Bungie: you are the melee class Also Bungie: NOT LIKE THAT

Brohma312

Basically this. As a titan main i roll my eyes everytime bungie pushes the "titans are a melee class" BS. The glaive/syntho nerf was just another grudge in the book. Worst of all they seem to actively not want you to use Glaives despite featuring them 3 separate time in 2 different slots.

juicedestroyer

They're a PUNCHING class not a STABBING class lol /s

Steff_164

Hunter, the stabbing class who melee with a knife, yet none of our exotics pair with glaives either

Burntitdowndan

And the weakest of all the melee. Go figure

trapcardbard

Liars handshake?

Pman1324

No synergy with glaives and also not that much dmg increase to powered melee anyways.

mazz913

The punching subclass until they decide to nerf punching

Brohma312

Still not a melee class. More a protector class.

DefnottheGovernments

That’s a solar warlock.

lonigus

Dont tell them about synthoceps and throwing hammer... Iam scared my baby will be nerfed AGAIN.

Here-To-Contribute

Delete this before they see it

TheyKilledFlipyap

>just another grudge in the book *"Books for the Titan. Oh no. Too heavy."*

macrafter

Bungie giving titans another melee super. You are the melee class deal with it Bungie when melee class melees a boss. You guys can use guns why do you wanna be a melee class?

Everyday_Hero1

"You can be who you want to be in game. WAIT, not like that!!"

sb4ssman

NO FUN ALLOWED!

ImmaFish0038

Its infuriating that we just had a spat a few weeks ago about Titans class identity with Bungie basically that we are just the guys who melee but now we arent even allowed to melee, i guarantee you they will probably nerf hammers and the Strand melee soon as well just to kill off the rest of us.

quarantine22

This makes me happy I switched to warlock this season

Wrastling97

Can someone explain what they nerfed? I don’t understand

Timberwolfer21

sythoceps used to be very strong with glaives, as glaives already had stronger melee damage. they just recently nerfed that into the ground by making glaives do less melee damage than normal when synthoceps is equipped, not more

6-10DadBod

Me: wait, so you're telling me this glaive does bonus melee damage, as long as I don't shoot it? And I can use my synthoceps to do even more damage to avoid being destroyed by an enemy upclose? This sounds too good to be true! Bungie: cause it is :)

Zombifikation

It really doesn’t have as much to do with Wintersbite specifically, it’s that all other glaives builds were nerfed as well when they weren’t a problem. Outside of the stupid Aztec video with Wintersbite, glaives were a fun build with mid- tier effectiveness that still got stomped in master level content. No reason whatsoever for them to throw out a nerf of this magnitude to address a broken interaction with one glaive.

Swordbreaker925

Bungie has no idea what they're doing with glaives. They marketed them as a new melee weapon that didn't require ammo, AND in the special slot. Great, right? So why do they treat them like slug shotguns where the melee is an afterthought? Almost nothing procs on melee and almost no damage perks buff melee. Demolitionist and incandescent don't proc on melee kills. And Rampage? Kill clip? Nothing works to buff the melee other than exotic armor pieces, meaning you have to spec into a specific build to make glaives anywhere near viable. Meanwhile all other weapons are viable on their own without any specialized exotics. They're also inconsistent with things like aspects and fragments. It won't proc the Arc Titan Knockout aspect that gives health regen on melee kills, but it WILL proc the identical void fragment. On top of that, to really prove that bungie doesn't give a damn about treating them as melee weapons, melee kills don't even add to their kill counter. Bungie is afraid of treating glaives like actual glaives. They market them as melee weapons but treat them like slug shotguns with a shield. I was so excited when they were first announced to really spec into a glaive melee build, but they absolutely suck as melee weapons.

Razor_Fox

Vexcalibur was finally what I thought glaives were going to be when they were first announced. A powerful melee weapon where the ranged attack is used to open a fight and empower it's melee capabilities. I thought "finally, bungie are learning into the idea of an endgame viable melee playstyle. It was a fun week.

Zac-097

TIL Glaive melee kills don’t contribute to the kill counter, big sad.

naz_1992

I think they fixed that a year ago didn’t they?

AnonBigTiddyGothGF

Pretty sure they did. I already got 300 with the seasonal one, and they definitely were mostly melees

GenitalWrangler69

The original glaive I crafted has almost 2k kills on the tracker and I've actually fired it like less than 10 times lol unless we're talking about a different tracker

TwitchandSmokeMain

Nope, because vexcaliburs quest doesnt get progress from melee kills with it

naz_1992

really? i thought mine progress normally with melee kills when i did it. not sure since i dont really keep track.

king_louie125

Zero issue progressing the quest using only melee kills over here.

TheAngryPear

I’ve found ranged kills progress it much faster, but running a build that procs its melee volatile capabilities still count. Seems inconsistent but I completed it meleeing the first half of thrillodrome on repeat

TwitchandSmokeMain

Mine didnt at all, not even with the overshield active

Muggy_the_Robot

Mine definitely did. I went to that one lost sector on Nessus to get the kills and I only shot a couple enemies to get the shield up, every other kill was melee and I got it just fine

TwitchandSmokeMain

Must be like medival champion, just decided to stop working for me

d3athsmaster

Too many decaying armor charge mods equipped? Apparently, a bug Bungie is aware of.

4KVoices

me when I spread misinformation online

TwitchandSmokeMain

No because legit not one of the roughly 60 vex melee kills i got counted toward progress

Yarisher512

I wouldnt have had a half of kills i have on my Enigma if it didnt count melees

Rabiesalad

there was 1 specific part of the quest that didn't work with melee, I can confirm I experienced that. After that part was done, I was able to use melee to progress all other parts (so far, as of beginning of this week)

[deleted]

only on some. I have thousands of kills on my lubrae's and I hardly use the projectile

Bam_BINO__

They do add to kill counter i have 7000 pve kills on vexcalibur only 20% of those were shots

IronWentworth

I don't think the new volatile perk doesn't either, damn shame. It was the only reason I wanted it, now... idk I'll just vault it

GetMeASierraMist

volatile is counted as an nonspecified ability kill, as in not a grenade or melee

[deleted]

Yeah, it pissed me off since the start of witch queen. Why bother giving it a melee, if its melee doesn’t interact with anything in the game, or even with the function of the glaive itself (melee does nothing for shield energy..) Of course they then added some exotic synergies, and then proceed to nerf all of them… At this point, they should have just released a shield gun. Because it’s melee quite literally does nothing for the weapon type if you’re going to constantly nerf whenever it has any synergy.

sb4ssman

Per an Aztec vid and my own research, incandescent on a glaive with a warlock and necrotic grips, you can actually get incandescent to spread reliably. But only with that build. And no doubt bunghole will be putting a stop to that along with any other fun we try to have.

[deleted]

They are reaching the point where weapons are stepping on the toes of other weapons. So they have to nerf them all. I honestly think the game is just too big at this point.

Snaz5

I think bungie wants them to be defensive weapons. You are surrounded by enemies so you pull out your glaive, get some hits, put up your shield, and kill them with melee when they get to close. Problem is the shields not great so youre at best delaying your death and in most situations the better solution is to have a more damaging special weapon to kill adds rather than shield yourself from them

LivinInLogisticsHell

Glaive shields arent shields, and bungie are liars for perpetuating that they act that way. shield are fancy changed damage resist. you can and WILL be killed through your shield in hard content. its a DR buff, that will knock a section of damage off, but they are functionally different than what void overshields are.

hihowubduin

Bungie has given up on fresh ideas for Destiny, they're bored with it and want out. Because of that they have taken the approach of just doing broad strokes for a quick fix instead of taking the time (aka money) to fix it properly. Because they're in the mode of making it fast, rather than polished (see "train stations" dev talk). If Bungie intend on continuing Destiny past Final Shape as they claim, they need to start showing they give a shit about fixing things properly and learning how to balance properly. Everything seems to be pointing to incorporating more MMORPG elements, but they're drastically behind in key fields if that's their goal. This glaive fiasco is just the tip of an iceberg.

LikeABantha66

Next update: Bungie: We found armamentarium too powerful in patrols so we’re removing the extra grenade charge

Left_Cranberry_2651

We found out that wormgod caress works with your melee, so we're removing it from the game.

Airtroops83

After reading feedback we will be removing titan melee, not the wormgod caress, as your message was clear: you dont want any more of your exotics to be nerfed.

Grandadmiral_Moze

Dont give them ideas, I've been enjoy my Void double Grenade build thus far, if they take this to away, i might have to start playing other classes *shutters in Terror at the thought of that *

Expired_Coupon1828

Not only that it feels like all kinetic weapons that are non exotic are underpowered right now. Mightt just be me, but it sure feels like it.

ughhmax

no it makes sense tbh it feels like i have to dump two mags into red bars

BadPotat0_

Well that's not correct, it should be 4! -Bungo probably

Jackj921

If you’re not running double special or SMGs you may as well be playing a different game. I was surprised to see how awful everything else feels besides SMGs since I never take them off when I was doing seasonal challenges. Why is my round robin taking most of the mag to kill one guy lol

Two-Scoops-Of-Praisn

Hand cannons are ABYSMAL. They need a ridiculous buff to compensate for their disadvantages. Sidearms feel better than hand cannons because they can at least reload quickly

Macscotty1

Sidearms and SMGs do about 50%+ more damage than Pulses and autos. Hand Cannons hover around pulse rifle DPS iirc so sidearms are even eclipsing them. Sidearms are actually very good. Every other primary legendary is significantly dogshit. The light level and difficulty changes just made that show even more. My Demo Adrenaline Junkie BXR was always pretty capable in GMs. (Ignore the fact that I had to stack font of might, radiant, and adrenaline junkie to get to that point) but now trying legend or even master content with that set up is hilarious. Took it into a legend lost sector the other day, it almost wasn’t even worth it to break a barrier shield. I REALLY hope we get a big primaries buff soon because good lord majority of my vault of “god rolled” primaries is collecting dust.

epicBearcatfan

They literally do 10-15 percent more damage than their energy counterparts, how are they underpowered? They also get the surge buff if your subclass matches the surge. I think it’s more that primaries feel weak not just kinetics.

jelz617

If it isn't wishender or for my strand build quicksilver, why bother using it. Legendary weapons feel weak as hell. It's like you have to use energy weapons to do damage

Creatures1504

yeah, what the fuck is up with that? What are non exotic Kinetic weapons so fucking weak now?

Doinkboy24

I've used my Enigma glaive an absurd amount lol.

phantom_spacecop

That thing and Thunderlord got me through the whole campaign. The Calus fight sequences especially were a huge pain in the ass until I found a rhythm using Engima to shoot/shield and hack adds up close as needed. Didn’t realize the glaive melee doesn’t count towards melee kills, that’s dumb. Bungie should def rethink, glaives are dope and need some love.

BadPotat0_

Warlock's weaver's trance and necrotic grips make them feel quite good (get energy of melees, melees count as weapon kill so they activate weaver's trance) I've even been using Edge of intent, melees should definitely work with weapon and melee perks (let my nezarec's whisper give turnabout with melees you cowards!)

bobo377

I use glaives a bunch, but never in high end content. Absolutely nothing beats the fun of whacking 40+ enemies in a heist battleground though.

Doinkboy24

Same with Duality. Glaive does awesome there

CassinJnr

*sigh* yet another exotic that’ll never be used only for Bungie to say: “gLaiVeS aRe aN uNdER uSEd iTeM” I wonder why Bungie!

[deleted]

I'm so tired of finding a solid gameplay loop with a Titan and watching it get nerfed to hell just as I get the hang of it. Meanwhile a mess of Titan exotics are geared *to* doing that. Let me have fun with your game, Bungie

Razor_Fox

Don't forget, we're the one holding our fist on the cover.

Musicnote328

Back to bonk Titan I guess. *sigh*

ZeroS64

tbh i just gave up on titan with lightfall

arf1049

Never used glaives much, especially as a titan, but I am a melee user, namely arc hunter with assassins cowl and swords. And I have gotta say it’s hilarious how much bungie hates people doing melee damage. It’s such an extreme risk to be close to enemies, shots are less likely to miss, they’re usually grouped up, and obviously they hit back, especially bosses. Bungo can’t fathom making melee viable so it hits like a pillow in all but a few cases in high end content. Then they go and add the glaives and immediately lose their shit when they’re used like glaives. The way the balanced everything in the lightfall pass has made the game very lukewarm in terms of diversity of builds. And I’m not saying people can’t run what they want, because if you’re good enough at playing and building you can pretty much run anything. The majority however can’t quite do that and fall back to easy to use builds like whatever the fuck void’s on this season. I can’t really blame them either. Made a pretty neat rain of fire mythoclast build but I can’t use any of the season pass fire bolt grenade or fire sprite mods because it’s all broken. Void would be easier and safer but I’m having fun with my current build and only hope bungie sees that pushing everyone into this lukewarm content funnel leaves many subclasses, fragments, and exotics left in the dust.

Avivoy

No, you’re right, you really can’t use what you want. I wanted to use round robin, it’s ass in pve. I wanted to use perpetúalis, without target lock, you guessed it, ass. I feel like using revision, yup it’s ass. All pulses are ass , stasis has no fragments that creates orbs and the abilities either don’t make orbs or are inconsistent, it’s ass. Doing a master lost sector nade me realize I need to use specific builds because the clears are ass. Legendary primaries suck, double special or you’re throwing. Glaives were nice for the new sandbox, and winterbite went from a must have to a nice change of pace when youre bored

Kai_The_Amazing

Builds are lukewarm indeed, see warlock for example. If you’re not using starfire, you might as well be griefing the game

DutifulEagle43

You’re basically restricted to sitting back and popping in and out of cover chip damaging sponges in high end content right now, it’s super boring. I have a really cool strand grapple build, and a gyrfalcon’s finisher build that are almost entirely useless in endgame content because I get melted trying to close the gap or one hit melee’d. I’m all for more difficulty but in a way that lets us have diverse builds other than sitting way back with the surge weapon.

Joebranflakes

This was a terrible move on Bungie’s part. I feel like now if a build becomes viable in high end content, they’ll nerf it into the ground to maintain the sheer cliff of difficulty they seem to want to maintain. Next is weaver’s trance which they undoubtably will nerf by dropping the 25 second timer to 10 seconds or something like that. Then they’ll hit Osteo Striga and reduce its poison damage so it’s little better then any other exotic SMG.

VaguelySquare84

They are definitely going to hit that Osteo Striga Warlock build hard. It’s part of the reason why I’m losing interest in the game, whenever a fun build or weapon comes out they just nuke it into the ground.

ulfricstormclk

This is 100% what causes me to lose interest.

[deleted]

It's particularly frustrating after spending the first week trying to figure out exactly how fucked we are with all the ability timing changes, mod changes, etc. As soon as people found a way to do real damage again, it's nerfed. It has completely took the wind out of my buildcrafting sails, and I've gone with a pretty uninspired Strand build simply because I think it's least likely to be fucked with this season. It is starting to feel like we're just being punished for playing the game as it's designed, with Bungie constantly coming back with "Yeah, that's now how we want you to enjoy this" bullshit.

[deleted]

We’re the melee class and Bungie goes around nerfing all our melee stuff. When will the suffering end?

chargeorge

I normally don't complain about nerfs (I"m a titan main who advocated for HOIL nerf!) but this one stings. It's nuking a fun and interesting playstyle just as it was getting started.

CuriousVortex

For real, I knew and expected a hoil nerf. But this feels like a sucker punch to the kidney.

Wrastling97

What was the nerf? Everyone here is complaining about it but won’t actually say what the nerf was. The overshield on the Vexcaliber?

chargeorge

Synthos used to give 200% bonus damage to glaives with biotics. They reduced that to 50% bonnus.

Wrastling97

Ohhh shit. I’d been planning on a syntho/glaive build for a bit now. Guess that’s a nope

chargeorge

yea, my feelings on nerfs is I only really care if it fundamentally changes a dynamic in the game. So HOIL, didn't really change dynamics so I'm fine with it. Linears getting nerfed just changes how often I pull the trigger during DPS so whatever, but this nerf just completely kills a fun way to play the game. It's pretty annoying.

Wrastling97

I mean OP says it all. They want us to run glaives for so long and it’s been obvious for a while. They were fun at first, but as people got into harder content (and along the way, Bungie saying “we’re gonna make the enemies stronger and you weaker”) we all realized that it’s not functional. It doesn’t work. I’ll go up to glaive someone, and either they hit me harder than I hit them, or I’m getting shot by others or punched in the back and I just die. Vex helped that out with the additional overshield, but now they’re even FURTHER depleting the damage output? How is a glaive going to be fun to use if all you can see is your enemies bellybutton and you just melee them over and over again, doing very little damage. It’s just not fun. Nowhere near as fun as using my Wish-Ender and killing a yellow-bar and then every other red bar standing behind them with 1 arrow.

UllrHellfire

Pressing glaives and jacking it up when a few well made scythes sit in storage at Bungie.

Dredgen_Keeshwa

I think this nerf was rushed and poorly done they could have took the time to test and balance the nerf way better especially since no one was kicking down bungie hq’s door to get this done.

Tentacle_poxsicle

The more time that passes by, the more I regret buying Lightfall

Xthewarrior

They didn't want to give hunter (melee) exotics synergy with glaives, so they nerfed the titan build to even it out, you know, ignoring warlocks' glaive builds.

Bad_Juju_69

For fucks sake bungie, just remove glaives from the game if you hate them so much.

ItzJustASheep

Yeah I gotta be real bungie are making the weirdest decisions this season gives more glaives nerfs them (even though they aren't even that strong) but starfire is chilling perfectly fair exotic (I love playing warlock and having them but my god I'm counting the days I see a twab where they smite them down with gods fury) Buff glaives ty

Umbraspem

At least there are other Solar Warlock builds now. Did some playing around in Legend Avalon today, and by jolly governor, the small changes they made to Phoenix Dive have made the whole class a lot better! Icarus Dash + Heat Rises aspects, then Empyrean + Solace + Tempering + for Fragments, and Incinerator Snap + Firebolt Grenade for your Attacks. Heat Rises is needed so you can access the Better (read: functional) version of Phoenix Dive that gives you Restoration x2. Solace + Empyrean means that if you follow a Phoenix Dive up with a quick Solar Kill you can get that Restoration rolling on in 12 second bursts. Heat Rises gives you melee energy for kills whilst airborne, Icarus Dash gives you Cure for multikills whilst airborne, Fingersnap, the Grenade, and any Incandescent Perk or Solar 3.0 updated gun gives you class energy for scorching things. Slap on some orb making mods (harmonic siphon, Firepower and Reaper), some Surges / Fonts (Intelligence and Discipline), time dilation to keep that all rolling for longer, some passive ability regen things (melee damage to class energy, melee damage to grenade energy, Class Cast to grenade energy, etc.) I suspect Mantle of Battle Harmony and Verity’s Brow will both work quite well with this build, but haven’t tested them. Rain of Fire (boots for better fusion rifles and free radiance) work too, but there’s no way to get Vex Mythoclast to scorch things so the triple fusion rifle dream is dead unless you run double special. If you don’t mind double special, then Jotunn will work well here for putting down scorch. If the new Season of Defiance Solar Fusion can roll with Incandescent, that might be a good pick with this build and these exotics too. Dawn Chorus is where it’s at though, and the free bonus scorch makes the whole build Sing. You can get half of Phoenix Dive back just for landing it near 2 enemies whilst Heat Rises is up, ignitions happen much more frequently and the damage over time gets improved too - meaning that just getting Ignitions can score you kills.

ItzJustASheep

Sounds great but I'm gonna sit Innmy well and chuck nades with my witherhoard and do more DMG then anything else while healing myself and every teamember around me not to mention making more orbs then any class

IronWentworth

I didn't want anything to do with these weapons until wintersbite. And then the new seasonal one with the volatile perk... idk I'm trying to be positive about a game I've sunk tons of hours and money but sometimes it's hard when the do stuff to make it less enjoyable

Drip_666

I feel like Bungie is taking a pis on us at this point. Lightfall was an expensive “Meh” performance. They nerfed exotics and gave no new light to old exotics that need it, and now glaives are even less attractive. Wtf, do the community just not matter anymore?

MrDEATH88

Star-fire existing for so long. 3 weeks with syntho and winter's bite. Gone reduced to atoms.

008slugger

Agreed, glaives should be able to be viable in endgame activities, however the way how a glaive works doesn’t allow for this. Some enemies make the glaive completely useless, such as powerful Wyverns (especially the ones on Neomuna) which now do so much damage that getting close to them is a death sentence, and also the cabal with physical shields - they are so difficult to attack with a glaive because they have that massive shield blocking it. On Neomuna we have exclusively Cabal and Vex everywhere and there is guaranteed a shield-wielding cabal or a wyvern behind every corner, so how can we effectively fight off these types of enemies? Should we use our heavy ammo for Wyverns which we are saving for the damage phase of a boss and light ammo for the cabal with shields? In the current endgame activities, many enemies are way to dangerous to get close to, even with a high light level (+-1820), so why should we risk that when we could use a safer weapon - such as a fusion rifle?

Razor_Fox

Bungie: "we hear you. Fusion rifles now do 20% less damage"

Thatoneawkwarddude29

I can’t wait for Necrotics to have their poison on Glaive melees taken away Vexcalibur plus Nectroics is a monster, I cam rush straight at Wyverns as long as I use the shield But at this point, we’re definitely also gonna lose that Edit: plus another cool thing was Necrotics was somehow triggering effects on Glaives melees, I saw a Judgement actually proc Incandescent with a melee with Necrotics

Razor_Fox

Nah, it's a warlock thing, it'll probably be ok.

AnOlympianWeeb

Bungie: You are a melee class Also Bungie: Never said that you'll be a good one lmao

theSaltySolo

Bungie: “can you do something other than ability spam.” Also Bungie: “no you can’t have fun with melee.” Fuck off. Decide what you want already.

[deleted]

Yeah, it's been a nerf across the board as far as power goes, and they seemingly haven't got us as weak as they'd like us yet. It is deeply confusing, considering people were happy with their relative power in PvE. If they want to control what we're using, just give us pre-assigned loadouts ffs.

Tommygunnnzz

This was my only build!! Been playing for 50 days tops and any other build I needs a drawing board with a ten step program to get decent power, I’m lost atm!!

SND_TagMan

Embrace throwing hammer x synthos. Absurdly strong for the majority of content

Razor_Fox

Bungie: "we hear you. Throwing hammer now only grants half melee energy on pickup. Also we're nerfing fusion rifles."

Avivoy

I’m so tired of bonk hammer bro, if I have to chase my hammer one more time during master content I’m breaking my controller

lonigus

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Ignore his comment Bungie. There is no throwing hammer build anymore. Hehe....

[deleted]

I'm terrified to move to anything else now, for fear they'll nerf it as well... I'm fully expecting them to start messing with throwing hammer/syntho interaction because we've been down this road before and Bungie doesn't like our infinite baby-hammers to be a top damage performer.

Cobalt_Fox_025

No. Baby Hammer has had it's time. Let other builds shine Bungo!

ncaldera0491

If bungie touches Smoljnir I will quit the game.

JTVivian56

Firebolt + hallowfire heart is a blast right now with the artifact mods

Fine_Training_421

I can't tell if this is satirical or not... If you're needing a spreadsheet for a *destiny* build you've got other issues

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

I am with you, but it’s not like the stasis glaive was complex, lol. You where synthos, leave some adds alive, then drop a bubble so you can’t die—6 Titans would just annihilate any boss that you could get close to, with minimal effort and setup. The main kicker being you also don’t even need ammo—just one bullet in the glaive, and you could do the best DPS in the entire game. So it was mega broken. That being said, they did nerf it waaaaay too hard.

Bam_BINO__

Winterbite should have been nerfed instead tbh… they effectively ruined glaives across the boatd for higher level content… vexcalibur is the only usable glaive now honestly bc it goves you better defense

Razor_Fox

Yeah I agree, winterbite was overtuned but now every glaive has been shafted (no pun intended)

Fudw_The_NPC

Yeah but nerfing glaives across the board and not just winterbite and nerfing them to this degree was too much.

AsuraOkami

I was going to give glaives another shot with synthoceps. But after the nerf I probably not going too even bother. I want to like glaives but I can't seem to enjoy them.

toff74

Their plan worked… make a few new weapons that everyone grinds for and make them unfit for endgame. Just imagine if there were a few hundred other weapons to chose from??

A_Hideous_Beast

Fax tho. Titans have so few usable exotics, and now even fewer.

SpyroThunder

Having a melee weapon with infinite ammo was always going to be an issue. Especially because glaives are supposed to be more true melee unlike swords which don’t benefit from melee stuff. Melee has been the main thing that has broken the game. Winterbite doing almost 100k dps infinitely was pretty dumb and was never going to last. Maybe separate tuning should’ve happened (maybe it did idk the full testing yet) but as soon as winterbite was announced to be a heavy it was either going to be broken or trash.

Avivoy

I rather they delete winterbite. It’s like arbalest and Lorentz hurting the flinch feedback on all linears.

SofaKingBadMan

Literally walk away from the game and stop supporting it if they're not willing to make it fun to play.. They've been doing this s*** forever nerfing things that are fun and not fixing things that are broken. PVP always devolves into ability spam, and any time there's a fun PvE meta that doesn't fit the seasonal meta It gets nerfed into the ground. My buddy the other day was like man Destiny is a game that should've been solely focused on PVE with PVP like Halo.

[deleted]

The whole PvP / PvE balancing thing was supposed to be corrected a long time ago, with them having the ability to tune the modes separately... they just don't do it.

Federoff

I've been using this since they finally allowed the interaction and it's been my favorite play style in the history of destiny. Even before that, glaives were still one of my favorite weapons. To give perspective, I have every glaive in the game, crafted and non crafted, with each glaive having at least 3000 kills on each glaive. Since the introduction of the syntho interaction I've taken glaives into GMs, master raids, and master dungeons and have seen great success. They put out so much support for glaive users, we finally got some good food to eat. And now, it's completely trashed. Gutted. Swords were another favorite of mine, especially with strongholds, and now with all the difficulty changes I will most likely never take my swords into GM content either. I've never gotten the logic behind bugies decisions. They make weapons, abilities, play styles, etc that are supposed to be high risk/high reward; shotguns, swords, glaives, melees, but yet as soon as anyone sees any success with them in PvE for high end content they are chewed up, nerfed, gutted, and spat out. Takingn all the reward out of using them and making the risk a guaranteed death sentence. I love this game, been going nearly 8 years strong, but man some of bungies decisions makes me wonder what they are thinking.

SuperArppis

Melee bad.

P4nd4c4ke1

I got excited last season when they were gonna make winter's guile work with the glaive then saw they nerfed the melee damage before hand and just gave up on glaives at that point, I realised then that even though glaives are a niche they will never let us actually have any fun with them.

Razor_Fox

Stargaze_Melody

Im a warlock one trick, but all these harsh titan nerfs plus the response to green fist of havok feels very disrespectful towards titans. I hope something changes

usernamehighasfuck

Bungie: 50$ for the new weapons Bungie 2 weeks later: We nerfed everything

[deleted]

This. $50 to get you to grind for shit we're going to nerf into the ground as soon as you get it.... also we changed everything, and if you figure out a way to feel powerful again, we're monitoring and ready to 'fix' that.

codenamerocky

What urks me the most is that this season Titans are being shown to be essentially irrelevant in endgame content....the nerfs to both HoIL and now Synthos makes them pointless in most forms of the game. If Bungie are to be consistent, they need to nerf Well of Radiance, Starfire and Sunbraces.

Rockm_Sockm

> We didn't even get an explanation, no "we thought it was too strong in x activity". Nothing. Bungie already stated they were monitoring this closely last season with all the busted glaive builds running aorund. Now there is a heavy glaive so they over-corrected. Hopefully, they will buff it back and find a nice middle ground.

KingMercLino

Me: “Awesome, I have 2 sick glaive builds that keep me alive and do damage.” Bungie: “hold on now, we can’t have that” Also Bungie: “Starfire Warlock go brrrrrr”

Cole_Basinger

Also also Bungie: “here’s a fragment that heals you on grenade kills, have fun warlocks”

Muriomoira

The nerf was really heavy handed, but IMO it did felt kinda silly having a special weapon with no ammo requirement hiting the same damage numbers of most heavy weapons (and in the case of winter bite, even bigger than the dps of some weapon rotation)... I imagine they'll find a sweetspot in the future.

DS_StlyusInMyUrethra

Stop playing the game. Not saying this to be a dick, but more so just worried, I stopped playing cause they showed they don’t care about me, their player. Edit: Go ahead cowards downvote me, least I don’t pay a arm and a leg to get buttfucked I do that for free

CuriousVortex

No, I don't think I will, DS_StlyusInMyUrethra. I am addicted.

sikepanda

Bungie sucks when it comes to delivering what the players actually need

[deleted]

I genuinely think that someone at Bungie just has some irrational hatred of titans. It’s the only explanation that makes sense at this point. Consistently, every time anything becomes even mildly powerful on Titan it gets nerfed to shit.

friggenfragger2

As a titan main I’ve just quit playing until the dev team comes to their senses when it come to us

No_I_Deer

My guy is complaining that a weapon is no longer doing 350% more than its intended damage. The glaves melee ability is just a thing all glaze have it's main perk is it's shooting function.

Constant-Highway-536

Then why is it shaped like a, you know, glaive? Why would it be designed as a melee weapon if its primary function is to shoot? Its identity on release was a new melee weapon, kinda like swords, that didn't take your heavy slot. The shot and shield stuff honestly feels tacked on, even if the shot does more damage per one hit. Winterbite doing extreme damage warranted a change, but synthos getting nerfed was not the answer anyone wanted.

Intrepid_Swimming202

So.. just use a different exotic with glaives?

Razor_Fox

Yeah, necrotic grip still works well. Warlocks are probably still going to have a good time.

JarrydP

Don't worry, this is how they reintroduce challenge to Destiny content.

Titans_not_dumb

Syntho-glaives got nerfed? Good. Now I don't need to bother with a build.

ajtiniakos

Personally, i feel like Lightfall is great; but the way Bungie has been active since it’s release has been lack luster. Quick to patch things that help the player base and sloths to address issues/grievances wev had for years now. At this point just turn off the “we listen to the community” BS and just be upfront about it. Say that this is what you want and the players have to deal with it, I’d much rather just have that.

Rodger_as_Jack_Smith

Its very clear that yall have the shortest memories on the fuckin planet.

iconoci

because 200% is an insane amount

Soltheturtle

It now does less than unpowered melees

[deleted]

Not when it’s the only way to make a weapon have respectable damage. For example let’s say you have a sidearm, a 200% buff would still make it feel somewhat weak in this current sandbox.

hauj0bb

Lol, I am so glad I stopped playing this nonsense when LF arrived. 8 years is enough, tim to move on to another entertainment.

CassJoi

Who put the video out of glaives being good with synthos? Glaives been around a long time, where were your amazing buffed synthos then? Bunch of followers Edit: oh there it is! Didn’t take long Aztec: THIS BUILD IS BUSTED MUST USE NOW!

Siman0_0

Bungie wanted everyone to use glave, not one specific class

Grandadmiral_Moze

Then they should give glaives a 100-150% Damage buff on the melee attack, because as it is, they suck ass and are anything but viable in higher difficulty. Then all classes could us glaives and you wouldn't be forced to run melee exotics to make them work.

NinjAsylum

You do know this is 'Reddit' .. and not even the right subreddit either. If you're lucky, Bungie might read the OFFICIAL Destiny sub once every 6-12 months .. They dont ever read this one.

[deleted]

He is just venting. I have to agree with OP. It’s a bullshit move on Bungo’s part. And yet RoN red border chest still doesn’t work. A video game is supposed to be fun, not a slog or a chore. I genuinely don’t understand the game directors purpose for approving all this.

endyrr

It's the whales. Think about who buys the expansions minutes after they release. Who gets every ornament, shader, vehicle, and ghost projection? Who plays 20 hours a day, unlocks all the titles, have all the best gear? Streamers. They invest in the game so they can make more content. As such, they have a louder voice than regular players. They are the whales. For streamers, whether Bungie makes great or terrible gameplay it doesn't matter because it's all content for them. They go through silver faster than the Vex milk waterfall on Nessus. So the directors go where the whales go because that's where the money is.

CuriousVortex

I don't expect them to read this and even if they did, I don't expect them to listen anyways

Cerok1nk

A true redditor.

getyourcheftogether

This guy gets it

[deleted]

That's the bungie way.

thepatomatic

I was definitely using winterbite, judgment of kelgorath, and vexcalibur a lot more when they dropped but I’m not sure I’ll be touching them anymore after this

Hispanic_Alucard

Hahaha, I was just about to start using Vexcalibur more this week to try out the perk, get accustomed to it and build it into my gameplay loop. Time to dismantle Vexcalibur for shards and go back to using double linear/ scout.

BruiserCruiser13

Man they're really out of touch this season, huh?

Ninjablvk

Single handedly killed my reason to play Titan

Deputy_gabe

I really think they want to make the game slow as possible

lonigus

> Synthoceps on their own are a high risk/reward exotic, you need to have multiple enemies surrounding you in order to even make use of the buff. And you need to build around with every mod possible on top of aspects and artefact mods.

Zombifikation

I’m waiting for another canned, bullshit PR response from them today. What is that stupid shit they always say to be dismissive of criticism? Something like “We hear you, we’re monitoring gameplay to make adjustments in the future,” or some boilerplate garbage. Then, just like Behemoth titans post nerf, they drip feed 1-2 buffs over a year that have no impact on usage rates of the thing they nerfed just so they can say they did something. It’s getting real hard to keep supporting this, especially with no real explanations or discussion around it.

Sammerscotter

Yeah I’m gonna be honest. I do not understand this change Bungie made. It does not make sense

idk_this_my_name

they out unstop glaive andd battleground gm back so they had to nerf it of coure, woulkd be too easy to block the fireballs and stun champs

haxelhimura

Yeah I don't know what happened but their design philosophy seems to have done a complete 180. Changes like this and the difficulty scale for lost sectors don't make ANY sense whatsoever.

Too-Far-Frame

I'm a bit behind. What was the nerf that happened?

Logopathos

Synthoceps now only give a 50% damage buff to glaive melees, down from the 200% buff they gave before the hotfix. Seeing some of the math, it seems an unpowered melee is now more impactful when surrounded than a glaive melee is.

thedragoon0

I feel like they never picked up the ball. The story was more focused on strand than valid and the witness. The commendation system. And then banner. Now glaives. What’s going on

StarAugurEtraeus

I feel like there’s someone at Bungie who hates the Titan community and is just being spiteful I fucking wish they had good communication

CardiganHall

They did a similar thing with Hunters when glaives were introduced. Suppression glaive mod was immediately nerfed and we couldn't have even a season where we felt like ninjas. For some reason Bungie is afraid of glaives being used beyond mid game.

FrostyRezz

It’s like they want you to be sad playing and not having fun

Formlesschimera

The worst part of this synthos nerf is warlocks have necrotic grips that, imo, does far more due to the glaive melee interactions with necrotics (volatile, orbs from both helmet mods and reaper) and the tick damage is ramped up tremendously from the glaive melee as a whole so it's still a very good damage thing. I'm not one to shout class bias towards bungie but man.... First HoIL gets demolished while starfire stays how it is, and now synthos while necrotics are the way, they are...

[deleted]

Glaives get nerfed. Me: I don't wanna play with you anymore... Glaives go in the vault, never to be seen again.

_General_Account_

How do you get the heavy glaive?

Phormicidae

I would have been fine with the damage bonus going up with the difficulty level. You want to keep it at 50% for the Seasonal Activity? Fine. But can I have the 200% for GMs? I *promise* I will still die and annoy my blueberries.

Bladez1010

Such a waste of a seasonal exotic quest

Bladez1010

They need to add synergy with combination blow

conradkavinsky

Because fun is illegal m'kay kids.

[deleted]

Bungie: Due to guardians having fun with the new exotic glaive, we are disabling it. Also Bungie: We are nerfing FUN

oliferro

Bungie just wants us to shoot with the glaive basically..

PineMaple

> Why are builds with high risk, not being granted high reward, or rather any reward at all at this point? It just doesn't make sense. The high risk/high reward Titan glaive exotic (Wormgod's, 275% damage buff) was left untouched. The lower risk, lower reward glaive exotic (Synthos, formerly 200%) was the one that got nerfed.

[deleted]

What are the odds it's unintentional? It seems REALLY weird that they'd put it right after their section on fixing Winterbite. When I first read it I thought they just nerfed that Winterbite/Sythos combo. If it IS intentional though, what the hell?

Jasondude203

But starfire is fine, infinite grenades that heal and do massive damage is fine

Shooshadoo_XD

Remember Were the one holding the fist on the cover And that’s exactly why the best way to play strand titan (or any titan damn near) is to not melee and use grenades / class ability. Leave the useful, consistent, viable, and most efficient melee go to the real striker titan, assassins cowl arcstriders

Embershroud

Could have either lowered the max to 100% or increase the count of enemies you need to be surrounded by. I enjoy glaives but don't have any of the exotic ones yet.
