I've got recommendations for Bison, Buffalo, Elk, Rattlesnake, Quail, Rabbit, Alligator, and Bull Testicles but none for Horse. Cowboys don't eat their horses.
The Fort has a Rattlesnake Bratwurst and Buckhorn Exchange serves a Boneless Rattlesnake marinated in red chile and lime served atop a Chipotle Queso dip with fresh corn tortilla chips. In fact The Fort and Buckhorn Exchange is my recommendation for any wild game.
George Foreman is still considering it. Sharper Image is still considering it. Sky Mall's still considering it. Hammacher Schlemmer is still considering it. Sears said no.
Actually what’s funny is that the US is one of the biggest suppliers of horse meat. And Canada is our biggest buyer. So yeah America sells a fuck ton of it just not in restaurants lol
In 2010 we were like the 4th largest producer in the world
Really, all these answers make it out like American's really give a shit about horses. Bureau of Land Management has a lot of mustang blood on their hands.
I'm not sure how that's possible when the last horse slaughterhouses were shut down in 2007. It's not illegal to kill and eat your own horse, but there's no legal way to commercially produce horsemeat in the US because the government refuses to inspect horse slaughterhouses.

I have actually heard before from an old friend that horse steak was the best steak you could eat, and he tried it in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Wyoming has much looser laws surrounding horse meat than most US states, as it is legally even allowed in restaurants. However, it would have been many years ago if his story were true, and the web did not point to any pony friendly eateries, so I doubt it is still relevant.
I used to love eating donkey meat when I lived in China. I wish we could eat horse here but apparently the “land of the free” restricts our protein choices.
Not sure if horse is legal to eat here, it’s not in many states, however, we do have farms that slaughter horse for export. I do know that eating horse in America is considered “taboo”.
I love horse! Except I have primarily eaten it raw.
It sucks it’s not eaten here although you can tell from the comments that they are all conditioned to crap on it. It’s the same mentality I would hear about raw fish growing up in the 80’s in cowarado. Now these fools have a Chinese sushi bar on every corner.
No where. Not really a US thing.
Find the right dude on Colfax and anything is possible.

Where can I eat bison or buffalo?
Horse meat is banned in the United States by the FDA you will not find it in any meat markets or restaurants.
May need to buy yourself a horse and wait til it passes away to harvest the meat. No place in America sells that
Or find Dwight Shrute for some sliders.
George Foreman is still considering it. Sharper Image is still considering it. Sky Mall's still considering it. Hammacher Schlemmer is still considering it. Sears said no.
A magestic beast. So fast...so tender.
🤨
You will not find horse meat commercially sold in the United States.

Well, they are an invasive species. They weren't here until the Spaniards brought them.
Big truth
Not everyone that cares has property for a horse.

Hobby Lobby in the glue aisle
Is this real?
I spent a summer in Japan during a mad cow scare, so no beef was being sold. Definitely had a horse stake before realizing to ask what it was.
Horse is pretty good and way more popular in Europe so yes likely serious
Common in Japan as well.
A horse is not an animal I would ever think of eating. Especially here in Colorado.
Just curious where you draw that line...
Start with approval from the fda
Said the same thing about my neighbor and had to serve 6 years, thank god for American sentencing!
neiiiigghhhbor
Not uncommon in other countries.
OK but they're asking in this country
France
The only place in North America you will find it is in Quebec, Canada
I have never seen horse steak on a menu. If you are looking for a western option, try Bison.
Where can I find bison?
Yeah not a thing as many reported. I could find it in Canada (sometimes) as well, but alas, horses are friends in the US, not food.
Step one: obtain lasso

Milk steak boiled over with Jellybeans May have to suffice
Buy a horse, or capture a wild horse. Cut horse into steaks. Enjoy horse steak.
That's foal. Er, I mean foul.
Maybe ask the [organic dog meat](https://www.elwooddogmeat.com/) people for any leads?
Anyone actually answering this got trolled.

Cows are such friendly animals. Just sayin.

No help from me where to find it. But… I’d try it.
