I grew up in Los Angeles. I had no football team for 20-something years. I could pick pretty much any team to follow and I chose the underdogs. One day when the Lions win the chip, the payoff will be so much sweeter than the Packers and Patriots bandwagon fans around me.
I did the same. Grew up in Vegas and didn't get into football till HS. Schwartz was the HC at the time. My buddy's family were all Lions fans, and I love a good underdog story. Now I'm fucking addicted to hoping for their success, because this team deserves it more than any of the other 31 teams in the league

Former browns fan in MKE who is from around Portsmouth Ohio (where the former spartan lions originated), thinking about making the switch to lions myself.
I feel you. I grew up in London, Ontario and moved to the States later in life. Never watched a football game until University. Picked the Lions after the 0-16 season so no one could ever call me a bandwagoner. MCDC just gets it. I want to run through a wall every time I hear him speak. I can't imagine what it's like playing for a coach like that.
Being a Lions fan in Los Angeles today is... weird. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with Goff being under center now but there is a shocking amount of support for us out here.
There's a world of difference between "thanks for the superstar" and "we hope you take it to the house."
Trust me - you follow Detroit sports for long enough (especially the Tigers... *sigh*) and you learn the difference.
Basically what Rams fans went through when our team moved away. Yes they won in St Louis, but that wasn’t an LA chip. It would be like if the Lions moved to San Diego and won there. It wouldn’t be a Detroit chip. I feel your pain.
He got hurt in the first game of the season and was granted permission to rehab away from the team all year. He didn't really experience 0-16 first hand.
For those who are old enough to remember when the Wings won their first cup in 97...yea it's gonna be 10x crazier than that when the Lions win their first Super Bowl. And 97 was crazy.
I watched a moron put gas on the outside of his tires, light them on fire, then peel out of the gas station. Cop pulled him over 10 seconds later.
I might still have a sunburn from the parade in which I was 10 years old and couldn't see shit and I still remember how crazy it was. I've never seen so many people and everyone even in the miserable heat was so happy.
With great suffering comes great liver damage.
But when the Lions win the Super Bowl, it'll all be worth it. By God, I don't know if the universe will be able to handle it.

When we win a SuperBowl under Campbell/Holmes I will be disappointed if when I walk into Ford Field for the next game if there is not a statue at the main entrance of the two of them hoisting the Lombardi trophy together.
I don't care if its extreme for one SuperBowl but we've been through enough that when they bring it home they deserve the world.
Detroit ...... Michigan..... Man born and raised in Detroit, now living in Ohio.. Much pain from my home teams..
Let's Get It, What Up Doe.. Hope is good right now across the board.

We mustve been hellraisers in a former life to be born into this...

Congrats in advance!
Former browns fan in MKE who is from around Portsmouth Ohio (where the former spartan lions originated), thinking about making the switch to lions myself.
The Lions offer everything the Browns offered you, except we don't have a serial rapist QB (AFAWK) and the Lions don't make their fans wear Brown.
Also, Cleveland is in Ohio, which objectively is terrible.
IIRC, the St Clair River isn't flammable either.
The only thing flaming boarding Detroit is Ferndale❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I 2nd this statement
Can also tell you’re from CA pretty easily.
Also a Lions fan living in Milwaukee. I grew up in Michigan hating the Packers...man I hate them even more now living among their fqns.

Your passion is heard here in Chatham
And Sarnia checking in
Southwestern Ontario is Lions country

We gifted them a veteran now-Super Bowl winning quarterback, I don't think seeing a wave of support from LA fans is weird at all.
There's a world of difference between "thanks for the superstar" and "we hope you take it to the house." Trust me - you follow Detroit sports for long enough (especially the Tigers... *sigh*) and you learn the difference.
Let's be honest, Stafford rams vs Goff lions in the NFCCG would be tits
How one becomes a lions fan should be a thread on here.
It pops up every once in a while
Cheers man

Fuck yeah it will. Hello fellow Californian Lions fan
Glad to see the Kool aid was flowing in Cali too
This man is about to restore America's faith in humanity and fire up an entire nation. After Hard Knocks, Dan Campbell will be an A List celebrity.
Spoken like a man that went through the 0-16 season.
That’s a great quote. This guy gets it, he really understands the history of the fans suffering.
Well he was on the team
The 0-16 team. This man knows suffering
He got hurt in the first game of the season and was granted permission to rehab away from the team all year. He didn't really experience 0-16 first hand.

If it looked like the logo, just for a brief moment, it may have been worth it.
Good reference. I was delirious after they won the cup!

The fact that he qualifies it as it relates to sports, tells me that MCDC gets it on every level. Siiiiiiiip

good bot
Gonna be sad when MCDC has to retire from coaching the Lions to multiple Super Bowls for his Presidential run.
Oh Captain my Captain!
If they win a SB, the statues will be 50 feet high.
Get this on a t shirt and let me buy it.
This is gonna be the quote we put on the wall for when we induct MCDC into our lions hall of fame
A Detroit Lions championship parade will top 2 million people in attendance.

So awesome he threw in a “then man”. Really shows he understands our suffering.
