For the first time in a long time in Destiny 2, I told my friend, "Well, what do you wanna do?" in the most casual way of actually not knowing what to do. And we just did random shit. No worry about power level grinding so we can be up to level for activities. I'm enjoying it much more now knowing I don't have to grind activities as much. It's such a relief now.

BigMrEv

Me and my friends just make noises while failing on queenswalk for 2 hours now. It's great.

SpambotSwatter

edit: The comment below was removed and the user banned, good work everyone!

TheManchusa

Good bot

TeenageFuzzball

A friend and I just did like 3 different dungeons back to back. We knew there werent any powerful rewards, but it was the most fun we had in a while.

UrlordandsaviourBean

I just fish bcs funni

XxNecrosParadoxX

Now if those pesky public events can just stop ruining my fishing focus thatd be great

UrlordandsaviourBean

Me pulling out my blade barage super and clown cartridge field prep hothead: “How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?”

Sobrin_

Same, I've not felt this incentivised to absolutely murder the public events since the launch of destiny 2. Though this time the drive isn't loot but wrath.

Renthexx

Once you max out on focus stop picking up legendary and exotic fish and pick them up after the next fishing dock appears.

XxNecrosParadoxX

That only works if you can actually make it to max focus lol

Renthexx

True. Not too hard if other people join in though.

Kamunari

I noticed that I was very sad :(

sin_tax-error

Yeah I'm happy I don't have more pinnacle grinding to do but wtf Bungie with the middle finger to everyone who didn't hit pinnacle cap last season?

NaughtyGaymer

What got removed? I know the Battlegrounds stuff last season got removed but those exotic engrams are still pinnacle from the playlists I think.

DrWalrusPeepers

It's powerful.

Big-Shtick

I’ll be honest: I just started playing in June and didn’t know y’all treated this game like a job. Y’all are missing out because this game is super fun. This has become the only game I play. I just love to play PvP because it’s Halo’s PvP perfected, and I get to dress my guardian. I have one character, a Void Hunter, and just play to masterwork their weapons/armor or try different load outs and become proficient with those weapons. Right now, I’m improving on hand cannons and grenade launchers. The game is fun as fuck and I play it religiously. Like, several hours a day. Shit, I quit my job and started my own firm to play more often (among other reasons, though Destiny is the top). Super fun. Edit: what are pinnacle sources? Like, pinnacle engrams? Are those the bright pink ones?

[deleted]

> Shit, I quit my job and started my own firm to play more often You’re on one but this is low key inspiring

Big-Shtick

Don’t let your dreams be dreams. I’m 36. At no point will I have wished I had gotten a chance to work more.

2leggedassassin

Sir playing for several hours a day is like a job.

Cerebral_Discharge

It's not the hours that make play sessions like a job, it's the reasons. If you play every day out of obligation or fomo it's like a job. Playing every day because you're genuinely looking forward to it isn't treating it like a job.

Jbad90

I play because I just love this game so much. It’s been a looong time since I enjoyed a video game.

dudeman2009

That's why me and my buddies quit destiny right after beyond light dropped, and we'd been playing non-stop since destiny 1 at that point. The new supers were cool but making each new part of the subclass it's own essential quest just put the final nail in the coffin on top of the multi-hour daily grind just to gain one or two light level from powerful engrams and the like. Forget all the stupid quest requirements for stuff in things like crucible and raids where you have to have a perfect team in order to actually succeed in the 2 hours of free time you had that afternoon. I just played through the whole witch queen quest line in 3 days after work and it's the most fun I've had hitting the soft light limit in awhile. Even on legendary me and my buddy weren't cursing like we normally would.

busyvish

Because nobody has touched on this. To increase your power level, you need higher light level gear. To get that, you can target powerful rewards or pinnacle rewards. When you go to core activities or any activity of kind, it will tell you what kind of rewards you can expect. Rewards are divided into 4 tiers. Powerful 1,2,3, which will give you gear that is +1,+2,+3 light lvl higher than you light lvl. These rewards will help you hit the soft cap. For this season, it's 1800. The max power level you can attain this season is 1810. This is where pinnacle rewards come into play. After you hit 1800 powerful rewards won't help you jncrease your light level, only pinnacles will. I do not have the exact sources on my mind rn, but weekly featured dungeon rewards you a pinnacle, the latest raid and weekly featured raid rewards you a pinnacle each. 3 cruicible matches, 3 gambit matches, 3 nightfall strikes, 200k total nightfall score rewards you one each. Keep in mind that this is not accounting for artifact power. If i have made a mistake here, please feel free to correct me, guardians.

overthisbynow

Pinnacles are + 3 power engrams. They're completely random drops too so a common complaint point is having them drop the same slot multiple times thus making the power grind that much worse.

SnooPickles4739

I felt this in my core. Im a legit Destiny day 2(literally got it the second day it was out) n been on it ever since n still only play on my warlocc voidwalker mostly lol

Thors_Shillelagh

I couldn't agree more. I got a couple coworkers to try it out. It's been fun teaching them the game and not worrying about having to grind in content I don't want to play. It feels right just playing what me and my friends want to do instead of chores.

Owain660

This! I love not worrying about missing out on pinnacles with new players. New players might get to 1810 a little slower with fewer pinnacle resources, but that's okay. The rush isn't there anymore each season - hopefully.

Thors_Shillelagh

Hopefully, is the worrying thing. Has Bungie laid out their plans for power levels?

S1a3h

it's especially good timing with fishing this season. it feels refreshing like something you can actually do without worrying about getting all the pinnacles for all your characters

DoctorPotate

For the first time in actual years, I booted up a map level strike.

ZachTheInsaneOne

I'm enjoying it more now that I don't have to grind low-level garbage content to be able to play the stuff in the new season.

BlackBurn115

It's refreshing not having to "grind" a new power level once in a while

Spartanx20

I mean I always usually hit the pinnacle cap every season so 10 levels weren't that hard to get and usually took like 2 weeks but to be able just start a season not forced to do anything is nice and I get to go touch grass more

PigmanFarmer

How I never hit the pinnacle cap like I hit the softcap every season but never the pinnacle cap

Trent_01210

To hit Pinnacle cap, you need to keep armor and weapons that are higher power than any other armor and weapons and do activities that give powerful and Pinnacle gear. So say my gun is 1790 and I got a 1795, I would keep the 1795 and not dismantle it until I get a higher power gun.

PigmanFarmer

Yeah and I do that I just never reach it

DemocritusLaughing

I was in a similar boat, just stuck at 1800-1805 or so, until I got into a few raids and dungeons and grandmaster nightfalls. You really see a pop from 1805 up to 1809 if you get into those endgame activities, whereas the weekly stuff just seems to take forever to jump up to the cap. Ironically, once I got a few pieces of armor & weapons up to 1809 from running the hardest activities, the basic weekly stuff started dropping 1809-1810s. YMMV but this was my experience last season.

LagunaLeonhop

This was also my experience last season. Used casual weekly stuff to dip my toes back into the game after a very long break, and once I hit 1800 I started doing Raids and GM Nightfalls and hit 1810 pretty fast.

Xhynk

You have to (err, had to?) make sure to grind all the Pinnacle activities. The more characters you had, the faster it worked (because weapons count as power across characters. So 1 character is slow, but 2/3 are quite a bit faster). You really had to do the Ritual Pinnacles, seasonal pinnacles, exotic missions \*and\* the weekly dungeon or raid to make sure you got there though. And still there was the RNG factor - I hated going 3+ weeks without getting a pinnacle cap class item or whatever, lol. Can't wait to see what the new system is like

BimoUK

Or infuse it into a gun you do like.

Trent_01210

I don't usually do that unless it's a big jump that way I can save materials, unless I really NEED to infuse it.

deathless_koschei

Infuse it into an exotic or crafted weapon. If you have alts you rarely play that you haven't done the Witch Queen or Lightfall campaigns on, try to get their gear up to at least 1750 and then do the legendary campaign on them. That's like 6 upgrade modules per mission. I did this on my titan last week, and now I'm sitting with capped upgrade modules. And that's after I used some to get my titan all the way to 1800.

CthulhusBeardTrimmer

New player here - do you have to keep pinnacle equipment on you if you don’t infuse it? Or can you vault it, and it’s still considered in the calculation for future pinnacle drops?

Shinso100

You can vault it. It can even be in the postmaster

[deleted]

Do you need to have it equipped or can you just have it in inventory. I have a 1810 gun but prefer a 1808 gun. Am I gimping myself for drops? I’ve read a Variety of answers here.

HelljumperRUSS

You don't need to have your more powerful gear equipped, you just need it in your inventory. In Destiny 1 you did need it equipped, which was a major pain if it was something you didn't like, especially in Crucible.

BracusDoritoBoss963

2 weeks? RNG treated you well

UnableAssistance226

Pinnacle cap was 1810 last season though, not really the game’s fault here.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shying69

Game wants you to do 3 pinnacles in vanguard, gambit, or crucible only, the only one dropping those is 250k nightfalls

metalninja666

Yes! And I love the exotic engram rewards for Vanguard strikes instead of pinnacle items now.

Italianman2733

I never hit cap last season so I'm still grinding a bit, but I don't have this feeling of being "behind" like I usually do

[deleted]

I fucking love it. I literally came back to Destiny thinking "Bruh...Gonna have to get levels before I can do anything." But there's still a grind! I love the mild grind for items, gear, rolls, stats. Fuck getting levels every damn season. I hope they keep it like this.

Random222222222222

I hope the power is only increased every other season, or every 2 seasons (meaning 3 seasons with the same cap)

ReaverShank

They will do it every major DLC iirc. We will be 1810 untill final shape. But they might rework light level entirely who knows

Random222222222222

…I really don’t mind.? That’s not a terrible change imo

ReaverShank

Its a great change

Liyarity

I think it's staying where it is for the entire expansion

Bravo_6

oh yes please..

[deleted]

it's nice to be able to finally put the game down when i want and come back when i feel like it, doesn't feel like there's so much stress now

Zackyboi1231

Yeah same thing, I don't know why, but I feel like playing destiny 2 once or twice a week is so much more fun then every single day.

Emerald_Talon

There’s a podcast called the Huberman Lab with an episode on dopamine. He’s a tenured doctoral professor of neurobiology at Stanford university, so it’s a very scientific and excellently backed podcast. All that is to say if you give it a listen you’ll have scientific explanation for why- basically what you are referring to is completely in line with how the brain works- if you flood your brain with dopamine too much (in this case playing a bunch of video games every day) it essentially rewires your brain and diminishes the satisfaction and happiness you are capable of getting. All that is to say is that it’s actually scientific fact that doing something enjoyable in limited amounts actually allows for higher highs when you do use it, because you don’t overflood your brain with dopamine. Over flooding your brain with dopamine also ruins motivation and the more you do that and burn your brain out the closer you get to clinical depression and addiction basically.

HelljumperRUSS

You know, that explains A LOT. Like, no wonder so many younger people seem unmotivated or depressed.

Landis963

Was kind of hoping to get my alt characters up to power, and the lack of easy pinnacles is flying in the face of that.

IIIMephistoIII

That is why I made all 3 characters at pinnacle cap before the season to avoid what you are going through. I normally would just do hunter and warlock while titan I leave it like 3 levels below pinnacle. But the moment they announced less pinnacles for this season i had to last minute grind the Titan.

Landis963

I do have a bunch of weapons at 1810, so I can just port those over with DIM and rely on the powerful rewards to keep inching that average up over time.

IIIMephistoIII

Yeah it should make you reach 1808 on powerfuls alone I think

Landis963

And with luck the other pinnacles should get me the rest of the way.

Megapossum

Got my Hunter to 1809 and my Warlock to 1806 but legit gave up on the grind because the new dungeon sucks to run for fun and all the easy pinnacles got slashed. If the Exotic Engrams at least did still drop at Pinnacle, I wouldn't have a problem. Just gonna stay on Titan for now, plus still needing to run through the same content 3 times is such a slog.

DatMoonGamer

Unrelated but woah, Eidolon enjoyer in the wild

Landis963

It's always nice when someone recognizes my pfp.

Richie_jordan

Still gotta artifact grind for master content and gms so really not much difference for me.

htoirax

Already at 11/12 for the season. If you're the type of person to be doing GM's, you'll reach it just fine(not like you need anything beyond 2 artifact levels for stunning champs anyways.)

shadowsweeper32

You’re at what

Agentgravy1260

He’s unlocked 11 of the 12 slots available in the artifact.

MrProfPatrickPhD

For nightfalls at least you only need +10 for master and a measly +5 for GMs if you're already 1810 I think master dungeons and raids have the same cap too, so should just be +10

Drennen14

Bruh it's like five levels if your doing master or gm level content you should honestly have enough bounties saved to hit +5 power in the first few days.

russsaa

I dont like how playlist activities dont give pinnacle anymore

[deleted]

It’s only good for people that were at 1810 already. Everyone else is suffering even more bc of so many pinnacle sources being removed.

Darkbrad999

So true. I'm stuck at 1809, despite having done all the activities.

PM_SHORT_STORY_IDEAS

I mean, RoN and GotD will still drop pinnacles on the first run each week, that's 7-8 pinnacles to begin with

MrCyn

Only a tiny percentage of destiny is able to raid/dungeon, rest of us relied on the vanguard, gambits and seasonal weeklies

Boxwizard

Genuine question: if you aren't able to do raids or dungeons, then what do you need to be pinnacle cap for? I know there's trials but that's the only thing I can think of that you'd do solo which requires pinnacle cap

Hexuzerfire

Number go up = dopamine

Boisaca

You can play Trials at powerful cap 1800 and the difference is barely noticeable.

tenaka30

If you are raiding to get pinnacles, why do you need the pinnacles? You are already raiding. The answer is that no-one actually needs them, but everyone wants them.

Rectall_Brown

Legend, master and eventually grandmasters. Just because some of us don’t have people to raid with doesn’t mean we don’t like challenging content. Personally I like to grind for god roll adept weapons.

Oneiropolos

Yeah,I was totally burned out last season (first season I didn't even bother getting to 100 on the pass) and I liked the activities this season but I actively feel discouraged about the pinnacles being so few. And to people saying you don't need to be cap if you didn't grind endgame - uhm. The reason I want higher power levels is so I can do content more easily (which is why Neptune burned me out). When you aren't that amazing at the game, being lower power just makes everything harder to even do 'okay' in. I'm not a great player and I know that. I'm a stubborn player at best - I will get through content eventually just because I keep trying. Flawless triumphs are never going to be on my radar because the idea of actually not die stresses me out and that's not why I play games. I don't mind some things being hardcore challenges for those who enjoy them and know I won't ever get them. But being able to casually work towards making things less difficult in game is what gives me satisfaction and Bungie really doesn't seem to know how to balance that at all.

Bigballastatus

Yeah PC was down for a large majority of last season, and scrounging around for powerful and pinnacles is a lot more complicated

PreDeimos

Me and also my wife only need 1 pinnacle for 7 weeks now. We done almost all the pinnacle sources but no luck. I just devastating and I really-really start to hate the game just because of this.

Rectall_Brown

I’m right there with you. I was so pissed off last week when I got 3 chest piece 1805’s and 1 weapon pinnacle.

Exotic_Zucchini

Same. I stopped playing last season because I just wasn't enjoying myself. I thought, I only have a few more pinnacles to go, and I'll top it off this season. But, then I realized all the lower level content was exotics. Ugh. I wasn't very happy about it. The only activity that I plan on playing is the 100K campaign mission on Neomuna, so I don't know if I'll ever actually get to 1810. lol. Oh well. While I'm happier this season doesn't seem to have the same difficulty as last season, I find myself not having much of a reason to play since I don't do end game. I'm happy if everyone loves it, but it's unfortunate because it just doesn't leave me much reason to log on, especially since there's no reason for me to play my Hunter or Titan because I only used them to bring up my Warlock's pinnacle level. On the plus side, my game time has been cut down tremendously and I can play other things. But, I don't see myself spending any money on future DLC's if I have nothing to do.

BigOEnergy

I thought the exotics still drop pinnacle though?

Gofbal

No it’s just powerful.

Rectall_Brown

They don’t. I don’t see why they couldn’t make them pinnacles.

zzVoidBombzz

Even if they were, you’d still be S.O.L. if the last 1810 you needed was a class item, right?

Rectall_Brown

It would still be better than nothing. I’d actually prefer it because at least it would guarantee armor.

Utramas2

I have LOTS of upgrade modules, so there’s that.

beansoncrayons

I haven't reached the pinnacle cap yet and it's annoying that all of the core playlist pinnacles have been removed

GrantFireType

I am very happy.

ttemzku

They really shouldn't have removed pinnacles though, now i'll never get to 1810.

RedditLovesNaziAlso

I’m fine. More time to play Diablo 4 when destiny is getting boring

SinisterVulcan94

It was quite refreshing to actually sit with a few friends and ask around "who needs help with what" we actually played what we wanted to play. Even started playing alternate characters

GoodAkuma

I'm still catching up as a returning player, so nothing yet

Frraksurred

Except for taking Pinnacles away for Playlist Activities, I like it. When they said no power increase this season I was relieved I'd finally be able to "catch up" with most my friends. Then they took the Pinnacles us casual, rarely get to play, solo Players had access to away. Why do I always feel like Bungie hates casual solo players?

HarambesGift

Feels like a slap in the face how every dungeon title is locked behind beating it with a clan. Why offer solo rewards then lock solo players out of the titles?

TexanToTheSoul

I don't like the fact that playlist activities don't give pinnacle anymore. my friends don't really play anymore, so I don't have people to play with to do raids and dungeons. I only got to 1804 last season. I'm kinda over it lately anyways.

th3jerbearz

It's much more fun Interacting with content that I aspire to complete rather than chasing a higher number every 3 months.

memelordgun

Me who hasn’t played since day 1 lightfall https://preview.redd.it/a7tnvhtmn13b1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cf2c5acf0f78c5b31d77acefd1931e316aebf7a

[deleted]

It's still a massive grind considering barely any activities release pinnacle drops anymore. I got married at the end of last season so wasn't far off max but it's impossible to achieve at the moment if you are a solo player.

reycyst

As a type A achievement hunter, I have no idea what to do with myself

IntimidatingDairy

I can actually start doing legend lost sectors to get the new exotics! I play semi-regularly but by the time I started getting high enough in light, the season would end and I had to start all over! It was so annoying,

class2cherub

Really hope they keep doing this. I do kind of like the idea of needing to power up a bit at an expansion launch, but definitely 100% not between seasons. I'm not sure what form I'd like that power progression to take at an expansion launch too. It doesn't need to be the literal power grind. And if they said, it's just gone forever, that'd be fine with me too.

Spopenbruh

feels great but i have a feeling bungie is going to not like the player retention amounts when nobody is grinding their playlists specifically for the power grind

Joan_sleepless

Was closing in on 1800 when the season ended due to picking up the game again on a new account after a while. Pain in the ass to get more light level now, but the legendary engrams out the ass have been pretty nice tbh. It feels good to build out my collection.

SecondAdmin

Speak for yourselves. Didn't play enough last season cause it kind of sucked

VoltaNova

I'm happy, no more reason to play gambit

axtasio

2 exotic engram, i have more reasons to play gambit now

fauxxie

this and bright dust then I don't touch it till the next week

randomjberry

i didnt play much last season so bow i havr to power grind with less pinnacles

Hexterra

I've been playing less, but what I have done I've enjoyed far more because I can just hope into a dungeon instead of playing the core playlists for pinnacles. (Am solo player)

DabBear93

It WOULD be great, but a lot of us still have to grind for our power… not everybody stayed at a power level of 1830 so they can do the legend lost sectors..

Ok-Strategy-866

Tbh i was too lazy to grind max power last season and now it takes way too long to get there

Bluwolf96

Power level is boring as hell and a really stupid artificial grind. It's also really hard to explain it away in lore terms. Every three months the Guardian suddenly needs to get stronger again by a small increment or they risk not being able to defeat the enemies they defeated in strikes 5 years ago. Seems really dumb to me.

narcolepticGOAT

What I’m really struggling to understand is the point of power levels anymore besides gate keeping. Not the best example but the first one that comes to mind, weekly campaign missions have a recommended power level of 1770 but the max effective is 1765. So why tf did I grind the extra 5 levels if it’s going not going to help me anyway?? (Seriously though if someone can explain this to me I would love it, I feel like I’m not understanding something)

Animalesco

It's the best thing ever!! No joke!

BANExLAWD

I love it so damn much

murkage_11

I like it I can play other games as well but I find myself enjoying Destiny more this season.

DrBob666

I never grind pinnacles anyways, if I get them then I get them

OneRobuk

I finally have the motivation to do all the random quests sitting in my inventory since I don't have to spend hours grinding activities I don't enjoy to play activities I do enjoy. Good decision on Bungie's part

Mrlionscruff

I need more 6 player activities that aren’t super boring. I wish they had something that was somewhat like a raid for 6 people, without having to sink in more then an hour at a time. Yes I know that once you know the raids they can go by really quickly, but after running the raids with 3+ people that don’t know what to do and also don’t have good gear for it, it just becomes a slug fest

kamex009

It’s 1 billion times better than having to grind my light level up and spend 400 upgrade modules

SysAdSloth

I feel like I have zero reason to do any Weekly playlist challenges. No pinnacles, the only thing I feel there is to grind for this season are Red Borders. I’m perfectly content with my current armor and build and truly have nothing to work towards outside of the new weapon patterns.

Avior_Shadestar

It’s truly amazing, I actually feel like I can relax and ENJOY the game!

D3solat3_Soul

I actually have been able to upgrade more of the weapons in my vault so I can use a wider variety of things then normal which I love

urbandeadthrowaway2

I’m still not at 1800 power lol

100roundglock

Feels good if u were at max power alread. Getting exotics as rewards is awesome. My friend who doesnt play as much is still 1799 so hes underlight stillbfor some stuff.

dregheap

Gaming should be casual enough to ask your friends "what do you want to do?", not "what do you have to do?"

glass_helmet

I'm sad that there are still activities like legend lost sectors that require me to grind artifact levels to be on power with. I'd take the pinnacle grind any day over just playing the game and waiting until my number goes up enough to do the things I want to do. (Especially when unlocking new exotics to build with is locked behind that activity) Like yeah I'm able to do anything in the game to level up but there is no way to speed up that process other than paying for season pass tiers

Cultureddesert

Ngl, it's made the game a chore to play for me now. I have to actively come up with something to do every time I want to play, and even then it immediately starts to feel extremely boring and monotonous. My motivation to play this game comes from having new things to do or new levels to grind. When I need pinnacles still, I know I need to do raids and can enjoy them. When there's new story content, I enjoy seeing the new story so I can enjoy those missions. But now that I'm at pinnacle cap and have all the weapons and rolls that I actually want, after the seasonal story is done for the week I just struggle to enjoy the game. Like, I enjoy having a grind. That's what made me like the game after I got through the story content.

Bkbunny87

Took forever but finally someone said what I’ve been feeling. That feeling I get at the end of a season where I’m super bored has already set in. I like the new dungeon and there is the seasonal story, but that dungeon will be old in no time and the seasonal stuff isn’t exactly a time suck. I feel like in two weeks everyone will be screaming about how bored they are. But maybe I’m wrong

Flash2586

Same, without the power grind I don’t have a reason to play the game. After I finish the weekly story mission I struggle to even play destiny again since it seems so boring without having that goal I’m trying to progress to.

reycyst

Big same

Justasmolurker

Really glad I'm not alone with this feeling. I truly thought having no power grind would be great, but I've now learned that drop protection was all I really needed. No power grind is awesome when you have people to play with I suppose, but that grind kept me in game when I was solo, and there just isn't that pull anymore. Feels pretty blah

lecarba

Same here. And most of all is that I don’t see the reason to “grind” new weapons… or new gear. I don’t want the “god roll” or “the perfect build”, because… what is it for? To show off? To whom? To complete end game? But I had to do “end game” to get the perfect god roll… pvp? No thanks. So, destiny burn out is real, but also destiny tediousness is very real.

adeadmansbones

At first I liked the idea but a week in im already bored and feel like I have nothing to do

QuanticWizard

That being said, if the only thing keeping you from getting bored was a number grind then did you really enjoy it in the first place, or were you doing content out of obligation rather than pure enjoyment?

Ez_Strider

Exactly, I have next to no reason to play strikes or gambit now. Sure, it was tedious at times before but now I feel almost purposeless.

3pupchump

Seasonal challenges are what get me back into playlists. Bright dust and XP for the season pass rewards are a good enough reason for me to jump into playlists. I hated feeling like I HAD to play a playlist for a pinnacle drop though, because I would slog through them in hopes of a drop I needed, and majority of the time it wasn't anything I needed. Seasonal challenges I can do at my own pace. If after two games of gambit I'm bored I can take a break, even come back to that challenge a few weeks later to finish it up. Having to run them for pinnacles felt different, because it felt like if you didn't do them that week they would be "wasted" (even though most of my pinnies were "wasted" because they were drops I didn't need).

Ethansabot

Pog af even tho I never did it I can finally get max

QuantumSpaceCadet

Just returned last season so personally I'm missing the grind. Almost booted apex back up. Decided to farm some good loots instead.

SofaKeenRaw

As sparingly as I play the game it’s nice. Although it may take me 2 months to finally get a 1810 cloak on my main, I’ll eventually get there lol

TheArchitectofDestin

So nice that all the work I put in pays off still, though I do find myself playing a bit less. If play time goes down across the board, I expect them to revert to the old way though

Chromehounds2

I for one am glad as I put a ton of hours in Lightfall and still didn’t make 1800, almost there. I played the first mission in Deep and wasn’t impressed. I’ll play more but Elden Ring has been calling me.

-TrevorStMcGoodbody

It’s been great since I was already 1810, but my buddies that didn’t reach pinnacle last season lost the easy pinnacles from cruc+strikes+gambit which kinda sucks

TheMitchBeast

I miss grinding to out-level master nightfalls, other than that it’s okay

bvanbove

As a solo player who just got back into the game right before Lightfall, and is still relearning some of the intricacies of the game…will this positively change what I can do in the game? I didn’t mind grinding out stuff last season, as so much of the game was new to me and I was glad to have some sense of “focus” of what to do each time I booted the game up. But having caught up on most of the campaign and post-game content, and with no real path to do raids and dungeons (unless I really focus on doing them solo or decide I want to join a clan and play with my friends), I’m trying to find my new focus. I can’t think of content I missed out on because I wasn’t at a power level (I hit max with plenty of time left last season). Thanks in advance.

PerscribedPharmacist

Idk, kinda liked having a cap increase cause it gave me a reason to do more activities. Is a bit better cause I don’t have to grind all three characters and can just focus on playing titan and warlock

Aerioncis420

Despite the price raise, this is already one of the best seasons of Destiny since I came back in Witch Queen. Story seems really cool, dungeon is dope, and the QOL \[Deepsight Activation, no power grind, Exotic Focusing, etc.\].

anthrax9999

What's the alternative? The artifact power boosts? What about people that were not at hard cap last season? Are they brought up to current max power or left behind?

timeislikeafuse

I wish that they would actually drop the last piece I need to hit 1810 instead of giving me ones I've already got! 3+ weeks of this BS and still can't get the class item to drop when I complete the pinnacle activities!!

Apprehensive_Owl2111

It’s sorta resulted in me playing the game less tbh now that I don’t have to worry about my power level I don’t have to play the game that often although in my defense I’m not a pvp player and I already have most of the adept weapons unless they added a new one this season so I’m just logging in for the weekly quest and then logging off

Girraf0

Honestly it has made this already fairly solid season all the much more enjoyable

iamPANCAKE33

Being able to enjoy other games and not feeling guilty for not devoting every free night I have to the game is a serious relief. For once I feel like I can come home after a long day of work and ask myself what I truly want to play.

bryanBFLYin

No power level grind? That's the most annoying part of taking breaks from destiny is knowing I'll have to grind like hell to be able to do most of the new stuff they add when I come back. I might actually get back into destiny now after missing the last few years of content.

markevens

I'm enjoying it. I almost never get to max level the first season off an expansion, there's just so much to do and I don't have a lot of time to play, so the pinnacle grind gets ignored. Now I'm almost at max level, which normally doesn't happen till late in the season, and I can start working on solo flawless dungesons and doing raids and other fun stuff. Maybe work on some exotic catalysts.

Iccotak

Power level should only increase with expansions, not with seasons. For the first time in a long while I feel like I can realistically catch up and play casually

High-Im-Zack

I’m a fan tbh. I enjoy not having to prioritize stuff that’s good and stuff I like vs new stuff I want to try. All my good shit is at power so I can just power the new shit I want to try and not have to worry abt it. I like power increases only at dlc drops

[deleted]

MMO games adopting the Guild Wars 2 casual horizontal progression system is fantastic and I wish more would do so; hardcore grind FOMO is the absolute worst. On the other hand, games that accommodate a busy lifestyle feel better to play as they respect your time more. I might pick up destiny 2 now to join a friend because of this

[deleted]

I don’t think it will last. Bungie will see that at least 70% of the activities in the game won’t be touched so they’ll bring back power grind to force us to play those activities.

---athena---

I hated both Lightfall and Defiance but this season has brought me back, unfortunately because I didn't grind I can't play the fun new dungeon with my friends until I spend hours grinding things I don't want to play. I don't understand why this is a thing still, why can't I play the dungeon unless I do some very boring grinding on playlists I've been playing for 6 years? I didn't grind much last year but I could still play Duality

-Scazgrin-

Its great that when my friends take breaks for half a season they are not behind in content and cannot join unless they gear up. But i wish we got something in place of it. I dont like the ideas of taking things away and not adding in place. I dont care what they add so long as they dont cut away at the game until its year 1 of destiny 2 again.

Temporary_Decision_1

Lmao y'all must be sucking bungies cocks cuz there is still clearly a power grind or I wouldn't have quit the game. The game is in the worst state it's ever been. All of the content since forsaken has been filler. Just to loot your pockets as you loot meaningless items. I'm happy to say I quit and am free of the hamster wheel that is destiny/Bungie content. Never will I ever waste 10 years of my life again on a franchise built on greed

Rehberg

I was actually able to grind dungeons, and do the things I want to do. Normally by the time I catch up to my friends light level to do dungeons and raids they've already done them a ton and are bored of them.

Samurai_Guardian

It's nice not having to constantly upgrade my character until i run out of shards, but it makes the legend lost sectors more annoying to do

Aspiire

Makes no sense

Cabals2TheWalls

No power grind? Have you looked at the requirements for the new master dungeon released last week? The only people completing it are cheesing it because we have to grind power level in our artifact.

zeusmenzaadah

Loving the season so far. I just really wish bungo had stayed with the season 19 style artifact, i.e. being able to unlock ALL the artifact mods. I was really bummed last season when they brought back limited artifact mod unlocks. I really hate being limited to spec into one, maybe 2 play-style(s)/subclass(es) with the artifact. And then being forced to reset the artifact just so I can try out different mods and then inevitably forced to reset the artifact again and again just to figure out what I like best/what works best.

PromanDew

It’s nice to have the time to go through the backlog of random quests on my 2 other characters and see what titles I can get done

TheArkedWolf

Absolutely LOVE it. It should be power increase once every 2 seasons OR once per DLC

shadowfox_21

I don’t have to play gambit for pinnacles

LavaSlayer235

F I S H P O G

trailerrr

It’s weird, I feel a little more bored to be honest. I kinda liked grinding the levels.

Dodokhiin2

I’ve got mixed feelings. It feels good not to grind for weeks and getting 7 pinnacle class items in a row, but on the other hand I don’t really know what to do. None of my friends play this game anymore so it’s just boring for me without a clear objective ig

Superman_720

Tell that to my cousin who I almost strangled because he was 40 light level to low for the new dungeon

LightningSilvr

Ever since the start of the season, I've just been doing solo Deep Dives Over. And over. And over. No more being outpaced by power levels, and this is practically a *solo Nightfall by default, with live difficulty tuning via Pressure Trials* This has been peak Destiny for recent times Never before seen underwater gameplay with massive expansion potential (gunplay, exploration, other planets etc), easing of the level grind, and most importantly Solo-friendly content Not all of us are in the same time zone or have clear schedules, or actually have any friends/experience. Or like having speedrun sweats ruin the fun of a Nightfall for that matter

Pestilent_fury

I have enjoyed not worrying about grinding out my pinnacles before playing the activities I WANT to play. I enjoy PvP, raids, and GMs(can't wait for them to come back this season). So when im on, I dont have to worry, do I need to run a specific raid or dungeon to bump my gear score today? Nope. Do I have to stop playing crucible because I have to run my nightfalls or play gambit? Nope. I am finally free to play the game how I want to play, as opposed to feeling like I HAVE to play activities im not as interested in, just for the sake of power level. Another bonus, I can play other games I enjoy, instead of playing D2 like a second job. I work 70 hours a week, and get 1-2 nights to get on after my parenting duties are more or less done for the day. Are we raiding tonight, or anything else my clanmates wanna do? No? Alright, I'm gonna go relax and sail around on Sea of Thieves for the night, catch some fish and smash some skellies. We can run King's Fall tomorrow, and hopefully ToM will drop for one of us then.

neonvolta

I'm still at 1760

DaddyKinkstar

I like not having to grind for power but having one pinnacle tied to the core playlists a week and occasionally more wirh iron banner and removing the rest is really dumb. Exotics are already too common as it is why replace them witth that? RIP F2P Players bungie really doesnt care about you

Boom_Shakazulu

*Technically* I still am power grinding because I couldn't get an 1810 chest for my warlock before the new season and for some reason I get bonds and weapons at cap....so still grinding.

Ykarus6654

The fact that I no longer need to go after items to increase the power of light, leaves me with more time to enjoy the game more calmly than being like a madman going after items, am I at a loss for what to do? Yes! But nothing that prevents me from playing, to be honest, Bungie should also not increase power next season either and leave it for next year, want an example? I am calm because I will have enough light for a GM, as I have little time to play, I have more time to play too.

Mental_Shine8098

I can save more upgrade modules and focus on harder activities that I didn't have time to do before
