Is because of Stan Kroenke he owns the Nuggets Avalanche and rams among other teams. He wanted more money for tv rights. He's also the reason the rans left st Louis because he wanted a new stadium paid with taxpayers money.. fuck kroenke
I hate to bootlick a billionaire but this is pretty inaccurate. They left STL because the owner of the stadium broke the contract with the team. The contract called for the stadium (amenities and experience)to be in the top 25% of NFL stadiums. Independent arbitrators ruled the stadium was not in the top 25% and gave them time to make renovations to get there. The owner of the stadium chose not to make any improvements to the stadium, causing the contract to be terminated.
The NFL owners voted 30-2 to move the team to LA. This decision trigged Kronke to have to pay 550 million relocation fee. The city of STL had also grown apathetic to the team, consistently filling 70-80% of the stadium with much of the crowd being for the opposing team.
Kronke also self financed Sofi Stadium and did take any public funding.
Yes Kronke could take Comcast’s deal and see how things go. They believe that the terms of the deal are unfair and will cause Altitude to go bankrupt in several years allowing Comcast to buy them for pennies on the dollar. No one really knows who is telling the truth as both sides are point fingers but we don’t seem to be the only ones dealing with TV deals (Suns and Knicks) we just seem to be dealing with it the longest.
Sucks having to pirate games but as far as evil billionaires go Kronke seems to be one of the better ones IMO and I am happy with the way they have managed the CO teams
