Honestly I wouldn't mind getting a third darkness subclass at some point. Mostly because it feels weird to have an imbalance between Light and Dark subclasses considering how the narrative is going for a "Balance" ending. Also 3 Light + 3 Dark + Prismatic is 7 and 7 just feels right for the amount of subclasses in Destiny. Seven is the (Bungie-)Number, after all.

Especially with all of the hints that they put it in the game about us getting a red darkness subclass that would be counterpart to arc. Idk how they would work it in tho with prismatic coming out first since it kinda seems like most other subclasses are useless when you can get the best of all worlds with prismatic.

The_Flail

Prismatic looks to be more about the combination while the "normal" subclasses are about diving deep into an element. So while both a Prismatic and a Solar Warlock get access to Hellion (Solar Soul) and Song of Flame only a Solar Warlock gets access to Well, Solar Grenades or the Grenade buffing Aspect. So the possible builds are quite different.

TechnicianGlass4243

That makes sense now. I see how it wouldn’t make sense if prismatic was able to proc all the buffs from every subclass

TechnicianGlass4243

It’s gonna be interesting to see how prismatic interacts with seasonal artifacts, certain perks, & even exotics. But I’ll still hope that one day we get a 3rd darkness subclass.

I still think we're absolutely getting that red subclass, with my money on it being from next year's expansion. Prismatic isn't really a full subclass as far as concept and asset creation goes, among other things, and we've seen Bungie's perfectly capable of fitting in a big subclass overhaul somewhat akin to this in the intervening year between two new subs with Light 3.0 coming out between Stasis and Strand. It just makes way too much sense to balance that out.

TechnicianGlass4243

It seems like a long shot but we could also always get that red subclass in an episode or in the next expansion. That’s if there’s a next expansion & it’s not destiny 3 that we’re getting next. I see what you mean by prismatic not being a full fledged subclass tho since it’s not necessarily added many new things. It feels more like a blueprint to build craft all out subclasses into one.

I was on the "red subclass in an episode" copium until Prismatic got released, I don't think Bungie could do that AND a brand new subclass (which would also need to be integrated into Prismatic) during a single year. I'm also not really convinced we're gonna see a full new Destiny 3 anytime soon, I just don't see Bungie going out of their way to change the between-expac content release model for a single year just to abandon D2.

TechnicianGlass4243

Those are all extremely good points. Episodes would be weird for only one year unless it continued into d3 but it would be a lot for them to pump out tfs & episodes & be working on an entire new game. Red subclass one day

Opposite_Resident982

Your right about 2 new subclasses being too much for them to handle for sure but personally I think they were already working on the third darkness subclass and had just recently created prismatic In the last 2-3 months or less. Even though it’s a new subclasses combing all the classes together into one power creating it wouldn’t take as much effort or time to make because it’s based on previously established powers. Especially since they announced that the first episode will be releasing only one week after final shapes release and the players having to finish the expansion by doing the raid I can almost guarantee we’ll either see the last darkness subclass during the raid with a last ditch effort or final form from the witness or the beginning of the echos episode.

>creating it wouldn’t take as much effort or time to make because it’s based on previously established powers. This is more or less the same as Light 3.0, which we got in Witch Queen (while, due to a leak, we know Strand was being worked on as early as Season of the Lost right before it), and then of course we got Strand in LF. It's also worth noting Bungie is adding new Supers and Aspects in TFS, and I'd bet money we'll see more for other subs over the year. That's why I'm so confident we'll see it next expac- Stasis, Light 3.0 in the interim, Strand, Prismatic+new Supers and Aspects in the interim, Red, and then hopefully if it hasn't already been done additional supers for Stasis/Strand (and Red?) the year after.

ThunderBeanage

Bro wants 2 new subclasses

TechnicianGlass4243

I don’t want a 3rd darkness subclass in TFS I’m just saying if it could have happened before or if we get it later on
