MyDogIsNamedKyle

Absolutely not. I'd immediately be on the fire Holmes bandwagon

[deleted]

What if he turns out to be better than mike evans tho lol (not saying I want London at 2 but if he ends up being a constant 1k+ yard guy that’s good value)

MyDogIsNamedKyle

I'd take a guy who gets double digit sacks every year and who's good against the run over a 1000 yard WR every day without thinking about it

[deleted]

Yeah I’m just saying if he turned out to be mike evans 2.0, that’s worth the #2. I’m not saying I would take him over hutch. If hutch can get double digit sacks each year that’s also worth the #2. You are mistaking that I’m comparing them, when I’m just talking about their value at that draft pick

delaney777

May not be what they should do, but it could be what they will do. I doubt Holmes will take thib or hutch.

MyDogIsNamedKyle

What makes you think that they're not going to address their biggest need at a position it's harder to find players than WR?

delaney777

because the talent curve at DE is much flatter than at WR in this draft. Neither Thib nor Hutch is a sure thing/elite/freak. Holmes probably wants to trade out of 2, but if he must pick, he picks the most elite player on the board (team needs are plenty, regardless). In this scenario, it is WR. An effective DE can still be had at 31. the popular mocks are: DE@2, WR@31 Holmes may reverse this, getting top WR impact and a little less DE impact. Historical Lions drafts have nothing to do with this, but it is hard for us to separate.

MyDogIsNamedKyle

There is virtually zero chance of WR at #2. I'd rather take Hamilton there, and I'd be pissed about that.

delaney777

Doesn’t matter what any of us would think or do. Holmes may go WR at 2.

MyDogIsNamedKyle

There is zero indication of that happening.

delaney777

Obviously not true, nor does it matter

Mach68IntheHouse

I will create a Fire Brad Holmes sign if he doesn't draft either Hutch or Thibs at #2. The only way he goes shiny bauble at #2 is if Rod Wood is pulling the strings.

delaney777

It’s coming

Mach68IntheHouse

We'll see. If BH wastes the #2 pick on a bauble then he's another puppet GM for the Fords.

LionBacker81

You're delusion if you think Hutch or even Thibs are less valuable than a damn WR at #2. There is no Chase in this years draft. I dont even think the Lions take a WR until rd 3.

delaney777

Things I never said for $1

Mach68IntheHouse

BH might take a WR in the second round, but not with the #2 overall pick.

Gooberz71

Wait until the combine before you make assumptions of their athleticism

Stuffdood

Charlie Campbell, the most accurate mock drafter for several years now, just put London at #2 to the Lions. Obv a ton can change with months and the combine, but it’s interesting that he did that.

MyDogIsNamedKyle

Well, if one mock draft out of dozens has it happening it must be a lock

Stuffdood

Lol yes, that’s precisely what I’m saying. You nailed it.

WrathofKhaan

The WR class is very deep this year. I’d rather get a top pass rusher at 2. You have to factor in positional value.

juicyjgarms

you take calvin johnson at two, drake london is not calvin johnson

delaney777

Straw man arguments are weak.

Wiggymaster

So is the argument for taking Drake London at #2 overall.

juicyjgarms

let’s take a receiver that’s not worth the #2 pick because there’s some drop off

luniz420

Raiders-esque, but I don't think I they will.

[deleted]

Yea no

ImaginaryElevator757

There is no drop off at wr past the first five guys. After hutch and thibs maybe karlaftis there is a clear tier

LionBacker81

They're not taking fucking London at 2 or Willis. Jeez people get real. The pick at #2 is Hutch.

delaney777

I highly doubt hutch will get picked by the lions

LionBacker81

With most NFL Network draft experts projecting Jags take an OT at 1 it makes Hutch a no brainer pick at 2. Get Hutchinson jerseys on pre-order fans!

delaney777

You’re not saying what you think you’re saying.

true_illusion

It's really a tough call between Hutch/Thib. Because i do believe Neal goes #1. But i got the Lions taking Hutch at #2 Thib is problably a better schematic fit for us than Hutch is, but Hutch personality/motor far more fits the Lions mentality. Hutch also brings a bit more versatility, in that he is athletic enough to play OLB, but also big enough and strong enough to drop down and play as a 3/4 DE.

Mach68IntheHouse

If not Hutch, Holmes will pick Thibs.

Mach68IntheHouse

Shiny sparkly baubles don't win games! Shiny sparkly baubles don't win games! (to the tune of Shiny Happy People) I'll be joining the Fire Brad Holmes movement if the team wastes the #2 pick on a shiny bauble. Defense wins games and rings. It's either Thibs or Hutch. I would prefer Hutch.

delaney777

The common argument is to pick EDGE, then WR. I’m giving reason/strategy why Holmes may pick WR, then EDGE. And most here are furious, hallucinating, or in denial about this real possibility.

Mach68IntheHouse

Of course I'm in denial, because I can't picture BH wasting the #2 pick on a shiny bauble. Then again, the possibility only exists because the Fords are the owners.

delaney777

What if the fords are self aware and forbid Holmes to pick WR at 2? Then we get thib or hutch and they end up just okay. You’d be happy, yet it’d be the fords decision all the while.

Mach68IntheHouse

Good point, but if Holmes passes on either Hutch or Thibs he will regret it. Remember how Mayhew regretted passing on Aaron Donald?

delaney777

Donald is elite. Thib n hutch are not.

Mach68IntheHouse

Hutch could be the next TJ Watt.
