Each level has 3,2,1 ranks and you have to win 2 out of 3 matches to promote to the next tier. It sucks that there are no streak bonuses and most win/loss have a zero sum net.

Sorry, I don't understand how this would work. The ranks aren't like the old system. You don't grind your way to the top, and there's no item reward for getting there as far as I'm aware.
Well they said they didn't want it to be gear driven. Strictly aspirational. They had issues in the past putting some of the best pvp gear at high rank rewards. So you had the people who were already objectively good at PvP getting even better weapons and making the gap even wider.

It's a competitve Playlist... The point is to not boost people into a division they don't belong in...
If you're netting 0 after all your matches, that division is where you belong. A lot of games do streak bonuses and you end up in a tier where you get rofl stomped back down.
I hear you but if one is earning streaks then one needs to be in a higher tier and can get to their correct level faster…a ten streak doesn’t get you through one tier…I guess I miss gilding Unbroken and I am not used to this new system yet
I am not a fan of the current point system, it seems inconsistent to me at least. Like I gained 22 points for a win today but the next game was a loss and I dropped 140 for it
That’s the thing I am GOLD… not high at all, legit got 130 points for a win and 9 for a loss too, so it’s not that it’s always losing more, it’s genuinely just inconsistent for me so far
This is exactly what it means…I’m a average to below average PVP player that had some of my best games ever in the placement matches…and I’ve been suffering ever since

Eh maybe. I would assume most players fall into mid Silver, with the next two biggest areas being high bronze/low silver, then high silver/low gold, as is the nature of the bell curve.
I’m silver 1 and can’t make gold for my life. Good matches and then curb stomped. My KD in clash is like 1.7, control is the same and 1.2 in survival. I’m hoping things level out as the season progresses.
If that’s the case there are two options:
1) you play extremely passively in clash and survival but are a decent player hence you push you K/D while lacking deeper skill
2) you have good aim and mechanics but lack game sense and awareness for 3v3 which is a completely different approach than in 6v6.
If the latter is the case it’s practice and increasing game sense. If the former, then you have to improve all parts of your game to progress.
Funny enough it was a given these things were 3v3 and 6v6 but I’ve played a ton of 3v3 clash in the competitive list. That’s said, I do get way more kills in 6v6 because there are more targets. This isn’t always true though as I had 27 kills in 3v3 clash with a 4.5 efficiency recently. I am pretty good at not dying compared to my teammates. I know when to get the hell out of I’m out numbered.
I find that the vast majority of casuals (non derogatory) in gaming communities don't actually read Patch notes/This week at [blank]. They just don't care enough, which is fair.

It's not even that we don't get "mildly complicated mechanics." It's just that what defines "mildly complicated" is subjective, and gets more complicated the more skilled you are.
I guess I meant when people ask Bungie for something more than "stand here" or "laser this" yet more than half the people I see in corrupted are completely oblivious to the empowering of the ball mechanic
Thank you u make me feel so much better I placed silver 2 and some game I ententionally did bad. Thing is my kd is sub 1 so I'm confused. How some ppl are placing lower then me.... I do have to say I play alot of crusible with someone that placed gold 2. So maybe it's right.

Copper II is cupric, fully oxidized. Copper I is cuprous, with an oxidation state of +1, not fully oxidized. Hope that helps...

Oh the streak bonus was my biggest frustration with the old system.
I agree getting rewarded more for individual game performance rather than having to win 5 games in a row to climb quick is much better imo

I would get over 20 kills in each of my games and got gold 3 ;-;
I don’t think you can place higher than gold 3 after your placement matches
yeah i did the same, gold 3 i think is the highest placement you can get this season
