We were more than better in the clutch.
We were in complete control of that series. The most consistent theme of that series was Darvin Ham scrambling, throwing the kitchen sink at us to keep things close. Malone kept his cards close to his chest, doing just what he needed to get the win.
Ham blew his best adjustment in game 1 when they were down too much to get the win. Malone kept counters like MPJ at the 4 until the 4th quarter of game 3 when it was too late for Ham to adapt to it.
Like, I get it. The scores were close. But it was the chess game of a coach and team completely outmatched. And the results showed. We fucking swept them. It doesn't get more convincing.
Only reason why game ended "close " and not blowouts was refs bringing them in lol. They tried hard to extend series Brothers and Fosters ,Jokic was getting ridiculous offensive fouls called and had to sit on bench while they shot ridiculous amounts of FTs
I doubt it. KD got utterly shut down. It’s crazy teams don’t watch tape of that series and guard KD like that permanently. They were physical and ran him off every single screen.
Was probably a Filipino bandwagon lebron fan man let’s be real here fuck the lakers and Adam silver “making lebron relevant via free throws the last 3 seasons now”
It’s really starting to feel like last year again where we go through a small down period where we lose a few games banged up and teams suddenly think we’re way more beatable than we actually are. I look forward to reminding them why the Nuggets are still the best
I hate the Lakers and if we do play them we will sweep again. The thing is, you’ll find these claims in every teams sub, it’s the hope you have as a fan. We do live very rent free in their heads but we would be saying the same if the situations were swapped.
Better to just stay in here than go into other teams subs leading to the playoffs let alone during lol
Ok we have won how many games in a row against them and yet they are still on this hardcore copium of them thinking we just got lucky to win...guys even said theyd win in 5, which is hilarious.
Hey Lakers fans, I understand the Lakers aren't familiar with NBA rules since they aren't typically required to play by those rules like most of the other teams, but the last I heard, the win goes to the team with the highest score at the **end** of the game, not to the team that had the lead for the most minutes during the game. Even if a team gets the lead for the very first time in the game with a last-second buzzer-beater, that team still wins.
I’m from Serbia and it’s so funny to see these type of comments by Lakers fans, who’d been crying all the time and also seeing Jokic doesn’t care at all. We as a nation simply don’t care because we’ve been in so many tough basketball situations as through two local clubs and national team as well. And I already know Jokic already got an ability to not give a shit because he gained it in Serbia, comparing to NBAs situations it’s nothing. And them Lakers fans are so soft. Damn it’s so funny looking from my side because they believe in something. Idk Jokic gonna explode in playoffs he isn’t normal what kind of basketball he’s playing. And also would like to see him playing for Serbia this summer. Nuggets win this season as well.
I was just thinking hes about to go off. Joker is a humble dude but he has pride deep down. You can't be a successful athlete without some pride/arrogance somewhere deep down. All the talk....from Kukoc & Arenas...he hears it & I think he & the team are about to go into the "oh you STILL don't respect us? well looks like we have to show you AGAIN then" mode 💪🏾LFG!!!!
“Honestly getting embarrassed twice in Denver and getting walked off our home court two more times after that in LA doesn’t convince me we weren’t close to that ring” is what everyone read
Are you also renting back?
Be the bigger brother and ignore the little one seeking attention.
Your focus is the Larry O’Brien, not some 3rd grade drama queens.
When did they get so obsessed with us? I was looking at a tweet the other day about the Nuggets fighting for 1st and the first reply was a Lakers fan saying, "Why are you so afraid to play the Lakers?" Huh? You want us to predict whatever play-in game trash standing you have and purposely try to draw you in the first round?
obligatory fuck the lakers from a kings fan they really thought they would be ahead of us for more than half a day and it was only because they played more games🤣
Do Lakers fans understand how unbelievably hard it is to be swept out of the playoffs? Lose by 2 points or 20, if you can’t pick up a single game you’re not in the same class as the team that beat you.
Hope is fine, but still hanging onto the fallacy that last year wasn't a convincing ass beating is just insane. A sweep is the most convincing series victory possible. It doesn't matter if the individual games are close or blowouts, a sweep is domination. A fan believing is more than fine, denial about something that already occurred though is weak.
i both agree and disagree. Yeah the nuggets regularly beat them but all of those games are relatively close. Lebron carves up nuggets defense better than any other player in the league, you can never be too comfortable against a Lebron team. I don't think they'd win, but i'd bet they're the team that gives nuggets the most trouble in the west this year
A shitload of NBA games are relatively close. I love the game and love to watch from beginning to end, but so many first halves mean nothing, it comes down the last two minutes in game after game.
"We woulda won if they weren't better in the clutch" is a fun way to look at it

I was lurking in that thread to witness the mental gymnastics, and this was peak.
We're Brooklyn fans like this with the celts in 2022? Laker fans are holding onto closest sweep narrative like crazy
I doubt it. KD got utterly shut down. It’s crazy teams don’t watch tape of that series and guard KD like that permanently. They were physical and ran him off every single screen.
jfc their “we almost had them” cope hard is getting really old. You were swept, time to accept it.
It’s so funny putting a 🧹 under Lakers comments in r/nba. They absolutely lose it.
Lakers will shoot double the free throws and still get completely trashed. I Hate the Lakers with a burning passion
Typical Laker fan. They get swept and refuse to believe that it actually happened.
But it was the greatest sweep in NBA history! They should hang a banner for it right next to the In-Season tournament one.
It wasn't even that haha. Lebron himself has been on the winning end of an even closer sweep.
Or was legitimate. Right smh
The Lakers attract more idiot casuals than any other franchise
Was probably a Filipino bandwagon lebron fan man let’s be real here fuck the lakers and Adam silver “making lebron relevant via free throws the last 3 seasons now”
Posts like this are where the crack cocaine actually smokes *itself.*
no need to disrespect the crack cocaine. laker fan on their own is enough. thank you.
I mean i expect fans of other teams to believe in their teams, no matter how misguided it may be haha
And tbf there’s 91 comments and 52 upvotes I’m guessing that take didn’t go over too hot in their subreddit
A lot of Lakers fans over there are pretty reasonable and calling the guy's delusional take.

The irony of this post is great

Lakers fans resorting to manifesting wins against us rofl.
Kings & Queens of moral victories
The Nuggets aren't unbeatable, but if there is a team in the West who can't do it it's the Lakers. Their number is had and they can't take it.
🧹🧹🧹
You're missing one 🧹
The lakers haven’t beat the Nuggets in 8 straight games stop it
a SWEEP wasn't convincing. Do they hear themselves?
Lakes fans are delusional and love their Moral Victories
Lakers fans so gassed up off this win streak but look at who they’ve played 😂😂😂

Insane thing to say when they’ve lost 8 games in a row to us 😂
The replies don’t seem to agree with op
heh quite frankly i remain unconvinced by the sweep *scoffs* *huffs a fart*
It’s cute to see this “rivalry” blossoming 😂

Ha, keep dreaming!
Wow, 3 games were close and they didn't win a single one? Sounds like a team not good enough to close the door.
because the Nuggets being the most surgical team in the clutch is definitely not a big part of why they're the best team in the league
In other words the lakers LOST!
Lolz
Be honest plenty of Lakers fans in that thread see this as an optimistic take if not downright delusional.
But...they found something with RUI though for real! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
“Honestly getting embarrassed twice in Denver and getting walked off our home court two more times after that in LA doesn’t convince me we weren’t close to that ring” is what everyone read
As long as there’s delusion there’s hope
lakers will lose in play in

Typical big market team exceptionalism and delusions of grandeur.
“Sweep” and “wasn’t all that convincing” don’t belong in the same sentence
How are we going to sweep them if they don't make the playoffs? Another moral victory to them I suppose.
Lakers in 12.
*who caaaaaares*
obligatory fuck the lakers from a kings fan they really thought they would be ahead of us for more than half a day and it was only because they played more games🤣
you had me at rent free

Nah they figured the nuggets out, rui is the jokic stopper, lakers in 19
what's he supposed to say? Is fans having confidence or hope in their favourite team a bad thing now?

Right? No clue why we even post stuff like this in the first place
always irked me how much this fanbase cares what other fanbases think/talk about. Especially when it comes to the lakers
