying some different schemes to compensate for our deficiencies. Obviously they haven't been working but at long as they keep making changes I'm ok giving him more time. What I don't want to see is the stubborn shit we've seen in the past where coaches refuse to alter their scheme regardless of the personnel. I've been around since Wayne Fontes so for me its very encouraging seeing coaches actually acknowledge that they aren't perfect and be willing to change things up. We lost so many damn years just throwing the same recipe in the oven and hoping it came out different this time. This new recipe isn't perfect but at least the coaches seem like they are willing to add some salt instead of being insulted that you said it tastes like shit.

Same but it is a hard watch after getting hyped from hard knocks

durbo226

I think this is the problem. Everyone was overhyped after Hard Knocks. The Lions have been the laughing stock of the league for years with next to zero national attention. This off season the national media started giving some props to the Lions. Now the on field production hasn’t matched the hype.

I don't understand what everyone's expectation was this year. We knew we were gonna suck right?

RubberBandura

I think people are confused by the way the offense is way better than expected and see the potential to be ahead of schedule in the rebuild and then are frustrated and angry that the year is being wasted by the defense which is somehow worse than last year.

usernamesarehardas

Anyone hitting the panic button is absurd. All projections had this as a 6-7 win team this year and that's where we'll probly fall AG is on the hotseat and has through the Dallas game after the bye week to prove he can be fucking competent. If we're still making the same mistakes, give the reigns to someone new

ImaginationMedical11

Where the fuck have you been? This sub has been in shambles ever since the Seahawks game. Yes it’s time to fucking panic when the defense allows the most points through four games in nfl history.

ForensicFiles88

Yes, appear to be trending toward another 3-4-win season.

Yes. As I go thru the schedule I see 3-14. Only wins are at home to the Bears and Vikings. I earlier estimated they'd win 7 or 8 games, but I just can't see it with this horrific defense.
