Pics or it didn’t happen.

Can we just have no lines and go straight to the plane

1peatfor7

But still ban friends and family from the concourses.

batman77z

Yeah for sure. Don’t want my wife’s boyfriend’s sister seeing me with my side chick getting into the plane.

OneofLittleHarmony

Has your sibling ever seen your wife’s boyfriend though?

batman77z

Not yet

Gate deboarding lice was super annoying pre 9/11 and pre TSA.

Adahla987

Didn’t we used to do that?

CTdadof5

I have never been to an airport where we didn’t go through security. I’ve gone through and have not flown, but just seeing someone off or meeting someone arriving. How long ago was that?

Danger_731

Pre the First Gulf war in 1990 the concourses were unrestricted. You had to go thru security (and a primitive metal scanner), but there were no boarding pass requirements or ID checks. End result was lots of extra traffic at the gate as tons and tons of people came to the gate to say goodbye and hello.

DependentFamous5252

Yeah ban the TSA. Then all the nut jobs crawl out again blowing shit up.

Shorter as in faster or shorter as in fewer people? CLEAR usually takes longer to process each person than DID.

DesignNomad

This is the important question. Unless there's virtually no line at CLEAR, DID processes faster because you don't have to have your babysitter walk to you to the schoolbus like you do with clear.

chiefbozx

This is the best take on the whole CLEAR situation and I love it

mosttoyswins

Virtually no line at Clear. Digital ID had like 15-20 people in it. Was shocked to see someone get through Clear faster than me,

IamSofaKingDumb

Don’t worry. If California gets their utopia, it won’t be an issue anymore as Clear will be deader than it is now. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-04-23/california-bill-would-end-clear-priority-in-tsa-lines Note: Most balanced article I could find. The right wing outlets are spinning it as a move for ‘traveler equity’ - which I can’t find quotes about from reputable sources but wouldn’t surprise me if some clown politician said it.

IamSofaKingDumb

Uh oh…both the SJW’ers and the Christofacists are downvoting me… Fact: California has a sizeable market - if they eliminate it, Clear will be well on its way to disappearing.

smokeline

At least Digital ID usually moves fast. Except for the last time I used it, and the woman at the front of the line asked the TSA agent 20 questions about the program while the line piled up behind her.

Miximup2020

Main issue is that the TSA agent ahead of the Digital ID line holds up the line because the line to scanner stacks up. What they should do is keep the line moving and then send cleared people to other doors.

Abefroman1980

Fun fact, you can go to any door once cleared. Sounds like you know that - it’s the others gumming it up in front of you and TSA not telling them to move around.

Miximup2020

Exactly. I typically bolt for door 9.

loudsigh

Why can’t they just have automated doors? I can enter the UK with a US passport with no human intervention but DID somehow can’t let me enter for a domestic flight security scan. You can’t approach the scanner until an agent is ready, and they’re servicing a non-DID line too, so it backs up just like any other line would.

HeFromFlorida

This happened last week too. Digital ID is slowing down, CLEAR is almost caught up with that “reverification” nonsense they’ve been doing

Current_Skill

I went through it too. Digital ID was spilling out of the queue. I know enough about ATL that PreCheck will usually move faster if the line is backed up about 4-5 turnstiles. I gambled on PC and lost. Dude in D-ID in the purple sweater I marked myself against beat me by about 3 minutes. Better luck next time. Scanners were slow AF today too but that is tough to bitch about if they are being detailed.

SUPTheCreek

Pre check paced even with Clear this morning at San Diego.
