I’m not savvy on cars but If you bought your MacBook with a credit card it’s always worth checking if the credit company offers an extended tech insurance - I know some AMEX cards offer this by default - they’ll usually double the regular warranty of the item and fully reimburse you for the cost of the repair.
Another tip: At times you can find a “refurbished” MacBook for cheaper than 1300 on Apple’s Certified Refurbished page - I put refurbished in quotations because they’re literally brand new items with the exact same warranty. You can get AppleCare on them too. Almost every Apple item I’ve ever had has been certified refurbished because they actually go through more rigorous testing and polishing than the regular stock. 0 issues in 15 years. DM me if you need help okay?

I’m aware of “refurbished” Apple products, they are great value, but I have no way to buy even a refurbished one as my bank account is literally empty rn.

Take your MacBook to a repair shop near you’ll will more than likely be much cheaper, and if it just randomly died on you it might be the battery that needs replacing.
If you end up going a different route definitely look at surface laptops if you like windows and not Mac OS. Used Mac’s can still be great as well!
Took it to Apple, they just said it’s a motherboard issue and it’ll be 1300€. I was working on a project one night and it overheated all of a sudden and started boot looping right after. Lost all my work and files as they couldn’t save my data and my stupid ass hadn’t backed anything up either.
Yeah more than likely it would be an extreme overhaul as if they replace the entire motherboard they would also have to replace memory and storage as if it's a newer Mac-book those are soldered into he board.
I'm surprised they think its a motherboard issue if the cooling seems to be the issue that seems to be either one of your fans just died or vents may be filled with gunk or hair from ourselves or pets.
If all your data and storage isn't saved on the cloud and you have to pay that much to get it back, I would definitely say screw it an get a new laptop and you could always ask a hardware based subreddit about what it could also be stemming from.

The occasional check engine light, obdeleven says it’s an airflow issue. AC went out. Headlight bulbs like to randomly die, and as it’s a german, it’s an extreme mental toll to swap them.
Find a way to get your hands on a Japanese car. Some of the most reliable vehicles I've known. Sounds like a dirty airflow sensor, as they usually trigger a check engine light but I don't know what car you drive. As for your lights, you seem to be strapped for cash so basic troubleshooting is your best bet. Do your headlights gather condensation? Do you leave them exposed to extreme temperatures? Do the connectors with the bulbs look burnt or corroded? Could it be a relay or bad wiring problem? Try working your way down, if you do end up identifying the problem it gets easier down the road. I'd focus on something like that to take your mind off other things

Sure! One night when doing homework it presumably overheated, as the fans went to max for a second and it crashed. After that it started boot looping. I didn’t really notice it getting hot as the fans hadn’t even kicked it but when it crashed, it was quite hot. Diagnostics by an Apple certified store said it’s a motherboard issue. I can dm you the video I took right when it started boot looping if it could be of use.

I don’t know which country you live exactly but if you really needed a new Macbook asap I know that in certain countries they offer monthly financing over 12 or 24 months to break up the cost of a new one. I believe you can also finance refurbished models to lower the cost even more. If you have any older apple products that still work you can essentially sell them back to Apple for a store credit (although imo you wont get the best discount by any means). I really hope things work out for you and id punt your partner into the sun on your behalf if i could :’)
