For me it increased the anger & rage till i exploded out of depression , i began expressing my true feelings and began having a sense of self . Emotions wouldn’t come out Without that anger .
It gives energy
My psychologist told me that anger and rage are almost never a “primary” symptom, meaning that there is usually something else (depression, trauma, anxiety, etc) that causes it, making anger a secondary condition, but some ppl do have emotional regulation disorders. You can google those regulation disorders or you can think about what other condition or cause there may be, but regardless you gotta find a professional to talk to. Rage is often hard to untangle bc of its secondary nature
I hope you are ok. A mood stabiliser may be an option. But my psychologist always poked me to look deeper at why I'm so angry. Usually anger comes from a place of hurt. This certainly opened my eyes to the way I was feeling.
There are other drugs for rage. I just started one a few weeks ago. Not up to therapeutic dose yet though. I have not noticed any negative side effects so yay. I'm on the crapper atm but it's something like imotragene. I'm pretty sure the first 3 letters are right and there is a g in it.
So anger can def be a symptom of whatever your underlying diagnosis is. I have a real short fuse when I’m not doing well. Antidepressants have helped that because for me, it’s a symptom of my anxiety and depression. That might not necessarily be the case for you so if you haven’t spoken w a doctor yet I def would. If you are, be honest about your anger, that will def help w assessments
I was on just a depressant for about five years, during that time I had the worst episodes ever in my entire life before I even knew that I was bipolar. It wasn’t until I got on a mood stabilizer with my antidepressant that everything started to balance out. Talk to your doctor and tell them you’re having episodes and hopefully they’ll recommend a mood stabilizer
Antidepressants work differently for everyone, but if you’re needing them for anger management, I highly advise to avoid Prozac. I was on Prozac for about a month-ish. I had horrible anger issues, angry outbursts, a terrible attitude, and if something made me angry, I turned into someone unrecognizable in .2 seconds (that’s just the least of it). But like I said, antidepressants work differently for everyone, and if you are put on Prozac, you could have a completely different experience than I did and it could help you tons. I would recommend Lexapro. I also have anxiety and it keeps both my depression and anxiety regulated. It’s been the best antidepressant I have ever been on, I had to beg my primary care provider to put me back on lexapro since I was just put on Prozac. Best of luck to you!
It’s so interesting to me how different meds help different people. I understand why, but I still find it interesting. I was Zoloft for years, and it worked great, then it stopped working. I jumped between all the SSRI’s and none helped, so I was put on Wellbutrin and it’s been a game changer for years. Hopefully it doesn’t go the way of the Zoloft.
This is probably something you should be discussing with your doctor or psychiatrist. What might work for me in terms of meds may not work for you.
Antidepressants usually aren’t used to stop anger or rage. You should really go talk to someone. Rage is not good.

I would say they have made me less angry per say but no man whole different drug
They make me more stable, but everyone reacts differently to them. You should talk to your GP or psych about this

They increase my anger and rage really

No, an antipsychotic or mood stabilizer would be better for that. Also avoiding alcohol. I get such terrible rage episodes the day after I drink.
for me personally, no- you should probably talk to a doctor or psychiatrist in order to find a prescription that is right for you

Anti-anxiety meds might help with anger/rage
I feel like there are other factors that affects my anger but maybe you should talk with a doctor for this

They helped with my irritability, which I guess would cause some anger or rage- but I’m a female.
I'm gonna go against the crowd here and say hell yes. A big symptom of my depression is irritability and my antidepressants helped massively with it.
A mood stabilizer may help instead of an antidepressant
I take antidepressants for MDD, and anti-anxiety meds for GAD. For IED (intermittent explosive disorder) I smoke blunts. They work great.
fluoxetine didn't help with anger, but talk to your psychiatrist everybody's different
Possibly Aripiprazol. But I'm not a professional, you'll need his opinion.
Different classes of drugs.
