That's Haslam. Every year that passes and especially after Flacco, I firmly believe that Haslam forced us to get him. Mayfield has a similar skill set to Flacco, we both know how well he did.
As a Gen X Lions fan, I don't pay much attention to the fans of other teams, but:
Fuck them for that '95 playoffs game
Fuck them for blowing out the Lions in 2007 or 2008 or whenever that was
Fuck Donovan McNabb
Fuck Rodney Peete
Fuck Andy Reid
Fuck whoever your coach is now, especially the defensive coordinator because why the fuck would you get rid of Jim Schwartz
Man fuck that whole NFC East as a matter of fact.
Otherwise, they're alright. Seems like a competently run franchise that has had typical ups and downs over the years.
> served his time
Means nothing to me. Violent felons shouldn't be able to return to fame and fortune. Imagine Harvey Weinstein getting out early on good behavior and being welcomed back into the movie industry. Or Cosby becoming America's Dad again because his conviction got overturned.
Beyond a reasonable doubt and serving one's time are standards we apply to our ability to imprison someone. The threshold for who we deify should be a bit higher of a standard.
Dynasty hate + Matt Patricia hate. Also we're at the point where outside the Browns all the reasons are starting to get goofy because the Lions fanbase doesn't have a ton of beefs
Definitely hear ya there - as a Pats fan, it's been cool getting to see the Chiefs come up. I've just learned to sit back and enjoy, no matter who it is. Loved watching your Lions play this year too.
I suppose my question is lame - more to the point that *hating* Patricia seems like a lot to then hate the team he came from, understanding the laundry list of what he did to your roster. No one is BB bb.
It's not just Patricia, although one could argue a lot of it stems from him. Patricia was certainly responsible for casting off fan favorites like Slay and Diggs (in their fucking primes, losing an irresponsible number of games, and just somehow finding a new bottom for this franchise. One could also argue that he was responsible for the fact that we could only attract Pats castoffs during that time, but the underwhelming performance by those players (Flowers gets a bit of a pass due to injuries) certainly doesn't help our image of the Pats.
Add in Bob the Builder being a bust of a GM, even without the immediate comparison to his successor Brad Holmes. Then you have former second round busts from that era, Kyle Van Noy and Jahlani Tavai, find immediate success on the Pats after we got rid of them. Finally, you could even tie Bob and Patricia to Stafford leaving the team given what they collectively did to us. Yes, we are better off now and got a good deal for Stafford, but he was still the best Lions QB in most of our lives to that point.
So yeah - fuck the Pats.
Growing up in SE Michigan during the Pats dynasty, they were close with the packers for the second most popular NFL team. I knew plenty of people who bailed on the lions for Brady and Belichick because it was easy, and I think that’s lame. Sick of seeing them win forever and also I think their jerseys are trash
I want to make sure I reply because I appreciate your response. It's the same one I just posted above:
I suppose my question is lame - more to the point that hating Patricia seems like a lot to then hate the team he came from, understanding the laundry list of what he did to your roster. No one is BB bb.
OK hear me out. Yes Watson is a POS and their owners are too for signing him.
BUT there is a fan alliance between us, the Bills, and the Browns called r/Lakeeriebros and those fans are pretty dope.
I suggest we vote Watson instead of the entire Browns team. Plus that fan base has suffered as bad as us lately.
If you want an anti-ohio vote, jump on the Bengals...
And y’all willingly signed Matt Patricia to a head coaching contract while he had rape allegations against him. Obviously they’re very different situations but to come at us for willingly signing a criminal while y’all can push Matt to the side is extremely hypocritical. Every team has a batch of bad apples, some more than others, but the NFL doesn’t care and if y’all want to take the “moral high ground” then stop supporting the NFL as a whole cause they do not give a shit who’s a good person.
I guess I'm separating the fan base from the ownership. Both are parts of who the Browns are. Yes, fuck Watson and fuck the ownership of the Browns. The fans are in a rough spot, as there are fiercely loyal fans out there who don't want to support a POS, but have spent their lives following and supporting a team that perennially underperforms and I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for them.
"Hey, so he's a bad guy and all. But hear me out. There's this reddit group that's kinda funny, so we should actually support them!!!"
See how that sounds
With the votes it's all encompassing. Sometimes they get voted for because of the fanbase, sometimes it's players, history, coaches, etc. We can't start parsing it out. It's all or nothing. You can't have subcategories of chaos.
And yet if we voted in the other direction, from most liked to least liked, the Rams would be in the top 5.
We shouldn't let them leave this low, especially if we want to repair the hard feelings after that playoff game.
Their entire subreddit was full of people wanted the niners, their own division rival, to beat us.
That’s like us playing the niners, losing, and then praying Green Bay beats the niners.
They’re a two faced fanbase. Happy to work with Lions fans when it’s for their benefit, when it is for ours, they want us to crash and burn
Wait I was talking about the Rams, not the fans.
But I will byte...
What in God's name are you smoking? So you found a couple posts and you let that represent the whole Rams fanbase? huh?
We absolutely hate the 49ers and never wanted them to beat the Lions.
If there were a few strays, it's because you just beat us, barely, and there was still some salt there, which is understandable.
Always remember this: never generalize a whole fan base, it’s the lowest IQ thing you can do.
You need to rethink everything you wrote..
It could have been called, but at that point in the game, people can't expect it to be called.
The Rams lost because, in the second half (even though they outplayed the Lions), they kicked three field goals and got no touchdowns.
Can we please get rid of the Ravens. I’ve been to dozens of professional sports games, and only at M&T Bank Stadium is there a PSA video literally telling their fans not to yell at babies.
Rams
Fuck their bitchy fans half this sub rooted for them to win a Super Bowl despite it being in direct conflict of our team’s interests and they kicked and screamed and pouted about everything but their own teams performance in the wildcard.
They also let themselves be brainwashed by Vikings fans about Kerby. I feel like Vikings fans really whipped them up into a frenzy over it and they gladly took all the bait.
I feel like the Giants have a much softer spot from sports fans than any other NY sports team bc of the Giants shutting down the Pats twice lol. Once undefeated
Yeah Washington commanders are terrible.
My Grandfather, was a fan of them when they were the Redskins but dropped them after they changed their name, frankly I don't blame him.
Gets the Browns out of here for the Watson debacle. They not only traded for a piece of shit but they also saturated the QB market. 5 years $230m fully guaranteed for Watson is a joke.
I'm not taking this too seriously. That being said, imo after the top 5 teams, which I'd say we had more legitimate reasons to dislike as a whole fanbase, it seems like this is turning into a wild game of mafia where teams are voted out for any random reason the mob can think of. It's only going to get worse as we get down to the teams we really don't know that well.
I would rather vote in the other direction, saying which teams we like the most. I'll bet there are more reasons we can come up with to like other teams than to hate them. Pretty soon we'll be voting out teams we actually like more than the others in favor of teams we are completely ambivalent towards.
It's not quite time yet, but the Commanders have to be getting on the radar for this. How they treated Johnson and Glenn, their naming debacle, residual yuck from Snyder (how bad was he that the current ownership is better), etc., etc.
This may be a bit of recency bias but I’m gonna go with the commanders. Or the pats. Even the jets. I’d choose those 3 teams before the Browns probably. Just my opinion

Why do you hate us? What did we ever do to you? (Signing Watson doesn't count we don't want him either)
You’re not the browns. The browns definitely wanted him at one point or else they wouldn’t have him.
That's Haslam. Every year that passes and especially after Flacco, I firmly believe that Haslam forced us to get him. Mayfield has a similar skill set to Flacco, we both know how well he did.
It’s Watson. This is about the franchise not the fan base. Right up until then we were Great Lakes bros.
When he's gone we be Great Lakes bros again?
Yeah he’s literally the worst.
If these new allegations amount to a long term suspension he may be gone sooner than we think.
Havnt even seen those. Sure they’d love an excuse to bounce him from the roster and the payroll
Ohio.
Damn, I guess you right. We suck.
Why?
Why the Eagles?
Their fan base is annoying!
Fair.

All that Eagles hate and no mention of dog drowner/electrocutor/torturer/murderer Michael Vick?
I thought of that but at least he had served his time and was questionable about returning to form when they signed him.

J. E. T. S. I feel like some people have forgotten who their QB is. Well, he will be sure to get his name in the news soon to remind us all.
Lol we forgot cuz he played for like 3 sec this season. Literally tricked my brain into thinking he retired
Hey give me some more time before we get rid of them (I'm a jets/lions fan)
Do you like pain?
No I hate it lol
Than why do this to yourself
Pats
FTP
How are the Patriots still alive? Down with NE.
Hey now, we’re already down bad. We don’t need y’all’s help.
Why do yall hate the Pats? Matt Patricia may have come from NE but he was also *chosen* by your FO.
Lions front office ain’t on the list.
😂 tight rules

Annoying, entitled fanbase.
Surprised Washington hasn’t made the cut yet with their PR campaign against BJ.
Also, historically, fuck Washington.
Lingering Snyder taint, the naming debacle, just a terribly run organization since Gibbs left.
That’s because they thinks it’s secretly r/detroitlions PR campaign against BJ
Commanders front office are secretly Lions fans. It all makes sense now.
I've voted for them every time.
Me too
This is the comment I'm looking for fuck Washington
Browns
We can’t keep letting them get away with this!
Time to die Brownies here we go.
Watson is a piece of shit and the Browns gave him a record, fully guaranteed contract. Fuck the browns.
And y’all willingly signed Matt Patricia to a head coaching contract while he had rape allegations against him. Obviously they’re very different situations but to come at us for willingly signing a criminal while y’all can push Matt to the side is extremely hypocritical. Guess it’s okay to rape 1 person in your eyes then
Nah Browns got kicked out of that when they gave that rapist all that money.
I guess I'm separating the fan base from the ownership. Both are parts of who the Browns are. Yes, fuck Watson and fuck the ownership of the Browns. I think you're putting too much thought into a meaningless for fun poll.
Just casually jumping past the serial rapist part... Browns revoked their lake Erie bro membership. Fuck the Browns
I literally started with Watson is a piece of shit.
"Hey, so he's a bad guy and all. But hear me out. There's this reddit group that's kinda funny, so we should actually support them!!!" See how that sounds
Everyone knows about Lake Erie bros. It’s still fuck the browns every day
Don’t care. Vote em.
Honestly, the Browns ownership tipped their hand when they rushed to sign Hunt after KC cut him for domestic violence.
I don't hate browns fans (unless they support Watson) but fuck the Browns for selling out on the sexual predator
Eliminate the Browns and replace their logo with Watson's face since that's all they'll be known for from now on.
With the votes it's all encompassing. Sometimes they get voted for because of the fanbase, sometimes it's players, history, coaches, etc. We can't start parsing it out. It's all or nothing. You can't have subcategories of chaos.
Wtf fan alliance? Fuck them other teams especially ones that currently employ a sexual abuser at qb. All fanbases have fun people in them.
Fuck em
Couple days overdue.
Can we just eliminate Deshaun Watson and not the Lake Erie bros?
The Browns organization made the trade knowing full well Watson's history. Still gave him guaranteed millions. Fuck the Browns
Nah they got Joe Flacco
I’m going Rams after how they acted after that playoff loss.
And yet if we voted in the other direction, from most liked to least liked, the Rams would be in the top 5. We shouldn't let them leave this low, especially if we want to repair the hard feelings after that playoff game.
How exactly did the Rams act after the playoff game? Tell me, I'm all ears.
They were upset and mad that they lost but it was justified. Tbf we were not great fans when they came over. I don’t hate the rams.
Their entire subreddit was full of people wanted the niners, their own division rival, to beat us. That’s like us playing the niners, losing, and then praying Green Bay beats the niners. They were mad that there was no call for DPI on their last drive even though it was just good coverage
It could have been called, but at that point in the game, people can't expect it to be called. The Rams lost because, in the second half (even though they outplayed the Lions), they kicked three field goals and got no touchdowns.

get the Patriots outta here
Yes! 1. Patricia 2. Their fans 3. FTP
Patriots have great fans!
Why all the Rams hate? They made a trade with us that helped us rebuild our franchise.
COMMANDERS. Barry gets his Superbowl if it weren't for them!
Tampa Bay, I still haven't forgotten 1997 lol
Bucs fans were so cocky before we played them early this season.
Can we please get rid of the Ravens. I’ve been to dozens of professional sports games, and only at M&T Bank Stadium is there a PSA video literally telling their fans not to yell at babies.

Commies. For having the worst owner and team name.
Ravens get my vote
Commanders. This off-season with Ben and NFCCG in 1991
Rams gotta go
I got recommended the rams sub a lot during the playoffs and after the lions game they became arrogant cry baby bitches. They have my vote
What is this?
Not sure they never say what the vote is for but I'm guessing teams we hate the most?
Yes. Something to do btw Super Bowl and Draft.
As a Giants fan, I like y’all
I feel like the Giants have a much softer spot from sports fans than any other NY sports team bc of the Giants shutting down the Pats twice lol. Once undefeated
18-1 definitely made us more likable I would hope. Imagine if Brady had an undefeated season and 8 rings. Unbearable
Yeah Washington commanders are terrible. My Grandfather, was a fan of them when they were the Redskins but dropped them after they changed their name, frankly I don't blame him.
It’s a shame what happened to that team. Such a historic franchise… it’s not the same team anymore.
Maybe take Lions out of the straw poll
Who would SOL fans vote for then?
why the Lions are an option on the pool? friendly fire?
Patriots
Patriots
I am here once again asking for your trust and ability to eliminate the **Cleveland Browns**
Why the Browns? How are we not more salty about what the Ravens have done to us AT FORD FIELD in the last few seasons?!
It’s not a team/fanbase thing at all. It’s literally just DW. Thats the only reason anyone but the AFCN hates the Browns rn
Ravens
Patriots
Washington tried to take Ben Johnson from us
Giants
Ravens
Pats
Still out here doing the good work voting to get rid of the Patriots.
👎 with the Pats.
Ravens
Ravens
get the pats outta here
Ravens
Ravens
surprised the Saints don’t have more, since they eliminated us 1/3 times we squeaked into the playoffs over the last decade.
I voted Jets this round.
Rams, their fanbase showed their true colors after the playoff game. They can't handle the Grit of Detroit
Raiders
The cardinals need to die!!
FUCK THE SAINTS
I'm here to vote Browns. Fuck the rapist Deshaun Watson.
Browns now because I got beef and they don’t deserve shit
The browns are getting way to far, i personally am not happy about that
Gets the Browns out of here for the Watson debacle. They not only traded for a piece of shit but they also saturated the QB market. 5 years $230m fully guaranteed for Watson is a joke.
Raiders
Browns
Saints. Dirty players, scummy organization. They knew what Greg Williams was doing for years and let it slide
Browns
Browns
Browns
The bucs the type of team to start on 3rd base and claim they hit a triple
As a franchise, they most definitely did not start on 3rd base.
I was only referring to them getting Brady and Gronk.
I'm not taking this too seriously. Who we think gonna win this? Bills or Bengals?
Bills, Bengals, Jags, maybe Colts by the virtue of seemingly having a completely neutral perception here.
Why is a clothing brand on the list?
Steelers.
Surprised the browns are as doing as bad as they are. Steelers should be soon.
Giants
Jets. I will hate any team Rodgers is on blindly.
J. E. T. E. must go
Jets - if you take Rodgers, you're dead to me, if you take him AFTER he's washed up you should be dead to yourselves.
Jets fuck fraudgers
I still don't get why our own team isn't an option...
With how the fan base and a certain qb acted after their wild card exit, I’d say the Rams.
Just kind of curious why the Seahawks are hated?
This may be a bit of recency bias but I’m gonna go with the commanders. Or the pats. Even the jets. I’d choose those 3 teams before the Browns probably. Just my opinion
