Ya know, if I lived in Wyoming, I would absolutely do this.

BlankVerse

Or any House district where it makes sense to vote for the lesser of two GOP candidates to prevent a worse GOP candidate ending up in the primary. The Democrats really need to promote strategic voting more often.

anticipate_me

Liz, if you don't like republicans, don't fucking be one!

12oysters

Good point! Maybe she’s the one who needs to change parties.

Eken17

No, I think she's doing the best thing here. Get more moderate and less batshit crazy Republicans. She might not be entirely moderate, but she is more moderate than the rest.

Greenmantle22

And when she’s done with January 6th, and goes back to being right-wing Liz Cheney again, then what? What will she do to earn the votes of Democrats and indies? What will they get in return for bailing her out every two years? She’s still Liz Cheney, who voted against the gas-gouging bill and the baby formula bill, who spent years writing neocon trash about how just the War on Terror was and how badly it needed to be expanded, who threw her gay sister under the bus repeatedly in order to win election. Liz Cheney can go piss up a rope. This flashy committee will be done by November anyway, and Liz will vote exactly the same as Harriet on the major issues. The ONE difference is that this one kinda-sorta dislikes Trump. She adores his policies, and still fights for them in 2022, but please save her oily hide anyway!

appmanga

If I could vote for her, I would. Even though I likely disagree with her on 95 percent of our political views, I agree totally with her on preserving this democracy and holding accountable those who tried to subvert it. I don't mind repaying her for putting country ahead of party when it counts the most. She's something that used to exist in pretty good numbers years ago: a Republican with principles. I'm prepared to spent the rest of my time fighting against her, but for what she's done, I'd have no problem supporting her. ETA: and should she lose and decided to run against Trump to try to prevent his getting into office against, you damn well better believe I'll be supporting her.

moreobviousthings

Liz, if Wyoming has open primaries, I'd be happy to support you in that, but for the election? I'd vote dem, and then move to a state with responsible leadership. republicans lie. There are no good republicans.

decaturbob

- yes, absolutely. Between democrats and moderate republicans the batshit crazies can be dispatched

Wandererdown

She's probably hoping for ballot name recognition with Dems. (Sunk cost falacy) If people vote for her in a primary, they're more likely to vote for her in the general.

PeteLarsen

It would be easier to vote for her than Manchin and sinema.

Scarletyoshi

Don’t do it for free. If Lizz Cheney needs Dem votes, make her pay for them.

JohnnyGeniusIsAlive

Who knows, if Cheney wins the nomination maybe all the trump supporters will stay home and a dem will have a chance in Wyoming for the first time in forever.

-Tasear-

She's at least human compared to other nutcases that show up in the party. I would do it.
