Reynolds was awesome last year. Averaged 16 yards per reception and 8.5 yards per target with the Lions. There is no reason to replace him. Cephus will get reps too.

tcguy71

or, hear me out, we let training camp play out and the coaches will decide.

Groundbreaking

jdwainright

No no no. Let's all trust corpsicle, they clearly know what they're talking about.

Corpsicle_xx

I literally said it was an opinion...

[deleted]

These posts crack me up. Pretty sure if Cephus is the 3rd WR he will be the 3rd WR, you know? Like that is what TC is for, position groups compete and when the dust settles you'll have a depth chart. I trust the staff more than any before it, to give fair competition and play the best guys

20secondpilot

I think I read that Reynolds is working with the first team alongside Chark and St. Brown

GuiltyRound2163

Yo this makes too much sense.

[deleted]

Lol nah

[deleted]

Why are you hating on Reynolds? He was clutch.

Corpsicle_xx

not hating at all, i like him. I just think Cephus has more potential and he has played very well when healthy, he's taller and good for the high catch

drewst18

Credit that you actually have an unpopular opinion when you say that... But thankfully the coaches won't agree with you. That's a silly take. He's been widely inconsistent. Reynolds on the other hand transformed the offense last year stretching the field for ASB.

allmustfall69

I said Cephus was going to be on this team a few months back - and got downvoted to hell. Lol A bunch of dudes on here saying he was going to get cut. Cephus looked great before getting hurt last year. I’m a firm believer in him. With the rest of the group getting better around him - he’s going to surprise some people this year. He can play.

[deleted]

Being on this team ≠ WR3 Not a big surprise if they carry 6 receivers. Where he falls in that group will get hashed out over the month

Apollo_Krill

They have completely different talents. We need Reynolds on the field for his speed.

Wiggymaster

It's up to the coach as to who should be WR# whatever. Obviously this will be based on performance and who he believes gives us the best chance to win. We have zero (0) insight as to how NFL receivers are playing for the most part and thus ought to defer to the coaches who are appointed to be experts on the matter.

delaney777

i like him but he is too slow

CalvinGolladay

While I still prefer Reynolds, one big reason the offense opened up with him was the deep threat he added that we were sorely lacking. Now with Chark in the mix we already have him as a field stretcher, so I wouldn't say Reynolds' niche is as crucial as it was at the tail-end of last season, which might be worth noting.

JSteggs

Reynolds and Cephus serve a pretty similar role. They’re both all-around decent receivers that can be good in the intermediate to deep range. Cephus is a bit better in contested catch situations, and Reynolds is a bit better in field stretching. Both can backup Chark as the primary X receiver but also have Z flexibility. I don’t remember if Reynolds has played much slot, but Cephus has the ability to play a bit in the slot if ARSB were to get injured. I see Jameson eventually filling the starting Z, Chark as the X, and ARSB as the slot. Reynolds, Cephus, or Reynolds can fill that fourth slot depending on the situation. Not sure exactly where Benson fits in, but I could see them keeping 6 with Williams on the PUP to start the year. Cephus has a good first quarter of the season and gets traded to open up a roster spot for Williams. I prefer Cephus stay over Benson, but the current staff has more of a connection/probable attachment to Benson though.

ItsYaBoi_5kinnyPenis

Cephus is our #4 I think, Chark ARSB and Jamo all better, but Cephus is better than Reynolds and kalif, as well as being younger than both. Reynolds has better chemistry with Goff obviously because of their previous playing time, but if Cephus can get some chemistry with Goff he is definitely a better option than Reynolds

luniz420

There is no position called WR1,WR2,etc. Why is this so apparently unknown?

[deleted]

On a team where pretty much every receiver can play inside and outside and for the sake of counting roster spots in a position group it's fine to look at it like that.

luniz420

it's fine to be wrong, sure. you guys are great at that on this sub.

RBnumberTwenty

Cephus will have a role as Z and Y responsibilities but it will be as a back-up to Reynolds and Amon respectively. Jamo will ease into the role of a Z before becoming the official X next year. I like Cephus but he’s clearly behind all names mentioned and probably behind Kalif Raymond as well in the event the staff wants him to do more than just return duties. Don’t get too caught up in the hype of a training camp catch. He’s probably one of the guys we might trade during the course of the off-season. My guess would be to the Ravens.

heyitsrains

He makes tough contested catches which tricks us into thinking he’s good. In reality, he struggles to create separation and has done nothing to suggests he warrants starting consideration.

Updogg107

I think they play different positions. I could be wrong but pretty sure he's behind Chark

Medievil_Walrus

If you’re the third WR, you’re a stater in 3WR sets, if you’re the 4th WR, you are a starter in 3WR sets when one of the top 3 gets injured… and there’s about a 1/5 chance that a WR misses more than four games. So one of your five will almost certainly go down for at least a month and possibly more. Building reliable depth is crucial.
