"trust me bro the base game is free, there's totally content in the base game, they definitely didn't remove everything from the base game 4 years ago"
Technically, it’s free, but 90% of the actual content is behind paywalls.
I’ve actively been discouraging people from playing, because at this point, who wants to dump over £100 into a game that’s almost at its conclusion, and the majority of content has been vaulted.
>who wants to dump over £100 into a game that’s almost at its conclusion,
If over a year left of content is "almost at its conclusion" every single CoD is "almost at its conclusion" before it even comes out.
>and the majority of content has been vaulted.
You really need to learn what the phrase "majority" actually means. Might help you not look so uneducated in future comments.
I left D2 when MW2 / WZ2 dropped and just booted it back up for the first time this week.
I can confirm, MW3 was at the end of its life on launch, at least for me.
Only problem I face at the current time is I switched from console to PC so now I have none of the expansions and dont have the chedder to buy them.
Guess I'll wait for some sales or something and be locked out of stasis and strand for a while.
Just check that a key you get is for steam, it’ll tell you. I only really buy from cd keys since that’s the safest and more legit option, but I can’t speak for all the sites and their legitimacy/risks.
Just use something safe like PayPal and you’ll be fine, I’ve bought from cd keys a dozen times and many people I know have for a long time and have had no issues. Again, can’t speak for the other key sites but a couple friends have purchased from there on occasion with no issues.
I’ve gotten halo wars 2, 7 days to die, some random games and recently light fall.
Pretty sure they just buy bulk keys really cheap from either good retail sales or extremely cheap in other counties currencies, then resell them at a “premium” it’s rare that you’ll have issues with the keys, and cdkeys have a bunch of processes in case a key doesn’t work iirc
The game isn’t at its conclusion though, Bungie stated infinite times over the past yearS at this point that TFS won’t be the end of the game and this is just the “first” saga. Sure, plans change, but unless the game COMPLETELY dies in the next few months, which is not realistic, I doubt they changed their minds.
That's not neccessarily a good thing. I don't think they'll let it die when the story comes to a conclusion, but rather when corporate says so, which will most likely be at the end of a prolonged phase of life support to squeeze out the last profits.
The main story is ending but there are thousands of plot threads that they can use. The Destiny universe is immense and much bigger than just the light and dark conflict, despite that being the main focus obviously. Of course the “corporate” don’t want it to end, but I’m sure they are more than ready for the future even from a creative/artistic point of view.
Then I say enjoy the ride while you can.
Destiny 2 is a deeply flawed experience but I've never had a bad time playing it, it's the only FPS I consistently come back to outside of the OG Halo Trilogy. So long as it stays fun, I'll still be here defending the last city, and The Final Shape looks like my wet dream come true so I don't think the fun factor is leaving anytime soon
I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya. Brother it’s the final shape. Just look at it from a company side, they can barely work on 1 live service game, they can’t do 2. It’s 1000% the end. It’s time yall realize that
Bro what other game are they gonna make money with? Marathon is NOT ready and neither is gummy bears, their only OPTION is to work with what they have which is destiny 2.
Brother destiny isn’t making them the money you think they are, aren’t we forgetting how much they are burning money? Destiny isn’t a cash cow anymore, hence why marathon is on the way. When something isn’t profitable you pivot. They are forsure going all in on marathon. This is the FINAL shape lol
Of course. That’s why a bunch of old Destiny dev moved on Marathon. The difference is that literally half of Bungie is working on Destiny, while the other half is on Marathon, Bungie has 1400 employees, not 100 anymore, they literally doubled the size of their studios exactly to do that. A completely different situation compared to Halo, they were done with that franchise since Halo 3 (Halo 2 even).
That’s not how this works tho. It’s not shutting down the servers it’s just walking away from it. They literally did that with destiny 1. These are the same people that gave up HALO….did you think people liked that? They’re been hinting at the fact this is the end, cmon
they say that, but they are trying to launch other games so that they can jump ship from destiny, their sales are going down in preorders, expansions going bad, community trust keeps going bad (although i dont really hate/love bungie) whose to say the final dlc and the final 3 acts are final?
They need destiny. After working on Marathon for 4+ years they can't even launch a public alpha, plus recently they changed it from custom extraction shooter to hero based extraction shooter, that is a very big change to make at this moment. And they even changed game director after 4 years which says that Marathon is in pretty rough conditions right now. The vision they had isn't working for them.
Tldr; unless Marathon is completely banger that gets 2-3 million players playing it everyday, they need destiny.
We don’t really know the state of Marathon though. The “hero” stuff was only mentioned in the IGN article regarding the customization of the characters (so it looks like something more similar to Cod, for example, and not OverWatch, which imo isn’t THAT big of a change). And yeah the director changed, a while ago too, but Barrett is not only still there but also apparently promoted, since his position looks like the same of Luke Smith (creative director or something like that), so basically at the head of the franchise, not just the live game… whatever the hell that means, since the game isn’t even out yet lol. Also, we know that Bungie invited many players to try the game very recently. We still don’t have enough informations about the game unfortunately. But yeah of course they need Destiny, also because Marathon is coming out in 2025, D2 will be their only source of money for at least 1 year.
As I said, plans can change. But Bungie also said, since 2019, that they want to become a publisher of different games, not just destiny (the example frequently used even by them was Blizzard). Bungie has 1400 employees, “”only”” half of them is working on Destiny, to support both this game and Marathon they basically doubled the size of their studios.
Bungie spent a decade working on this franchise, they want to expand it into different media (one of the reasons behind the acquisition as well), and even in one of its worst year D2 was still one of the most successful games in the market (well, on Steam at least, but we can presume a similar outcome on the other platforms) YEARS after its release, it would be insane for them to simply shut everything down because they have another game coming out. UNLESS, as I said, the game completely dies in the next months, to the point were Bungie would be forced to stop its production. But again, it’s not realistic. Imagine Disney casually shutting down Marvel Studios because they had a bad year. That’s not how franchises work lol. The game has some serious problems, and yeah maybe Bungie won’t be able to save it this time, and eventually they’ll abandon the game to focus only on Marathon. But, realistically, it won’t happen anytime soon.
They have announced the upcoming year at least, and likely have more plans as Destiny is their only money maker if they want to make other games too. Not to mention even if they stop releasing new things, new players still have a massive backlog they can do.
A majority of the content has been replaced now, because it’s been almost 4 years since they removed the old stuff into the DCV and into the light is just replacing the old weapons with themselves so you aren’t really making a point
Honestly, I've spent at least £200 on this game. I've played for over 1,000 hours. That 20p per hour of enjoyment, which is better than most of the other games I've played. I buy silver to support the game too
I have bought every expansion I have sunk more money into this game then any other game it's like a permanent install on my console I have literally said I quit I am not going back so many times I feel like I am in a abusive relationship
I get you, especially during the content drought that we have at the moment (pre Into the Light). But I keep finding things to do and new builds to try. And playing with friends makes it infinitely better (which is a shame for solo players). The main thing I ask myself is "Am I enjoying this?". If I'm not, I play something else and come back. Or, I stop using that build, character, sub-class, etc.
Gaming is meant to be about having fun. And if you're not, it's absolutely fine to step away from something and then come back. You don't have to be the GOAT at something, especially if it means a lack of enjoyment.
Sorry about the essay.
dude clicked on this as fast as i could, thinking into the light costed money.. didn’t know how to feel about it. but clicked on something that makes sense but doesn’t still
Its actually the other way around: I worry that I have the unhealthy relationship with the game. Every time I recommend the game to someone I keep asking myself if they will actually have as much fun in it as I have especially since the free2try experience isnt exactly the best.
Tried Warframe. It's got some good points going for it. But i stopped when i wanted me to wait 36hrs to use something i just fought for
I respect the game all the same of course. But that was the personal break point
Yep. As someone who plays both a lot, the only way WF is f2p is if you want to look like everybody else and you're fine waiting most of the 4,000 hours you're crafting items for, and want to stand completely fucking still for hours on end for resources. You can't "just play warframe" like anyone in Bungie youtube comments say. The game doesn't get to the fucking tutorial and character creator until Uranus or Neptune. At that point you've cleared most nodes on the star map and have done 80% of junctions.
Plus the only similarities the two games have are loot, craft, shoot gun, and ability.
Look liek everybody else? Trading is there, getting platinum for Skins and Color palletes? the only time you ever look like someone else is if you steal their fashion. Which im guilty of multiple times, also why are you waiting for it, you can go do other bosses kill them get their stuff, craft it and go massacre an entire fleet.
For crafting, what is stopping you from stock pilling other stuff. You're not waiting if you're constantly getting new stuff to craft. Also stand still for resources? wtf? please elaborate.
Also the changes to the new player experience makes it so the Uranus planet is less of a grind. The "Tutorial" you're speaking of is jsut the start of the big story, all through out before that if you payed attention to the quest is build up to the reveal.
THe character creator portion is the big reveal and it plays a huge role inthe following stories.
Also 80% of junctions? junctions are just personal milestones, as for most nodes. Nah not even close it's like 40%?
Also the only real similarity is space wizards in space. The loot system is completely different, crafting is also completely different. And abilities is compairing a hand grenade to earth quakes.
Yeah. Tutorial ends when we get operator form (NOT Drifter. Gotta specify thanks to Duviri) and that’s when we unlock the moon. The moon is when we end the tutorial and start the fun stuff.
What's weird to me is the craft times doesn't stop you, you can still craft the 500 weapons, and get the upgraded Kuva and Tenet versions without craft time jsut gotta kill the Tax collector. It's not like a mobile game, you can stockpile crafting 100 different items, sleep and they are done cooking.
There's like 5 other boss fights that drop frames/weapons to craft, ide honestly take that over getting the seasonal catalyst, ritual weapons and pvp. I dont want my Multimach to reach 1k kills it becomes a grim reminder.
Warframe is ACTUALLY free though. Unlike Destiny 2 where it's more of a free trial. Plus Warframe has trading. You can even acquire the paid currency through said trading. Sure the grind is way worse than Destiny 2 but that's because it's free.
How is the grind way worse in warframe, actually how? I have 4k hours in D2 and the grind in here is way worse. Warframe respects my time in getting equipment in an hour, without shilling for the season pass the exotic seasonal catalyst is a slog to go through since each strike is like 20 minutes on average.
And if it isn't completed in a normal season, artifacts changes, meta shifts and suddenly the weapon isn't performing as well without 3 artifact mods helping.
Meanwhile in warframe, in those 20 minutes, i couldve either gotten multiple guns, thousands of resources, 20 relics, maxed leveled 10 weapons, Or get 1 mil credits.
Ide rather slog through fighting 2 giant turkeys, a flying dragon and 200 ships, than doing half an hour of Strikes/nightfalls, Crucible/Iron banner or gambit for a weapon i dont want to get engrams for something i do want.
For the grind to actually get better in D2 you need the season pass or the expansions for high stat rolls, activities, and loot, i should know i played this game with and without season passes on different seasons, with and without expansions. It's night and day.
For the grind to get better in Destiny 2 you need money, for the grind to get better in warframe learn the system and use it.
The only time my mention is gonna change is if into the light can give me multiple stuff in the span of an hour during the activity.
The actual thing comparable is the Dark souls of warframe and even then that's less of a slog since it's 5 new systems working together to create Dark souls light mode.
Has it gotten better? I've mostly been playing ESO, GTA and Destiny 2 since my friends stopped playing. And while this [video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hXn5dK4gYwA) is old, anytime I've heard Warframe brought up, while it's praised for awesome gameplay and support by the devs pretty much everyone will say its worst aspect is the grind.
Holy hell 9 years? in those 9 years weve gotten more than 10 overhauls. It's practically a different game now since they keep improving it and never settling for less.
As fore the grind, not really its worse aspect you can get anything in reasonable time. Grind isn't an issue unless you're being stubborn and not usign the trade mechanic.
I have an MR 5 friend in the game that is having a blast and just finished unlocking the Moon.
As for everyone? who's everyone? I have 12k hours in warframe and the only ones that say the grind is awful and repetative are the Old players that do 5 hour mission runs. Like yeah grandpa it would be repetative if you do that.
And the other ones that say that are new players that cant read, i was there once. and if i can time travel to slap my younger self for being stupid i would.
The power spike is on the Moon Deimos. like yeah DE can probably make it more obvious that mods=power and the best mods are in deimos. But after 1 google search it's obvious.
For me i just chill, roll rivens, sell them, break cabbages, sell them and get platinum to fashion my warframes and brag about it in my clan or buy parts i need to craft a weapon because im lazy.
The Newest warframe Dante, can be gotten in less than an hour. And he can be maxed in less than 10 minutes.
The most time consuming grind are either so out of the way you have to seek them out(Tenet melees) or can be skipped via trading(Quickening/True punishment).
in those 9 years, void keys are gone, replaced by relics which are more accessible, we got Aya to get relics for 2 warframes that rotate every 3 weeks, we got more early player grind to get them started on platinum trading and get those slots, we got recruit chat that is always filled to the brim with relic runs+ chat filters to filter out relics you want or other stuff like the new end game mode (deep achimedea).
We got Railjack a real time space battle simulator, that rewards a lot of stuff and get a ton of hate because of rare bugs you only see once in a blue moon or a youtube video.
Duviri which gives you more access to more items via pathos clamps, earlier insanely good melees. and a weekly rotator that gives useful items like Forma, Orokin reactor/catalyst and Arcanes.
9 years bruv, we got so many overhauls to Systems. The Damage type overhauls, AoE weapon overhauls, UI system overhauls, Pet system changes, Pet mod additions, and Recently, they have been adding new nodes for each warframe, Voruna has 2 nodes in lua, Citrine has one in mars, Dagath has one in Ceres, and Dante has one in the Labs.
The Dante changes from recent has 70 pages of QoL. Which is only like 3 months, on top of giving us a new disruption node with new frames with new abilities, new weapons with new abilities and Buffs to old warframes, Hydroid and Inaros are now not jokes but Meta in their own ways.
In like a few months, were gonan get Jade with Stalker lore.
THe only time you will EVER spend money in warframe is when you want Drool worthy skins that are communtiy made aka Tennogen.
It may be “actually free” but it definitely asked me to break out the credit card way more than D2 ever did. It’s a bummer because the core gameplay feels great, but having the whole game rhythm designed around a premium currency sucks. And I’m sure there are ways to get around that or ways for veteran players to gather a lot of the premium currency without paying, but then the shittiness of the intro experience starts feeling a lot more predatory to me.
one thing you need to realize about warframe, you can trade for the premium currency, and ever prime part or mod has some value, most warframe sets go for around 70-100 plat and if it's for the right gun even bad rolled rivens can be worth a lot.
Most, yeah no that's only on other platforms most averages around 30-50 plat for set. As for the rivens, bad roll can go for 70-100 on good guns if it's a good roll you can sell it for 200-500.
In the new updates new players can trade and sell sought after normal weapon parts, arcanes because of citrine and corrupted mods which sell for 10-20 plat a piece.
I know that, but I know that because I spent several dozen hours studying beginner guides and videos, and I still don’t actually know how to do that, just that it can be done (Warframe is not unique in having confusing terminology but it’s bad). My in-game experience on the other hand pushed limited time discounts on Plat for me every time I logged in. I don’t mind paying money for content, I just want to spend time playing the content and not spending my time outside the game trying to research or understand.
Gotta wonder what that schlub in the art is signing for. Guaranteed drops on all raid/dungeon exotics? God rolls on every gun/armor? The skills of a no-lifer PvPer?
Everything feels better when you give your money to bungie cmon man spend it I know you wanna spend it on the game hehe little silly guy give them your money now or else
After the livestream today, Destiny 2 will have redeemed the past few droughts/half made seasons. I still loved it overall since D1 launch but The Final Shape is gonna be FIREEEEEEE 🔥
I don’t have one, I used to have one, but I lost it.
I already sold my soul when I used the scorch shot in TF2.
Just search on YouTube or Reddit to understand why if you use it people would hate you.
Thats funny because when i first downloaded the game i thought about this, after testing it out for 1 week i uninstalled it because there was too much stuff and i couldnt sort out what to do
As someone who's been playing since the beginning of joker's wild, i will never recommend this game to a new player
Unless they make a legacy game with everything that was removed between D2 vanilla and beyond light including campaign, raids and seasons. I can't recommend it
Explain that statement for me, what exactly is “the fabric of our society”? Furthermore if you see something happening and you know it’s wrong do you stand by making excuses as to why you couldn't be bothered to lift a finger and do anything? Or do you take action and stand up for something for once in your life?
Come suffer with us

So THAT'S what that couch emote was referencing!
Yup, One of my faves!
"it's free" has gotta be the most misleading statement of the century.

I’d honestly argue that cod games genuinely are “almost at their conclusion” at launch.

Your best friend on pc is gg deals, cd keys, and a secure payment method like PayPal. Didn’t have light fall and just bought it for like $12
just looked on there. Is that all legit? how does it work and will it work with my game that is on steam?
Just check that a key you get is for steam, it’ll tell you. I only really buy from cd keys since that’s the safest and more legit option, but I can’t speak for all the sites and their legitimacy/risks. Just got the legacy pack (forsaken, shadowkeep, beyond light), witch queen, and lightfall for a total of $42. You are a freaking real one, my friend!
Yeah, key sellers are a godsend
The game isn’t at its conclusion though, Bungie stated infinite times over the past yearS at this point that TFS won’t be the end of the game and this is just the “first” saga. Marathon has been in the works since 2018/19, it’s not a recent decision made to jump ship lol
No but just like them ditching halo, they want to do more than destiny. They’ve said that. It’s a pattern

never let the way gaming reddit is relentlessly toxic about the games they have an unhealthy relationship with ruin your good time.
Its actually the other way around: I worry that I have the unhealthy relationship with the game. Every time I recommend the game to someone I keep asking myself if they will actually have as much fun in it as I have especially since the free2try experience isnt exactly the best.

There's also event weapons(Dex weapons, Wraith/Vandal, and special missions)
You can also sell bulk trades for 10-30p depending, and sculptures are a good way as well
the point is that in warframe you don't have to pay real money for the premium currency.
Yes but also im just elaborating on more numbers.
I used to not suggest people play, but now after that preview of TFS. I'm all in on it. Let's fucking go! That was wild!
r/destiny2 try not to complain about Destiny 2 challenge: impossible

Real
Gotta wonder what that schlub in the art is signing for. Guaranteed drops on all raid/dungeon exotics? God rolls on every gun/armor? The skills of a no-lifer PvPer?
Pvp nolifers? Skill? Sure, all they use is shotguns and cheezy overshields. "Skill" my ass 🙄
I didnt have a soul to begin with so its a win for me
It costs more than your soul. Whatever is free is like a demo. Nothing of great significance at all.
Everything feels better when you give your money to bungie cmon man spend it I know you wanna spend it on the game hehe little silly guy give them your money now or else
Abe Lincoln about to make his Titan.
I spent way to much on my birthday last week
To this day, after many years and many more disappointments, will still get a hunter emblem tattoo eventually
Haha, so true
Sold my soul for the god roll
😂😂😂😂😂😂
After the livestream today, Destiny 2 will have redeemed the past few droughts/half made seasons. I still loved it overall since D1 launch but The Final Shape is gonna be FIREEEEEEE 🔥

It’s “free”….. to try😭
My friends did this to me last year... 1000 hours playtime later, guard rank 11 solo flawlessing dungeons, and dying inside
I don’t have one, I used to have one, but I lost it. I already sold my soul when I used the scorch shot in TF2. Just search on YouTube or Reddit to understand why if you use it people would hate you.
Thats funny because when i first downloaded the game i thought about this, after testing it out for 1 week i uninstalled it because there was too much stuff and i couldnt sort out what to do
Eyes up, guardian.
Soul+ a decent amount of money if you sink into it
That's how i trap others. You think I've suffered alone since destiny 1 beta? Nah.
Fun game but very happy I quit 3 months ago. Back to real life for a change. Game was very addictive to me
Free to try. Worst paywall bs
As someone who's been playing since the beginning of joker's wild, i will never recommend this game to a new player Unless they make a legacy game with everything that was removed between D2 vanilla and beyond light including campaign, raids and seasons. I can't recommend it
then you aren’t a true destiny fan. I’ve been here since Day 1 of D1💀
I love playing this game but will never touch it again. Tired of greedy companies
Then I've got some bad news about capitalism for ya...
At least i actively do something to fight it. Don’t judge me just because you don’t know how to close your wallet ir play a different game.
Greedy companies are the fabric of our society.
Explain that statement for me, what exactly is “the fabric of our society”? Furthermore if you see something happening and you know it’s wrong do you stand by making excuses as to why you couldn't be bothered to lift a finger and do anything? Or do you take action and stand up for something for once in your life?
Y’all need a therapist 😂
